This is my mind set , I am open to critique , Started using some of these to help my ultra marathon running , to correct bad habits that reveal themselves in the form of pain and discomfort after 30 or 40 miles . They have helped me exponentially in those endeavors ! I am locked into coming to your facility making the sacrifices to do so . I want to put in the work even before i can meet you in person and join your establishment . Make sense ? These are appetizers that make me hungry for the main course .
Again, thank you coach ... Omar Pena

@@peacefulbeast8386impact wears out the knees if. you repeatedly push past what you can safely and properly do.
It's not a given that these types of exercises necessarily break down your cartilage, but they do put you at an increased risk of injury. If your knees are unstable, of if you have a muscle imbalance, you will likely develop in injury. But if you habe perfect form, there's no reason you have to develop an injury.
So no, not everyone can do this type of training safely, but some people certainly benefit from higher impact exercises.

Brilliant video! Not only am I grateful for how much I learn from your channel, but the inspiration that comes along with it has literally changed my life. I actually dropped 80% of weight training, and have gone back decades to when I exclusively did bodyweight exercises.
At minute 5:30, you stated that you did heavy lifting from 1999 to 2007. Oddly enough, that was exactly my last stretch of time doing the same thing. It's really a shame that there's no place down here in in my part of So Calif where there is a training facility even remotely similar to yours.. and not exclusive to children.

I have a wrecked shoulder too, 2 surgeries. But I am training regardless. Look, your body will support you when it's 70 way better if you train - even 5 minutes a day, even light training is better than nothing. It's about progress, so don't give up! There are surely exercises to help you strengthen and develop your messed up knees/shoulders, you'll be happy you did years later. What you don't want to feel when you're old is regret for not training when you could. You got this!

Love it. Getting many ideas here. Primarily I love distance running and went barefoot/ minimalist about five years ago. The calves take a major beating. Now blessed with a calisthenics park right around the corner and next to the track, I have been doing full body routines. Also just recently I became even more aware of the importance of strong and springy calves/ tendons and started doing these straight body hops, much like rope skipping without the rope. Jumping off objects is a great idea which I am gong to try!

    Kicks,
    Single leg squats and lunges
Box jumps and single leg box jumps
    Impacts from tumbling
Heavy bag work with thunderous kicks exposing the body to 500 pounds plus weight repetitively
Move 1. Rebounding, punches off the ground or dropping and landing onto the ground with straightened legs.
    Bending knees reduces power
Elastic strength response, stretches the achilles tendon and flexes it involuntarily and strengthens it through repetitive striking. The strength is probably not noticeable on the outside.
Be careful with these moves because they could lead to injuries.
Depth jumps, jumps going down wards, ie 🦘 off a box onto lower ground, with straight legs. Strengthening the legs and body through twice the body weight conditioning the legs, core and entire body, making it supreme over free weights or industrial equipment.
    Mobility
    1. W Sits, sitting with legs bent out and backward, with arms straight and horizontal.
    2. Stalder pulses, sitting or levitating with legs wide and straight straight, with both arms in between legs raising the entire body, pulsing the legs up and down,
    3. Leg lifts, laying down or sitting and leaning back and then raising the upper and lower torso together in the air.
Any mainstream exercises are valuable given certain caveats, be mindful of holistic training that result in sustainability and athletic power.
Big compound lifts are valuable but forget all about the fine moter extremely nuance strength that end up becoming your weakest link and possibly causes catastrophic injuries.
Seated pulses. Strengthening hips, core, eventually transferring over to 540 kicks, ariels, corks,
    Move 3. Static and reps:
Horse stance. Lunges/lunge pulses with the arms forward together straight and slightly upward.
Hollow core: a static lunge with arms on your ears.
Sitting in low Squat, with arms straight, wide and slightly upward.
Jumping/leaping Squats and or weighted squats. Weighed lunges.
Box jumps, hollow back pushups, or hollow back box push ups.
V ups or v ups on the block. Allowing the arms and legs to move downwards.
    Handstand or wall handstand.
Box jumping or narrow horse stance.
Rebounding, jumping or jumping down from a box with straight legs.
Leg iron cross, standing in splits with arms upward or on the ground.
Body types. For ectomorphs, adding weights would help out.
For endomorphs, they add on fat and muscle quickly, so their body weight will likely be enough for the exercises at first.

When I was 17, I leapt from the upper floor into a squash court to clobber the guy on the court who was disrespecting me. It hurt, but no way was I gonna let on. I've only ever been a lifter, and for a time I was also one of our city's scariest street-fighters. I developed my own unique fighting style to incorporate my strength and my ability to pick someone up, lift them high, and bring them down hard. Of course I only ever used the "elite level" techniques I'd worked up when fighting for my life or against multiple opponents, never in good-natured brawling.
From age 15, I used to get home from high school every day, take my shirt off, and do 50 freehand squats, 50 pushups, 50 lying leg raises, and 50 situps, then I'd head out into the back yard to the mango tree and bang out 15 or more chinups. Then it was back to the patio where my weights were kept, and I'd do standing presses, power cleans, etc until my mother called me inside to have dinner. With my long arms folks used to say I looked like a gibbon on steroids! But I never touched the stuff. As I began to fill out, though, slowly and surely I changed to look like a full-grown silverback gorilla!

I got scolded most my life for going slow on movements. Not fast enough. They were half right. I was taking my time and exploring each movement. Years later i express my movements clearer, faster, and stronger then them. I still do them slow most of time tho.

Yes for depth to bent leg landings and definitely for skateboarders. Snowboarders always land on a slope so it doesn't have the perpendicular impact, but still same concept yes.

In my youth, in the army in full gear, rifle in hand (20 pounds +) I could jump from 8 or 9 feet. No problems. Now at 65, it's difficult step down the side walk. My knees have no spring anymore and arthritis rules my life. It's like dry wood. Anyway, watching these videos is very interesting. I follow some advice, do more calisthenics (I still need a 20 pound counterweight, down from 60) and started stretching. I feel much better, way much better in my upper body. But for the legs, I don't think that I can jump anymore. I'll stick to dead lift and leg press. I don't even dare squats, I don't want my knee to collapse with 200 pounds on my shoulders. I'd like to do a couple of cession live with these guys just to see what's the domain of the possible.

I'm 55 years old and really need to do something about my physical health. Even though I'm eating relatively well. I am beginning to understand that exercise is also a necessity. The truth is I'm not overweight but am seriously out of shape. It's weak joints and weak muscles. But I don't know what to do to rebuild my skeletal muscles. From what I am seeing I need to jump around but it looks really painful and for me I'd probably break something trying some of those flips. Would really like to talk with some one that could give me some advice. I do see some things that I can do, like those squats and lunges. Will try the pulse but man that looks really hard and I have no flex ability at this time. So, I'll probably have to work my way up to that. I guess for now it's squats, lunges, handstands, really small box jumping, jump rope, leg lifting and pull ups, including hanging from a pullup bar. I've subscribed to your channel and will let you know how it's going in a month. I do have a knee injury at the moment. I fell off my bed and twisted it. But I should be good to go very soon as it is getting better every day. I will make sure to start very slow, and I know its going to take time. But at this point in my life I can afford to waste any more time. Thank you for sharing some of the basics regarding your training method. Thanks once again...
