    Love the “find your why” discussion. Probably a grossly underasked answer undervalued thought exercise

      Thanks, Kurt! It's fun to see people'e eyes light up when they finalize realize how training can be meaningful to them specifically. And as a trainer, I see consictency absolutely skyrocket when they do!

    I have been suffering from chronic migraines since the age of ~13, I am now 24. These headaches all but ruined my life. I was insanely unfit, and at 16 at the worst of it, 100lbs overweight, I lost the weight but never did more in terms of actually getting fit. Your story inspired me to be consistent and actually do something about it, inspiration which I only last felt on the start of my weight loss journey, thank you for this

      Wow, that's so amazing to hear! I'm sorry you are dealing with those headaches. I always counted myself lucky that mine wasn't at migraine intensity. So glad to hear you are going to be working out. Start small and build on that habit! I genuinely wish you the best and hope it helps you as much as it did me!

    Find your why; solid advice. Nice first video .Everyone's gym is going to be different and that is okay as long as you actually use it. I suggest surrounding yourself with some gym equipment so you are constantly staying motivated. I agree having some form of indoor cardio is important.
    I have been working out to stay fit and avoid my family history of heart attacks off and on since i was 22. In 2018 i started my home gym because i found a house with a detached garage that would be perfect for my home gym. I have stayed focused and worked out everyday and enjoyed it. At age 47 i had a massive heart attack anyway. After that i focused on the one part of the puzzle i avoided because i hated it... cardio. My bedroom and living room have various cardio machines to keep me focused on using them. I still lift weights but now i do cardio first (7 days a week 30 minutes a day). My why consists of two things. 1) weight training because i have always enjoyed it 2) cardio and eating super healthy (despite never being fat) because i dont want another heart attack. Later this year i turn 50 and have no intention of skipping cardio or weight training (even if i don't always lift heavy).

      Wow, what an awesome comment! I think a lot of people will relate. I see people often love one or the other and never do the one they haven't found a way to enjoy yet. I'll be spending a lot of time trying to expose people to different modalities in an effort to help them find something they can be consistent with! And since you've been training that long, you are so much better set up to enter your 50's! The difference between a 20 year old that trains and one that doesn't is small. The difference between a 50 year old that trains and one that doesn't is massive!

    Im 50 years old and started a massive diet and also started my home gym. I am a heart attack survivor, on my second pacemaker and have a lymphatic system disorder. 2 Tia strokes so I know what it’s like getting into weight training with a disability.
    Last June i was 276 lbs and now 208lbs. I also follow basement Brandon, Gluck, Coop, Dr mike, Jeff Nippard etc . A lot of inspiration for building my gym and keeping the weight off.
    Some things I should have learned before buying some parts of my gym, but hopefully ill replace them eventually.
    Keep up the good work
    Jim

      That's so great to hear that you've done all that! Losing 70 lbs is no small feat at all! Thank you for posting this comment, there are so many people out there that need to hear your story and others like you. Strength training truly changes lives and doing it at home makes it much easier. You are following some really amazing people! Thanks for watching, I appreciate it! And best of luck going forward!

    Awesome story my friend. I have not had the level of medical issues you’ve faced but have battled extreme job related stress and have found that weight lifting is almost a miracle cure.
    Thank you for all you do for the community I’ll look forward to more of these!

      Thank you! I truly believe that EVERY person should be lifting and I hope we get there some day. the world has spent hundreds of years and trillions of dollars looking for "miracle drugs" and lifting has been there in front of us all the time. There really is very little that can improve your life more!

    Fun content! Keep it going!
    One suggestion: please put time stamps on the video. That way if there is a topic I am interested in I can jump to it.
    This is my first time seeing your content, and it's awesome but most people will click on to look at the specific topic they are interested in and if they can't get it quickly they will click off!
    Best of luck to you!

      Thank you and I totally agree. I will be adding that going forward. As I ramped the channel back up, part of the way I was able to make it a habit and not burn out is to eliminate a lot of that kind of stuff as editing takes FOREVER in the first place. Now that I have some processes in place and I'm getting faster editing, I can start adding some things like this.
      I love this type of feedback as I make this stuff for you, not me. If there is ever anything you think can make it better for people, please don't hesitate to let me know! Now to figure out how to make time stamps...😂

    Appreciate the info. A suggestion topic is how to approach sale of one’s own used equipment. I struggle with this, primarily with the price points to find the midpoint where both myself and a buyer seem satisfied. Will keep watching your channel

      Agree! I'm selling a ton of stuff right now and have some great tips. I'm trying to decide whether or not to make it its own episode or to put it in with the finding space in your home for a gym episode since part of me making space for my current project is selling a ton of what I already have. It'll be somewhere though! And thanks for the idea, I make this for you, not me and I always love to hear what people would like help with!

      That's such a huge goal! I don't ever want to have to rely on someone else or be a burden. And yeah, if you want to see those places the right way, you walk... a lot! Such beautiful cities that you completely miss if you drive everywhere!

    Like the topic! One thing I would like to see is an active list of items with clear “bought” vs “provided by company for review” classification. I always like to see who has what and why they might have it.

      100000%!!! I like that idea so much, I already did it!😁 I didn't publish the video publicly, but I put it on my "how I review products" page here: gymcrafter.com/review-guidelines/ . This is one of my biggest concerns and I'm hyper aware of making sure I earn people's trust over time. Lemme know what you think and if I covered it completely.

    Liking the content, bit of an echo going on maybe changing up the mic could help improve the sound quality for the podcast?

    • @GymCrafter
      @GymCrafter  Před 3 měsíci

      A bit?!?!? It sounds like I'm deep in a cave! You should hear the audio before I processed the snot out of it! 2 things that really bothered me when watching this is the echo and how many times I slap my legs and hands. Really distracting. I use a different mic in the next episodes (I have 4 more recorded already) and I'm working on the slapping thing, but it's how I naturally show emphasis. Always looking to get better, and thanks a ton for posting this! If there's anything else, please let me know!

    Did you figure out the root cause of your headaches?

    • @GymCrafter
      @GymCrafter  Před 3 měsíci

      I was managing a team of 50+ salespeople doing low 9 figures in business annually. It was 100% the stress of that job. I was very good at it, but it was no good for my health. 6 months after I quit, the headache went away.

    What is the difference between a podcast and the videos you make?? I'm not a social media guy so I dont know, I thought your channel was a podcast

    • @GymCrafter
      @GymCrafter  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Great question!!! So my main content is made for viewing and has a lot of editing to make it more engaging. A podcast is a deeper dive into the topic, no editing, and I try to make it so you can just listen and not have to watch. Once I have 10 episodes published, I'll be stripping the audio out and posting it as a podcast on Spotify, Apple, etc. I like that format as I listen to a lot of podcasts while I drive or do other things. Can't really do that with YT videos that require you to watch them.

    Having a son that goes to a neurologist, I can confirm that they are absolutely worthless.

    • @GymCrafter
      @GymCrafter  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Amen to that! No one knew what to do. I'll never forget when my first neurologist referred me to the Mayo, she said, "I'm out of ideas and think you need to see someone else like the Cleveland Clinic or the Mayo. I'm happy to write you a recommendation for either one." That was after a full year of seeing her. So disappointing. Hope things are going okay with your son. I don't think most people realize how awful it is when your brain stops working the way it's supposed to. I'll keep you all in my prayers.
