US Military Strike Back Against Houthis

- The United States and British military struck back against the Houthis with over 150 strikes from F18 fighter jets and tomahawk cruise missiles. We’ll also learn more about the Houthis' actual motivations behind the attacks in the red sea that have stopped 20% of the total trade so far. I also want to try to examine the evidence to see if types of strikes will be enough to stop the Houthis.

The Maersk Hangzhou container ship was sailing in the Gulf of Aden when it was attacked by Houthi missile strikes launched from the coast On December 30th 2023. One missile slammed into the ship at around 8:30 that night. The Hangzhou instantly put out a distress call to nearby naval assets to assist them. But they weren’t sailing through dangerous waters completely unprepared. They were not out to water with the pants down around their ankles, that would be just plain silly. They had the foresight to hire a private security team with small arms aboard their ship who would soon be put to the test.
Because a few hours later at 3:30 in the morning on new years eve December 31st. The Houthis sent 4 small boats with mounted machine guns to close in on the ship and attempt to hijack it. They got within 20 meters of the ship and fired small arms rounds at Hangzhou. They even tried to climb on board! US helecopters destroyed them.

Houthis claim they’re worried about the Palestinian people , I think it’s more likely they’re looking for favorable deal with Saudi Arabia in their ceasefire talks.

I kind like American made cars over Asia or Europe, the logo and design since 2023. The first brand is my favorite, your first car decides your future, many people I knew had the same bran.
Favorite non super cars Brands: Since 2023
1. Chrysler 300 = American
2. Ford = American
3. GMC = American
4. Chevy = American
5. RAM = American
Lost appeal: 2023
BMW ( liked it in the 2000s)
Mercedes ( liked in the 2000s)
Cadillac ( liked in the 2000s)
Subaru (liked early 2023)
Asian ( lost to American trucks)
European ( lost to American trucks)
Favorite Super cars:
1. Lamborghini = European
2, Bugatti Veyron/ Cheyron = European
Favorite Motor bikes = Asian
1. Suzuki
2. Kawasaki
Can you name one ship that was hit that was not owned by an Israeli or headed to israel?
Ofcourse now the US/UK bombed Yemen they are targeting US ships
Houthis are *defending,* not attacking. The Red Sea is their waters. Not America's or Britain's. NATO are the ones attacking the region from thousands of miles away.

Worth noting, self lasing targets is something most modern fighter jets (even regular F/A 18 Hornets) can do for laser guided bombs. More to the point, if multiple planes are airborne, they can lase for their wingman(and vice versa).
However, if there aren't spec ops on the ground now, I wouldn't be surprised if there are in the near future.
Very true !

@@Suzuki_Hiakura yeah, misinformation is something. Most of the time I've noticed it's made by omission.
I’m so tired of people saying everyone has a biased. A bias is not just a point of view. A bias is a prejudice and unfair, discriminatory point of view. I can prefer Donald Trump to win the presidency, but that doesn’t mean I can’t objectively look at the polling data and come to the conclusion he’s more likely to lose if I had to place a bed and put my money down. Biased could also make you think your candidate is more likely to lose, and they are because you view things more pessimistic, and vice versa. Like I can think it’s fine for police to shoot people if their life is being endangered by a criminal, but it doesn’t mean I can’t watch body camera footage and say that’s definitely an unjustified shooting from the information I have. Just because I’m a conservative doesn’t mean I can’t recognize if a conservative makes a mistake. In fact due to my bias, according to other peoples definition, which is just a viewpoint, I am more likely to criticize Christians and conservatives than I am people on the left because it’s my side. Some people don’t do that because of their viewpoint, and they let their side do hypocritical things. It’s silly to say people have a viewpoint. Therefore, they’re going to lie on behalf of their viewpoint or omit information on behalf of their viewpoint. People can give you all the facts and still hold of viewpoint. It’s when people start saying no that person‘s lying about the fact, and they don’t tell you why, that’s an example of someone’s viewpoint being biased and negatively affecting them and the way they view things. Most of the biased people are anti-intervention and people who don’t want the United States to be involved. And I objectively watch those people because I’m trying to form a better viewpoint on foreign policy, and these people come across is very dogmatic, and they are always against intervention no matter what and they think it’s only bad and we are only there for oil. There’s a lot of people who think like this. There is objective data such as you are more likely to die in Detroit as a police officer, in a year than as a soldier in Afghanistan, but people were adamant. We pull out, even though we essentially accomplished everything we wanted. I don’t know why they didn’t want us there anymore but we pulled out, it could’ve been done better, but 12 people died. So it shows leaving area Does not keep American soldier safer. You have to operate off of what’s already happened and not say I wish we never went there so let’s make it like we never went there as much as possible because that has consequences. I will say most people who are biased are against American intervention in most situations all the time. That’s the biased side. Most people aren’t really biased on this issue and they just don’t buy into propaganda like we are only there for oil because obviously Terrace do bad things to us and other people like allies. They literally don’t even want to shoot a missile at a nest of terrorist and if you do, they will start to complain about rich people sending poor people to war. Well, the poor people according to them are the ones and listing and they don’t have to and we’re not even talking about that we’re talking about shooting a missile at a terrorist and just killing terrorist, and they are still upset. Not everyone hold this view and there are some people who don’t wanna intervene in areas I think was a good idea or not necessarily as bad as they’re making it out to be those people aren’t being biased. People are allowed to disagree. People do come to different conclusions with the same information. Not everyone has the same exact worldview in mindset. I think people just forget that. there are genuinely some people who wanna annihilate groups of people. Those people do exist and it’s not different facts that brought them to that conclusion that’s different solutions and worldview and value systems people have.
Badd ass missiles 😂😂😂

The United States Navy is not even close to being stretched. The sailors and marines are getting paid more each day they are out on this deployment since they moved in the area of operations. I was sent out for ten months and yes it was stressful but the pay was worth it. Also they are actually doing the things that they are trained to do finally and that is a good thing. I just hope that nothing happens and everyone makes it back to port.
Regarding the last part of your comment, I think that only Iran has the capability to sink an American warship. But Iran is not going to get directly involved in this conflict. Thus, no American sailors will die.
@@User-jr7vf there are only 2 non-US ally countries that would have a shot at sinking a US ship and they are both not in the area or sitting this out. That being China and Russia. One is busy invading another country and at a stalemate for the time being, and the other is sitting this out entirely and watching.
@@User-jr7vfhighly doubt they have the tech or skill to sink a ship as US warships are never alone

Then you are not aware of the Irani military and its capabilities.
They very well have the capability to sink any warship and subs for decades.
They have a vast variation of missiles for each different purpose.
Their missile cities didn't pop into existence overnight.
They also have nukes and US intelligence knows about this.
@@User-jr7vfWell, they are giving the houthis the same weapons. But realistically, even Iran can't do that. They did very poorly against the US navy in the Iran-Iraq war.
I’m unsure if it’s the case for the eurofighter typhoon, but US planes with similar technology don’t need laser designation from ground troop. They can carry targeting pods on the fuselage which lase the bomb onto the target.
Absolutely the case for the Typhoon, that tech goes back to the early 1990's
Isn't the main reason for ground troop designation that it's more accurate? Not in terms of the laser being more accurate, but that ground forces can take more time to be sure of the target, whereas a jet on a quick hit and run is more likely to designate the wrong target? Case in point all the friendly fire during the Iraq Wars.
@@alexlyster3459 I'd say that's not the case really, if there is low threat then jets can loiter high up to really spot the target. High threat then maybe the case. In Afghan jets doing CAS could self lase once talked on to the target by the FAC
@@traildogisla I thought so, it would’ve strange that a plane as new as a typhoon wouldn’t have self lasing tech lol.
@@alexlyster3459 The reason for ground lasing is simply weather, or payload. Weather = Clouds can limit the visibility for the TGP (Targetting Pod). Payload = Some jets carry their TGP on Pylons that are used for bombs, so having someone ground lase give them one more pylon for bombs.

A lot of it has to do with a bunch of countries having small peen syndrome and nothing else.
People holding your currency to buy fuel just means that you had to print more money out of debt so people can shuffle that money around and that causes your currency to lose value not gain. How do you agregate your sources for the specifics?
Great content. Very good job balancing points of view and not giving into any one side’s perspective.
That said, I find myself increasingly wondering how useful it is to use the term “Iranian-backed Houthis”. It is entirely legitimate, and quite relevant, to point out the connections between the Houthis (as well as Hamas, Hezbollah, and other groups), but I don’t think I ever hear the term “Houthis” without being preceded by “Iranian-backed”, as if that was a part of the group’s name. Are they backed by Iran? Absolutely. But the way that all sources seem to insist on referring to them exclusively with this designation is questionable. While many sources will mention or fully-discuss Iran’s backing of other groups, no other group is treated so synonymously with Iran as the Houthis, including Hezbollah. I don’t know that this accurately reflects the nature of the relationship. It’s likely Iran is aiding the Houthis in targeting commercial ships, and it’s possible that the Houthis are only acting at Tehran’s bidding… but not at all certain. They have their own agendas and aims here that go beyond what Iran desires.
So, I’m starting to feel this term is no longer just pointing out an association to help people put regional interests and alliances between groups in context, but is conflating the actions and interests of two distinct actors. As an American, I know it’s fair to point out my country’s backing of Israel and the active support, both materially and politically, of its war in Gaza. But, if it became the default to say “American-backed Israeli government” that would smack of pushing a political agenda by inferring a much directorial role in the conflict for America than it actually has.
It will likely be many years before we get a full accounting and understanding of which party directed which actions and who was pushing for what. It doesn’t help avoid escalation to conflate third party’s, even so-called “proxies”, as if they were mere puppets of their benefactors. The full story is often much more complicated than we imagine in the moment. I would suggest to simply say “Houthis”, and feel free to point out affiliations and proxy relationship, as long as it doesn’t completely conflate the two. There’s enough risk for escalation and spread of the conflict without involving the transitive property.
RE: China’s lack of involvement in Operation Prosperity Guardian also may be due to other things you’ve taught us. China’s navy isn’t a blue water navy yet. Their operational capabilities are weak and they don’t have enough experienced pilots. (And you thought we weren’t paying attention.)
exactly my thought as well. This just highlights their limits. Although I do recall seeing reports when we first sent our strike groups to the Red Sea and the possibility of sending one to the Persian Gulf that China had just recently concluded a small naval presence in the latter.
It's profitable for China to not be involved. Their shipping companies explicitly declare they will not ship to Israel, they don't get attacked, and they can charge however much they want for their cargo safely getting through the Suez canal...
And why would China bother getting involved when their global competition is willing to foot the bill themselves? The rest of the world gets drained and China sits pretty.

True. They can even be lased by the launching aircraft if it is carrying a targeting pod, or lased by a friendly aircraft (buddy lasing).
@@ChucksSEADnDEAD They can, but the downside is that the targeting unit would have to remain on site with eyes on the target for the entire duration (which is dangerous), instead of simply leaving the target area once the bomb is deployed (which is safer).

Seeing the construction of a javelin on one of the electronics channels I follow the difference is massive. But that was an old version, surely with modern components it could be simpler. Chinese and Russian ship's are purposefully NOT being targeted 💯

They literally hit a ship carrying Russian oil
Wrong. Chinese ships have been targeted.
@rolandthethompsongunner64 so why have the houthies said they are giving passage to Russian and Chinese owned or affiliated shipping?
They did target a Chinese ship not too long ago. They may only want to go after ships trading with Israel, but the thing is. The nationality of the owner of a ship, the country its registered in, the company its shipping for, the flag it actually sails under, the nationality of its crew and its port of origin may all be different nations. So you suddenly got like 6-10 nations involved in the business of one ship. So what exactly constitutes an Israel affiliated ship? I doubt the Houthi even have a system of making the determination consistently plus they are likely not always working with the best intel.
