Usually had to form a 10ish man raid group to kill him, although making a raid made quest items stop dropping, his phylactery became a right clickable object and so all you had to do was kill him :3
The Lich King would be more accurately called a Lich prior to his merge with Arthas, since the Ner'zhul was an undead entity granted such power by another being, Kil'Jaedan. His philactary would obviously be his crown, since that is what bound him to Arthas and later Bolvar. He's basically a wearable Lich.
I really hope Blizz does something with Gunther Arcanus. Based on his story, he could possibly be an unbelievably powerful character, even more powerful than other very established characters we have.
Could be a really fun Tom Bombadil type. Just an incredibly powerful entity that just doesn't know or care that it is, and thus this is why he hasn't interfered in any of the wars. He simply doesn't consider it his business.
You said Kelthuzad was raised by Arthas after he became the Lich King, but that's incorrect, it was after he became a deathknight/an undead. He was not the Lich king at that time (WC3 Undead Campaign)

I don't believe Arthas became undead just corrupted into a deathknight(he's the only DK with normal human eyes in Warcraft 3). That's just me being nitpicky but yeah you're right.

Also idk if Rage Winterchill is in Wow but he was a Lich in Warcraft 3. He is the lich from the last fight against Archimonde where he leads the attack along with some other champions of the Legion

Except that humans, dwarfs and gnomes werent created as fleshy beings. Yogg'Saron cursed them and turned them into flesh while the Titans created them out of stone and metal.
I just killed #9 on my 3rd priest I'm levelling and geez the music in "The Bone Pile" is terrifying, never mind you travel through "the murder pens" before getting there on top of that.

what about Morbent Vil? The lich of Duskforest that is basically immune to all damage and needs items from dirt piles to weaken and kill , while surrounded by hundreds of ghouls in crypts
Your top 10s can be a bit inconsistent with things like power in play. After hearing those stories I'm convinced the top 3 are: 1. Kel'thuzad 2. Gunther 3. Amal'thazad
You should make a top 10 Lore important Dungeon bosses, about bosses with more lore revelance than those raid bosses made out of thin air you mentioned on this video, but were confined to mere dungeon boss status, or at least werent given proper raid boss status until later like Anub'arak in Wotlk

I recall a vanilla quest for horde players in the Hillsbrad Foothills. This Human was conducting the ritual to become a Lich when the people of South Shore caught him. They buried his body in the cemetary to the north of town. As Horde players you entered the Yeti cave there to finish the ritual, empowering a wand. You then went to his grave - inside hostile territory - to reanimate him. Swearing vengeance upon his enemies, he then proceeded to trash around South Shore for a bit until Blizzard buffed the guards. - so during BC and WotLK he'd just get one shot. - #Nostalgia

It was quite clearly stated since the quests in vanilla that they respect him so much for being one of the few ones (if not the only one) that was able to free himself from the will of the LK before he got weakened, that they gave him the honorary tittle of "Lich" Hence why he is NOT a floating skeleton. He is just a regular undead that people likes to call "the lich"

One example of this is The voices in Alliera almost demanded her to kill Sylvanas in a hysterical almost in panic like aversion as if IT was afraid

It doesn't even make sense in the canon of WoW, where people have fantastical names, there is LITERALLY NO HUMAN with an apostrophe in their FIRST NAME. They are a young race, compared to trolls or night elves, but they should have enough outstanding characters to make a top ten: Liadrin, Lorthemar, the windrunner sisters...

Ah Gunther! Met the sod over 10 years ago while lvling an undead warlock who I made with the sole purpose of griefing a former guild leader on the alliance side in vanilla. Had to buy 2 accounts as back in the day there was one faction per server limitation. She quit the game so I waited 2 years up until WotlK came out when she started playing again. I am sure she had fun leveling in Northrend while being ganked and corpse camped all the time. Ah the good ol' times. When they say *old hatreds* in Battle of Azeroth pff.. boy you have no idea what went down back in the old days. Was worth it Gunther, well worth it!
necromancer class is unlikely, as it would just be a mix of DK and Warlock. blizzard even talked about it on a few devstreams. Dk's were also supposed to be able to choose between plate and cloth, depending on spec. one spec being a caster spec. they then decided dk's should only wear cloth and gain armour from something else. they eventually settled on dk's being a melee class for whatever reason.
I think if they were going to add a Necromancer class, they would’ve done it in Shadowlands. You couldn’t ask for a more thematically appropriate setting than that. Of course we don’t know what the next expansion will hold, but we’ll find out on April 19th!
I kind of wonder if Frostmourne acts as a sort of psuedo-Phylactry for the Lich King as it harvests souls and it just so happens to be when Arthas' dies, the sword is broken.
Also, the OG Lich King was a lich. Then Athas LK is the fusion of the Lich King with a Death Knight, which i guess can still be considered a Lich. But the current LK, Bolvar, is not. Hell, is even hard to explain what he is, as he is an undead technicaly, but not a regular one, as he was created by both the blight created by Putress, the flame of Alextrasza, and then raised by the LK, yet not controled at any point. It seems to me that most Liches can use frost and shadow powers, but i guess he would wield fire and unholy? maybe?

A Necromancer class sounds fun but I can't see a gameplay difference between them and what we now have with demonolgy/afliction warlocks and unholy DK's
Bringing someone back to live just so that you can kill them for good. Brutal. Also Gunther is a total badass. Casually resisting the lich king his controll and then just chilling out.
Have Necromancy be a Mage Spec. Combine Fire and Frost into Elemental, then Arcane and Necromancy. There has been enough war around everywhere it's reasonable to believe there's always a skeleton or 14 in any given area to raise on the spot.
I don't think there was any hinting at Necromancers being playable in the future; Illidan was simply commenting that Necromancy was useful. The Death Knights utilize Necromancy. Granted I would love to see the option to turn Death Knights into casters.

Kel'Thuzad's phylactery was never found in Wrath, so he isn't dead. I am just assuming Blizzard did it so they have a "break class in case of needed recognizable raid boss emergency"
Man blizzard blew their load so early with Wrath of the Lich King like we really could have waited on that expansion.. but it definitely was my favorite

I don't think we'll ever get necromancers, necromancy was forbidden before the lich king was even a threat so I don't see why they'd be like "well lich King's fuckin' dead, want to see me make this dead guy dance?"
If Kelthuzad was killed then most likely the cult of the damned would never come to be. But that would mean that the players wouldnt go to Northrend and stop Yogg'Saron.
Timolain's story was a bit sad actually more than a Bit and the dark weapon was the counter part of the Ashbringer because he wanted to fight fire with fire.
i saw back in Cata a Human paladin in a BG who had the ,,uncorruptet version'' of the Ashbringer, i asked here WHERE THE HELL SHE GOT THIS THING ? She just said it was back in Classic, i dont know if she was a GM or just the only person in WoW which got it and never told anyone where or how she received it. This is freaking me out I WANT TO KNOW IT !

A Necromancer class sounds fun but I can't see a gameplay difference between them and what we now have with demonolgy/afliction warlocks and unholy DK's

Have Necromancy be a Mage Spec. Combine Fire and Frost into Elemental, then Arcane and Necromancy. There has been enough war around everywhere it's reasonable to believe there's always a skeleton or 14 in any given area to raise on the spot.

I don't think there was any hinting at Necromancers being playable in the future; Illidan was simply commenting that Necromancy was useful. The Death Knights utilize Necromancy.
Granted I would love to see the option to turn Death Knights into casters.

Kel'Thuzad's phylactery was never found in Wrath, so he isn't dead. I am just assuming Blizzard did it so they have a "break class in case of needed recognizable raid boss emergency"
Man blizzard blew their load so early with Wrath of the Lich King like we really could have waited on that expansion.. but it definitely was my favorite

kelthuzad is one of the most used liches, first we killed him in vanilla, than finally kill him in wrath, guess what we kill him again in sanctum of domination

@The pinnacle of human evolution ehhh Maybe the Necromancer only summons Range/Spellcasting undead like an archer or I dare say a Lich because DK's minions are all melee(to my knowledge)...and maybe "Healing" could be a shielding type class (Bone shield-like from Xul) but idk would they really cross since they released Necromancer in Diablo

I don't think we'll ever get necromancers, necromancy was forbidden before the lich king was even a threat so I don't see why they'd be like "well lich King's fuckin' dead, want to see me make this dead guy dance?"
If Kelthuzad was killed then most likely the cult of the damned would never come to be. But that would mean that the players wouldnt go to Northrend and stop Yogg'Saron.
If They also count, do a Corner on Bolvar or D.Mograine.

Killing Ner'zhul before he became the lich king would have been even more affective than Arthas or kel'thuzad and I don't even have to explain why.
Timolain's story was a bit sad actually more than a Bit and the dark weapon was the counter part of the Ashbringer because he wanted to fight fire with fire.
i saw back in Cata a Human paladin in a BG who had the ,,uncorruptet version'' of the Ashbringer,
i asked here WHERE THE HELL SHE GOT THIS THING ?
She just said it was back in Classic, i dont know if she was a GM or just the only person in WoW which got it and never told anyone where or how she received it.
