You hinted at a bit of a choice for Josh Weddle's spot, he is an automatic pick. I am not sure many people realise how good he will be. The guy is as big as any of the biggest mids in the comp. Bont is 192 and 86kg, Perracca is 186 and 94, Weddle is 192 and 92, and is not yet 20 years old. He was best performed in the 2k time trial and the beep test, first day back at hawks pre season training. He is a good decision maker with the ball and a good kick. He takes on the game at every opportunity and is hard to tackle. He will be a weapon whether he ends up as a genuine mid or wing or stays as a running half back.

appreciate all the effort put into this video!! great analogy,, i feel like alot of fine tuning has gone into the best 22, the addition of Karl Amon to our half back line compliments Impey and Sis perfectly, Ambrossio is a perfect addition to our midfield now and having CJ back is bloody GOD mode lol, Josh weddle making some serious improvements very versatile either full back or full to mid forward.

I think our top end mids are promising, we just need a few more who can reliably rotate thru there. Eventually McGuinness may lose his spot to McKenzie or Hustwaite if they develop. And we have a deep back so a few could follow Day and start playing some mid/wing time, like Jiath and Weddle. If Lewis has more injury issues that where our weakness is. Overall another couple years waiting for our recently drafted mids to develop and we may be ready to make the 8.

I really hope Denver Grainger-Barras finally has a breakout year in 2024 and grabs hold of the key back position, absolutely crying out for a quality key defender. I honestly don't think he will though which is a real gut punch having such a low pick go to waste. Must be what it feels like to go for Carlton.

    *Hello there
    If you know you know
Look I'm no fan of Hawthorn never have been. But for the sake of the off season where you can put one's bias opinion away. Well you gotta say Hawthorn do have a very balanced list. Granted it's got work to do in development and on field progression. Yet this can be a side we see slingshot itself up the ladder at any given year from 2025 onwards. I can't say if they'll break into finals and break into it convincingly but tbh there's a good mold of players here and there's certainly a good chance for them to have a consistent year as last year which would be like you basically said "par for the course".
    I'm a North fan btw.

Another commentor said 10-13th, I think thats probably the aim, if we can tidy up the gap between our best and worst, its achieveable.
On this trajectory we should be ok to pick up Cooper Hodge and get ready for our 2028 flag 😅

Good job for a non Hawks supporter. Our VC Dylan Moore and Massimo will be in our best 22. I think CJ is behind Seamus Mitchell and Jai Serong personally but who knows what Sam Mitchell is cooking with this list. I don't think we will jump up the ladder much but as long as we are more competitive and consistent, and the kids keep developing it will be a good sign for the future. Sam Mitchell obviously had the gameplan wrong at the start of the year and had to adjust and adapt quickly. After seeing the game against Collingwood that would have given them all belief they are on the right path. Weddle is going to play a huge role in our success, he could be anything. Can't wait for the season to begin.

Great job for a non-supporter looking in, and must say that I think most of the comments below are totally on the money. I think this will be the year that we start to phase out those with a B grade ceiling in order to allow the budding A graders to come through. I can see the likes of Morrison, Impey, Frost and Wingard starting to make way towards the end of next year, although I think politically Wingard will probably be gifted a few games to help restore the image of the family club.

Really depends if the hawks can consistently keep their best 22 on the park.
Midfield depth is building nicely (Nuke,Worps,Nash,Day,Ward,Amon,Mackenzie).
Reeves 2nd half of the year made some big steps & hopefully rolls on to 24'.
The problem lies in the backline with the lack of a key defender (McCabe looks a ripper but still has to develop) & the fwd line is an unknown quantity.
Lewis & Breust are star quality but Chol even though can show he can play at the level is inconsistent.
Gunston at his age/injuries might be more value off the field than on it.
Playing to their full potential could make the 8 but more realistically 25'/26'.

Great work on my hawks. I dont see Impey, Weddle and Jiath fitting in the same team. I think it would look better with D'Ambrosio in Jiath's spot to try to break lines with kicking rather than running. Jiath has great attributes but many exploitable weaknesses, his handballing is atrocious and his kicking is not great when under pressure. He often gets to contests when he needs to go third man up, hesitates and then either doesn't go or goes late and his oponent is sitting out the back on his own. There is aome genuine depth bulding that has not been there in the past few years. Interesting year, I said this about the tiges too but I would not be totally surprised to see them finish anywhere from 9th-16th. Improvement will come but it is rarely linear. The list is clearly better than last year. The forward line has potential to be very high scoring but may take a bit of time to gel with new faces there and an old new face.

      @spindoctor6385 Před 7 měsíci

@@epektasis242 Yeah, Jiath is looking fit and like he has put on a few kilos too. I have always thought he would be better on a wing where he can be more offensive. He is also pretty good overhead when he just goes at the ball so he can both provide a target on the wing when we have the ball at half back and compete in the air against opposition ruckman trying to provide a target the other way. He is also a pretty good guy to be on the wing at the end of a switch from the opposite half back flank. If he has a little space on a wing, he will run a quick 20-30 and be able to kick deep into the forward line, he is a pretty good kick when on the run, not exactly a precision passer but good enough to kick to advantage side of a forward.

Very good crack at best 22 but it's likely that CJ will play wing and Amon HB this year. So swap them and have Weddle on-field for possibly Impey and I think that's what it'll look like.

Hawthorn would have to be the most difficult team to pick next year - along with Saints and Dogs, the first of whom have a tendency to overperform and then fall off the cliff, the latter of whom seem to underperform 4 years out of 6.
Hawthorn are good enough to make the 8 given a relatively injury free run and more consistent performances, the caveat being that they do rely hugely on Sicily whose absence resulted in their worst losses post the Eagles game.
