The Left tried for decades to take control (since the 20s at least in the US) of 1) Education and 2) Hollywood. And by control, I mean control of standards around content (which were heavily influenced by Christian morality tbh). They finally achieved control of both in the early 70s and here are today...all by design.

Captain Jack Harkness is one of my favorite characters in any piece of media. Doctor Who has never lacked "representation". Problem is the writing went to shit.

The thing with Captain Jack is that he was an interesting character with depth who just happened to be same-sex attracted. It wasn't his whole character, or the core of it.
But with characters like Bill, that changed. Bill was a lesbian, and that's _all_ she was. There was no depth. She was actually more interesting as a cyberman.
In 1963 my Dad and I sat on the couch and watched the very first episode of Dr Who.
I was 6 years old and was in awe of what I watched,it became a ritual for us.
This is totally unacceptable - you want to mess with things mess with them,but leave Dr Who alone.

innocence and wisdom rolled up in a neat package - in our fantasies he's saved us from Daleks, Cybermen, Silurians, The Master, Weeping Angels,Davros,The Silence,Zygons,Ice Warriors,Sontarans - there are so many I can't remember them all.
I'm heartbroken at this tomfoolery - yet another beloved character has been dismantled and destroyed in the name of DEI and political correctness.
The Beeb should be ashamed to let this happen,I'm going to go out and get every damn OLD episode on DVD there is and then never watch a new episode again. If every fan did that the whole thing will collapse but at least our precious memories of the Doctor won't be sullied.

As a gay man, I've always found people like Gatwa offensive. He's a caricature; he acts that way because it gets him attention, and some find it endearing. But most gay people are just normal, chill guys who don't constantly need to be the center of attention.

When most people of the world are not gay. It doesn’t make sense to take something straight and make it gay. If you want a gay show then make a gay show. Imagine if we started taking gay shows and making them straight. The tears would pour.
Part of the problem is trying to gain new fans. But all these companies do it at the expense of the long time current fans in hopes of gaining some new fans. Anyone smart knows that the abc storm will die eventually so why bother being a part of the storm. Stick to the tried and true methods that have always worked.
That's exactly what I think!! They are 'gayifying' our so beloved show, and that's horrible. They wouldn't like their gay show to be straightened, so they shouldn't do that to us. When Dr Who returned in 2005 it had to earn the right to be prime time television; it was like an indie band getting back together to headline arena shows, and it quickly proved it could. As we neared the end of the 2010s it was as if the band’s new-found popularity had made them lazy and inflated their sense of self-worth. The show’s producer/s believed it could now be anything and get away with it because, well, it’s Dr Who.
He is a gay actor that only plays gay characters. So is basically just being himself, and is not so much an actor as he is a DEI caricature.

Between the 9th and 10th grade I had to go to summer school and the first day of class a big big loud loud woman comes in and tells us that she's going to be our substitute teacher for a week and she was obviously not happy about it and she insulted us all and told us that we were losers for having to go to summer school and called us a few other choice names and we all looked at each other and realized it is on and it was on. I remember when it was a children's programme, for tea-time entertainment, without an Author's Political Message. It wasn't having a female Doctor that was the problem, in itself, it was the APM we knew would follow. Mrs Peel was John Steed's equal, in every way, but they didn't bash you over the head with it in those days, we were left to work it out for ourselves.
I seem to remember quite a few episodes making fun of and hating Margaret Thatcher. The PM from 1979 to 1990 most of GB liked her, the BBC ( the actors in it) didn't Not political? Doctor Who has been the most liberal show on british tv
When Jodie Whittaker had done one series, I was in a meeting for work and the two younger ones were talking about si-fi and one of the people in the meeting asked them "How good is the new woman playing the Doctor?". They did not know what to say, so I answered it with "No idea, the script is so bad, there is no way you could tell how good she is playing the part, the only one who comes out of it is Bradley Walsh who must be a great actor for that to happen!". The two young ones looked at each other and both agreed with me, as did a few more in the room who had seen some of it.
It got so bad that they had to all "kill" the cast off and bring back the cast from six years before just to keep it going. Then after that it looks like they are going back to the story line that was killing it!
I’m so grateful that we have 100 years of good media to fall back on, and can ignore the steaming pile of smegma they’re putting out now.

Play video games, talk about RPG's, run D&D and Vampire etc.... Why do we need to have it constantly in everything and in everyone's face ALL the time? Just let the character be the character in all their strengths and flaws and fully develop them. I don't feel like Jack was ever as one dimensional (and certainly with no preaching) as 99% of the stuff they push out now. I've never watched Dr Who but from what I gathered I truly feel bad for the fans. The only way I can relate is comparing it to how Star Wars became ruined for me. So ruined that I can't even watch the original films anymore as standalone titles...
My only complaint about everybody being up in arms about things in media that kids might watch: TV shouldn't be a babysitter. Parents need to watch what they're children are viewing and choose for them if they are concerned about content. Disney is a media company, not an early childhood development teacher. Parents: you have the power to decide what your kid watches on the TV you bought, you just actually have to parent them.

I am English, live in England and one of those fans. Been with Doctor Who since Tom Baker. I saw the worst of the classic series with Sylvestor McCoy. I did not think it could get worse than that, till Jodie Whitaker. And that was truly bad. I checked out of the show and the merchandise, books etc at that point. But I never thought it could get even worse. Till Gatwa and RTD the 2nd. A big part of the problem is the BBC. And its woke agenda. This time they have let Russell off his leash, out of his sex dungeon and he has gone fully gay warrior with the series. I was upset at how bad the Whitaker era was, now I am just numb. I went through the hate phase, then the despair, then slight hope...Now I am in apathy, and just mock what used to be my favourite show. My childhood. This series taught me to read with its book tie ins. Irony is no one watched the Christmas Special. First time its been back on Christmas day for years, millions of people at home watching Tv, and no one watched Doctor Gay and the Goofy Goblins....and even less will be watching the series.....
On the plus side, there are lots of worthwile seasons.
And the adventurous may even be so bold as to check out Blake's 7.
Remember when Doctor Who used to be mysterious and gritty with mixture of horror and moral teaching. Now look at the state of it. Pure political DEI rubbish, where the writing has single handedly permanently ruined it forever. 60 years gone for the sake of DEI. Timeless Child even ruined the classic series. I’ve watched Doctor Who since the Sixties. I stopped watching partway into Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor. She was the worst Doctor ever. I can’t see me going back to it.
As soon it was announced they made the deal with Disney+, that should have been the big red flag. They’re still gaslighting the fans into thinking Disney has no say in what’s going on.
The fact that even actors involved are able spout off the way they do and taunt the fans of a franchise, instead of showing gratitude for being given the role and to represent that franchise, just shows how much this is a systematic effort to erase our culture and entertainment.

It never used to be like this, before the internet and social media. An actor would never dream of slating a role or section of the population or fans. As they would be out of a job. People used to be more polite and things like that would be thought of as bad manors and ignorance. People had respect for others. Now its no respect for anyone and anything goes. No manors, no morals, no ethics. Do and say what you like, because you can and can get away with it now. So much more freedom, but standards and decency are long gone....
William Hartnell’s Doctor only had such low turnout because JFK was shot the same day and people were watching the news instead. They had to re-broadcast the first episode so people could watch it the following week.
It's a shame the show with such a brilliant 52-year run was then taken over by ideology and political agenda. In my eyes, it began with Bill Potts, the Capaldi companion with no personality besides being lesbian. The show was thrilled to remind us of that every third episode of series 10. I wouldn't have had a problem with making the Doctor a woman if the script weren't so blatantly misandristic about it. "I've had an upgrade." Yeah, because equal treatment means being treated as better than the opposite sex. I even stayed on board begrudgingly through most of Whittaker's run until finding out about the show breaking its own rules once again to introduce this new "Doctor" who is completely contrary to everything the Doctor had stood for over the past 60 years.
Disney in today's time, just the name gives me the chills, I treat it like poison ivy, oak or sumac, better to stay away from it.
