I'm not a Villa fan, but at the time I thought that Gabby had the attributes to be a deadly striker. He was super fast and his finishing wasn't too bad for the level that he and Villa were at. He even made the England squad at times. I thought that he just needed a move to a club higher up the table to get exposure to different pressures, coaching on his shortfalls and having higher expectations; but when I listen to his punditry I realise that his issue was his mentality and he was actually happy at the level that he was. He wasnt aiming to be the best footballer that he could possibly be, he was just aiming to do the bear minimum to turn up for Villa and party after hours.

It's not that Roy Keane didn't accept that Villa players weren't as good as United players, it was that he couldn't accept they wouldn't try as hard as United players.
United weren't just great players naturally, they put in the effort which is something that Gabby never did.
Roy Keane is the kind of manager who will accept teams losing a game as long as he can see they are giving it their all. Teams lose games, that's understandable, but when players are paid fortunes and can't be bothered to try then he has every right to be annoyed.
