@Anet Skálová yeah I mean- of course you could just get some from outside to use if your budget's low, but you have to check them for calcium carbonate leaking and then you have to boil and dechlorinate them to clean them, and it's kind of a hassle. Plus where I live it's just a bunch of marshes, I can't really find any cool ones like slate, quartz or Oko stone.
@@snakewithapen5489 the boiling isn’t really necessary and can cause the rocks to explode from internal air bubbles. Drying them in the sun for a few days is more than enough 👍🏼

Also my betta made his first bubble nest last night and I feel bad about it because today is water change day lol, I didn't touch it but it got destroyed anyway 😭 my poor boy's hard work

I've had my crested gecko just over a year now and she still has her tail
So ppl act like it is hard for crested geckos to keep there tails I’ve had mine in a house with three loud siblings and he is completely fine
It’s not difficult to house a crested gecko where it doesn’t feel stressed enough to drop its tail. Just do what you’re supposed to and your gecko likely won’t drop their tail.
I may not have a cremated gecko but I do have a leopard gecko but like CRESTED GECKOS ARE SOOOOOOO CUTE

My heart was warmed at petco when I stopped in for some fish food.

I actually kept a goldfish in a one gallon bowl when I was 12 cause I didn’t know,and it was a impulsive purchase I made because I love animals but my 12 year old self didn’t research and Goldie died after a month.I got Goldie and his supplies at Walmart.he was my first fish and then I got a betta that died after 13 months Because of fin and tail Rot(that I was treating) and his name was Finn and then I got two more bettas (girl and boy) and a ten gallon tank for them since the previous betta was in a five gallon.

my turtle climbed out once, she was fine thought even know she fell pretty high. lets just say there is now an extra wall now.
It happened to me also that's why my turtle tank has a top lid now
Same with mine as a baby it the middle of the night and it was so hard to find her. This was 5 years ago and I had to go wake my dad to help me find her. She’s fine now. 😂

To be fair, goldfish aren't actually "cold water fish" (I still wonder where that assumption came from), in fact they're more active and grow faster in warmer waters. They're very adaptable overall to different water temperature ranges and as long as the water has good aeration and is clean they will thrive. Some goldfish keepers even recommend having a heater with fancy goldfish varieties, especially to encourage growth!
@@flora-tea the goldfish once was bread from the Cassius gibelio, which is located in creeks of middle Europe. This water really seldom gets over 21°C

Yea it really is annoying when random people try teaching you lol. My friends mom saw I had a community tank and said “what are you gonna do with all those fish” (I had 4 guppies in 10 gals)
The proper answer is 'I'm gonna feed them and love them!' I guess.
I kept fish ages ago with my dad, and we didn't know a lot so there was some trial and error, which sucks cause we had some casualties.. I had so many people give us bad advice though, some worked at pet stores and others didn't. The best silliest two I can think of: "tiger barbs aren't aggressive at all you can definitely put them in with your guppies and angelfish!" And, "common plecos and African cichlids are perfect for a forty gallon!" Tell me why we had to give both our pleco and our cichlid to a fish store so they could chill in the *giant* wall tank they had then? Our pleco was almost as long as the whole tank after only 4 years! He was just a little baby when we bought him, they grow so fast..
Also my cichlid (who I named Andre the giant haha) was almost eight inches long last time I saw him! (I don't live in that city anymore but I wouldn't be shocked if they still had him cause they can live a very long time.) Crazy!!
I also used to know a guy who kept piranha!!! HE HAD 60 GALLON TALL TANKS WITH MULTIPLE HUUUGE PIRANHA IN THEM. VERY TALL TANKS, THEY COULD BARELY MOVE. It was awful. Wouldn't you want a river fish in a long tank? So they can, you know, move?? The way he cleaned his tanks too... He'd do 3/4 water changes, and scrub the glass with soap and such, every single week.. he didn't know what a nitrogen cycle is either. Last I saw him he wanted an eel and an arowana... :C

Easiest way to have a backup for your aquarium is a simple off the shelf UPS. They come in all sorts of sizes to suit most setups, and all you have to do is plug your stuff into it, and it into the wall. It will seamlessly and automatically switch to battery power when the mains power is cut.

@@verybarebones I just use Karen for anyone who acts entitled. Also, Karen is also used to describe a suburban white woman that harassed people. In the fish community, a Karen is just those types of people who give their kid a goldfish in a bowl for their birthday. It’s not meant to be completely serious though, so take it with a grain of salt :)
I'm so late to this and idk if anyone has mentioned this, but I've heard from Reddit users that they used smaller containers temporarily for their bettas so that the container can be kept warm by a candle alone. Imagine heating up a 5-20 gallon tank up using just a candle with weather cold enough to freeze water. So the betta in that picture may not have been abused, it was just temporary life support.

The Texas blackout was something else. I thought I was going to lose my bettas. It really looked like they weren't going to survive. But, they went into some sort of stasis mode almost. Or that's what I called it. Where the temps got down to like 12 or less in their tanks. When the power finally came back after four days, I turned the lights on, as their heaters came back on. And as the water gradually warmed up, they became active again. And managed to pull through. My plants on the other hand... well. I'm just glad that my boys lived.

My fish tank is a mason jar, except there is no fish, no filter, just some baby pond snails, 2 adult fingernail clams, sand, a rock, and an isopod.

I was thinking of doing a "crested gecko scape" in my 15 gallon with Auto misters, plants and everything but I decided to use it to upgrade my fish instead.
As someone who really love and own a turtle, seeing that turtle fall and the owner just do nothing before that, make me want to slap that girl with some cuttlebone 😠.

Sometimes I forget that people keep Bettas in those tiny tanks bc when I was little (I think I was like 5-6) my grandma got me a beta fish and it came in one of those little tanks from the store but my mom bought a 5 gallon tank to keep it in, just wish more parents and literal adults would have more common sense when taking care of fish
I got a feeder goldfish kept her in a bowl for 2-4 days then moved her into a 10 gallon I didn’t want to get any more feeder goldfish because I was scared about them spreading any illness or diseases. she’s thriving
ahhh I don't even want to think about all the fish that died in the Texas power outages. Power was out at my house for over 48 hours, but my goldfish just went to sleep once they got cold and woke up when it got warm again. My plants on the other hand were not a pretty picture. The crypts are coming back with new leaves, but pretty much everything melted.
I can tell you love your crested gecko. I love that last scape with the rocks.

I live in Sri Lanka and almost all our LFS have bettas in jars that are on top of arowana tanks
Guys a trick I have for black outs is get a hand held bike pump and air tube attach it to the pump and put an air stone at the end I pump each tank from 10 gal to 125 with it and I had a black out for two days straight all my tropical fish stayed well and for heat I've learned shrink wrap or plastic. Wrap along the top and sides help keep the heat in

Awesome video! The Crested gecko is an amazing touch 👏 I have a bearded dragon, veiled chameleon and leapord gecko along with my shrimp and fish in my room.
A rainforest type of scape is really excellent for a Crested Gecko habitat, which will offer the opportunity for this fabulous creature to to jump onto branches, lap up dew droplets, and search for food underneath foliage.
what I did for my fish was cover the tanks with blankets, put on the old thermometers(since electric ones didn't work without power) and floated bags of warm water in the tanks. Kept it from dropping below 68. Thankfully, I didn't lose any fish.

I just rescaped my Flex after breaking the sand cap on my Walstad... sympathize with me! I also need to redo my crested geckos' enclosures - they have two PVC enclosures set up with a Mist King, but I feel the need for custom backgrounds.
I just got a set of aquascaping tools in for about € 15,- from Amazon. Won't need them for a while (flat renovation first, setting up tank later) but compared to what these tools cost in aquarium shops it's a really good deal! And I might browse there for more stuff like tools for water changing (one I won't need to suck the hose for *YUCK!*).
