When I started the channel I kind of established a serious persona that I felt was needed for informative content and I ended up suppressing my own personality as a result. Needless to say I haven't been entirely happy with my content for a while and that's why today was a little different. I have a few ideas for new series that are far more light hearted and with people responding to this video so positively I can safely say that I'm more than excited.

Mythology & Fiction Explained I like the Information about our Ancient Myths and the Old Religions, but we also come to Your Channel because of Who you are and the way you explain things, being yourself adds depth and enhances the Experience, always good to be comfortable with yourself! I'd like to see you do a series about site's like Stonehenge and others, the Ancients deliberately chose Stone's with Magnetite in them creating a Magnetic Feild strong enough to be measured, that was at it's peak during the day, discharging at night. It's been proven scientifically to alter the mood of those inside the concentrated feild, a old Technology mentioned in Ancient Egypt and elsewhere. Recently Science has accepted this as a fact, we underestimate how much our Ancestors really knew and how much they exchanged information. Enjoy your Channel, always interesting and constantly learn something new!

I don't know where he picked it up, but the olympians in The Iron Druids Chronicles have ichor instead of blood, and even if they are utterly destroyed, they simply reform in their divine realm, which is vastly different then what shown with other gods. The celtics and the norse being able to die.(also, the olympians don't die even their heads are severed from their bodies for a long time).
Interestingly, there's the existance of both the greek olympians and roman olympians. The romans imagined their gods differently, with other names so the roman pantheon appeared too.

1.) They never said anything about Christianity (if that’s what you gathered by the mention of church)
2.) Others deities were definitely not accepted with smiles and hugs, on the statement of Christianity and Catholicism (a monotheism) they were definitely not interested in other beliefs. Based on history or what we know of it, the church only wanted to integrate things into there faith by demonizing it for mass persecutions.
3.) There may not be a copious amount of records. But there definitely are/were a lot. From the venuses/statues to the monuments to the inscriptions to the tablets. There is no way we can know everything, but we definitely do have an idea about life back then. And mythologies to say the very least, but as I said the statues, and drawings which were a combination of animals that were hunted, food that was abundant gave us an idea of what they were known for. Even if we don’t have the records, the ability to infer still sticks. (Not great details tho)
4.) And don’t get the idea, I’m bashing or making a narrow claim that they destroyed everything. But they did play an active role in destruction. And disappearances as well (in the further future) a conquistador acted on there faith, and expanse so the knot is pretty firm on there actions and the why of it.

Fuck yeah, Mesoamerican mythology is so cool, I've always been surprised at how underutilized it is in pop culture. I've always loved the intersection of Aztec and Mayan architectural ingenuity with Quetzalcoatl. My favorite example is the one of the pyramids in Chichen Itza, which was built so that every Spring and Fall equinox the way the sun hits the pyramid makes it look like Quetzalcoatl is descending the tower from the heavens. SO DAMN COOL.

To an Australia this video is actually really interesting because there’s a similar giant snake in aboriginal ‘Dreamtime’ which is most commonly known simply as the Rainbow Serpent. Another name is Goorrialla. He/she also is credited as the creator of many things. As the snake moved it made mountains, valleys and rivers. It also created “all” plants and animals (except humans) via turning humans into them.

Love the sense of humour at the start of the video. I must admit, going by the look of Quetzalcoatl, I presumed that he would be a deity of evil, and possibly destruction, rather then a benevolent deity. This may be due to the way many European and Middle Eastern myths depict serpentine creatures as monsters of evil so it's interesting to see a very different interpretation of them.

Thank you for this video! It was wonderfully explained.
I love the symbolism woven into Quetzalcoatl; the great feathered serpent. The quetzal, the Lord of the Skies while the serpent, Lord of the Earth.
Together, the Lord of Heaven and Earth. The creator of all, who rides the winds across the 4 corners of the world and brings life to his people through merciful rains and generous spirit.
Wonderful how so many tribes and vast cities worshiped and revered him. Maybe he was originally the Man/God, you had mentioned in the video, and feathered serpent was a metaphorical way of explaining his nature more easily. Being able to ascend to Heaven but comes back to teach his people.
It was one of the reasons Cortez was so warmly welcomed into the Aztec’s cities. They thought of him as the Bearded God coming back to teach them.
I wish, in a way, it was. The bringer of life, instead of a harbinger of destruction.
How unfortunate; over passages of time all becomes confused and someone, who could have enforced the name of the glorious God of the world, was subsequently misunderstood and appeared as a fierce animal to the Spaniards. Perhaps if they only knew they had similarities they could have avoided at least a little chaos. But who knows...

      @ Eutanasia dePorvida,
How exactly did the Mexica tribe help the Spaniards fight the Toltecas? Toltecas were around during the years 600 to early 1000. Spanish empire on the other hand began their conquest of Mexico in the 1500; 400 years later...
Also, the Mexica tribe arrived in the Colhuacan region as an ally to the Colhuacan tribe. After conflict with the Colhuacan tribe, the Mexica people fled to the lake of Texcoco; were they funded the city of Tenotchitlan (inspired by the city of Teotihuacan). With the help of the city of Tlacopan and the city of Texoco; the triple alliance defeated the city of Azcatzopalco. This triple alliance came to be known as the Aztec Empire by the Spanish; but was in reality constructed by three distinct ethnic groups: the Mexica, the Texcoco citizens, and the Tepenaca.
The opponents of the Aztec Empire helped the Spanish; i.e. the Chichimecas, the remnants of the Azcatzopalco civilization and other enemy city states in the region. The main downfall of the Aztecs (Tenochitlan) was the flu, and the easy city seige due to only 4 entry points into the city.

As someone who's read the Percy Jackson series AND a lot of world myths, the readers seem to forget that Perseus "Percy" Jackson was named AFTER Perseus, Zeus' son.
It was even addressed in one of the books and explained why he was named after a son of Zeus despite being the son of Poseidon. Compared to other demigods, Perseus lived a relatively lucky life. Because of that, Percy's mom named him after Perseus in hopes that her son would inherit his luck.

I know I’m late posting here, but I’d love to hear your thoughts on the story of Quetzalcoatl’s involvement in the creation of the agave plant. The story that I know is that he searched the heavens to find Mayahaul, the goddess of maguey, who lived in the stars alongside her grandmother Tzitzimitl. He found her and brought her back to earth for the purpose of bringing joy and passion to mankind. On their journey to earth they fell in love. Tzitzimitl quickly saw she was missing and sent the tzitzimime (spirits) to find her. When Mayahaul and Quetzalcoatl got to earth they tried to disguise themselves as a plant with two branches. The disguise failed and the spirits shredded only Mayahaul’s branch. In grief, Quetzalcoatl buried her remained and this grew the agave plants. It’s a really interesting backstory for tequila lovers, but I have little to no background knowledge of the Nahuatl creation story.
