- Kukulkan, also known as Quetzalcoatl to the Aztecs, Ehecatl, Gucumatz to the Quiche, A Mayan group located in modern day Guatemala, was the feathered serpent deity of Mayan mythology. He is prominent in many Mesoamerican cultures. He was particularly important for the Yucatec Mayan, but for all Mesoamericans, Kukulkan was a creator god who also brought rain and winds.

But his enemies call him...... NAMOR!!!
😂
Im waiting for this comment 😂😂
Actually in the comics Kukulkan is another mutant and not the same person as Namor, unlike in the cinematic universe.
😂😂
Love Mayan and Aztec mythology a subject not discussed as much as Egyptian or Greek mythology. Don't think people understand how enriched and complex the Mayan and Aztec Pantheon of gods really is
Embarking on a journey of storytelling and video experimentation. VideoGPT gracefully entered the scene, effortlessly adding a layer of professionalism to my content.
The missing folklore can be found today. The problem is, how do you get those who know the stories to tell you, when they don't trust anyone.
Right I really want mesoamerican mythology to be popular
@@velocityhdmi8140 I’m an artist that paints Mayan and Aztec murals using their traditional art style. I also do individual paintings if you are interested
Well we’ll see it with kratos in a few years
What's with the influx of AI voiced content CZcams is pushing my way? Where my real voiced historians at?
Sorry I’m late but this has been a big problem for the last couple years; around the same time all those movie recap videos started getting me popular; they’re all made from “ad farms” in the east where it’s a couple accounts run by one person that make ai synopses of whatever topic it is and the owner of the channels just fills in the video with random no copyright clips. It’s gotten really bad now with how fast Ai is growing to the point you really only need a prompt on what you want the video to be and it will pop something like this out.
TLDR: None of these kinds of videos are made by real people; just Chinese ai advertising/view farms
Its cheaper especially if they cant pronounce the words through nuances. You can copy your voice now as well.
I had not fully recognized this trend. I disagree with it and will be giving my views, likes and subscribes to those who abstain. Just truly a “wow didn’t realize that was happening” thought
Facts. I hate that shit
As a Mexican myself. I’m always learning new things about my cultures past
Not just Mexican culture but Guatemalan culture as well. Guatemala and few parts of Mexico close to Guatemala still speak those old Mayan languages. Up north of Mexico is where the culture starts to disappear but down south is where the culture was really at. Mexico and Guatemala has a lot in common like it or not.
Mayan mythology will forever fascinate! ❤Beautiful culture and stories.
From India❤❤❤
I love different cultures especially Mayan.
We share many Similar values like shredding of skin of snake being a symbol of reincarnation, death and rebirth etc.
Crazy how most of humanity considered storm gods to be the creators of the Universe, despite not knowing that lightning more than likely jumpstarted the chemical reactions that would create life.
Not even lightning would be possible without these storms
Something to do with the heavens
@@richardcastaway7683 oh it still is, static lightning happens even today, but it was far more common when the world’s atmosphere was methane and the world ocean was alkaline
@@bendover9813 cool ! I did not know that bro
@@richardcastaway7683 but still, storms definitely help 😂
Quetzalcóatl pronunciation- KET TZAL CÓ @.
The L in the end of any word if comes after a T, is omitted in the nahuatl language. That's why you can make the exact sound as @ at. Even the word Náhuatl is a good example;
NáU@/NáUat. H is omitted if comes after a vowel letter, but also, the U carries the sound than in english is obtained by spelling two O letters one after another.
Ket is the sound of Quet .
Tzal is the sound of Zal. And Co-@, or; Có at, is the sound of; Cóatl.
My pleasure!
Why spell it that way then?
@@TonyMarselle what way are you talking about?
I'm just trying to help with the pronunciation because I know Náhuatl language is a little harder than Spanish for english speakers, and the way I do is using letters, which in English sound the most accurate possible to the correct pronunciation of the subject in the original language.
If I write Quetzalcóatl in the way that it sounds when is spelled by a english speaking person, I would write down like this;
Cooet zal quato.
Same being with a different name(and language);
Kukulkán although is way easier, it would be Ku cool cán.
Very interesting, thank you. Love learning new things 😮😁
The L isnt omitted, the TL combo makes a unique sound that idk how to describe in text. Its like you position your tongue to pronounce the T in ‘tap’, hold it there and blow air in the on either side of the tongue
Thought this was a monster hunter video for a sec. But I learned a really cool history lesson instead ^^ amazing video love the art and history.
As a mexican, I felt at home with Monster Hunter's glyphs
i visited Chichin Itza over twenty years ago. A stunning place. I actually climbed the pyramid (which i know can't be done any more due to accidents) and its nice to know more about Maya spirituality.
Howl!! Zabimaru!
Similar is krishna. His other local name is maayon. He had a dragon snake and eagle king with him. Around 2000 BC, he was a hero in sangam era in the south of india. In his full form the the snake sesha hoods around him and the bird eagle soars around him. Another dragon snake is Vasuki. The garden of Eden is guarded by two dragon serpents. One of them denotes consciousness and the other one does the void or the empty field. Each coiled around the respective state and field above mind. It means it's protected and guarded and the entry is forbidden fruit mind or matrix. Kukulkan is the sesh nag in India and many different names all over the world and universe.
Thank you for this video
Great info
I just got back frome there what an amazing journey and learning the Mayan culture.
That’s the Aztec Sun Stone at the beginning of the video.
At 6:03 one of the gods contains Pokémon balls . I'm assuming mayans designed the poke ball first. 🤔. I thought it was an observation worth mentioning.
What about Macaulay Kukulkan?
Great video bud! I like your video style!
looks like Kratos isnt done yet
man it would be so fucking cool if the next god of war tackled mesoamerican deities
Always fascinated me how different civilizations thousands of miles apart, separated by vast oceans that never interacted with each other all have their own belief in dragon or serpent gods. Really makes you wonder.
It’s in the Bible
Love Mayan Mythology!!!!! ❤
I find it fascinating that globally. So many different ancient cultures have giant flying serpents in their mythos . 🤔🥃

because satan/lucifer hijacked this World after he cast down from heaven..
I love this !
Mysteries, Hidden knowledge and mythology how beautiful it is
I have an idea for my first tattoo now. Definitely getting Kukulkán on my arm.
Talk about coincides...I went down to London to capture images at a museum for primary research. At my hotel stay, I met a Chinese guy whom I hooked up with. You would absolutely not guess where his next destination was after London...yup...Pyramid of the Sun. Showed me tons of pictures and I grinned from ear to ear. :)
The Feathered Serpent. The Winged Dragon of Ra.
No.
No, just no
uhm, no
Wait, I'm confused by the statement "the words 'sky' and 'snake' have the same pronunciation in both English and Mayan. Am i missing something?
Considering how the narration repeats itself a few times, this whole thing feels like an AI generated video.
@@A.Clifton I was afraid of something like that
Im glad i play smite. I wouldve never took time to look up gods of all religions. I see him and think spirit of the nine winds. Iconic
I remember in Black Panther Wakanda Forever.. Namor is refer to as KuKulkan.
Rise, Talokan!
Could Kukulkan be the Rigvedic "Vritra" by any chance?
He told me his name in a dream and when I saw him I wasn’t afraid but unnerved to see and hear him and he wanted to work with me
I love this culture so much I'm so glad I'm a part of it
I've gained so much interest in last year
🌬️🔥
Me too!!!!!!
🤘😎😈
How is that possible? I thought the culture collapsed, the teachings lost, the population dispersed, and the temples and cities abandoned?
Yeah, the bloodline is still around, and some buildings are still known, but I thought that was about it?
@@danorris5235 that's just the tip of the iceberg
Cool
That looks like Renji's Bankai in Bleach.

Yo Thanks for the Video, it’s well composed and has cool illustrations.
I wonder if the 91 X 3 + 92 was a motif for leap years 🤔❔
Another cool detail: The stone blocks establish acoustic intervals that mimic the sound of a resplendent quetzal bird, which looks like a winged serpent. It’s interesting that Quetzal is a serpent-like bird and coatl means serpent, so there is a redundancy and emphasis on the snake like quality of Quetzalcoatl, the feathered serpent.
Given there is an ocean on either side separating America from Africa & Europe, how fascinating it is that the Hebrew religion considers the serpent a symbol of wisdom; a snake is a nearly blind creature which has to stay low to the ground. Quetzalcoatl was a healer and teacher, somewhat similar to Thoth of Egypt, who taught the arts of healing, magic, and thaumaturgy. The trickster god of commerce & communication, Mercury, wields a winged serpent staff. There is an overlay between solar gods as well, given the significance of the equinox and the Sun’s path of diminishment and renewal, the promise of his inevitable return. Another fascinating detail: snakes move by oscillating in a fashion that resembles frequency, somewhat like a plucked guitar string.
It’s funny that they considered our movement astronomically snake-like, oscillating to and fro in the precession of the equinoxes and the dance of an elliptical revolving body of the heavens.
Was my main in smite when I played that game
I don't know how I got here, but it's certainly interesting.
Absolutely losing it that you let the AI pronounce “Quiche” like the French egg pie, oh my god
I know much more about the Aztec version of this god and his role in the creation of humans, than the Maya version. I think he is a creator god in the Maya religion too? Also, when you say the words for sky and snake have the same pronunciation in English and Mayan, does that mean the Mayan words for those things sound the same spoken as the English words "sky" and "snake", or that the way English speakers pronounce the Mayan language words is in fact the correct Mayan pronunciation? Great video!
In the Mayan language sky is pronounced Kan, whereas Chikchan translates to snake, so they both kinda sound similar
@@LegendsandMyths444OK thanks!
Depends on the dialect some say kan to mean snake hence the term kukul CAN = feathered serpent, but some refer to serpents as chan rather than kan. Who knows which one is the original way to say it. Also Mayan have the K’ with the ‘ right in front of k and that creates a glottal stop almost sounding like the click sounds in the South African language called Xhosa. So who knows if it’s kan or k’an to distinguish between sky and snake. 🤔 I’m not a Mayan speaker but I have researched the language a bit
My family is from Northern Hidalgo. I love drinking Pulque. It makes me think of all of ancestors that viewed it as a drink of gods
My grandmother was also from Hidalgo and my family always spoke about pulque and how it was the drink of the gods. Apparently it’s good when one needs to relax and recharge.

Crazy how japan has a dragon that is basically a flying snake.....
In chichinitza The sacrifices were only done as teen children would race across the fields from the playing fields to the pillars. Each piillars is the burial place of a sacrificial life, sacrifice of the winer, and they were usually lower class teens and the families of the winning teen would be the lifted to high class living as it was an honor to be sacrificed for many generation of that teens family. Sacrifices were not as it was seen on everyone may think. The Wayans were not a warrior race. Mayans are very small people. They were farmers and mathematicians. Yes, there were warriors but farmer warriors who worked all year round to live and trade. Sacrifices were only done when the red moons would arrive and shine through the two chambers as a symbol that Kukulkan was coming to provide for the mayan farmers. It's a beautiful, spiritual place to visit. I recommend it. Lots of energy and spirituality flowing through the area. It's a beautiful yet very hot place to visit.
His ultimate hits like a truck, he blew me away one time i thiught i broke my soul 😂
Rayquaza
I believe they were talking about a Dragon
Dragon in many cultures around de world is not a coincidence. species with the ease of materializing
Same with the flood if every culture has described it happening. So i wouldn't be surprised if a dragon like creature existed
Now that we know dinosaurs had feathers..hmmm...
Lucoa?
No offense, but was this done with AI? The narrator repeats a lot of the same things over and over again =(
Though still thankful for the video. Appreciate what I did learn.
