-Experience directing a somewhat big budget film
-Experience in sci-fi/action/ and/or drama
-Knowledgable in the Star Wars Universe
-Being a huge Star Wars fan, wanting to expand on something they grew up loving
The requirements Disney needs:

-Female Director NOT MALE

Disney has lost its magic. If anyone still has old vhs tapes of the original Disney films, show those to your kids instead of taking them to Disneyland or Disney world. I would watch a Star Wars movie directed by Bryce Dallas Howard. Her episodes of The Mandalorian were well shot, had good pacing, tension, and were well written (especially compared to the others in season 2).

This very important context is what irritates me about people trying to “be fair” to her, saying that her infamous interviews were “just about Pakistani men and Pakistan”. Even drinker fell into that, it’s really saddening. Not that I don’t think it’s fair nor right to do one’s own research before jumping on a train of hate, but because people who aren’t raging lefties go out of their way to acquiesce and play nice with people who hate us and will never be satisfied. This woman wouldn’t have said “I enjoy making men uncomfortable” if she meant “I enjoy bringing up uncomfortable subjects concerning Pakistani women’s rights to the Pakistani men responsible for these actions”. The context does not point to her not being a misandrist, it very much does. A new stars wars movie coming dosent make me mad, or excited...or anything. The emotional heat death of the starwars universe is over, apathy and oblivion have set in.
Sadly, I am done. But maybe it's not really that sad. At least those in charge are admitting that they don't care about fans, the story, the historic significance of the original masterpieces or even the most iconic characters ever created in the history of film. It has become Disney's charter to "change the world" using pop culture. That's why KK is still there and will never be removed. And it's why every subsequent exec, director, artist and actor are from the same mold. I feel the intent is to create a new fan base, excluding those like me that sat in the theater in 1977, whose life was changed by the creative genius of George Lucas. Going forward I can see Star Wars films being made with lower budgets in anticipation of my generation staying at home, and with some going no matter how much they are despised. Disney gets it, they know how to fix this. They have no intention of turning the ship around. The course has been set and we should not be surprised going forward. Just be glad we have digital copies, Blu-ray,s, DVD's and yes even VHS. Some do have those copies as well. And I did save a VCR or 2 back in the day. LOL. At least we know what to expect from future releases and projects as they are revealed. My wallet is now currently closed to Disney. No more "Star Wars" movies for me. Thank you Nerdrotic for the information you provide through these videos. I know that there is a lot of preparation, research, editing, and overall WORK that goes into this effort.

@@bhec7715 they’re actively shrinking it. They don’t gain any new minorities or women, who almost universally like the older content too, and they do alienate massive portions of the fan base. I have made peace with the fact that Star Wars and Marvel were good and ended around 2000, with only some exceptions (The Punisher series on Netflix for example). Besides the occasional Encanto, Disney’s hasn’t been able to consistently make good kids movies since the early 2000’s.

What bothers me is the fact that Disney is burning Star Wars to the ground. She’s not qualified to make a 200 million plus dollar blockbuster. She’s just not. So why did they hire her? The franchise is already in shambles and the fan base has either lost interest or is on the verge of doing so. She can hate, dislike or make as many men feel uncomfortable as she wants but I just don’t understand WHY Disney would bring that kind of negative energy into an already troubled franchise.
What these women activists don’t understand is is they are only getting hired to be the front of the film, not for their talents. So she’s actually putting whatever activism they want back decades. I’m going through the old alien movies. You had a strong female lead 40 odd years ago!

Star Wars was never really as good as its fans made it out to be to begin with (Ewoks exist not in the prequels not in the Disney Trilogy but in the OG Trilogy). At some point it became a Cult Like nonsense where people would follow it like a Religion.

The original films revolutionized the sci fi genre and were absolutely mind blowing to people when they came out! Again you are entitled to your opinion but you are talking about a series where almost every single one makes the list of highest grossing films of all time (other than the forced unleashed none of the new ones made that list)
It is also one of the highest grossing franchises of all time; the only films which grossed more were literally the marvel movies and spider man (also marvel)

The one think I admire about Disney is that they aren't hiding their intentions. When they hire a person on the Diversity Stack, there isn't a shadow of a doubt that it was due to being on the Diversity Stack. If anything, they're proving that merit matters.
