If George Lucas himself doesn't care about Star Wars, why should should we. Disney has destroyed it. They are only kicking a corpse at this point.
I didn't watch Star Wars because of George Lucas. I watched it because it was a quasi-religious sci fi series.
Unless DEI gets defeated, we will never get good movies ever again.
I hate to break this to you they are using their third small foot.
@n4ughty_knight same. Never cared about George. I was always in it for wizards in space with some actual meaningful dysfunctional family context and religious prophecies.
I actually fully gave up when sightseers stopped cutting off limbs. I was like, yup, only a woman who knows nothing of this franchise made that fucking decision ughhh. In the future fellow nerds, just gatekeep 100. When I was in uni I wanted to join this frat. Everyone of the people in said frat I asked about joining or what not, I was always met with a level of gatekeeping im gonna apply to my hobbies now. If you don't know about joining a frat, well, you have to start at 0 and find out everything you wanna know on your own, all of it. Wanna know where to even start, better figure that out on your own and that's how we gotta handle gatekeeping from now on. No more letting weebs into the fold.
Star Wars is NOT about Good vs Evil
Yas, Yas, YAS.
"There is no good or evil." That point of view completely benefits evil, but that's probably just a coincidence.
🎯
“There is no good or evil” That’s what Harvey Weinstein’s assistant thought when she was bringing aspiring actresses into his office.
These are the kinds of things you tell yourself when you're working for Harvey.
That's what amateur screenwriters who don't know how drama works say
If someone wants other people to believe that "there's no good or evil" you can be sure they won't do anything good.
A blood vessel burst in my brain when Charlie Barnett said, "The best parts about Star Wars is there is no good or evil. It depends on what side you're standing on." *Dude! Were you repeatably dropped on your head as a child?* That's like saying "Apocalypse Now" wasn't about war, or "The Godfather" wasn't about a mafia family.
Actually, there might be grounds to say that Apocalypse Now isn''t about war. It's a retelling of Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness, only with the setting changed from Africa to Vietnam. It's the same story with different trappings. Certainly there's war going on. It's a great movie. But the war is the backdrop, not the core of the story. Although it's been a while since I read/watched either so perhaps my interpretation isn't quite as valid as I feel.
None of that changes the validity of your statement. Star Wars, at least the core of the franchise, has always had a very strong dividing line between good and evil. It may recognize that there may be good within evil characters, Vader being the prime example, as well as evil in Good characters, such as... well, I guess Vader again, just when he was still Anakin which it means it's possible to both fall and be redeemed. You don't start to wonder about good and evil until you get into some of the extended universe characters. Consider Grand Admiral Thrawn, who for a time ruled the Empire before he was assassinated by his bodyguard. Thrawn was one of the most dangerous foes of the New Republic, which while not perfect was still firmly on the side of Good. When he's introduced, he's the main antagonist. He's in command of the Empire, which is the evil faction. But he himself is definitely not evil. His motives are reasonable and even admirable. He believed in security and safety and order through power, and the Empire as the best chance to, essentially, keep the galaxy safe. He could be harsh and cold but never indulged in the sort of casual cruelty that saw Vader execute officers for displeasing him. He is in short an antagonist quite akin to the WW2 German general Rommel, whose character was such that in the midst of war the British parliament observed a moment of silence upon learning of his death. Yet he remains the antagonist.
At least this was the state of affairs when Disney declared the entirety of the extended universe to never have happened.
I talk to much. The point is, your overall point is valid. This isn't 40k. Star wars at its heart has always been a tale of good vs. evil.

@@SiriusSphynxthe Jedi and the Sith, seems self explanatory
The concepts of good and evil are constructs of the mind. As Kreia has proven to us, both the Jedi and Sith have flaws; it’s just more apparent with the latter. As an example, the ways of the Jedi, if followed correctly, create individuals taught to not love, for it is a weakness, to not value your own life, for you must use to help others. You lead yourself on a path of self-destruction, that only ends when you die in battle or fall to the dark side.
If dehumanizing your students is your way of creating peace, very well, some may consider you to be “good,” but I don’t personally believe that.
The only righteous conflict in that universe is between normal people and the force.

This is one of the main reasons why I will skip this. That and the fact that it will probably suck just as everything else has. The fact that this woman was probably involved in that nasty business with HW and still gets promoted speaks a lot about the Hollywood mentality. That cast member who basically says that there is no evil side in SW. I see a lot of Hollywood storylines now championing the traditionally evil.
She's still working because she knows things. More than likely she has dirt on the people who blew the whistle on Weinstein. Hollywood is all about having leverage and cya tactics.
She's clearly not the only one to turn a blind eye and he's not the only abuser, just the scape goat/sacrifice. Keeping her mouth shut is exactly why she is still in the industry
Being a fat, woke, lesbian isn't hurting her cause either.
That she is still working is intentional. It's a "keep your mouth shut" reward. I only hope I live to see the comeuppance.
In the 70s, Francis Schaefer predicted this. This is a rough paraphrase: if you remove good and evil as boundaries of human behavior, all that is left is a society of force where the strong take from the weak and exploit the defenseless: the widow, the orphan, and the stranger.
Hear hear
We live in a satanic age where activists have successfully taken over our institutions and inverted the morality taught to the young. The cognitive dissonance of simultaneously being taught a deconstructive, nihilistic view of the world, followed by a very strict (and perverted) moral standard. Everything is relative and grey and meaningless, in order to lower people's inhibitions and defenses. Then once those vices are snuck through the door, the idea is pushed that everything that was bad is now good, and if you don't like it then you're bad. Our society is being destroyed.

As a woman - I don't feel represented, I feel apalled.
I don't know about the lie that she was asked what her favorite star wars film is.
Because this asshole straight up edited the clip for HIS theory.
When I hear that woman say her entire body of work is guided by her activism. I feel like we should start replacing the word with anger. Her entire body of work is guided by her anger. Her anger is prevalent in everything she does.. whether it is subtle or obvious, her anger is there.
I think the word activism is being used wrong now. I think these people mean anger, but they've masked it with the word activism.
100%
Well put. Their activism all too often is born of resentment and a desire to punish.
As they have masked their hatred for men with the word "Feminism".
I'm willing to cut her some slack on that because she's from Pakistan. Which is not exactly a great place to be a woman. But to come here, to the West, and view our men through that lens isn't fair and isn't reasonable.
Anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering.
"This is about power." Apparently nobody heard the term, "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely."

The narcissists who are making Star wars at the moment basically have psychological point of view of the sith.
If absolute power corrupts absolutely, you might have a problem with magnetic storage media.
There's one exception to all of this called "Rogue One" - in my opinion one of the greatest SW films ever made, up there with Ep. 5...
I've barely watched a single Star Wars or Disney movie since TLJ. When I left The Force Awakens, the crowd was buzzing. There was excitement, anticipation, people were speculating on the story. Who is Rey? Is Finn going to be force sensitive? What happened to Luke? Who is the Silver Storm Trooper? Who is Snoke?
When I left The Last Jedi, it was dead silent. The packed out theater...was silent as we all quietly filed out. They destroyed not only every interesting idea introduced in the previous movie, they destroyed the sequel trilogy, and they destroyed my connection to the franchise.
Let's put it in context. My first two memories are being two years old watching Empire Strikes back with the battle on Hoth, and playing with a Yoda toy. It was literally a part of my entire life. Growing up I had all the toys, most of the games, clothing, decorations. I was a Star Wars fan. Disney wanted to remake the franchise, and get rid of the old. Well they succeeded, they got rid of old fans like me. (I'm only in my 30s, they're idiots. I would be buying my kids Disney stuff if it weren't for their stupid self-centered view of the world.)

Professor Tolkien was right to distrust Disney, even when Walt was at the helm.
To be fair he didn't like anything but that's pretty English of him so based I guess. Love me smoke weed. Love being barefoot. 'Ate the continent. Not racist just don't like 'em.
Walt Disney was conservative, and cared about good wholesome family entertainment.
It was the liberal Jews, and now Kathleen Kennedy, that have ruined Disney.
Walt Disney literally supported Hitler up until WW2 started. He then did a pivot to producing anti-Nazi propaganda (look up the 1943 short _Der Feuhrer's Face_ on youtube if you want to see the craziness of Donald Duck yelling HH about 40 times) and I guess hoped people would forget his former support.
Different reasons. Very different reasons. Walt would hate what his company has become. Tolkien, well, I doubt he'd want either era of the company noodling with his work. Boiling his books down into a movie isn't something that he'd prefer, from what I gather about his mindset. I doubt he'd have even liked Peter Jackson's movies.

I stopped watching it after Matt Smith played him.
I was talking to a chap at work, and he mentioned that David Tennant was coming back to play the doctor.
I thought to myself I might actually download that from sources that will remain anonymous.

The villain-ess being a powerful misunderstood woman. Elsa really wasn't the villain in Frozen, but ok. In Kill Bill, she wasn't a misunderstood woman either. She was an assassin, who killed people for money, who was getting revenge on other assassins, who were, in the words of their leader "murdering bastards". There was a protagonist, but there were no heroes in Kill Bill.

I disagree on Kill Bill. Beatrice was the hero. She WAS an assassin. But she changed when she realized she was pregnant. She realized she didn't want to raise a child in that life. Disney officially destroyed Star Wars. Its over.... its all over. time to say goodbye.
Being born in 1970, Star wars changed my life. I dreamed of being part of that galaxy far far away. Now I just want it all to go away. So depressing.
Disney threw all their chips into the 'don't worry we'll get lots of new fans, forget about the middle-aged men' pile and it's now proving to have been a horrible decision for them. It was the original fans who have not just carried the flame through the quieter years but who spend the thousands of dollars on merchandise making it the valuable license that it 'was'.
this. id rather see the franchise die then having to watch them do whatever this abomination is supposed to be.
I was born 20 years later. Star Wars very much changed my life as well. No other film ever took ahold of me quite way Star Wars did with the characters, the weapons, the vehicles, everything. Even before the internet as a kid, I had to read anything and everything about Star Wars and bought and checked out every book I could. I loved that lore and even during the prequels theatrical run, I still enjoyed anything and everything about it, going so far as to write my own fan fictions I still hold a candle for to this day. All that changed in 2012. I knew from day one that Disney would ruin it. That somehow, someway, they would absolutely dismantle and water it down into an even worse state. I will admit, I was fooled with the Force Awakens thinking, "Well they're doing well with Marvel and it seems "fun", what could go wrong?" Then the Last Jedi came out. After that one, I "convinced" myself that it was good and I was just overthinking it. It honestly took a few days to see it for how bad it truly was. That really hurt. After that, I never saw another new Star Wars film (or new Indiana Jones film) in theaters. Nowadays, I can't believe I second guessed myself and even gave it a shot. Like you, I too am done now.

For me it died when they trashed the EU
I wrote it off the moment I learned disney for their necrotic hands on it. I'm just here to watch the necromancers force a failing skeleton to dance.
For me, Star Wars died the moment Phantom Menace hit my eyes. The only true Star Wars movies are the original trilogy. Everything else is just middling to poor fan fiction (although Rogue One gets a pass, for being the only one that captured the essence of the originals).
For me was the second that insufrable failure of actor killed Han-Solo, I simply told myself "Ok, they crapped on cannon, some of my happiest childhood memories and basic storytelling, screw this, I am out"
@@SirHilaryManfat Yes the opening 10m let alone 30m let alone 60m of TPM was all a death knell ⚰️🪦🌾
How the hell do these people still have jobs? How can they possibly go; you know what Star Wars needs Harvy Weinstien's personal assistant, another Rey movie, and more of "THE MESSAGE".
Its insane
US citizen keep going to movie theater and although the movie is a really bad movie and they are aware of it, "you know I had never miss one so I when" that give then the right of "Brag" endorsing this kind of behaviors by these mega companies... smh
@@TwinkingToby Its not insane when you understand what the ultimate goal is. That goal being to destroy culture, destroy morals, destroy boundaries physical and moral, Not for the good, but to enable and normalize pure evil degenerate behavior.

Don't underestimate the power of the stupid in large numbers and there are a lot of stupid people in the world that are completely malleable to any propaganda, social contagion, and "science is settled" narrative.
To me, Star Wars is only the first 6 episodes, rogue one, seasons 1-2 of the mandalorian, and the clones wars. That's it.
Bro..Yuh too harsh...hahahahahah...I died at "exactly what she said before leading them into his office"...lol
"Creating magic is not for amateurs." - This will go down in history as one of the dumbest quotes Potato Lucas ever made.
Um, wasn't he an amateur when making the first Star Wars? The love hate relationship with Lucas continues.
@@Beltzer0072 He did a lot for the progress of movie making. Yet look where he landed, people have every right for their feelings.
@@lightborn9071This right here is why The People vs. George Lucas is one of my favorite documentary films.
@@Beltzer0072 No, he wasn't. Full time director at the time, after "THX-1138" and "American Grafitti".
He's just bad.
The one behind the magic of Star Wars was Ralph McQuarrie. Lucas just plagiarized every fantasy/samurai gig he knew about. It worked because it had surprisingly engaging characters.
"potato lucas" made me laugh. very mean spirited, but it did make me laugh
Its like everyone's favourite grandfather died years ago and someone keeps digging him up and parading his corpse around expecting us to be excited for his triumphant return.
He was supposed to stop Disney, not join them. Bring balance to starwars, not leave it in ruins.
Enough people still go positively priapic each time they do for them to justify doing it again.
Exactly. And waving the corpses arm to try to make everyone believe it’s still alive.
And he was buried at Pet cemetery

The South Park part was perfect

Best part of the Acolyte trailer.
"Now open your eyes. What do you see?"
"Um, a 1990s Hong Kong Kung Fu movie with a load of obvious wire work masquerading as Star Wars?"
Seriously when did Jedi engage in unarmed combat like this? Nobody at Disney has the first clue about what Star Wars is and what it isn't. How difficult is it to study and adhere to what George Lucas established in 6 movies?

A little fanfic:
The Force is permeating all living.
The midichlorians are an engineered disease which focuses force to give heightnened, never before seen force powers.
Like surviving in space, regeneration, teleportation, and long-range telepathy.
It also causes delusions of grandeur, like being the grandchildren of palpatine and such.
Later it deforms in all infected force-users, as they literally become monsters, sometimes melding together into hideous hive-mind controllers.
And that's how the tyranids (or any dangerous aliens living in the rim) try to overrun this galaxy.
Jedi vs Sith was literally supposed to good vs evil lol
The Stars Wars we grew up with and loved dearly is dead. It's time for new creators to rise up and shine. Sometimes amateurs can create great things...right George?
Not just Star Wars, but most of the Hollywood we know is dead. How many amateurs in their lifetime created magical films that are timeless? Steven Spielberg with Jaws, Sylvester Stallone with Rocky, James Cameron with the Terminator, Tim Burton with Batman 1989, George Romero with Night of the Living Dead, Francis Ford Coppola with the Godfather and Brian De Palma with Carrie and later on went on to make Scarface. Films like those are hardly made anymore and those that do become huge successes. Movies like Godzilla Minus One, Super Mario Bros, Top Gun Maverick, Spider-Man No Way Home made movies fun again and movies like Oppenheimer still show serious movies can still tell deep stories while keeping the audience entertained. And contrary to popular belief, people still want to go to the movies. Just not bad movies like what MOSTLY gets pumped out today.
You would have to explain what great things an amateur George Lucas actually created for your statement to carry any weight.
The answer is: Nothing. Amateur Lucas created nothing great. - And that's not just a case of perspective: It's literally true.
Star Wars was not an amateur project.
Neither was THX-1138.
Neither was American Graffiti.
Have you ever heard of or seen any of his films he wasn't a working, paid director for?
Remember he created his company to make Star Wars _because_ he didn't like the professional machine - The professional machine he was a part of for creating his other movies beforehand.
Think about it and adjust your worldview accordingly and stop spouting such inanity. Lucas is nobody's hero.
It's been dead for 24 years, mate. We understood this with Phantom Menace. Just because someone made something worse, doesn't magically make the prequels good.
@@Beltzer0072 I found your list strange. Weren't Steven Speilberg and Copolla always part of "hollywoods new generation" of accepted directors? The only true amateur I see on your list is Stallone. All these other people were friends there are whole videos about Lucas having his film buddies help him with early cuts of Star Wars. I also don't see how everyone loves Super Mario while Wing Commander was so panned in it's time. Is it the nerd culture takeover? Like D&D movies are cool now right? You receive over the air updates like rdt reformats your brains at night I'm convinced.
On a totally unrelated note: the montage ending with Harry on the toilet 😂😂😂
Theyre just committed to running this to the ground man.
Not a bad idea. It's only entertainment and will not affect the price of food or medicine.
"This is not about good or bad. This is about power and who is allowed to use it."
That quote contains anything one has to know about modern entertainment made in Hollywood. This quote and Tolkiens "Evil can not create anything new, they can only corrupt and ruin what good forces have invented or made.” are the marking quotes of our time and should be chiseled in marble in a monument.
Moral relativism.
It goes beyond Hollywood entertainment. It's the underlying belief of the modern political Left. For them, everything is subjective, including morality.
It's also projection on their part. They view everything as an oppressor/oppressed dichotomy that requires revolution to overthrow the hegemonic power. In short, they are the Sith.
It's an evil quote, and fascist, it means, at it's core, that what you do with power doesn't matter, what matter to them is that the "right" people have power.
Completely agree. The value of Star Wars is it gave children a simple moral ideal. Hate and fear leads to evil, empathy and bravery is good. Moral relativism is fine for adults, who can understand shades of gray and multiple points of view, but it is not suitable for young developing minds.
I love how Gary adopted the "... and that's a good thing!" meme.
Use their language against them. If nothing else, it forces them to move on.
@@underthepale Where will she go from there, when she already has painted herself into a corner of "activism, racism, and sexual preferences," that essentially only underlines her own racism and sexual bigotry?
There's no coming back from that, no matter how many likeminded at Disney that supports it, - it certainly won't grant her the public redemption she's so desperately seeking after Weinstein..

Greg, congratulations on Your 1 Million Subs. *Well Deserved.* Please continue the Great work.
How can they get it wrong so many times? Insanity.
They are not "getting it wrong" - they are intentionally destroying it to change an entire generation to watch Disney trash. DEI money enables them to weather short-term losses. They don't care about audiences. Bob Iger is the main one responsible in my opinion - but of course George Lucas hammered the nail in the coffin.
Cuz why would they listen to the fans where they're clearly soooo right with their choices of how to write and direct shows. (Sarcasm)
Unless DEI gets defeated, we will never get good movies ever again.
Gina is funding them
At least they have great music this time 4:56

I was 11 years old in 1977 and queued for two hours in the rain with my older brother. And wow the memories are still there. If I did the same now I would want my money back.
I was 5 when I saw Star Wars, it was magical, it's hard explaining to a millennial how impacting a film could be and that's why the OT's legacy has lasted so long.
I was 16, and sick with bronchitis so bad I almost ended up in the hospital. Mom and Dad decided I needed to get out, and after church took me to see this cowboy in space movie at the big screen. It was the first week-end, and the theatre was half full. I was so weak I was wrapped in a blanket and wedge in a seat. I can still see my Mother duck as the star destroyer went over head.
We went back a week later with Mom, Dad, my sisters and a few friends, and every showing was sold out until like 3pm. Dad got tickets and we waited for 2 showings. It was packed!
Those are the memories that kkk and her ilk cannot destroy. It is also why they are so venomous about it. They will never create something that powerful, and it enrages them.
Seeing it in 1977 at age 9 and waiting hours in line, it was life changing. To me it was the only good Star Wars movie. The rest got progressively more silly. The more money and power Lucas had, the worse the movies became. Can't even begin to think about the Disney era. Only Rogue One was pretty good except for some of the goofy stuff - it captured some of that 1977 feel.
"close your eye"
"your eyes can deceive you"
"the lies we tell you also deceive but just ignore that"

Weinstein: Your journey to the darkside is complete!
Headland: Yes my master.
"Spank me Daddy...I crave your discipline."
I do agree there is only STAR WARS, a movie called STAR WARS in 1977... A movie so great, it tricked a generation into watching 10 lesser movies...
So I'm NOT the only one!!

I called the end of Star Wars when it was purchased by Disney. We didn’t all think it was a good idea at the time.

Exactly. Only those who are evil or crazy claim there is no good or evil.
Uh oh, looks like that actor didn't learn anything from Harry Potter.
"Tell me what you see." I see a fucking disaster
Kaiser Soze once said, "The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist."
Yes, that's right. Evil...is a point of view. Always, the most evil among us, are amoral, and try to convince the gullible masses to adopt the the value of no values. The devil's greatest deceit is convincing everyone he doesn't exist.
"This is not about good or bad. This is about power and who is allowed to use it." is usually accompanied by an analysis of the uses of power in terms of an assumed morality - a good or bad. Opening with "This is not about good or bad" is a sleight of hand meant to blind the hearer to the fact that _an alternate framing of good or bad is being substituted._ It pretends to be neutral, but is anything but: everybody has priorities, everybody sees some things as better than other things. Anyone who pretends otherwise is lying to you, or possibly themselves.
It's a freudian slip on part of the writers and Disney as a whole
What it does is reinforce the Satanic notion that morality (good and evil) is relative. This idea seeks to be non-judgmental so as to not "be mean". And THAT is what has gotten our civilization to the dumpster fire we find it in today.
@@zenksren8206Indeed, it's how they see the world. They don't understand Star Wars, they don't really even seem to understand morality in general. They just wear the Star Wars IP as a way to force their stories into audiences.
