But the fact it was not small talk (arrogant narcissitic assumption) just a stranger pointing out she was scowling for no reason (possibly reaction to schizophrenic hallucination)
@@mkfaruki I guarantee, when most men tell a random woman to smile, it's not because they have any genuine concern for her, it's because they've been taught women have to look beautiful all the time, the sight of a woman frowning makes them uncomfortable, and they feel entitled to telling her to do something about it. They may think they're doing it to make her feel better (because they're also taught that women are supposed to want to be beautiful all the time, and that makes them happiest), or at least tell themselves that, and yet it won't. @@giordanodsouza9563 that's amazing
This story never happened. It's just made up to prop up her victim hood image.
That was actually super educational. I learned more here than in some of my college anatomy classes to be completely honest
Lol the non-binary joke.
Could you explain it to me please?
@@alyssahansen1400 Non-binary people get harassed allot, and told worse things then "You should smile more"
@@alexterzaghi7256
Thanks.
as a non-binary person i'm glad that we were mentioned. we do get harassed with more than "your face is wrong can you change it."
it's a lot like "your entire existence is wrong can you change it," you know?
@@Kai-hi2ii I mean, they're not wrong...
In a weird way, this actually suggests that if you think you'll hit it off with someone, you should just talk to them, regardless of social norms. Because if she had told me that, I would've gone "Really? I did not know that." and would've been amused by her going into such detail for a topic like that within such a short amount of time.
Ditto. 😅 I’d have probably replied with a “did you knowww,” of my own. I love random info. Weirds people out sometimes, but then, they’re not my people. 🤷🏻♀️
That's very ture and rather profound.
No matter how many times I watch this I lose it! 😂 I have to come back to it whenever I need a laugh and “AT THE DOG PARK” jumps back into my memory and it indeed works every time 😆
if you think this is funny, just wait until you read the back of a cereal box, or look at picture of a house
54 years and I'm still learning about female anatomy. The mystery continues!
I am so proud to be Australian as this woman is brilliant, warm and incredibly funny! I adore you Hannah!💋💋💋💋
ARe we watching the same woman?
You don't know why yet but you do is pretty classic
Very sorry but could you please explain it to me 😕
@@pvgospel7341 if you watch the special on Netflix, because she's autistic and likes knowing things in advance, she spent the first 10 minutes setting out exactly what she was going to do before doing it. Later on like now, she's playing on the fact that the audience 'know' becuase she went through a detailed rundown in the first 10 or so minutes but they 'don't know' becuase she hasnt come to that part of the show yet
Her special's called Douglas and is on Netflix, you should watch it :)
when I first watched a clip of her I cried. when you're a member of a few marginalised groups it can be so lonely and isolating never hearing anyone who really sees the world like you or who has shared similar experiences. It was absolutely amazing to hear somone I can relate to telling her story and I owe hannah the world for making my life feel so much less isolated.
You're part of a margarine group?
This legitimately made me blush, but I was dying laughing. Jolly good.
“You don’t know why yet...but you do.” Hahahaha
Oh God the visuals that was happening in my head while she was telling that story
Just diagnosed with that aspergers....... This woman makes my life make sense 😂
We actually learned about the Douglas pouch in paramedic school, because it‘s the lowest point of the abdomen, which means that EUPs usually end up there.
Including enbies
Feeling SEEN 🌈✨
I do post mortems for a job. This is making me cry with laughter because we always point out the pouch of douglas.
Love that none of her jokes are self degrading and overly sexual.... legitimately funny woman
Unfortunately that's also why most people find her not funny since she's not degrading herself or overly sexulaizes everything and it makes them uncomfortable
@@shalev. Most men don't like her jokes because they are just genuinely bad jokes. I suggest you take a comedy class because these are just horribly written standup bits.
The "At the dogpark" bit made me smirk a bit because of the absurdity, everything else didn't even get that far. I really do not see what is so funny about this.
If you honestly think men need self depricating humor or sexualization to laugh you have watched fuck all comedians in your life. Dave Chapelle is not degrading himself and he is hilarious, George Carlin is regarded as one of the best comedians and I can even laugh about him when I politically disagree with him. Those are just 2 examples pulled out of my ass, there's tons more comedians that fill neither role.
@@Finkelfunk I was laughing my tits off the whole time. They're gone now. I'm titless. It's clearly just an issue of taste.
@@instagramstar5928 She's a shit comic but I don't see how she's a man hater. This sort of comedy is fucking dreadful though.
@@ashjones2627 she is a man hater because of she thinks all men sre bad men which infact isn't true all people regardless of their gender fall into to the category between the middle of bad and good but there is a line that shouldn't be crossed but some people do cross it which makes them bad but according to hanna gadsby only men can be bad by the way see Lauren chen's video on hanna gadsby
So happy there is a comedienne who is genuinely funny. THANK YOU! I needed this in my life.
My answer to less muscles to smile than frown. "Thanks, I don't want to over burden my smile muscles.
"a crawlspace for emergencies" 😂
But there’s no entrance, so how would someone get in? Lol 🤔
Her bit about how chaos in your periphery adds stress to an already uncomfortable situation is spot on.
Actual tears of joy streaming down my face when she explains in further detail the clap motion to access the pouch of Douglas 😂😂😂
Am I the only one who gets distracted in the reverse shots by how gorgeous that theater is?
Anyway, Hannah Gadsby is a deity.
THE POUCH OF DOUGLAS SOUNDS LIKE A MACGUFFIN FROM LORD OF THE RINGS. CONVINCE ME IM WRONG
I love her so much. My son is high functioning Autistic and there is so much that reminds me of him. It gives me hope that some day he can be as self aware, even if only in hindsight 😆
This is the first time I’ve ever watched anything by this comedian, and I am already in love with her
as soon as she mentioned nonbinary people i knew i had a new favorite comedian tbh
i would die for hannah, she's fantastic
That's why you are a funky rabbit.
You can adress me with Mein Führer je.
An unforseen benefit to wearing masks all the time is that I haven't been told to smile in a good long while. Silver linings haha
As someone who has a chronic case of RBF, I agree. Masks have been amazing at reducing the comments about my face.
As a women's health np, as soon as she said "pouch of douglas" I went, wait, surely she didn't mean that. But she did! Ahahaha. And that suitcase metaphor was perfect.😂
You are absolutely brilliant, Hannah Gadsby!
She is hilarious. For once super thankful for the CZcams algorithm and their suggestions 😌
Came to see if Dave was right, I should have taken his word.
I also came to listen. Her jokes weren't funny.
You’re probably correct. Opinions are like “_________”. My opinion means nothing.
I love that I laughed and learned all on one go!! Magical!! Give this talented individual a teaching certificate!!
The luggage comparison made me burst out laughing, bless
I laughed so hard I cried at "clap"
i like how she was like, this is a weird and embarrassing conversation that happened at a dog park. i should reenact it on stage
This is exactly the type of conversation I would expect to have at a dog run.
Its interesting how comedy is genuinely subjective, I fell on this by accident and thought why not and even though I didn't find it funny (at all), reading the comments its intriguing to see how many people loved it, kind of shows how humour genuinely is unique and what one person finds funny someone else can entirely not. Anyway have a nice day people
Thanks for not screaming in red-faced rage about how she's not funny and how everyone who claims to enjoy her is faking it just to be woke, like most of her detractors do.
I choked on myself when she said "and clap".
I would have rather enjoyed this conversation at the dog park... Of course I am odd like that!
Shadow Veil AT THE DOG PARK!!!?!
Oh, my life is forever changed. That was brilliant!!!
I just laughed harder than I have in months! Thank you, Hannah!
😲 turns out the "pouch of Douglas" is a real f#cking thing! 😅🤣
No way, really??😅
I had to google. I had never heard of it.
Yep. If you have endometriosis often lesions clog up the pouch of Douglas. Just one of the many locations affected by endo.
Just wait until you learn that you have a little nasal cavity at the base of your tailbone in your skin that you'll never notice until you get a cyst there
@@dozzzor it's technical name is the rectal-uterine pouch apparently. It's a cavity between the rectum and the posterior uterine wall
Hannah, your comedy is excellent 😂 thank you!
oml. I wanna be friends with her now. Anybody who not just makes jokes like that, but actually thinks and does things like that is awesome.
I'm glad she popped up in my recommendations.. I have been laughing so hard this morning-I have blown coffee out twice. Thank you! Would love to hang with her for a day. Again- thank you for this. I could of had a field day during quarantine watching this...
check out her full special if u haven't already
It hurts how accurate this is
If someone told me "Did you know, it takes less muscles to smile than it does to frown?" I'd respond with "Oh that's cool!" and think that was a random fun fact. I still thought that was what it was supposed to be in the video until 30 seconds she said that.
Its not true though.
Smiling takes more muscles.
I'm autistic. I needed to know the truth once :)
@@EternalEris It did sound a little off! Good to know there's a fact checker :>
But the fact it was not small talk (arrogant narcissitic assumption) just a stranger pointing out she was scowling for no reason (possibly reaction to schizophrenic hallucination)
@@mkfaruki As a psychology major I have to ask, what the hell are you on about?
@@mkfaruki I guarantee, when most men tell a random woman to smile, it's not because they have any genuine concern for her, it's because they've been taught women have to look beautiful all the time, the sight of a woman frowning makes them uncomfortable, and they feel entitled to telling her to do something about it. They may think they're doing it to make her feel better (because they're also taught that women are supposed to want to be beautiful all the time, and that makes them happiest), or at least tell themselves that, and yet it won't. It's about power dynamics.
I haven't laughed out loud this much with a comedian in a while. Great job. You just gained a follower Hannah!
It is terrible
Wonderful show! Such good work! You don't bow down to the hate instead you used it creatively in this show, it was gripping throughout!
I'm happy there are comedians like you and it is great to be able to look up to a courageous and intelligent woman! Thank you for the stuff you do!
I love this person. I love them.
I can watch this over and over again and I will still laugh at all her jokes. Very witty and intelligent 💜💜 I'd love to be in one of her shows someday.🌈
Hannah Gadspy is the type of person that I would love to have an honest conversation. Yes I fall under the category of men that she’s not a fan of (Straight Middle Aged White Man) but I find her method of thinking to be intriguing and food for the soul. She is the type of person that you don’t encounter much…one that speaks truth like I do…difference being is she has zero fucks to give if others disagree with her. There is so much that I’d want to know as I think she can truly teach a lot if you’re able to take some shit and listen.
Yo how have I not heard of her before she is hilarious I had to pause the video several times because I was laughing too hard😂😂
She is funny as hell. Please give us more! This is what we need.
You have a horrible sense of humor
I just discovered a new favorite comic
LOL...the explanation of the pouch of Douglas is awesome! the best of any of my anatomy classes
Her style is amazing.
