    I wonder how a meeting between Apophis and Jormungandr from norse myth would go. Both are giant snakes/serpents that are supposedly evil, but do kind of have some qualities of a victim. Apophis was just pushed aside by Ra who took over his role as the god of the sun, and Jormungandr was thrown into the ocean by the Aesir gods for basically no other reason than growing too big

      Every mythology has a giant serpent/sea dragon.
      Its likely they all stem from the same character from an Original Proto-Religion that all major faiths later spawned from.

    • @ihadanepiphany1720
      @ihadanepiphany1720 Před 5 lety +124

      Chaos does not equal evil. Chaos IS that force of nature. Think about it, chaos and spontaneity are one and the same. Without chaos the world is rigid and dystopian, it would also be cripplingly boring and stagnant- not to mention that in all of nature destruction is vitally necessary for birth and rebirth (creation itsself). You have to have both order and chaos, that is TRUE harmony. Balance. That said, if you look into the old old stories, the ones before those lost to translation, Apophis actually is just fighting the system and wants to restore unity. He got all fucked up when everyone started fragmenting and turning against eachother. Why? Becausehe knew: I Am You As You Are Me. Fragmentation and turning in on “each other” like this; this is self destruction. Apophis was fighting for reunification and healing of SOURCE self. So youre right Diogones of Sinope.

    At 1:08, did he just say that Apophis was 50ft long? No, no, no, he's at least larger than 50,000ft! (Or just 9.47 miles long.)
    *To put it into perspective how large Apophis probably was:* the asteroid believed to have wiped out the dinosaurs was at least 15km wide.
    Which means, Apophis was only a fraction of the size of Jormungandr. It is said that the "World Serpent" from Norse Mythology, was so massive that it could LITERALLY encompass the entire world, and devour its own tail...

      Apep, long with tail, brings chaos and darkness
      Lucifer is a Greek name, though. The Adversary, in the older Hebrew, was synonymous with a dragon. Long body/tail, destruction via fire. Comet and impact.
      At the end of days, in the Hebrew, Angels will ride dragons down to cause there end times.
      Regardless, in the book of Isaiah 'Lucifer' is said to be in the 'far side of the North'. Perhaps suggesting the comet hit North America, North of the holy lands, on the far side of the world.

      i guess that would explain how his description suddenly changed to him having a stone head
      or perhaps Perseus showed Medusa's head to him. He does have a history of showing giants her head

    • @yodieyuh6077
      @yodieyuh6077 Před 4 lety +2

      A meteor entering atmosphere can be a golden snake with a stone head.
      You could mistake a comet for a Meteor.
      The darkness and chaos follow the impact. And perhaps floods as tsunamis, or detonation of ice sheets.

    The filipino version of apophis is named "bakunawa" which in tribal times here in ancient philippines was depicted as a being who's slowly eating the sun with small bites.

    A dangerous comet which is heading in our direction but (hopefully will not hit us!) has been named Apophis.I think that Apophis as a demon or god of evil originated from the Hyksos people who were Asiatics who conquered Egypt and ruled it for about 100 years so it makes sense that such a divinity stemmed from these oppressors of the Egyptians who were eventually kicked out and the New Kingdom established.

    • @chesterstevens8870
      @chesterstevens8870 Před 3 lety +3

      Well; that's because Egyptians were fairly regularly conquered by outside forces. The Hittites conquered them, as did the Romans. It makes sense that Regicide and un-throning would make it's way into their mythology multiple times.
