  • This video is long overdue. Check out all the gear I have crammed into my garage gym in this first-ever tour of GymCrafter HQ. The cool thing about this tour vs. many others on CZcams is that this is my actual gym. I train in here 6 days a week and I also train clients here. No fancy fluff or useless extras. Just the gear we all use and love. (okay, there might be a few useless extras)
    You can see a mostly complete list here, along with links to the mfr. for each piece:

    I want to be strong and fit so I can take care of my disabled daughter and she gets older and heavier. So task like moving her from the bed, to her wheelchair or the shower etc are easier and I am not causing myself injury. I sit all day everyday at a computer for work I need to keep strong. Home gym has given me that option. Always nice when you find a reviewer who is honest and open about their goals and motives.

    Total respect that the gym isn't something you love but for some of us it is our bike or our golf. I love it and being strong and swoll. I also have kids and love running around with them. I'm 45 and healthier and stronger and in better shape than when I was 25. To each his own

    I’m glad you talked about the REAL purpose of having a home gym “training for the purpose to have mobility in your later years of life”. Let’s face it if you don’t have mobility when you’re older you’re screwed. Big muscles and six pack abs will go away as such aesthetic are not sustainable. But being able to stay in shape to do the simple things in life is priceless.
    Love the content.

      Thank you! Too many people skip working out because they think it's for looks and only when it's too late do they realize what lifting would have done for them later in life! I appreciate the comment!

    Love my power blocks but the rest of adjustable dumbbell world has certainly caught up imo. Fun video

    • @GymCrafter
      @GymCrafter  Před 3 měsíci +2

      I keep trying new ones and every single time I think how much more I like the PowerBlocks. I get that people don't like the cage design, but it's honestly never gotten in the way of doing anything for me. I've had mine for over ten years and they work like new. Drop them all the time with no issues as well.

      @@NoFate247 true about the price. But still much cheaper than a fixed set of dumbells, and much smaller foot print

    • @GymCrafter
      @GymCrafter  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I@MrPanthers23 I 'm a huge gear dork, I'm tempted by everything! The thing I always ask myself is "how is this better than what I already have?". And not matter what set of adjustanbles I look at, the only answer when compared to PowerBlocks is they are round and don't have the cage handle design. For me, I prefer the square shape as I use them to anchor bands and round dumbbells roll away too easily. As for the cage, it's never bothered me. Now for the next question... "How are these worse than what I already have". All of a sudden, that list is usually huge.... Can't drop them, they roll away, they don't adjust in small enough increments, they are WAAAAAY too wide when loaded heavily, they don't have enough weight potential, and on and on (not all that applies to the Pepins, but some does). Then I look at the prices these days and every time I stick with my 10+ year old PowerBlocks.

    Nice gym. I especially like your ending where you discuss why you exercise. It's very important to work out to be healthy so you can do the things you want to do outside of the gym. I get it and I can also relate to your speaker reference since I'm about your age. I still have my 12" speakers and I think KEF speakers are awesome.

    That is a super nice garage gym. Do you allow your friends, and family to use your garage gym? Not a lot of people can afford to join a commercial gym with their joining, monthly, and annual fees. Also, the upfront costs of equipment, and the space for a home gym.
    I started a garage gym with 62 of my family, friends, and friends of friends. Back in the 90's, there were no mail order commercial gym equipment companies. You had to go to a sporting goods store, and their home equipment were 2 inch by 2 inch. We slowly moved up to Excalibur High Polish 304 Stainless Steel Equipment. I live in San Francisco, near Ocean Beach, and the days/nights are full of fog and drizzle.
    Stainless steel does not chip, peel, or rust and can be re-polished to a mirror finish.
    You have a lot of different expensive Olympic barbell bars. I hope to see more of your videos. Take Care.

      Thank you! I am actually starting again from scratch and building an even more fully equipped gym. It's crazy that you posted this as what you say is exactly why I'm doing it! There is a great company called GOrX that's like an air bnb for home gyms. They call them "microgyms". AFter my build out is done, i will be training people full time in my gym as well as allowing people to book "rack time" so they can come work out without the crowds, etc. Check out GOrX, they've got a really cool thing going!

      @GymCrafter  Před 3 měsíci

      Thank you! That message at the end is something I want to get out as much as possible. Too many people training to look a certain way. What they don't realize is that if you train for function and health, you'll also end up looking pretty damn good too. The only reason I have that many bars is that GymCrafter is my full time job. If I didn't have my site and YT channel, I'd only have two: The Rep Black Diamond bar and the American Barbell Chewy bar. And quite honestly, I could easily do everything with the Rep bar and save the $700 the AB bar costs.

    Great ending message! I’m well past my prime to get huge. I enjoy lifting for the exercise and stress relief. I feel better physically and mentally. And the six pack is over rated. You’ll look small in clothes and obsess over macros.

Even harder to maintain unless your genetically gifted. And you are 100% right, once you are there, it's absolutely miserable.
