I just set up my 15 gallon betta planted tank a few days ago, now I’ll just let it cycle for a while before I get the betta. Thank you for educating me about how to care for a betta fish. About 50% of my knowledge about betta fish comes from you lol.

Our betta loved being solo in his 45 gallon tank. Used every inch of it. So great to see him swim around happily! I wish more people could see how much room they actually use when it's provided for them.

I’m a new betta fish owner and for me, fish keeping so far has been 50% buying stuff for the fish and 50% worrying about the health of the fish
Same. I'm relatively a new fish keeper. So much to learn... And buy. My wife was all in with me getting into this hobby until she found out all the things that I had to buy now she's not so happy about it. She does not like me buy any plants so I have a few and I just have to keep trimming the ones I have so it's going to take a long time for me to cycle a tank.

I felt so disappointed in myself and it wasn't even my fish
I started off with my first betta in a horrible half gallon tank then got another betta and put it in the same thing but I moved that betta into a 2.5 gallon then I did MORE research and realized she wasn’t happy bc she didn’t have a heater, filter or anything and now she is in a 20 gallon all to herself with everything she needs🥺🥰

Its been there for 5 minutes now and its doing GREAT. Its even doing tricks, rolling over on its back so adorably.

that "aquaponics" setup actually looks really nice, but they could easily get the same effect by just filling that bowl with old aquarium water to feed the plants, while keeping their betta in a decent sized tank separately.

I posted asking about a health problem with my betta on a fb group because there are some good people on there, and I briefly explained her background and the postal mistake that nearly resulted in her death, mainly so they'd know that a) I haven't neglected her, and b) what her problems could be. All the comments were Karen's telling me to demand a refund 🤦🏼♀️ At this point I don't care about the money, I'm just happy she's alive. Also it was the postal services fault and this brilliant breeder shouldn't have to suffer from the postal services mistakes. But yes shows that I'm fb group members care more about themselves and money than the fish they're taking care of...
I'm getting back into the hobby for the first time since middle-school when I had a 2g plastic tank my mom bought for my betta. He lived for two years and blew bubbles but he did not have a filter or a heater, I was just very attentive I guess. Absolutely crushed when he died and didn't get more because I thought it was my fault since he looked young to me.
Now I'm building a planted 5 g with all the bells and whistles. So excited.

If you don't already have your own subreddit where subscribers can post their tanks and ask for advice or share their own experiences, you should definitely consider it! I really loved Anders' setup at @2:40 and would've loved to learn more about it. Sometimes I wonder what plants someone used in their setup. Would be a cool place for people to get actual sane/ethical fishkeeping help.

Yeah my dad really can't stand going out to Wal-Mart at the moment since you have so many people running around who are show casing their inability to wear a mask by leaving their nose and sometimes even their mouth uncovered.

Im glad I found you, I rescued 2 goldfish in a ten gallon that’s the owner could not take care of because she didn’t know what the cycle was so she just put in the fish, after I talked to her she asked if I could take them and now they are in a nice pond :)

I had a Betta that traveled across country in a Styrofoam container, survived. Survived being in the teeniest "fishtank" ever for 5 years. It was little more than a cup. That poor fish, seeing how little I knew about keeping fish as a 13 year old.

At least tannin is a temporary problem. For me, my tank is a yellowed 15 gallon plastic tank with tons of scratches that my neighbours threw out. No amount of scrubbing with toothpaste, baking soda or vinegar can make it clear. I'm still wondering if I can still scape such a flawed tank and have happy fishes😥🥺

Whats sad is the system at 11:50 is a good system if you do it in conjunction with a larger tank and the proper set up in addition. I ALWAYS have pothos growing out of the top of my tanks because they LOVE nitrates and grow so well for me in tanks, but ya gotta have all the other stuff too.. like Literally, in Yogya(supermarket) there's a 1000 G tank with about 15 small fish (tetra and rainbow) and a bunch of different species of plants, taking care off, clean water, big filter, maintenance every week.

The first one, that's why I got rid of my fish for now until I can train Misty more. I ALWAYS kept them in places where she couldn't get to them when cleaning the tank. So far robotic fish have worked great and she hardly pays any attention to the hospital tank (1.5 gallons. I used it when Crusoe got fat from eating the Cory food and didn't want to swim so he sat in his log). Misty is HARDLY able to swim and the last thing I needed was her drowning in my aquarium.
This SSC thing makes me feel like I'm an agent and I like it.❤️
In the natural blackwater tank you can see at least one fish! It's facing us straight on, so it kinda disappears into the backdrop.
EDIT: Oh! And I think I see another one camoing with the background. Really cool tank! The fish aren't right in your face, you have to look for them! :D

Secret Comment Club. I was doing a water change the other day, and vacuumed the gravel. A bunch of baby fish came along for the ride. Luckily I don't go straight to a drain. I used a syringe to suck them up. Got them into a breeding cage. Danios jumped in and ate all but one. A week later, next water change. I now have another dozen baby fish in the breeding cage. I'm guessing there are a tonne of baby fish hiding in my gravel, and then they pop out at some point and get eaten. Now to figure out if they're Pygmy Cory's, or Leopard Danios. Eggs are clearly being laid under and behind the wood log, as I've never seen them.
I started watching when I was researching how to set up my own planted tank. I now have a thriving 36 gal planted community tank (neons, corys [#corygang], and some shrimp!) with the centerpiece fish being a mustard gas betta! Thanks Chris for making the hobby fun and achievable!

Basically, i have my one tank set up right now, and a pond. Not sure what to do about either, and no forum really seems keen to help.
I commented on the video with cat falling in the vase on Facebook and people got mad at me for saying that they should have never put fish in a vase in the first place. Imagine coming home from work to find that your cat drown and it was your fault. That's just straight up negligence and stupidity.
