If you haven't seen Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow and you like the Headless Horseman I do recommend watching it.
I have watched it and loved it, but I rather meet the Headless Horseman than the Dullahan.
Thanks For this
Mythology & Fiction Explained Looking into this myself years ago I found that the some times the Dullahan resembles the woman driving a horse drawn carriage as the reaper and the headless horseman as a sometimes separate entity , and sometimes with the horses also being headless. I would love to hear more about this creature.
Good movie,
It's fair to say that is a fantastic film!! Such an epic rollercoaster. It's in my top 10 fav film list 🤣😂👍
I think it goes to show how relatively small nations like Ireland and Scotland and their tales and mythology have played such a huge role in stories around the World.
Small? Oh that's not the age of it the size does make a difference but the longevity and the intelligence of the nation but it's all mythology
Legend has if you go out on Halloween you'll meet the horseless headsman. But just give him a snickers bar and he'll go back to normal.
candiigurl7893 pardon me its headless horseman,. U made it walk xD
@@bilatkabayo1972 now hold on a minute. The concept of a Horseless Headsman intrigues me.
Clearly he has no horse so he's gotta walk. Or run. Or possibly jog, he's on foot is what I'm getting at. And I'm guessing he still has a head. Soooo what? He collects heads? He has multiple heads? The ones in his collection follow him around as flaming ghost heads? So many possibilities.
Gilberto Tabares why are u asking me? Im just correcting wht she say's,.if u want to know what it was or what the hell it is,. Go find one, im not pushing my self on this fictional stories,.im just passing by and the hell i saw this 1st comment xD 🤔🙄😆😆😆
Gilberto Tabares does the video describes about a horseless headsman? ..wtf!!? 😆 if your intersted,. Weather it mount's a horse or the horse doggies this shit,.fvckin search for answer's on your own bruh,.But dont ask me bout anything tht is nonsence like those silly question's that's running around on that hollow dome of your's,.grow old and have a fvcin life troll xD!!!!!!! 😂😂😭😭😭
Lol 😂😂😂🖒
Can definitely see Dullahan being a member of the Wild Hunt from Norse mythology. Once it’s after you, there’s no escape, might as well say your prayers to whatever gods you believe in because you’re done for. Beware of the horsemen whom bear no head upon his shoulders, yet let loose a phantom laugh that carries on the wind.
1:54 Dude, female headless horseman should be on a metal album cover.
King Diamond
@@abigailsaoirsefinnegan You sure? The only album cover with horses that I can recall was "Abigail". That one had a coach or a hearse on it, but no femehan.
@@jamesc.2054 I know. I'm saying that he's most likely to use it.

Durarara is where I first heard about this thing.
Damn just saying someone’s name and drop dead? Talk about op. Lol
That is crazy, Celty could have just type someones name riding her motorcycle lol, she would have had the perfect death note .
In a lot of cultures from Middle East on towards the western world their was a belief that names held great power. It was the reason why middle names were created. It was a secret name known only by you and family that way no one could hex you. It’s carried on in tradition even today in spirit but not in purpose. When writing documents you’re only required to give the first letter of you middle name in a lot of western documents because it was just a tradition that still held firm into modern day to the point no one really questioned it.
@@fist-of-doom487 I didn't know that . That pretty interesting. Without even realizing I've always been cautious about telling my full people to .
Goes to say batman but chokes on his words.(:
Did she ever get her head back?
Spirits that carry their own heads are martyrs in the Christian mythologies. Perhaps this is why a pumpkin is substituted in some modern versions or that a pumpkin was more kid friendly for the Disney cartoon.
Daddy AF Religion*
Could be from Jack O' the Lantern, who was such an arse the devil wouldn't let him into the underworld.
@@johnnyvibezzz6372 there are many cases of European folklore that have been consumed into the Christianity.
So being turned into parts of the Christian stories without contributing to the main story this tales in fact falls into the definition of Christian mythology.
So he ain't wrong.
@@user-nz2vk9rq6y Well no just because you consider it mythology doesn't make it mythology its classified as religion, and as far as I'm concerned because something adapts something from a false document doesn't debunk the initial religion.
@@johnnyvibezzz6372 The only difference between mythology and religion is time
I love Irish and Celtic folklore (knowing very well they aren't the same) and various mythologies, can't wait for more videos. If I may suggest a Tír na nÓg and/or Banshees.
There are so many fascinating creatures in Celtic Folklore. I recommend the Finfolk or the various types of horses (Nuckelavee, Each uisce, Kelpie, Pooka etc.)
I clicked off an Achievement Hunter video when I saw this. I am not disappointed as a Dullahan is my favorite Fae out of Irish/Celtic lore or any lore for that matter. So thank you for covering this!
@Joseph Wilson Celtic mythology involves a lot of digging since most of the myths were altered when the Catholics started to integrate their beliefs into the culture, but yes I agree I would love to see more of the Celtic mythos being delved into. Next to Dullahans, Church Grims would be a lovely subject to touch as well.
I ALOUD YOUR DEDICATION TO THIS CHANNEL 👏😎
@Joseph Wilson But, from which tribe? Averni, Trinovantes, Iceni, Belgae, Welsh, Irish, Galatians, Senones, Brigantes or Britons?
can you cover some creatures From Hawaiian Mythology?
Like the Mū. witch described as being sort of a mix between a water imp and a vampire.
The Moho, witch said to be giant lizards
Or the Oahu witch looks like a Giant hovering bird.
A Dullahan appears in KonoSuba as an enemy general who gets ticked off when Megumin launches too many explosion spells at the castle it haunts.
EVERY DAY... EVERY SINGLE DAY!
He also liked to roll his head to wiz’s feet to look up her dress
Anyone remembers the old Disney film 🎞 of sleepy hollow
Yes! One of my favorites
The headless horseman song from Disney
Now, gather 'round while I elucidate
On what happens outside when it gets late
'Long about midnight the ghosts and banshees
Get together for their nightly jamborees
There's ghosts with horns and saucer eyes
And some with fangs about this size
Some short and fat, some tall and thin
And some don't even bother to wear their skin
I'm tellin' you brother, it's a frightful sight
To see what goes on in the night
When the spooks have a midnight jamboree
They break it up with fiendish glee
Ghosts are bad, but the one that's cursed
Is the Headless Horseman, he's the worst
When he goes a-joggin' 'cross the land
Holdin' a noggin in his hand
Demons take one look and groan
And hit the road for parts unknown
And there's no wraith like a spook that's spurned
They don't like him, and he's really burned
He swears to the longest day he's dead
He'll show them that he can get a head
So close all the windows, lock the doors
Unless you're careful, he'll get yours
Don't think he'll hesitate a bit
'Cause he'll flip your top if it'll fit
And he likes 'em little, likes 'em big
Part in the middle, or a wig
Black or white or even red
The Headless Horseman needs a head
With a hip-hip and a clippity-clop
He's out lookin' for a top to chop
So don't stop to figure out a plan
You can't reason with a headless man
So after dark, you kids be good
Stay at home, the way that you should
'Cause right outside, and waitin' there
Is the Headless horseman
Beware!
And I'm gettin' out of here
@Joseph Wilson same but low key lovin it🙈
That was awesome!
Ichabod... Ichabod...
Love dullahan is one of my favorite mythological creature
Its amazing everyone is mentioning Durarara and here i am like, “Yeah, ive watch the Headless Horsemen before Celty...”
My Irish grandmother used to tell me stories of the Dullahan - she called him the Headless Coachman. He and the Banshee were the stuff of my childhood nightmares...
Truly fascinating. I've always had an interest in tales and legends. But to know that there are many tales like this in other countries. To continue with such a story, I play the elder scrolls 5, Skyrim. In that game, you can occasionally see a spectral headless horseman seen in the game. Roaming the countryside by night. I've seen him twice, and he does ride pretty fast upon his spectral horse.
Quick note, in descriptions of the horses used by the Dullahan, I've heard them be described as being headless themselves
I have been waiting for you to cover The Dullahan. After hearing your description it seems somewhat like a cross between The Headless Horseman and Ghost Rider.
The first time I heard about the Headless Horseman was that in fact it was a vengeful spirit that returned to the living world to avenge his unjust death. Commonly, knights were the ones that came back most often hence they were wearing armor and were able to ride a horse so well.
In another version, the Dullahan was searching for his head and wouldn't stop riding until he'd find it. Everywhere it rode death and misfortune fell on everyone that came too close, if the Dullahan would stop riding then someone nearby would drop dead.
Another trick that one could use (besides having an item made out of gold) was to cross a river or a place that had a stream of running water and presumably the Dullahan wouldn't attempt to cross it if the water was higher than his horse's knees.
Another story on the dullahan please!
The Headless Horseman motif has always interested me.
If you care to do more then by all means!
I totally get you. I first saw one in the old 90s game "Kings Quest VII" and I think his wife was a Banshee. Creeped me out as a child XD
Very good man, be great to see your information on Fionn mac Cumhaill, from his childhood to becoming leader of The Fianna an his older jaded years like in "the pursuit of dairmuid an grainne" an the end of Gaelic tales transitioning into more christian/catholic shinanighans.
0:09 after watching tons of this guy's videos, it just dawned on me that the blue book on the table in his intros is a copy of The Jedi Path.
Nice I like this one and would love to see more Headless Horseman videos as I’ve always wondered about the Old World influences on the Sleepy Hallow folklore
A headless horseman is such a simple concept, so it’s no wonder Irvings’ is not the only one...
Perfect Timing! I had just finished watching DRRR X2 not too long ago.
My Irish friend will love this I should have got him on some mythology and fiction explained I shall get you 7 more subs lord
I just look up dullahan last time thanks to an anime. Great video.
Yes! Show us more! I thought it was only an American thing because of sleepy hollow. I was sure it looked European in origin but I didn't know it was Irish. Now I am intrigued about the other versions
I first heard of the dullahan thru the anime Duarara.there is a modern dullahan named Celty who rides a motorcycle & carries a 2 handed scythe.she speaks thru phone texts, since she has no head
Been wanting to hear about the Dullahan for a while.
Thanks for the video.
Please do more about this spirit and others like it I love the headless horseman and would love to hear more please and thank you.
Your video's are all absolutely amazing. The narration is beautiful.. Thank you.
There really is a large distinction to be made between what people usually know as fairies and fae folk in general. The dullahan certainly is a very good example of that.
It was also in an anime
Yep, it was in Durarara!! Her name was Celty, because it is a Celtic myth
Quite a few animes' actually.
You will always be my favourite CZcamsr u are so inspiring and love to learn new things each time I visit the channel
I would love to hear other cultures version of headless horsemen
Thanks for the great content! I love this channel. Would you consider making a video about Crom Cruach? There aren't many videos about the diety.
I would love to hear of the other headless horsemen/women from other parts of the world. This is just the best channel! Great video as always.
Yes please more more on these "Ridets by night but not by sight(no head no eyes and a cool rhyme for fun)

Thx. For the knowledge.
Great video. I would love to hear more about the Headless Horseman of other cultures - actually a comparative look at significant myths & legends that re-occur with different peoples would be awesome!
Yeah I totally want another video
Keep up the good work I love the video
Great video bro
Can we talk about how much of a certified badass the Dullahan is. He is so fucking cool
Yes, please do make another video!
Terrific video 👏💝
That was really good! Never heard of The Dullahan.. cool stuff.
I would LOVE to see more videos about the Headless Horsemen of the world!
You know, I've also heard another story on the reason why Dullahans are headless was that the Celtics people use to worship to a god (I think the one you mentioned in the video) by cutting off people's heads and offering it to the god. But when people stopped doing human sacrifices the god got angry that he became the dullahan and him being headless refers to the sacrifices he uses to get.
Certainly would enjoy more tales of the headless horsemen. Great story here
Would love to see more videos on the various headless horsemen of myth and folktale
Definitely another vid!
Yes, please do more!
Would like to see another video like this. 😃
I definitely would like to see you cover other versions of the headless horseman.
Yes to another video covering them all.
One with all the cultures grim reapers would be nice too.
The Dullahan is my most favorite fae in Irish Folklore
Interesting variation on the Wild Hunt. I also recall an Irish folktale about the Earl of Desmond, slain in the Desmond Wars, as being the Wild huntsman.
I would love to see you do the Washington Irving story!
I'm watching this a couple days before Halloween- perfection!
Well done!
Yes please more stories on the headless horseman from around the world
Hell yeah! More on this character please.
Please more!
Omg I love ur videos plz do more Irish/celtic mythology as not a lot of people know about it ❤❤
Requesting another video about the other interpretations of the Dullahan!
More vids on the headless horseman please!
A lovely video as always. 👻
I'm in love with this thing since the disney version of Sleepy Hollow, I've watched that movie a dozen times, and I've even roleplayed a Dullahan in a DnD campaign against Orcus.
More please!
Another video please!
Thanks for the video i would like to know more on the green man and Arthurian legends 🤔😁
great video as usual thanks , darby o gill and the litte people ,very old disney film about an irishman and a leprechaun the carriage makes an appearance
I've always knew the Dulahan through video games. Most of the time, he would be described as a ghost armor, like in the Monster Rancher or Castlevania series. I had no idea that he was some sort of headless horseman.
Durara had one of these beasties as an important character and even as a pair of characters love intetest.
That was great information! Actually a lot of things I've never heard of before. I have to admit the thought of every door opening in a house seems inconvenient in a modern-day kitchen. 😆
Please do more to cover them all.
I'd like more videos on more head-less horsemen please.
My ancestors are from Scotland so this is pretty awesome.
Definitely more stories about Headless Horseman
More headless horseman videos please.
This was excellent. This clears up something that I was wondering about. I’ve often wondered if The Dark Rider was the same as The Headless Horseman. They are definitely not the same.⚡️👍🏻⚡️🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Please cover more!
I am very interested in the thread of similar mythic headless horsemen for different cultures. Also, I am very interested in books you suggest for more information. Thank you for your video series.
Durarara anyone?
Monster Mosume
Yes, I watched it. I love it.
Fav of all time Celty😎😍😍🤤
One of my favorite
Yes
More videos from you is always a yes 😋 Does the dullahan have some kind of 'origin story'? And why the aversion to being seen? They're certainly not doing anything to be conspicuous. Some kind of signal or warning would be 'nice' 😋
Lala from Monster Mosume would be proud
