As a Star Wars fan, I would like to offer my condolences to the Doctor Who fans.
Thank you. It's been a frustrating six years.
Dude, i'm sorry for your people too :(
As a lifelong Trekkie, I'll second that.
Amen!
Any tips to start and best part to end when going in the Star Wars and Dr. Who ??
Dr. Who fans are some of the nicest and most passionate people I’ve met, and like many other fanbases, they didn’t deserve to have their franchise ruined by idiots.
well Amazon did call the Lord of the Rings's fans evil so there's that
💯 agree! Dr. Who… one flush down the toilet is all it took🤢

@@Tallacus Well, let them be the only ones who watches that show then
Nobody on this comment section are Doctor Who fans lmfao. Only little haters lol.
The Daleks tried for ages to kill off The Doctor and yet somehow the BBC managed it ridiculously easily.
Correction Disney. The BBC TRIED for a couple Years with Jodi..but Disney said hold my beer in less than 3 specials.
You two never watched the show because it’s always been progressive i mean there is a literall video titled doctor who being political for 1 hour and it has been woke since it was created but you never wachted the show so please watch the video I mentioned and then you think maybe I was wrong I guess it has been woke since it started to get a life and be quiet ok thank you
@@Batmanvideos84789It was political but not to this degree like it values politics more than the story at this point
Indocrinate, Indocrinate, indoctrinate.
My biggest issue with the 60th is it didn't feel like a celebration of 60 years.
More like insistence of current year.
Matt smith, david tenant and early peter capaldi were the best of the show (not including 9th because he had a short run) sadly russell decided showing everyone as equal wasnt enough and decided to ruin good storywriting to annoy us showing a narrative every single frame and somehow ruining the sonic screwdriver which i thought was impossible as its just a screwdriver every time but different so they turned it into a magic ipod which solves every problem instantly
You´re a male, you can´t comprehend. LOL
I felt like I was being sandblasted in the back while watching the new Dr who show
Thank you, an actual reasonable complaint and not one made by right-wing grifters like Nerdrotic
As I recall from studying *real* history, governments that sought to rewrite history to suit their needs weren't exactly the most peaceful idealistic societies.
Got it in one
"History is written by the victims"...
Soviet Russia and the "democratic" West comes to mind. Isn't it a coincidence that Germany saw them as the enemy?
The soviets were notorious for this and their culture suffered greatly as a result
And we are watching this very symptom of humanity take place in real time
One of my all time favourite moments in all of Doctor Who was Jo Grant's departure. She announces she's getting married and although the Doctor acts happy for her you can tell he is devasted that the woman that kept him company through his years of being trapped on earth is leaving him. As everyone pours drinks to celebrate the Doctor silently drinks his and leaves the party while no one is looking (He didn't notice that Jo saw him). Then the Doctor, an ageless alien, drives away on his own.
Calling scenes like that baggage is fucking insulting
It's pretentious and unfounded.
What abour the Eleventh Doctor meet Jo again.
The silhouette of Bessie against the twilight sky was a lovely bittersweet ending to that series.
Fantastic comment. A scene like that says more than any agenda laden diatribe can ever convey. It's one of those true timeless moments.
YES YES THIS.
The problem with calling yourself "Progressive" is every time you achieve a goal, you then have to find a new goal and proceed to once again beat the rest of us to death with it. They will insist on taking us down no end of weird backwaters, and if they have their way this "progress" will be unending.
You know what is wanted? More
That's neoliberal, not progressive
The goal has never changed. Social justice and representation for all.
@@olican101 Nothing vague or open-ended about that.
Yes, better things for everyone is better for everyone.
I've never realized how spoiled I was becoming a whovian during Peter Capaldi's era.
I think it's because he's a true whovian, you can see that excited fanboy in him during interviews and even on set sometimes
That firey passion spread to those who worked with him and to us the audience.
Jodie tried, David didn't seem to have it much compared to his 10th doctor run, and I hope Ncuti doesn't mess it up
It's already doomed before the main series even begins, lol. Everything that defined past Doctor Who series is being defiled, and now it's just a generic sci-fi show, nothing more broo
@@e.p.of.p.o3644 I hated the Christmas special

Doctor Who is dead and burried. It died with Peter Capaldi playing the last doctor.
@@GeneratorRexNerdcouldn't even watch it for 5 minutes.
5 couldn't take it for 3 minutes horrible forced messaging
Capaldi was the last doctor, and all this time we had been in denial, if they want to do something different I would be happy to watch "Clara and me in the restaurant at the end of the universe"
Notice how every doctor after Capaldi, had good memory after regenereating.... I say they are a figment of his imagination and he's really in a coma or something.
I liked the 60th Anniversary Specials… but I’d still watch the hell out of this. I miss Clara and 12.
How I HONOR You! Jodie Whittaker was a poor Doctor not because she was a woman, but because she couldn't portray Doctor's character. Unfortunately, with her came the degeneration of the brand. And the rotten cherry on top of this cake made of expired cream, Surströmming and Hakarl is that they made yeast out of the Doctor. And why? Well, because yeast reproduces by partitioning. So, as the classic said: "Silence over that coffin."
That whole BS about the MALE Doctor not being able to let go of power drives me nuts!! Have they already forgotten how Doctor Donna begged, pleaded and cried for the Doctor NOT to take her power away from her...even though she knew it would kill her!
Exactly! Like what is with them and bashing on men?! The Doctor has made many sacrifices before. Did they think that he wouldn't do that because he was MALE?! God, way to ruin Donna.
Agreed! Also with the stupid timeless children if the doctor has unlimited regeneration then donna is safe from death anyway. Cuz the doctor can just heal her with regeneration energy.
it's just so stupid!
A man is defined by the sacrifices he makes
It was a gratingly stupid line for sure, for so many reasons. That said I don't think your example is the best; I'm pretty sure Donna was begging to keep her memories of her time with the doctor, and her friendship with him. He was taking away so much more than just her newfound power
You're being stupid. Doctor Donna didn't beg him to let her keep her powers, she begged him to let her keep her MEMORIES.
Listen, I'm a gay black man and I Loved Dr who but yeah I'm over it now. I'm glad they're more concerned about pandering rather than their loyal fans. Sad
Capaldi was the last Doctor. RIP Doctor Who. The priceless and irreplaceable icon is truly dead.
Whitaker's era was great. The writing was original. Problem is that people whine about original, but when they get it, then its an agenda. LOL The whole Woke argument is really just bigots looking for someone else to be responsible for their bigotry. LOL I mean, Who's creator had wanted the Doctor to transform into a woman as well as many other possibilities. There were always gay characters in the show, its just that the bigot wants them to be played and shown as being straight gays. LOL
@@mikelachey824 Whitakers era was mediocre at best. Chibnall took great pleasure in ripping apart the Canon of Doctor Who and while I'll admit Jodie got a raw deal with the rubbish writing, her Doctor is very forgettable. Over 50 years of writing was flushed down the toilet in the Timeless Children. Destroyed the legacy of William Hartnell. Killed the Doctor Donna. Retconned Davros because he was in a wheelchair.
Woke took over Doctor Who and the fans just didn't deserve it.

I was having a conversation with a normie friend of mine over the weekend and, without giving it any thought, told him “All my old fandoms have been compromised - there’s pretty much nothing left from my old favorites to enjoy.” I said it matter-of-factly, but after it came out of my mouth, it saddened me to confirm out loud that so many things I used to love - comics, Star Wars, Star Trek and Doctor Who - have all been destroyed by people that couldn’t care less about them.
I still have Star Gate and Babylon 5, simply because nothing new for them came out in the last 10 years. I used to be saf about no new content, but now I see it as a blessing.

Yes I feel the same. I have run out of things to watch. And enjoy. Because I have seen all these things a million times. I love them, they are great. Doctor Who, Trek, Star Wars etc. But they are not making anything new from them, that is worth seeing and nothing new that is anywhere near as good as what they were years ago. And its sad as the potential is there, they just want to use them to lecture the audience now, and not entertain. So I no longer watch any of them . I watched the first two Tennant specials and they were that bad, that preachy and that much of an F. U. to older fans like me I could not bring myself to watch the last one The Giggle. I am actually glad I missed it. And what I saw for the Christmas Trailer looks like one of the worst episodes of Doctor Who I have ever seen. A mash up of Pirates of the Caribbean and the Hobbit. With the campest Doctor ever. He is even more camp than John Inman or Kenneth Williams. I cant possibly take it seriously, its like a parody, a mockery a comic pantomime. The fact its gone from 12 million plus viewers down to 4 million in ten years....two thirds of the audience are gone and its going to get worse. I would be embarrassed if someone called to visit me on Christmas Day and I was caught watching a Doctor Who as bad as this one looks....and everyone thought Whitaker and Chibnall were bad...how is it possible to make something worse than that???? But they look to have managed it....

Never let culture fall into the hands of Communist. Yeah I know it inhales hard. RIP Dr. Who.
As if we have a say.
I honestly loved that they brought back David Tennant. It was fun to see him. The Bigeneration was really weird, but the 10th Doctor finally got the ending he wanted. There were a lot of things in the specials i didnt like though. The attitude they gave the doctor and telling him how he wouldnt understand because he is a "male presenting timelord". I also don't know how being non binary was important for the story. The characters gender shouldnt be important.
I agree, the gender shouldn't be important. The show was making it the whole personality of the character, instead of just one aspect of the person. So weird
@@arthurhaack618 I still remember Bi Billie, only because the showrunners wouldn't stop writing it into her lines. "Hi I'm Billie and I'm bi!" Oh! Well it's a good thing you are trapped in a cave full of Roman legionnaires who are also all gay and bi for some reason that has zero affect on the plot of the episode. Who cares? The doctor is an immortal time traveler who has evolved over the years to become the fearless and feared entity that killed the Daleks and even his own species. Part of his journey is learning how to deal with that. And yet...after Capaldi the doctor became a coward that was afraid of her own shadow while still trying to play up the girl power angle. And it just keeps getting more and more about pandering rather than good storytelling. No wonder Disney picked it up.
@@docferringer exactly. I am a part of the LGBT, but I don't tell people that when I introduce my self. Because it doesn't matter! I'm embarrassed by the shows pandering to queer people.
Same as Bond, the idea for the character was the refined older British gentleman. Gender very much matters. Now they're inserting this trendy made-up BS that won't age well. Though it will be good evidence of a dark age where people believed gender didn't exist.
I suspect they kept Tennant Doctor in a form of existence, in the show, for a reason, and he will be used to reel the fans back in when 'something happens' to Gatwa Doctor, at the end of that actor's term. Their bi-generation may result in a bond that involves Tennant when it is time for Gatwa to regenerate. That's my prediction.
Capaldi was the last doctor in my mind
"And in the years to come you might find yourself revisiting a few, but just the old favourites, ay?" - A prophecy that has come to pass and taken on an entirely new meaning. With 50 years worth of stories to enjoy, we can revisit them all. The Day of the Doctor serves as a wonderful series finale for classic Who. May it rest in peace.
that was the finale for me as well. never watched anything past it nor i intend to do
50 years of repeat viewings is fine by me.
Day of The Doctor would be an awful series finale for classic Who. Now, Death Comes To Time on the other hand was a great send off for The Doctor.
@@Zontar82The last Doctor was Capaldi. He’s an older Doctor but he’s superb in the role. His performance in Mummy On the Orient Express was sensational and it’s an all time classic. This show will never reach those standards again.
@@UnlimitedRicePudding_ I'm not familiar with it but thanks for the recommendation. TV episodes, books, comics, Big Finish and other audio dramas: there's plenty in the archive to entertain fans for decades to come (same goes for Star Wars, Star Trek, Marvel and DC). As a 50 year old English woman, Who’s first Dr was John Pertwee, I feel so deflated after patiently waiting a year for these episodes. Same except we did watch the 60th together along with my aunt and cousin and we were all surprised at how sh!t the writing was we couldn't believe it 😭
Oh god you just made me realize the 50th anniversary was 10 years ago...
First time in my life I feld old and I'm 25 xD

The Doctor being a slightly insufferable know-it-all is precisely why we loved him, among a myriad of other traits. I will personally never forget how David Tennant brought us the most compelling expression of "righteous anger" I think I'll ever see in my life. To be a lonely, wounded, god, filled with the rage of centuries pouring it out on the darkest of foes...it was just all so brilliant. RIP Dr. Who.
I personally loved how Matt Smith could almost flip into a completely different character when things get serious. Most of the time, he’s the cheeriest, silliest and most playful Doctor around and then, in a moment, something else takes control. Something cold, ancient, and furious.
Doctor Who is a show where the youngest ever actor to play a character can somehow look and feel the oldest out of all of them.
its still going!
@@RadiuI No, it's not. Like a walker from The Walking Dead, its putrid, rotting corpse is still staggering around as if it were alive, but there's no life left inside, only a mindless, ravenous rage seeking to destroy everyone who once loved it.
@@zxyatiywariii8How come I've been seeing a lot of people enjoy it then?
Yah... The Doctor being kind of a dick is one of his most persistent traits across all regenerations. He's very smart, very old, very knowledgeable, and he knows it. And his ego doesn't get deflated often, but when it does, it feels EARNED. It's one of the things that made Romana fun, because while The Doctor may have a lot of practical experience, he's still the Time Lord equivalent of a college drop-out, allowing Romana to outsmart him from time to time in a way that feels natural.
As a Whovian, I take solace in these 3 facts. There's fifty good years of Who that they can't ruin. Hartnell was the first Doctor and Capaldi was the last. Lastly their version of Dr Who will be forgotten in a decade ours is forever.
The problem is they have and are removing older “problematic” episodes. Bit by bit they will find fault with each era and replace them all.

You don't have to be a doctor of psychiatry or psychology to know that " emotional baggage " literally makes us who we are. How we handle our challenges and let downs define who we are.
I think you’ll find it’s what we identify as is what defines us.
Unless you’re against my ideology and therefore I will define you as an -ist and a -phobe.
EMOTIONAL DAMAGE
It's how we take action in the real world...
Everybody hates Star Trek V but Kirk's speech about needing his pain was a good scene.
it's one thing that makes us who we are of like 5 things. emotional baggage can happen in 5 different ways, itself.
I'd say you don't need to be a doctor to know that but it seems you do.
That article from screen rant about moving past pain and loss made me think of Star Trek V: The Final Frontier. "Damn it Bones you're a doctor, you know that pain and guilt can't be taken away with the wave of a magic wand. They're the things we carry with us that make us who we are. We lose them we lose ourselves. I don't want my pain taken away I need my pain!" - James T. Kirk
It will be cancelled within one season. The fans are gone, the "modern audience" is a myth, and will not watch the show. I hope it was worth it for that sweet DEI score from Blackrock...
Do people still watch it? I know people who used to watch it a lot, but I didn't know that there was still people bothering with it..

The UK viewership for the 3 David Tennant specials are LESS THAN HALF of the very first Jodie Whittaker episode (and Jodie ONLY went downhill after that).
The average viewing numbers for the three Tennant specials are almost EXACTLY where Sylvester McCoy's average ratings were before the show was cancelled in 1989.
None of the Tennant specials surpassed viewing figures for even the least-viewed Matt Smith episode, much less any of the prior David Tennant episodes.
Disney dumped a TON of cash into this production and this was NOT what they wanted to see happen. Yes, this is a huge failure. This is a big-budget special effects show, not some seedy medical drama, and it is the 60th anniversary to boot. They were expecting in excess of 10 million viewers and couldn't maintain half that.
What else does this mean? Well, it means that merchandising isn't coming back. During the Jodie Whittaker era, almost all merchandising came to an abrupt halt. NO ONE WAS BUYING THE PRODUCT. During Eccleston through Matt Smith, merchandising was HUGE. You could get EVERYTHING, from toys, posters, mugs, t-shirts, comics, etc. At one point, Character Options was reporting sales of 30,000 sonic screwdrivers a day! Then came Capaldi, and merchandising sales slowed. During Jodie, they almost died completely. Toys that did come out sold in paltry numbers. Action figures wound up in deep discount bins and suppliers still cannot get rid of "Friends of the Thirteenth Doctor" action figure sets. Almost every US licensor of Doctor Who products stopped making new items (no more T-Shirts, mugs, standees, posters, etc). UK toy releases became very sporadic as well, most being exclusives through B&M. With numbers like these, the merchandise is NOT coming back, and if it does, it won't sell enough to merit full price for very long.
Are you sure Disney didn’t want this because I’m pretty sure this is exactly what they wanted
👍👍 to the failure of this sad piece of junk.
@@DoodleThis They wanted in excess of 10 million UK viewers and a ton of subscribers to join for this... didn't happen.
This is a bridging mini series. It's not a 60th special and to be honest here in the UK they are putting more promotion into the next era of who. As for ratings, they are up on the mess chibnall made. You also can't compare 1980s ratings with 2023 ratings. Today there is more channel choice (and I had BSB here in the UK in the 80s/90s, what we now call sky TV).
And as someone who owns a copy of every who story in existence (tv, film, book, comic, audio and trust me friends took the piss out of me at school for the wall of who in my family living room, where all other walls were taken up in books) nothing is new in terms of woke.
One of the greatest things Doctor Who taught me was what we now know as the meme regarding the difference between 'harmless' and 'peaceful'. The Doctor is capable of great violence and vengeance, as both Eccleston and Tennant showed. But he actively chooses not to be, hence he is 'peaceful'.
That kind of nuance is way beyond what DW is post Capaldi, and way beyond whatever the hell Davies has devolved into.
Ween the third doctor destroyed a dalek and it screamed in pain in planet of the daleks " As a man of peace I quite enjoyed that"
"To Sir Edmund Rockwell,
Know that I choose to remember you not as the monster you were in your final moments, nor as the secretive, obsessive man you became after I found you in the desert. I should have seen the signs then. If I had, perhaps I wouldn't have to mark this empty grave.
This grave is for the man you were, and the man I will remember. He was the man who I'd talk and laugh with over tea long into the night, and the man who'd offer me supplies and a steed without a second thought. He was a scientist, a scholar and gentlemen. Wherever that man is, I hope he is at peace."
David Tennant voiced Rockwell in Ark Survival Evolved. How poetic.

When NewWho came on the screens in 2005 with Eccleston, I thought it was brilliant. Tennant too is brilliant & the stories were fresh, the CGI was fresh & I thought what could go wrong. When Smith took over it was starting to go over the top & then after Smith it got worse & worse.
The 60th anniversary specials were rehashing old material as well as Tennant & Tate as fan service but what got me pissed off is that they had an actor of a different race playing Isaac Newton! Yes it's sci-fi/fantasy etc but if you're going to add a historical character, at least have him look the part! It's like getting Billie Piper to play Celie Harris Johnson in The Color Purple or Graham Norton to play Rubin 'Hurricane' Carter in The Hurricane.
RTD has this panderverse where he has to pander to every minority, gender, race, object etc where they all have to be inclusive. With history, you cannot change the past, you cannot change what happened to slavery in the southern USA, convicts being sent to Australia, or the Indian sub-continent being under the British jackboot of colonialism. RTD needs to remember that he's writing & directing for an audience that differs in ages & they just want to see a decent Doctor Who episode. RTD is just pandering his own tastes into Doctor Who & it doesn't work. Chibnall was the same. RTD is now relying on old episodes he wrote & rehashing it into new ones. It's just pure lazy & pandering. Don't get me started on Disney either! Disney will send suggestive notes to RTD who will have to pander to Disney execs. What's next? Mickey Mouse playing Doctor Who!
When ideology is more important than art/entertainment, you know that its doomed to flop terribly. To Doctor Who fans, you deserve much MUCH better & I hope something good happens in the future.
Please, just watch the Malcolm Hulke stories in the 70s for left message.
What's funny about the "ideology" vs art/entertainment...they cast a diverse black Doctor Who who represents only 3% of the British population compared to the Asian 7% and 82% white. They had already abandon the long time fan base for a female Doctor, now they usher in the era of a non-Binary Black Doctor for a production that will appeal to an even smaller demographic...all in the name of representation. As an Indian, as a brown person, I want every "activist" and person who condone what doctor who has become to know ,I never needed the doctor to look like me or another POC or a woman to feel represented.
The doctor was amazing because of his character, his stories ,he felt relatable because he was just another time lord who strived to be a good man, it was never about him being special but about being a good man and the lore change screwed it all up.
The stories all took a downward trend after the female doctor but I guess the groundwork for that was laid when the master was made a woman. Instead of a brotherly bond and betrayal they messed up the relationship.
Doctor who ended for me with capaldi's ww1 Christmas special which had brought me to tears. RIP doctor who, never did a doctor had to literally revert back to an older doctor to save the show and it still failed because of the atrocious dialogue and story.

We indians have our own history where many scientific concepts were already discovered ages before anyone in Europe did but that wouldn't sit well with Europeans so they won't show it in doctor who and that's fine but turning newton brown is just an insult of history.

I remember a time when looking at the history, even or especially the ugly stuff was held in high regards. Looking at facts, learning from mistakes. I kind of like this idea to be frank.
Showing history not how it was but how you would like it is a dangerous path, because everyone has a different idea of what it "should" be. That is also an insult to the actual humans who did great things if you miss represent them. Imagine showing the "I have a dream" speech and having a white actor do it. Doesn't feel right. Similarly showing a historical figure that was white as a person of color just doesn't feel right. Facts should not be changed.

I very quickly abandoned Dr Who under the Jodie Whittaker dumpster fire, due to the hammy writing and overriding identity politics. I came back for Tennant and Tate, but the dumpster fire is still very much burning. I might watch the Christmas special with a morbid stare, just to see how high the flames go, but that's it.
Well I watched the special, and it featured goblins stealing a baby, a goblin king and a musical number - which is perhaps fitting, as Doctor Who has turned into a Bog of Eternal Stench.

I stood in front of a statue depicting a great hero. He was a legendary hero, greater than life, and I remember being awestruck by the greatness the statue managed to exert. But when I looked at it, I saw that the statue had been vandalized. Some cruel hands had chiseled, painted, and bent the statue until it was unrecognizable. I began to weep, and a child asked me why I was crying. I told the child it was because of the statue. Such a great and noble thing had been destroyed, and it saddened me. The child asked me why would such a thing upset me. It is but a statue after all. And I told the child that it represented such great and beautiful things, greater and more beautiful than anyone could imagine, and now no one will experience it ever again. And the child will never get the chance to glimpse it either.
What you have written there is so beautiful.

The timeless child causes so many plot wholes and writing issues it amazes me they don’t just act like it never happened and move on. It completely removes all tension from any scene where the doctor could die. Undoes the 11th doctors final episode(that being that he only has one life left and will spend it defending trenzalore) and so much more. It is the “jump the shark” moment of Dr. Who and as long as it’s canon it will forever harm the brand of Dr who
Well it WAS the Jumping the shark moment, unti bi-generation happened. Now according to RTD every past doctors regeneration became bi-generation and the old doctors didnt die as the new ones appeared, and all past canon is now set loose and undefined.
Chibnall changed canon back to the first minute of the show in 1963 and damaged it beyond repair. RTD has erased canon, completely, now only head canon matters and each viewer can make up whatever they want.
I dont think theres any way to come back from that.
Yep, it removes tension, and it removes the reward of the Doctor cheating his way out with bonus regenerations from the Timelords or something. The Bi-generation also removes the bittersweet goodbye of a Doctor and the surprise and time to shine for the new one.

"Emotional baggage" Really?!! That's why I love the doctor. A person that has lived for the longest time, with vastly more experience and knowledge than his adversaries and supporters, all the loss, grief and mistakes he made, he has to live with all that and keep moving forward because he understands that if he stops, evil wins. "Emotional baggage"
And that is true Message lost on these fools now days. You cannot just drop your past, the pain, the trauma.
You learn to live with and keep moving forward, you find a way to use it to motivate you, to empower you, to make you better.
But these current fools think you can only wallow in it or forget it.
That is not how people work, and those who do function that way are broken people who need to fix themselves instead of "fixing" the world around them.
That's their way of saying "Let the past die. Kill it, if you have to." :/
Yeah- what these current "identity first!" writers fail to understand is that most people don't relate to characters based on color shades or sexuality, but rather based on the characters' actions and experiences.
They took the emotional bagage and replaced it with shit bagage.
Yep. The whole thing was essentially a Series 4 and RTD Era celebration.
Aside from the obvious intention, it seems to me that the "bi-generation" robs the new Doctor of fully owning the role. He hasn't been passed the baton really. He's been temporarily allowed to hold one end.
Entirely intentional- BbC & Dismaly are hedging their bets. When the ncunti experiment fails, he will be killed off.

Russell T Davies ushered in a successful reboot of Doctor Who in 2005, partly by perfectly harnessing the nostalgia and respect of older fans, while subtlely updating the series to appeal to new viewers. His instincts in this regard have abandoned him in 2023, or maybe it's that he's had nearly 20 years of people telling him how well he handled it last time and it's blown his ego into the stratosphere to the point where he now thinks he can do no wrong.
Watching Nucti Gutwa's Doctor dancing in a nightclub at the start of a new BBC trailer, wearing a singlet and kilt and nothing much else, it's clear that RTD has lost touch with who the lead character even is, and is instead writing some generic gay rom drama that happens to have a time travelling phone box in it. His disrespect of both Doctor Who's legacy in it's 60th anniversary year, and even his own legacy within that by bringing back David Tennant's Doctor only to shit all over it, has 'belled the cat' about how he will be proceeding with Doctor Who going forward.
The only blessing is that its going to be so bad, that Doctor Who's days are now almost certainly numbered. And at this point, it deserves to be canceled again. It needs a rest, so someone new with an actual love of the I.P. can come along in a decade or two and revive it peoperly.
Sorry but i never feel that RTD had respect to the older fans. He make Sarah Jane a love interest.

I started watching Doctor Who when the local PBS station aired the Tom Baker era in the 1980s. I was instantly hooked. I began collecting and reading the novelizations as well as catching every episode PBS showed. I even managed to get a hold of a bit of Doctor Who merch, even though it was rare here in the US back in the 1980s. I was excited when PBS started showing the Peter Davison episodes, but I lost interest during Colin Baker's troubled run. I regained interest with Sylvester McCoy's three seasons. PBS eventually aired all the Doctors up to that time, and I tried to watch them when I could. During that time, Jon Pertwee became (and, thanks to DVD, remains) a favorite of mine. I saw the movie with Paul McGann when it initially aired in 1996. I liked McGann's Doctor well enough (he was quite likeable), but not the story with which he got stuck. I was excited about the revival in 2005, and when I finally got Christopher Eccleston's season on DVD, I stayed up all night watched it in its entirety. I was blown away by both the well-written stories and Eccleston's fantastically deep performance (with loads of "emotional baggage" that gave his performance an edge). I was worried when Eccleston left so soon, but I needn't have. David Tennant and Matt Smith proved themselves to be fine Doctors in their own right (although the writing of their stories was uneven). In particular, I thought Matt Smith did an incredible job portraying a young-faced Doctor with an old soul. At times, his "mad man in a box" truly seemed like a centuries-old alien. I honestly believe "The Day of the Doctor" to be a high-water mark of the series as a whole. Sadly, I lost intertest after Matt Smith regenerated into Peter Capaldi. I just couldn't connect to Capaldi's Doctor. I found him unlikeable. One could say I let go back then, since I've yet to see all of Capaldi's episodes. I haven't watched a single episode featuring Jodie Whitaker (I've heard the writing is awful) or any of these recent specials with David Tennant. I had high hopes for the latter, but what I've seen here has dashed those hopes.
When I was younger, and my best friend and I would play, I liked to play the Doctor. As a smart, geeky, bibliophilic boy (I might not be everyone's image of a manly "man's man", but I do identify as a male) with a penchant for science, the Doctor was MY hero. It was actually important to me to have a male role model who used his brains instead of his brawns, who solved problems by being incredibly clever. Sadly, it seems the current show-runners (especially Russell T. Davies) have done all in their power to destroy all that. With what they've done to the series, I've no longer any reason to watch it. Truthfully, they can have it!
At least they can't take away my classic Doctor Who - I've an extensive collection of Doctor Who on DVD!
Peter Capaldi was the Valeyard on a redemption arc. The only problem is that neither he nor Steven Moffat realised it.
The lack of self-awareness in Peter Capaldi's performance was infuriating and every time he got snippy with Clara Oswald, he was gaslighting and projecting onto her. For example "You can't see me" was infuriatingly hypocritical because the Doctor spent thousands of years ignoring the fact that Clara kept saving his ungrateful ass and now has the audacity to claim that SHE'S the problem. Both Capaldi and Moffat were completely oblivious to how bad that line made the Doctor look, like they had completely forgotten about Clara being all over his Time Stream in Name of the Doctor. If she doesn't see the Doctor in this pretentious, narcissistic sociopath, that's completely his own fault. Even with John Hurt, who refused to even call himself the Doctor, Clara had no doubt that he was a legitimate incarnation.
Even during the one time where the Doctor's shitty behaviour towards Clara was justified, which was when she betrayed him in Dark Water, Peter Capaldi STILL had a smug and superior attitude about it. He came across as a man who WANTED Clara to betray him just to give him an excuse to pretend he was better than her. Snarling "cut out the whining" in her face was blatant gaslighting because Clara hadn't said anything that could be even vaguely interpreted as whining since they left the volcano. In fact, she let the Doctor have his tantrum without a single protest or complaint.
All the more bloodboiling to think about the fact that russel T Davies COULD write amazing Doctor Who stories, he just chose not to
I'm not even going to begin describe how f**king jaw-dropping that Bi-generation scene was.
There were so many levels of what-the-fuckery!💀
I soooooooo agree with you. I've watched Dr. Who since the late 70s. They played it on the one channel in base houseing in Mannheim, Germany, and I never missed an episode. But it died with Capaldi. I ordered the 60th anniversary on DVD, but I probably won't watch it.I've seen enough on the youtube reviews to know that it will just hurt my heart. So good bye dear Doctor. Maybe in another 60 years we will meet again.
I may be wrong but it feels like RTD did the bi-generation in order to “fix” The Timeless Child. So as it stands now, the proper Doctor line goes from William Hartnell to David Tennant’s 14th (or even Peter Capaldi when it was last good), and the Ncuti Gatwa Doctor includes all the BS setup in Timeless Child. Two separate Doctors creating two separate universes. Whether that’s what he meant to do, I prefer to think of it in that way. RIP DOCTOR WHO
Doctor What, as in “What the hell are we supposed to like about seeing everything be destroyed before our eyes?”
Doctor Why, as in “Why would they do this?”
Doctor How, as in “How could they do this to us?”
Doctor Where, as in “Where will the wokies go next?”
GAY POLITICAL ACTIVISM is the reason and the desire to screw everything up for the other people who did enjoy the show just to be a bi(ch ....you can see it in the producers eyes and mannerisms in every interview and whenever he talks about the show
Doctor Who re-invented itself after 16 years of hiatus (1989-2005) I believe this is the time to cancel it again and bring it back maybe 10-15 years later. My father grew up with the original, I grew up with 2005 Doctor Who (till 2016), and I hope my kids will have the same opportunity in 2035+
It isn't going anywhere. Ratings are still decent.
@@IllisiaAdams The ratings are exactly the same now as used to be in 1989.
Funded by UK taxpayers and now Disney. It’s not going anywhere.
fuck no
Yeah, many say the same about that in 2006.
