"Well, I was, briefly."
Love her.
Yes! That went over the heads of most in the audience - I heard one shriek, but it really made me laugh!!

@@mephisto2812 She was walking, but skated a bit when she slipped on the ice.
Didn’t mean explain the joke.

Everyone got it. Didn’t laugh for obvious reason.
Shall I explain…
@@michaelcrabtree1204 oh saying it wasn’t funny?. Like you understood it but it wasn’t funny
1:18 - Her "ice skating briefly" joke was fucking hilarious but went completely unnoticed 🤣🤣
as well as the "taking "In sickness" to extreme" joke (part of the marriage vow)
Unnoticed jokes are not what not comedy.
Also her "Kevin Bacon" joke... Solid "Footloose" pun that everyone missed
If it went unnoticed perhaps it wasn't funny?

I laughed so hard...omg...if that doesn't describe marriage, I don't know what does!!!! LOL!!! xo
I did too! Should I be worried I feel like it could apply just as easily to mine?
She got married!!! I'm so happy!!! It's so hard for us with the autism to snag 'em. I could never tell if people were flirting! My husband is very clear when he talks. it helps.
I love the way you expressed that: "so hard for us...to snag 'em." You just made my day, and you've demonstrated that it's not impossible. 😄

YES! Such a great show.
I just love her comedy and way of speaking.
A razor-sharp wit and astonishingly funny, Gadsby is great! ( wink, wink.) I recently discovered her two taped shows and was astounded by her command of the audience's mood.
‘If you think that I’m funny…you’re right, if you think that I’m not funny you’re also right’ - Jimmy Carr talking about sense of humour and the fact that it’s totally subjective. He also touched on the fact that like our taste for various foods, we can’t control what we find funny.
This is a long way to say it’s totally fine to love Hannah and find her hilarious (I do), and it’s totally fine not to find her funny.
It’s not ok to be rude and aggressive about it though!
The people who rage about Hannah aren't doing it because they don't find her funny. When you don't find someone funny, you mostly ignore them and move on. Their rage clearly comes from deeper, less socially acceptable causes, and "she's not funny" is their cover story.
@Edit Name I somehow think Hannah has better things to do than read CZcams comments such as perform her currently sold out tour shows.
Making us happy while healing = nice work. I'm digging the Curling analogy, too. Or simile or whatnot.

Hannah Gadsby and Stephen Colbert is almost too much happy for my heart!
What a strong comedian. Her choice of words are refreshing nuances.
What are you talking about😂 Nothing shes says is articulated in any special way an if she made any jokes they aren't "gifts to the world" like her community likes to say😂 go watch some Dave Chappelle or Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock or Tim Allen, theres better comedians from the last 20-30 years by far, she doesn't even scale with them😂
Not at all
@@TheDeyamNetwork Just because you don't appreciate Hannah's humour, or use of words, doesn't mean that others don't. There is no point comparing who is a better comedian, because comedy is subjective. What is better to you is worse to someone else, and vice versa. It's OK for people to value and appreciate different things to you. Personally, I would hate to live in a world where we were all clones, all agreeing on what was best in terms of personal taste.

I have been crying for the past half hour or more because of this woman 😂 the first 2 videos had me laughing till my face hurt and the next was her speech to the university of Tasmania. Different tears. ☺
Her TED talk czcams.com/video/87qLWFZManA/video.html
She has been well and truly hit with the funny stick, and she actually survived small town Tasmania, amazing!
I thought Tasmania was safe now.
@@anthonymorgan6255 There are isolated areas, and a lot of old-fashioned prejudice and bigotry in some areas. A difficult environment to grow up in if you don't fit the mould, and can't figure out your relationship to the box.
It seems much like rural USA, but miniture size. In Tasmania there aren't a lot of support services for children or adults. The Tasmanian government doesn't have much money to work with. Although they grow poppies for pharmaceuticals, have vinyards, etc.
If you are thinking of Port Arthur, that's an Island off Tasmania's mainland, and was a single incident. Other than the massacre of nearly all the Australian Aborigines when Tasmania became a penal colony in the 1800s.. And the violence towards the convicts that got completely out of hand for some years. Fun times.
@@daniellamcgee4251 I know the history. But thanks for your opinion on Tasmania and perceived victims who don't fit the so called mould and proceed to monetize said victim hood.
@@daniellamcgee4251 I live in Tasmania and grew up here too. I’m in my forties and have always found it to be quite a progressive place. Tasmania had one of the highest “yes” votes out of all Australian states in the 2017 marriage equality plebiscite.
@@ryankincadeCool! I used live in Tasmania and have had family and friends living there for about as long as you have lived there. :) As part of their jobs, they got around to various areas. They found that Tasmania was divided into people closer to the city being more progressive as a whole, but people in rural areas being less so, depending on which region. Times are changing, and I haven't been there in years, (so thanks for reminding me of changes) but in Hannah's growing up years, being less progressive is how she describes it.
She took break a leg seriously, and kept it in stride. What a delightful person.

Congratulations to Hannah Gadsby on their new book!
I wonder what her new book is on; I would assume more about how she enjoyes watching men die, and suffer. He entire act is just about how much she hates men, people laugh because killing, and hating on men is popular with the sjw, and soy boy crowd.
@@LordMaskin First of all, I don’t think the supposed ‘hatred’ of men is baseless. I understand putting down someone is wrong but haven’t men been in positions of power being misogynistic? So, why the insecurity and defensiveness?
@@PokhrajRoy. Not really insecure, or defensive; just sick and tired of nobody calling out this kind of behavoir when a women does it; but line up when a man says anything negative about a women.
The fact that she labels all men the same is beyond insane; and it does irritate me a man helped her. If I was the man that she got help from I would have just left considering how much she hates men and frequently calls them all evil.

Okay I’m sorry but please break bones more often because that story had me in tears!!! So funny!!! What a wonderful interview, thank you!!
Yeah..
Breaking bones is hilarious.
Don't worry, she will. Her first gig on T.V, with Adam Hills as host, involved her doing physical activities and injuring herself due to her clumsiness. It was soon decided that she wear a bike helmet and knee and elbow pads for all activities. Her slow motion accidents, and subsequent discussion with Hills about it, was her segment of the show. That was in the late 1990s, and I think she has dypraxia, a co-ordination disorder which often goes with autism (but not always!) , so there are likely to be more accidents for your amusement.
@@anthonymorgan6255 Breaking bones is not funny for most people. How people respond to breaking bones, including the stories they tell of how it happened, can be funny. Distinctions.

I love everything about how Hannah sees the world. She is truth in the notion you can find humor in anything. I wonder if she knows her humor is the sweep to our curling rock days.
I am a 53 year old heterosexual male, and I love Hannah Gadsby. She speaks to some of the most important parts of being human in a humane and loving way, with humor, and facing the pain of being human when we face our and others deepest selves and the traumas created by our relationships. People like her are very important to us all, as she challenges us in ways that help us be with things that are often uncomfortable for us to look at. I imagine that is probably why many men, and also perhaps some women, get upset with her. She is an inspiration for having the courage, incredible skill, and dedication to her work to do what she does.

I love how every few months comedians are like "We're supposed to BREAK BARRIERS and PUSH THE ENVELOPE and CHALLENGE WHAT CAN BE FUNNY!" and yet when Hannah Gadsby does it arguably better than anyone, suddenly no one's sticking up for her. Oh well, we love her stuff!
Exactly! Another thing is many will say comics are modern philosophers who critique society but once it is a woman with an act similar to those like Bill Hicks suddenly she is "woke" or "unfunny" now why is that?
@Edit Name Comedy is subjective isn't that what people like you say when someone says a male comedian isn't considered funny or says something problematic?
@Edit Name What are you talking about? Have you not heard of comedians like Bill Hicks, Sam Kinison, George Carlin or anti comics like Andy Kaufman or Eric Andre? They have outburst on stage or emotional breakdowns for the sake of comedy and that's not including many others who I can't think of. You just angry at her for no reason because she is a woman and a lesbian. If you don't like her, ok. Good for you.
@Edit Name This comment section is full of people who delight in her humor and her act - but you're apparently ABSOLUTELY CONVINCED that they're faking it because she ticks some minority and victimhood boxes. Because there's simply no way other people could have different tastes than you - if a comedian succeeds who's not to your taste, it's because she's lesbian/autistic/feminist and "those people" get everything handed to them on a platter. Do you have any idea how pathetic that sounds to most people? You're the textbook definition of a bigot.

I wonder if Hannah has considered that she might have dypraxia which makes organization of thoughts and body, tricky. Neurons misfire randomly and the brain directs things out of order. Co-ordination is exhausting. Some have a lot of vivid dreams and sleep issues. For people with dypraxia, the deal in life is to be clumsy and do all your own stunts.
