Never update your firmware, always disable firmware update notifications, don’t install printer software on your computer that could possibly auto-update firmware.

I used this on a WF-3730 different printer but my understanding is they run essentially the same firmware... I ran this file through virustotal and it had 0 hits and the files all look legit I put my printer into recovery mode and flashed it with the included software but it seems as if it didn't change the firmware at all. So perhaps Epson has put some security measure to prevent downgrade with the latest update.
You followed the guide step by step listed in the description link?
@@ElecTRANCEpeter Uhm I downloaded the file listed and then put the printer into the recovery mode or whatever it's called by holding the two buttons. Then flashed it and it goes through the whole process like everything is working but when it finishes it lists the same firmware that was already on the device and it still gives the error for the cartridge.
@@xryanv same thing happened to me before as well, I don’t remember exactly what the cause was, but I redid it following the exact steps listed in the guide and it worked.
@@ElecTRANCEpeter Uhm which guide are you referring to, the link in the description leads to software that has a flasher and firmware but no guide. Unless you mean the directions in the app itself?
