See people those three are true mexicans, different colors of skin, different face features but thats how we look, we are a big mixture and that's what makes us such an amazing country.
Ailen - that is so interesting that you pointed that out.
Exactly!!!
😙👏👏👏👏👏🤝
criollo (white) , indigena (indigenous ) , and mestizo ( mix white/indigenous )
Ailen we’re mixed but people in the USA still think that all Mexicans or Latinos in general are short and brown.
That "did you know what netflix was?" question was so out of touch, like, she's from Mexico not the Marianas Trench
Aaron Gutierrez so arrogant of him
Aaron Gutierrez It’s not that deep. Indigenous places in Latin America aren’t that in touch with media like we are here in the US. Just facts.

@Dharmabum9287 Yeah, we all know that. Rogelio was referring to the fact that all those shows or movies show the mexican women as they are. Stubborn. Strong. Beautiful. Brave. Now with Roma we got that, and the whole world is seeing it.
@Dharmabum9287 you are missing the point here. I'm talking about movies, how us, mexican people never have the oportunity to see real mexican representation in cinema. Roma has been released around the world on Netflix, galas, awards and festivals. That means a lot of people has seen THE MOVIE. A movie that shows a diferent part of our culture and people. Are you latino? If you aren't then you won't get how important is to see an indigenous woman getting praise worldwide
I believe he meant it since Yalitza is indigenous. I totally agree and is why Cuarón made the movie. To show the different social classes. Just like in the US, Mexico also suffers from racism as well as social stratification. Cuarón breaks this cookie cutter mold of the “perfect” women represented in telenovelas and gives us the REAL Mexico. The women/backbone of the country and demonstrates to the world a side of Mexico that many times goes unnoticed.

@Jessica Lopez jajajajaja!
"Have you hear of Netflix?" My God, for someone that is always talking a bout the racist government and sitting on such a high horse, that was some very stupid comment.
Lina Niño Agree!
@@alizasminilibrary Most people when reading a book don't look up the authors biography. Most people when going to eat don't care who prepared the food. Most people don't care who the director was in a movie. I mean if you can name all of Harry Potter's world directors I'll be surprised. I wouldn't have judge her for not knowing who Alfonso was, but Netflix? We live in a globalized world. Phones are taking over the world, internet is something most people know about. And Netflix has become one of the Top entertainment apps.
I think it was an inoffensive comment but quite ignorant of him to say that.
@@alizasminilibrary Well no, a lot of people don't have aknowlege about directors just know the movies and that's it but Netflix is so famous that it would be weird if she didn't know about it
@@breadsmile I dont agree I am Greek and I know who Alfonso Cuaron is. He is not just any director he is Cuaron!!!!
@@lenaannis8787 You're right he's not any director, but even as a mexican i know that there's people who doesn't know who he is sadly, just like her she knew his work but not his name and who he was exactly
Being a child from indigenous parents is actually very inspiring seeing ROMA as an Oscar winner 😭 siendo Mexicana Americana estoy bien orgullosa 🇲🇽
Yalitza Aparicio wwoow
She is so POWER woman.
Thats why se is on the movie.
Can you imagine if she speak English?
Jimmy thank you for doing that. As you can see theres more love towards you than hatred. That means alot to me because it’s refreshing to see someone like you who is famous and who’s word is worth something appreciate and give a spanish speaking person a chance to be in your show. Gracias 🙏🏽
Hermanos latinos. Saludos desde Argentina.
y por cierto, amo la película

thank you!
Gracias por Leo Dan

I can’t believe this is happening, Proud mexican 🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
Full blooded MIXTEC INDIAN woman.
It’s her achievement not Mexico’s, people should stop feeling proud of their countries, don’t take it the wrong way, you can feel happy, proud (of her, personally), but a national feeling is completely nonsense because we did nothing to be what we were born to...
Contacto Le Quotidien disagree, growing up I never saw many Mexican role models to look up to (except my mom of curse) but seeing Yalitza being recognized more should be an achievement for her and her country because she’s representing it.
Rosas Rosas it’s not an achievement for the country... mostly coming from a country that marginalised people like her, it’s her achievement and her’s only, and in Mexico of course there’s a lot of women that have done great things and have been role models... the problem is that our culture does not prioritise women’s achievements, and as a country we don’t acknowledge other Mexican’s success...
Contacto Le Quotidien that’s exactly why it’s an achievement for the country!because people like her are marginalized..sadly. It’s an improvement and a step forward.I can tell that the people are so proud of her. Even with that, there’s still a lot of work that needs to be done.
Today I saw the film. Omg it's so good. Love the actresses and cinematography
Wow!!! Thanks for the space!!! 👌💖🙏

Why did he ask Yalitza if she knew what Netflix was and not Marina? 🤦🏽♀️
institutionalized racism
I dont know what is Netflix
@@carolinaleonreyes5904 very much abundant in Mexican sadly.
Racism/classism
Kimmel had asked her if she knew who Cuaron is and she answered no. So he went on to ask about Netflix just to make sure, I guess.
Let Guillermo finish translating dang it.
This movie bought me to absolute tears. I'm really glad I saw it and that it's getting so much love this awards season. Hopefully it'll win many oscars! Well done to these amazing ladies and the other actors including the children.
Congratulations Yalitza!! Being white and blond doesn't mean that you are going to be talented, smart and loved. She represents our indigenous woman. So proud of her. Bravo
I absolutely agree on all counts. :)
You re pretty Martha, kisses for you
Peña Liekens How is that racist? Hollywood (and the acting industry in general) has always favored tall, skinny, (mostly) white women. Obviously now things are changing but people still don’t want to accept her if she’s not light skinned, light eyed, tall, and skinny like other Latin actors. Latin America is still very racist and very colorist even with their own people, when have you ever seen a Mexican woman that looks like Yalitza make it big in Hollywood? Meanwhile you see mainly white women.
Very good comment Martha G.
Maybe do not say “our indigenous woman”... that sounds like indigenous people are occidental people’s pets and we are proud of them. She is just a woman from Mexico who has an amazing talent for acting, and we can all admire her for that and for the amazing human she is.
Viva Guillermo, he did an amazing job❣️
I’m so proud of Yaritza!! Wow such an amazing woman n that confidence she caries is admiring.. hopefully she continues in this acting career!!
”Had you heard of Netflix?”
Just wow.... Kimmel.....
Yes , stupid question .... she isn't an alien, she is from Mexico .... a few km below USA.
Fue una pregunta pelotuda realmente.
@@SebastianPerezG he acted like the most stereotypical American. I love Kimmel, but that was cringy to watch.
Since Netflix is an American company some people don't realize how big it is overseas.
For real tho 😒😒😒😒
She comes from a small town in Mexico, why would she know about Netflix by necessity? She did not know about Mexican Cuaron.
I love this interview, so natural, so real, and such innocent Yalitzia that is hard to find someone like her now in days! Congratulations to all the Roma team that make this happen!!!! And of course best vibes and praying for the Oscar they really deserved! Amazing touching movie!!!! Mexico must be very proud of all this beauty and extraordinary ladies!
This movie touched my heart so much! I mean I seriously cried tremendously throughout the whole file. Beautiful story.
Why were not there three seats? She had to share her sofa 🤔 Why was not there a professional translator? Why did not he ask more relevant questions? Yalitza deserved more respect!!😡
Because Marina speaks English and Kimmel probably thought it would be funny to have the other dude translate
Wondering the same thing. Surely they knew before hand that she would need a translator. This interview was uncomfortable.
@@LifeinLithuania Marina speaks English. She was most likely going to translate
