    I do pike push-ups on the edge of a stair so my chin would go beyond my palm, for back bridge I mix holds an push-ups. Though I can only do it for 8-13 reps.

    Weightlifting isn’t the end all be all. Your idea of training is much for beneficial and useful in everyday life. Flexibility & Mobility IS strength and once you build from those even greater strength comes in time. I also agree. Weightlifting overall is slow strength. I definitely have lost some explosiveness that I’m gaining back with calisthenics and difficult bodyweight moves like you’re showing here.
    Thanks Lee

    After discovering this channel yesterday and watching a few videos, I become super excited. At 52 years old, I have been trying to get 'in shape' for the first time in my life but wasn't sure how to approach it. The ideas behind the paths laid out on this is nothing i would have ever thought of. But after watching and (listening) for a few hours straight, It all sounded so natural to me!
    But then the disappointment. As someone being extremely out of shape with very little strength and next to no flexibility, it was disappointing open a video titled 'the only 3 exercises you need' or 'do this for a strong core" only to find that each video contains instructions relating to the highest level of exercises. Little to no guidance on how to start, basic moves to master, beginner flexibility, etc.
    Either way, there is many sources of information once one has a clear goal. Thanks for that vision. I feel very motivated for the first time. Now i just need to put in the time to figure out how to start.

    • @LeeWeiland
      @LeeWeiland  Před 5 měsíci

      I give instruction in every video, including examples of basics (which is relative). But people don't want to hear the most important instruction: get individualized training. That's LITERALLY how all our students are doing this.

    Which video should I start with. I’m a 54 year old man I’m in decent shape and some what flexible but it seams like every year I start to hurt more and get a little stiffer. I work long days at fedex which keeps me moving ALOT but the sides of my lower back (QL) are really stiff and is slowly me down to do any real workouts. So where should I start ?

    Have you ever worked with someone stuck in right stance that's almost out of it? I've tried a lot things... improved my movement drastically. Tried mace swings... seemed to help at first. Then my shoulders started clicking. Stopped. Doing a lot of basic stuff you show. One shoulder more internally rounded and the other external. Side delts pretty imbalanced but my posture is a lot better thannit was. Can get my ribs to close together finally after years of trying, but need help carrying it over into bigger movements. Can't seem to find nuetral... I really need help tbh. I've come so far, but I also have a slight disc bulge in my neck. I need to fix my shoulders to protect it. I feel like it's possible given I can finally flex my serratus together... but nothing I do seems to completely work. I know there's no such as perfect and to some extend imbalances are normal, but it's caused me some real misery. My neck is imbalanced because of this and I am tired of being uncomfortable or in pain every time I work out. I seriously don't even feel comfortable carrying groceries. Towel pull ups help. One arm pulls on door ways from my feet touching the floor... not from dead hang... I need to protect my neck... I'm realising more and more the only way is to train the shoulder joint through all angles.. if I don't my delts will always be stuck in opposite rotation. The middle delt of my right is taking the blunt force and the front of the middle the left. My left lat, rear delt, and middle of the serratus are stronger on the left with a stronger glute maximus. The glute median is stronger on the right with a stronger front delt. Stronger at the elbow on the right than the left. The rib cage rotates more upward on the left. Problem really comes up in over head tricep extensions. I know this can be fixed and I know I've got to be close... but I'm tired of this. I don't care about fixing it one hundred percent. Like I said some difference is normal.. but I need more stable more symmetrical shoulders. Part of it is probably due to anatonomy, upper chest attaches closer to the shoulder on the left... My legs are also imbalanced but figured out a system that seems to work for them... just need help unphucking my shoulders and neck.

    This guy has amazing balance and functional strength but I disagree with his explanation of punching power. That power is generated by weight shift and explosive body rotation. It is very closely related to pitching a baseball, hitting a golf ball, or throwing the shotput.
