There's actually a good lore reason for gnome warlocks being sent to Stormwind to do their voidwalker quests during Vanilla. The NPC that sends you to SW tells you that much of their training has had to be curtailed since the evacuation of Gnomeregan as they are under close watch by the dwarves, as they don't trust warlocks. Thankfully the human warlocks are much more secure and have agreed to help out. There's even a later quest given out by one of the human warlock trainers to kill a Stormwind noble that has been trying to stir up trouble for the warlocks.

Honestly. I remember in mists where you can sacrifice the voidboi and be use dark apotheosis to be a tank. Man. The good old days when leveling was fun as a lock

You forgot to add some trivia about sacrifice: in patch 3.1.2 was changed to no longer killing the Voidwalker, but instead only sacrificing a portion of its health. Also, it was removed in Pandaria.

This makes me want to play on my warlock again lol, this brought back memories from BFA demonology and having like 20 imps, 2 doggos, a fel guard, and a shit ton of meteors
BFA demo still is really great, and my favorite BFA spec by far.
But wotlk spirit/spellpower support demo lock is still my favorite spec ever, and one ive been trying to get hiru to let me make a video on!
I do miss metamorph, but i really like the "summon all the demons" style we have now, i wish we had a mix of the two..
I currently main warlock in both classic and bfa so I am glad there's finally Hiru's video about my fav voidy boi 😊😊
on my server (german) back in the day it was called "Müllbeutel" (trash bag) not "Bluebarry" ^^

I always loved voidwalkers, since when i was a noob and i summoned this chunky guys my first time.
I remember seeing felplague try to do the Supply the Assassins achievement. Man what a grind.
yeah man took forever, but it was worth it, i have 3, soon 4 legendary essences now.
When i first played a lock in vanilla, my guild druid tank kept calling him my VW. I didn't get it at first and thought it was because he was the size of a VW (car). It wasn't until years later that i put 2+2 together. V+W = Void Walker... I am an idiot. But i think VW (car) fits.
I love playing my two warlocks. It’s nice to have your own personal tank.

A lot of his warlock themed scripts are written but his editor who only plays warlock, so I'm assuming its from his own personal vocabulary for it.
It's been called blueberry since launch, ask in any city chat or warlock forums.

I remember the name Blueberry being used all the time up until mid wotlk and the introduction of dualspec. After that every wl had a demooffspecc for dailies, and you stopped seeing voidwalkers in the open world (and if I remember right, demo was the strongest wl specc at this point anyway?). No more blueberries in the game-> no more blueberries in the minds

I sacrifice my voidwalker all the time when grinding rep. that heal means you really never have to stop and drink. really helpful when you can nuke the mobs with shadow bolts and just keep going.
In Classic I used Sacc Voidy so often to run away when I got too many adds or when things went wrong.
interesting in classic I never use void walker cause quest is rng on horde side, so I made sure to get fire shield for my imp and helps my leveling alot
warlocks are not all about demons you know, shadow isnt the same as fel magic and the basic spell of a warlock is shadow bolt
warlocks are always searching power of different places and transcedental creatures, fel and void magic are just the best to give quick and easy return in terms of power, hence the voidwalker
In MoP Grimoire of service: voidwalker disarmed its target when summoned. That got changed in WoD to only taunt.

The shivarra got updated btw, also in bfa there has been a change to how aggro works so it causes problems with how the blueberry deals with tanking as well as them messing with how they scale with Ilvl also making it worst for tanking.
First part is incorrect, just sopent 5000G to check i.imgur.com/S99p5FF.jpg still the old model, yes there was an update for shivvarah, as is there for fel imp, and for oberserver, however those new models are yet to be applied to the warlocks summoned versions.
I wonder if you will cover the daemon/doomguards since their history goes back to warcraft 1 and 2?
The daemon is a unique case as it's design seems very different from any other enemy in warcraft 1 or 3. In fact the only creature to resemble the daemon since warcraft 2 was in legion with the felbats. Thats 2 games and 6 expansions between their apperance!

You forgot to mention the sacrifice+hellfire combo for sweet aoe damage without getting interrupted when you take the aggro of your unhappy tank

Although i do say hopefully soon the infernal will get fixed, as currently on classic you cant troll with it.

I'm pretty sure Dimensius the All-Devouring is a proper Void Lord. Voidlord and Void Lord is the same thing. Dimensius is just weak because he doesn't have a titan worldsoul to fuel him, he's draining energy from the Twisting Nether and devoured an entire planet just to stay materialized in the universe for a little longer. The form we see in Outlands is but a shadow of his true form.
Voidlord and void lord are very different things in lore, i reccomend looking them up on wow wiki and the such, especially dimensius.

You forgot to mention that the Sacrifice spell doesn't actually kill the void walker in Wotlk (and bc? ), it just consumes some hp and gives a huge shield to the caster

It means that - For example, if you would get 100 mana for each HP sacrificed or similiar - the gains would increase without the cost increasing. A straight buff so to speak.
You forgot to mention that during MoP when you used Demonic Sacrifice on your VW it gave YOU the 20% increased Stam buff and if combined with other cooldowns and destro during MoP you basically became a god for a short duration and almost nobody could kill you during PvP

5:40 Improved Voidwalker improves how much threat they can generate. This is important because at around lv 30, it becomes very hard for the VW to hold threat for anyone not speced into it. also, 6:36 what affliction talents? was this early vanilla because there aren't any in classic.
Dark pact- allowed you to soak mana from your voidwalker
supression- means they resisted aff spells less often, which includes curse of shadows, which makes the void walkers taunt miss less
dark pact is very generic as it effects all demons the same way, except voidwalker with the least mana. would eat up all its mana super quick.
And supression is abit of a strech, why we didnt include it.

Okay, 1 question. The first is where did you got the info, that in 9.0 it will be Felwalker?
Aaand it is sad thet in BfA it's he is useless in a fight with more than 2 enemy :( but it can tank really good in single target encounters

I miss having to level for warlock demons. Getting your felguard at level ten just feels dumb and boring.
You forgot to mention that the void walker has always been the defualt tanking pet.
I really wish Warlocks could customise their minions - rename them - cosmetic changes etc.

It's only kinda useful for leveling anymore.
It used to be really good for PvP too in certain situations.
In vanilla-cata it was good for the sacrifice, and for the fact that when SL build it could tank the most hits. You could run with a VW out in any situation if SL build, and sacrifice the thing asap -> summon a proper pet for the matchup with fel domination.
And I personally love the sustain PvP playstyle that SL+Voidwalker allows in classic. You basically sacrifice voidwalkers to recast them during fears, for more sacrifices. With a 15min backup CD to get a pet for up SL if you fail.
In mop the voidy could disarm, which made it a solid choice for aff spec to use against rogues (since seduction was kind of not useful for all situations as affliction). And it was good for destro to play vs undead/warriors that could immune seduction.
Even while leveling, the sacrifice ability is really interesting. Sacrificing your voidwalker to pull of incredible feats like facetanking 3+ mobs while channeling hellfire feels so epic. There is nothing that makes me feel quite as epic in retail. It feels like an exclusive mechanic since only mages are really able to AoE farm, and even they can't tank the mobs while doing it.
What makes it interesting, is living in a world where 3 mobs will totally annihilate any other caster, while preventing any casts, let alone channels.

Anyone else think that warlock should have a sacrifice spec where you sacrifice demons to give yourself a decent burst damage or maybe you sacrifice Minor buffs for larger damage

you only forgot about one thing hiru... in bfa blizzard has nerfed aggro overall with the intentions of making tanks actually have to work a little bit better with the aggro, however, because of that the void walker sucks now, he can maintain a single opponent just fine, but if its aoe oh boy, its a nightmare
Bfa really killed the class fantasy for warlocks. No more doom guards , just some spiky prick called a tyrant. Infernal is a 3 min cooldown , and is the only time destro gets to shine. And as a demo main , I hate that I have to choose between the demon that my class is unfortunately designed around. Or being able to interrupt spells in mythic.

Yeah, old blue can’t hold threat for crap. You tank what you are trying to kill, and he offtanks everything else until you start attacking something he is tanking. Or you run away.
The only way he tanks any damage is if you kill him and make him into a forcefield.
Too much aggro, enchant your cape with discrete spellthread, in tailoring if you have it. (Bfa)

When researching i saw that, but could only get info on it from private servers, so i felt best to not include it, as it was minor and unsure if it even worked in vanilla, as private servers had alot of weird stuff like "wands getting attack speed buffs from quivers"

we did succubus already, the only demon left is felguard, but once the felguard is done we are thinking of revisting some of the older videos, so maybe then succubus. however that likely wont be till 9.0 as the succubus video was last done in legion.

It was a joke. This video was made way before we knew anything about Shadowlands.
Leveling a warlock in Classic honestly made me think of it as a noob trap. It can barely take any real punishment and hits very weakly. I've found the imp makes for a much better leveling pet as its firebolt deals decent damage and Blood Pact and Fire Shield are great utility skills.
i used it for along time, then switched to succ-drain build dives made, worked wonders. although now that i am max level, i use the void walker out in the world while farming, basically i just dot a mob, let the voidwalker tank it, then i go kill another mob on my own.
Weird, I played vanilla WoW and the voidie was always the most reliable pet for me until TBC hit, I got a Felguard and never looked back
I agree the void does crap dps and it can't hold aggro unless you stop attacking for 15 seconds every pull. With 3/3 improved imp he hits as hard as my wand, the Stam buff is ok and fire shield hits for about the same as a voidwalker 😆. Imp master race!
@@kwicksandz There is a theory going around in the warlock places of it being abit off, that it should be abit stronger, but for some reason is bugged in classic, as alot of our spells are, like curse of tongues rank 2 not working.
@@RazanaArcclaw I hope that's true but I played back in vanilla and even then I sorta remember the void sucking at everything and only bring used for sacrifice. I always felt vanilla pets where way too weak and situational for warlocks. The felguard did ok in BC but even the people mostly used it for the charge stun and not it's dps. What I wouldn't do for a hunter cat style pet.

By making the doomguard and infernal permanent they had to nerf them, effectively removing the ability to summon a super powered demon from the game entirely.
And in the process they managed to make the other demons irrelevant, effectively turning a pool of 4 situational demons + 2 big cooldown demons into a pool of just 2 demons.
I want the old Doomguard back and I want it to be a fucking menace again.
Eh, I never used the voidwalker as a destro lock in vanilla. Imps extra dps and stam was much more useful, even on garr.

Thats a possibility. But kind of unlikely as a lot didnt change much from legion. I'd rather remake some of the history videos I made back in MoP first.

I never got why and how warlocks get to control a void creature, like it was a regular demon (I mean lore-wise)...
originally the void was just a demon thing, like "the twisting nether" but eventually as blizzard made the void its own thing, they stated the voidwalker, while odd would stay with the warlock because of how iconic it is, even though it really shouldnt be a demon for the warlock.
I mean, warlocks only want power, and aren't really restricted to fell. I always saw affli as mesh between fel and void. I also can see warlocks binding creature of the void to serve them
@@mihailov2801 true, the only time afflic uses fel is to summon the other demons, one of the sides of the lock portal, and shadow bolt has fel in it too.

4:10 The felhound didn't have any damage dealing ability either.
It used to have a silence, a dispel (which healed the felhound so you are wrong again) a stealth detection and some enemy damage reducing ability I believe.
But your right the felhunter did not have a damage dealing ability till wotlk, i spoke with a fair few other warlocks, and a few of them said the felhunters spell lock did damage for awhile in vanilla.
the dispel was not a direct heal, yes it could heal but it required a specific scenario, where the voidwalker could just right out heal itself whenever it wanted as long as it was out of combat, it was directly a heal, not a "do something specific that gives you a heal"
Really? They got better? Imo they got MUCH worse. My voidwalker lasts maybe 1/4 as long as my imp on a good day. It doesn't seem to heal itself and though drawing agro is cool and what I wanted it for it can die to a regular enemy my level if I just send it to attack on it's own. Pretty quickly too. I mean I am level 20 sure, but it's supposed to be a tank.

Thats fair. Basically I put as many in that wont piss off my entire audience (I do this for a living so I'm not gonna lie to you all about this). So I go with a youtube standard amount. The problem with doing that on this channel is that the WoW side of youtube is really bad at monetizing their videos correctly on a whole, so mine will stand out unfortunately in comparison. Whereas on my yugioh channel where I use the same amount, no one bats an eye because everyone on the yugioh side of youtube does the same amount as well.

Though I know I'm on a minority group, I'd recommend YT Premium for anyone that can get it, not only does it remove ads on all platforms, as far as I know, content creators get better monetization from it.
I generally watch your videos on my phone, before taking a nap, or going to sleep for the night, so ads would get annoying quick, that's where YT Premium makes the whole experience a lot better.
