I wonder how a meeting between Apophis and Jormungandr from norse myth would go. Both are giant snakes/serpents that are supposedly evil, but do kind of have some qualities of a victim. Apophis was just pushed aside by Ra who took over his role as the god of the sun, and Jormungandr was thrown into the ocean by the Aesir gods for basically no other reason than growing too big
Every mythology has a giant serpent/sea dragon.
Its likely they all stem from the same character from an Original Proto-Religion that all major faiths later spawned from.
Tiamat vs Marduk
Typhon/Hydra vs Zeus
World Serpent vs Thor
The Oillipéist vs Fionn
Ryujin vs Raijin
Leviathen vs Yahweh
There's a very brief nod to the Egyptian pantheon in God of War 4. The Eye of Horus being visible in one scene. So who knows, we may get some sort of nod to that in the next game.
@@zichithefox4781 that is true I did see that. I AM A QUIVER OF ANTICIPATION FOR THAT🥳
The story of Apophis is very similair to the tale of creation of men in Abrahimic religions. Interesting
perhaps they are one in the same
Egyptians must have flipped during eclipses
madscientistshusta - Yeah, they thought that Apep had eaten Ra, but thankfully Ra always escaped!
Ah shit nigga bring the holy books nigga it's going down!!
@@rayanekarouch6088 in order for the ritual to work, you must say nigga one more time
Sadly everyone did
they gave tribute. if anything it was an opportunity to.go to a party and try to get laid.
First thing I thought of was the Kane Chronicles
Annika Soncuya The first picture of from the Kane chronicles
Rick Riordan a goat 🤧
I pretty sure some of these pictures, including the tumbnail, are drawings of carter and sadie in the third book
So I'm not alone! :D

I am curious how the Egyptian would called a solar eclipse. Do they think that Apophis succeeded.
Probably as an ambush by Apophis.
They perceived it as Apep gaining the upper hand in the battle by restraining Ra in his mouth.
My thoughts exactly
@@29gopikrishnap2 CHEAT then rewrite history my themselves out to be the hero .. universal productions 😂😂✌🌈
This is such an interesting question.😄
Wow. He never stops. He's so motivated and determined. Imagine how early he gets up everyday enduring being sliced, hacked, stabbed, and rendered to pieces.
Literally Carpe Diem~
That's actually inspiring, despite the fact that he's doing it to plunge the world into chaos xD
Never would I have thought that Apep was the previous sun-god. Thank you for enlightening me. Imagine if he had won and stayed in that position, would he've become a good god or evil one?
I had no idea he was the previous sun god either! Very interesting
This all I needed to know
A good god
Gotta respect Apophis for his determination!
Albino what u know about Apophis
Soooo much material for the Egyptian gods they're so fascinating and complex! Thier storys of creation are weird and beautiful.
365 nights a year for about 6000+ years. Not a single break.
Both Ra and Apophis have such a determined work ethic.
Jafar is that you?
His Serpent design had to have been based around Apophis at the very least.

Perhaps you’d like to how ssssssssnake like he can be!
Pfft XD
What is so funny I missed the joke.
Teal’c? Lol
11PM: Just one more CZcams video and I’ll go to bed
4AM:
The first picture is related to the Kane Chronicles.. hahaha.. that was Carter and Sadie..
IKR
Good to know I’m not the only one that recognized them
well so as me
I thought the Kane Chronicles was a fever dream. Glad to know it's real.
Ikr ilove those books😝
When i listen to another channel vs yours , your voice wins me over its perfect for story telling
It's weird because that's not a compliment I get in person but it seems to be quite common on CZcams, I guess the way I tell stories differs from talking regularly.
Mythology & Fiction Explained yes keep up-what you’re doing i just started watching and love your videoss
That's why Egyptians built the great sphinx‼️ it's a representation of when (rah) transformed himself into a cat to defeat apophis‼️ the sphinx is actually (rah's head) and a cat's body...the sphinx is spiritually symbolic meaning God is protecting us and the earth💯🙌🏾
He then went on to fight Col O'Neil and SG1 several times
The tv series was crap. Stargate 1994 was incredible.
indeed
I don't think apep is a true villain. He is more of a force of nature that has some good in him. For example he donated his bones to protect the souls of the people in the underworld.
Diogones of Sinope He is the embodiment of Chaos. His only goal is to destroy our world. Plz explain how he is good?
Chaos does not equal evil. Chaos IS that force of nature. Think about it, chaos and spontaneity are one and the same. Without chaos the world is rigid and dystopian, it would also be cripplingly boring and stagnant- not to mention that in all of nature destruction is vitally necessary for birth and rebirth (creation itsself). You have to have both order and chaos, that is TRUE harmony. Balance. That said, if you look into the old old stories, the ones before those lost to translation, Apophis actually is just fighting the system and wants to restore unity. He got all fucked up when everyone started fragmenting and turning against eachother. Why? Becausehe knew: I Am You As You Are Me. Fragmentation and turning in on “each other” like this; this is self destruction. Apophis was fighting for reunification and healing of SOURCE self. So youre right Diogones of Sinope.
@Mullerornis to be fair, predators waited in the dark and the desert. Their demonification may be more akin to human nature, than the nature of the aspect.

These tales of mythology are so cool. I've never heard of a God called apophis but after seeing this his story is interesting. Ra being the one to defeat apophis is also interesting. Nicely done here.
This channel is sincerely one of my absolute favorites. Thank you!
At 1:08, did he just say that Apophis was 50ft long? No, no, no, he's at least larger than 50,000ft! (Or just 9.47 miles long.)
*To put it into perspective how large Apophis probably was:* the asteroid believed to have wiped out the dinosaurs was at least 15km wide.
Which means, Apophis was only a fraction of the size of Jormungandr. It is said that the "World Serpent" from Norse Mythology, was so massive that it could LITERALLY encompass the entire world, and devour its own tail...
Apophis can eat the entire sun which is way bigger than the earth. Apophis can grow to be that large, which is why he was so powerful and deadly
In every mythological story, there's always a giant snake
Facts
Yup titanaboa this god thing
Cause snakes are cool
My new addiction.
I love these stories. Thank you
I’m sure the apophis myth is older.
Ra stole his position.
Some myths were warped to suit those who were in power at their convenience.
the kane chronicles one my favorite book series withing the riodianverse and thanks to mythology &fiction explanied to used carter and sadie
Sarah Stanley if you didn’t notice the first pic was Carter and Sadie I love Kane Chronicles also I just finished today
I'm glad you enjoyed my story.
I just found this channel and would love more Egyptian mythology.
I love your channel. And egyptian mythology, could you do one on their creation in mythology.
I had a snake named Apophis, he didn't live up to my hopes and dreams.
Wtf
lol
Had the same problem with my pet octopus Cuthulu...
Even with all of this, snakes were good in Egyptian mythology thanks to Wadjet, cobra goddess and protector of the pharoh. Wadjet's faith inspired the uraceous cobra headdress, a circlet made of gold, bronze, or silver, shaped like a snake and placed over the atef, a cloth crown worn by the pharoh and high ranking generals, priests, and priestesses.
Jormungand vs Aphophis?
Overlord jormungandr would win
You're missing Leviathan.
Apophis
He is the God/Monster of Chaos, Destruction and Darkness. And the guy how eat Ra at the end. So he eat the Creation in the end..
For me is that a little bit stronger than the Snake they are kill a Thundergod in Ragnaröck.
@@doncalicula7938 jormungandr also will destroy midgard which is the planet earth.
@@tuxedosteve1904 apophis is supposed to swallow the sun
Loved that thsnk you. The art work is amazing 👏 ❤
Thank you, I really in joy your channel.
You are pretty....I know you won't see this since you saw this video five days ago...
You are wierd
Loved the video!!
Wizard101 is an underrated and old mmorpg, but I truly gotta commend them into integrating different types of mythology to make the story of their game. I didn't know about Apep until Wiz introduced me to it and many other mythological characters & creatures within it.
During solar eclipse, ancient Egyptians believed that Apep won the battle. So they performed some rituals to aid Re in his fight
i think i need more Egyptian mythology lol this is a pretty awesome video
That's some serious dedication.
It would be great if you can also cover the twelve kingdoms of the night and the journey of Ra through them every night
Interesting.
Nicely done!
Love these vids
Remember hearing some of these in Star gate
It's actually commonly believed that Ra's daughter Bastet, the cat goddess, was the one who fault with Apophis every day and eventually defeated him definitively.
Very informative thanks for sharing
Love your video's!
this story some what is similar to Lucifer "the son of morning " who was once the son of God and the was pushed aside by God .and now his work is to tempt us against God.
how similar isn't it
Not to mention Lucifer's right hand man is supposedly "Nergal", who the Babylonians also believed in; albeit they believed him to be a gos
Let's not forget that noahs ark is basically a slightly retooled copy of a story within the epic of gilgamesh.
@@thefiregodzapp well every ancient culture has some story or mention of a great flood
Adolfo Avila both epic of Gilgamesh and noahs ark feature wise old men who are warned by the chief deity of the religion about a flood. both build a boat and put two of every animal. both end with the family repopulating the world.
thefiregodzapp Perhaps such stories all go back to the cataclysm that ended the ice age.
Comet.
Lucifer, morning Star, cast out heaven
Comet.
Apep, long with tail, brings chaos and darkness
Lucifer is a Greek name, though. The Adversary, in the older Hebrew, was synonymous with a dragon. Long body/tail, destruction via fire. Comet and impact.
At the end of days, in the Hebrew, Angels will ride dragons down to cause there end times.
Regardless, in the book of Isaiah 'Lucifer' is said to be in the 'far side of the North'. Perhaps suggesting the comet hit North America, North of the holy lands, on the far side of the world.
Why is your voice so soothing ❤
Apophis is actually very cool and awesome!!!! Plus, I really do love Snakes. Also talk about sibling rivalry. Lol.
Thank you I need/want to learn more and this helped
thanks for this video helped me a lot.
Thanks for the vid sir.
New to the channel but love the work
the first image tho The Kane Chronicles loved the books
thanks for the video have a nice day
I absolutely love your videos I find them entertaining and informative. Keep up the good work.
Excellent video keep it up
I love Mythology....great channel
its amazing, thank you
Sobek defending Ra in picture, clever. Sobek's power over water could help speed up the journey through the 12 gates of night.
Great video.
This is amazing
You should do a video on the “Apophis Animal”, or the creature show as the head of Apophis. It’s unique even among the Egyptian gods, and doesn’t seem to have a clear origin. I would love to hear your take on it.
3:29 is kand chronicles too
And the book of apophos brings baje some memories all right
Great job
Awesome video...
just think you were the god of the sun and light only to be replaced by your brother and cast away.
Poor apophis 😢
But what was the reason for Apophis to have been cast aside and replaced by Ra as the new God of the Sun? That's the only part that I've never heard explained, which is pretty important.
@@cokaneds thats something you can only discern for yourself by looking through all cultures religions. Very often, you'll find a serpent god from old religions being villified and defeated by a new storm god.
Shit happens every single day...it has a name “sibling rivalry”....thank God I’m an only child
@@wiilov It seems like a change of archetypes. The Apep could symbolised the old which often worship snakes and other dangerous elements of human life. Snakes are very potent theme. And then new religion set in. It is similar with christianity, viking pantheon and others....new vs. old.
New seems better in the beginning :D but it is still the same in different coat :D
Thanks for a video. I heard this serpent 's name for the 1st time when I read Kane chronicles.
I am now subscribing number 9231!
Fantastic work!!!
Would you please do a full video for Poseidon, if you haven't already.
Peace!
Yes similar to my video on hades, I'll have one soon covering Poseidon in depth.
Mythology & Fiction Explained I just finished the video for Hades video and Hades and Persephone video!
Thank you for this channel!!
I'm glad to see people enjoying mythology.
Glad you made a video about me.
sounds like a nice matchup for Atreus and Kratos to me!
thanks.. im learning some OF MY ANCESTORS
This brings back so many memories from Kane Chronicles
Apophis is definitely a really awesome God of Darkness and Chaos. He actually has a legitimate reason to hate Ra. I'd hate him too if he kicked me out of my rightful place as God of the sun if I was Apophis.
Ra : 🤪.
Please do a few videos on Subsaharan gods like Anansi and Ogun!
For those that are JJBA fans Dio's minions are base on Gods but Dio was base on Apophis, who seems to have tempted the many gods that would have protected Ra on his journey into the underworld every day in the myth to join him instead.
Can you please do a video on Anubis?
I definitely plan too Anubis has always been one of my favourite figures in Egyptian mythology.
Man I love learning
I have never heard of this god.
Interesting deity. Have you given thought about doing a series on Vodou?
what?! you never watch Stargate SG-1 series?
A golden snake with a STONE HEAD? Apophis got attacked by Medusa?
Wait isn't Medusa supposed to be a Greek Goddess
Medusa is a snake gorgan
Sounds like a good crossover!
i guess that would explain how his description suddenly changed to him having a stone head
or perhaps Perseus showed Medusa's head to him. He does have a history of showing giants her head
A meteor entering atmosphere can be a golden snake with a stone head.
You could mistake a comet for a Meteor.
The darkness and chaos follow the impact. And perhaps floods as tsunamis, or detonation of ice sheets.
Love it
Can you hear that . It's Assassin's Creed : Origins with this massive god and it being killed by bayek with the bow powered by light
sorry for the late comment but that bow was the god Ra trasnforming in to the bow
Could you do one on Ra and Amun Ra next please.
i love your videos, keep it up
The filipino version of apophis is named "bakunawa" which in tribal times here in ancient philippines was depicted as a being who's slowly eating the sun with small bites.
I first thought it was kane choronicals ,and am so ashamed i found this channel in 2020,but i love this channel
Nice Carter Kane chronicles thumbnail
Star wars Anakin's dark deeds is music and is 👌
Can you please do the video on the Egyptian god of Wisdom
Winged dragon of ra
jus like the one in stargate
A dangerous comet which is heading in our direction but (hopefully will not hit us!) has been named Apophis.I think that Apophis as a demon or god of evil originated from the Hyksos people who were Asiatics who conquered Egypt and ruled it for about 100 years so it makes sense that such a divinity stemmed from these oppressors of the Egyptians who were eventually kicked out and the New Kingdom established.
Not a comet but an asteroid
God help us when a comet comes close
@@gergopiroska5749 it is not an asteroid, but a ginormous serpent rolled up in a ball like formation! And it is coming to devour the Earth and then the Sun!!!
Always found it interesting that Egyptians didn’t seem to find dethroning a bad thing
Well; that's because Egyptians were fairly regularly conquered by outside forces. The Hittites conquered them, as did the Romans. It makes sense that Regicide and un-throning would make it's way into their mythology multiple times.
hey good job i like look it the show
This thing one shotted me when it spawned in the map clash
Nice I see alot of Kane Chronicle Fans.😃😃
awesome 😆
Kairos the Fateweaver's right head: remember when we got different outfit? I miss my serpent form...

stfu bitch
Cole Robinson, I know this is a joke, but imma geek out.
Num is one of them, like one that was thought, the Egyptians thought that the space was a giant sea, so Num is the primordial deity of spadw
Oh i looooove the kane chronicles
I mostly know Apophis from the Kane Chronicles, since he’s the main villain of the series
