Hi Mary Jane, thank you for showing the Isonzo River, the Eastern part of Friuli and Slovenia! I grew up in Gorizia and we do feel very close to Slovenian traditions and people! ❤️ There is also a slogan that says "go borderless" and refers to the tight collaboration between Gorizia and Nova Goriza to promote this area and connect people. ❤️

Another well done "mini-documentary", Mary Jane. Interestingly, few people realize that the Alps are distributed over 8 countries, from France to Slovenia. Also less known, is that fully half of the chain by area lies completely within Italy, including the shared summits of Mt. Blanc (with France) and The Matterhorn (with Switzerland).

@@WhatashameMaryJane Too bad, I was just hoping for a video, at least from Istria if not further south, while you're still here in Europe. But well, I guess there will be other opportunities, the new world is slowly calling. I know it will be hard to say goodbye to family again and go across the ocean. but you are an adventurer and love to see the world, it is stronger than you. One poet (Balašević) says that there is a date of birth and death on the tombstones and that small line between them. That little dash in between is life and you decided to make it fill with as much content as possible. We look forward to watching your footage and adventures. I recommend watching the series: "La casa de papel" or how the Americans translated "Money Heist". I watched it in the original Spanish with subtitles, because it is much better than the English dubbing that also exists. The lead actress reminds me a little of you even though she’s brunette.

Former!!!,don't forget this!Proto Slovenians conquered this land the same as Romans did before them,so we have the same right to it,and as we live here and not Italians it is Slovenian. And I assure you that no Slovenian wants to be called Italian! In fact, you Italians showed us your superior culture by burning down our cultural institutions and prohibiting our language some decades ago...and tell me,how come that nature on our side of border is still unspoiled, the streets are clean, buildings taken care of etc. without Italian "help" or "guidance"?And let's not forget that we are settling this land much longer than any of your occupations lasted...

    • @naimaware

@@JustMe-uc8wj Actually I am Istrian and the Litoral and Coast of Slovenia is is still Italian to its core, historically it had always been as such and history cannot be changed. It become Slovenian only after Jugoslavia dissolved and Italy gently yet didn't reclaim it. Austro hungaric empire did actually start to promote the slavic element in those regions to displace the Italian one that posed a threat to their territorial integrity because of the reunification of Italy. It was Austro Hungarians that imposed slavic or germanic languages , tried to delete the Italian language, culture and deitalianize the region to preserve their foothold into the mediterranean. Also Slovenians never had any actual seat on those areas that were and are still Italian to its core . Slovenia belongs more to the interior areas and never to the coast and the whole area of Litoral was and had always been Italian.Sorry if this is not the history that teached you in school but its actual and factual truth. Oh and I am not proposing anything but I think that Italian exiled heirs should be allowed back to their homes and gain back their lost possessions which is nowday ostracized and opposed by local governments, Italian streets and naming be reinstated and so on. Then we are in EU so for me we can even remove borders and merge the countries.
