I kept checking for a taped reply from BTS for 2022 BBMA and their was none. Check on the Korean awards where you are allowed to buy stars to make extra votes. I kept getting notices that Blackpink fans had more money and other groups were voting so BTS wouldn't win. Check Korea where you can buy votes. That should be illegal. Look in your own backyard. I still have all the comments about buying the votes.

I was literally peeing myself it was so funny. Major news outlets announcing a winner and fans celebrating their group winning before the award was even announced.
And the cherry on top, a completely different group winning. It was so funny. Also it’s a bit sus that BTS did not have a video sent in for their acceptance, considering I’ve seen them send in videos for acceptances a lot before

When BTS won their first award at the BBMAs there was a huge backlash and the following year they changed the voting rules, only accepting votes from certain websites/engines like twitter. It was an obvious effort to block votes from Asia. When BTS kept winning, they created a Kpop category which is a way to send them to their own table, allowing American and Canadian artists to win the major awards. There was another huge backlash from BTS fans this time and the BBMAs discontinued that. Now, mind you, they still had a Kpop category, but they didn't limit Kpop artists to only that category. VMAs did not follow suit. As far as the Grammys... the less said the better. They made a concerted effort to keep BTS out.
So, it's racist because they targeted artists from Asia.
It's corrupt because they used the bureaucracy and the 'rules' to exclude asian artists. Meaning they manipulated the system. Like the radio stations who don't want to play BTS songs: there's no payola in it.
Can't explain everything here, but you will find many video essays on just this.
(Before reading about the payola system in the US, I had not realized how corrupt the industry is.)

@SonderDAze X The eligibility period for award shows are usually limited to a year since otherwise the nomination periods of multiple years would coincide, giving some songs/artists unfair second chances with the same music.
Last year, the eligibility period was till June 30 2021. Which means this year's period begins from then. And the eligibility period would have got over before the nominations were announced for 2022 (i.e. July 26). Keep in mind that July 26 is the last possible date the eligibility period could have extended till, but it's extremely likely that the end date was earlier - probably on June 30th like the previous year.

In other words, they are a true artist. Before when BTS was rising and didn't won much awards, they still went to the award shows to give a performance for army. They even sent their reaction vedio on losing the grammys and showed us the cake that they were supposed to cut when they win. What more can I say? They are the most hardworking, humble, dedicated artist I've ever known.

If I wasn't so damn soft for those happy smiles on their faces whenever they win something I'd have stopped caring about awards and voting a long time ago. It's the only reason I still give a shit about the Grammys, cause I know BTS wants one. And I will continue to care until they get one. the vma’s is particularly wild in the sense that they have both “fan voted” and non-fan voted categories. if you’re not planning to pay attention to the fan votes simply don’t make that category fan-voted - people won’t blink an eye because you already have non-fan voted categories as it is. if manipulation is really necessary to them, why waste fans’ time advertising non-fan voted categories as fan voted when they aren’t? just make it non-fan voted in the first place
I think they do all of this voting process to gain hype and expectation from fans. If they were not to have fan-voted awards, not many people would be tuning in, 'excited' for the VMAs since it has been losing relevance swiftly over the years.

By making it fan voted they get lots of free press as fans share how to vote for their favourites. Especially if you can vote multiple times such as once per day, you give fans an opportunity to make your show part of their daily routine. That makes it very likely that they will spread the word to others and also that they will want to watch the actual show. Why would the show care that they wasted people’s time?

@@bts_is7 huge hot take coldplay deserve so much better from the industry they're selling out stadium tours for years now I don't think they're getting enough spotlight, although they're all very humble so it's probably nothing too much of a big deal for them but still it pisses me off how genuinely huge names tend to take a back seat and industry plants and such are always making the biggest noise.

Saying that yg started Blackpink to stop BTS is senseless . Blackpink debuted in 2016 and BTS started getting recognised worldwide during 2017. Blackpink gave hits after hits from their debut and when BTS started to pave way for kpop Blackpink too got recognised due to their songs. Blackpink had made and broke the records just like BTS did . So downplaying the achievements of a group and saying that they buy achievements just because they are compared to our favourite is immature. Both BTS and Blackpink are huge and successful groups with immense amount of fans.💜

As a fan of both groups, it really sucks that these award shows and the media only see them as "the token K-pop group" to use for views and clicks, they both deserve better than that. If Ed Sheeran was outright told that he only won bc Pharrell didn't attend, I'm willing to bet that BP knows they only won bc BTS wasn't there, which must really hurt them. As much as it's great to win awards, I'm sure they would've much rather wanted to lose authentically than be dragged through vote manipulation and mediaplay only to have one of the awards they "won" be redetermined at the last second; they must feel like they were only invited to be essentially "discount BTS". As much as the VMAs, media, (and probably even YG) don't want to admit it, Blackpink is Blackpink and BTS is BTS; they're both their own groups, not replacements for one another. They both have talent, success, and uniqueness in their own ways and should be treated as such, not as though one can easily be exchanged for the other like they've been treated for years.
And about the K-pop category...so one year a Korean group singing in English wins with not a single Korean lyric, implying that the category is purely based on ethnicity; the next year a THAI artist singing in Korean wins implying it's based on language, even though half of the song was in English?? Same with the Latin category, the VMAs are treating culture like it can be bounced around based on their stipulations year after year. They really need to get their shit together bc I've just about had it with the hypocrisy and blatant disregard for anyone not white and English speaking

I’m also very afraid that other award shows will follow in the vma’s footsteps by adding a K-pop category making it nearly impossible for a Korean artist to win an award outside of that specific category. It’s because they don’t want them “stealing” the awards from western artists and that really upsets me. It's been known for a long time how xenophobic Hollywood can be but now that non-white/English artists are becoming bigger and at risk of taking the attention and awards away from their stars they have to create new categories to keep them "in their lane". It's why when Despacito was getting big they immediately released a version with Justin Bieber, so that even if the song wasn't fully English, at least there was a white artist to get the attention for it. It's why the only BTS songs I've heard on the radio are their English ones or BWL (only w/Halsey tho), bc they need to be English or feature white artists to be considered 'good music' even though BTS (and other K-pop groups) sell way more albums/concert tix than many of those white artists and have 10 times the passion and talent

Blackpink probably too happy to see sunlight after being in the dungeon for 2 years to be embarrassed. And, to be fair, I'm sure Blackpink knew there were a lot of Blinks rooting and cheering for them, so even if the awards weren't earned honestly, they want their fans to be happy, so they smiled and posed and graciously accepted the awards. Considering Blackpink don't make their own music, their influence seems really limited, and I doubt they could take the moral high ground publicly without fear of backlash from their company.
@@DB20204 YES, I completely agree. People seem to expect idols to have much more say and input on issues like this when they often don't have input on most aspects of their career in the first place. It's almost like people expect them to behave with the freedom that (some, not all, because there are plenty of artists that lack the freedom to speak up in the west, too) western artists have.
There's also all the controversy surrounding idols interacting in public, or even acknowledging each others' existence. With two groups as popular as these, who have fans that are constantly at odds, acknowledging each other would most likely cause backlash anyhow

I completely agree with everything you described. BTS doesn't need these awards. BTS's level is beyond all that. There are still people who ask why they are better? If I were to describe it, I wouldn't have space. Just for starters, BTS are 7 exceptional human beings who write and spread beautiful music with deep meaning. @@yadom_site5706 everyone does(most) I’m their fan, i still support them, some of what the creator was saying was true, but it hurt my ego very much and I automatically started making excuses in my head for them, I still do, they are my ult grp. The group that brought me into K-pop and I respect them and luv them to bits. They were called out so much by toxic armies and other fandoms. Actually, they were being bullied, the way they got nominated was indeed very sketchy, but u can’t justify what the other fandoms did, they teamed up together and tried to get blackpink eliminated first, calling them all sorts of names and shaming them and bringing them down. But they still managed to stay on.

Just like everything you do, this was a great, well-researched video. I find it very distateful how all of this is public domain, yet it has become so normalized that saying the word 'rigged' comes as 'controversial', 'hateful.' A taboo, completely. This also proves that BTS continues to be mistreated, overlooked and used in the music industry, so we as fans, as ARMYs, we must continue supporting them as we've always done. BTS is on the level they are because of ARMYs's efforts and love, no unserious award show should make us feel weak. Finally someone is talking about yg's media games. I noticed a long time ago how dirty they play with "this" group. for the past 5 years, they have been rigging their comebacks to bts comebacks to play out "the ultimate fight between two giants". I often saw articles from yg with the headings ""this" group broke the bts record, "this" group is more popular than bts, the female version of bts" and the like. they even did a stadium tour to make headlines with bts again (and the stadiums not even sold out).
I never hated other groups, I don't care about them. but the way "this" group is always shoved next to bts, and "this" girls say that they suffered so much and achieved everything on their own, I just feel sick of them. when "this" group talks about how hard they worked on their last album, I laugh. they are not artists, they are not on fire with music, putting them on a par with bts, it humiliates the guys as people of art.

i already turn off socials after news outlet states that group won and believe me they are actually my fav girl group of all time- but i know damn well it’s weird that they won a nomination that just announce right after their comeback, but then they change it saying they won metaverse award. which is another weird thing since they got the nominee after two days the performance is release- the criteria to be nominated is just so fucked up. and the fact people praise them to win that metaverse award is so annoying- cause the winner is clearly for the developers. the artists don’t even lift a finger, they just approve rights to give off their voices for the performance, a recorded as well, they don’t need to do anything at alll.. but the praise they got is just so stupid.

I was shocked and when I saw the comment section where their fans were saying it is soooo unique, My blood boiled so much. It annoyed me. Like unique, what the hell are you saying? Then at their PV mv, they had people who wore black hoodies, which again made me remember Bts's Fire, Not today and Mic drop mv. Like I never expected them to follow another grp's theme when they have been always bringing new things with their new mvs from 2016-2020. And blinks are like ' so unique' I felt irritated. If I went to the comment section and told them how their FAV is now following others, they would have cursed me like hell, while they themselves bully rookie girl group members for having their fav's ' hair' and name💀💀💀. Let me explain.
I’m a new army. I only found BTS in May so I have no idea what Twitter was like back when BTS was blowing up but I’ve been noticing something really fishing recently. There’s a tab on my Twitter that says “for you” and I get a lot of different BTS hashtags and key phrases and I can see how many tweets have these phrases. These hashtags and phrases related to BTS consistently have far more tweets than anything on the actual official Twitter trending page.
For example, recently the word “hoseok” was trending on my “for you” page with 250k tweets. There were subjects on the main trending page with only 1k tweets! How does this make sense?
I saw somewhere (and I have no idea whether or not it was true) that Twitter altered their algorithm because BTS was trending constantly and now they rarely trend at all even when different members with have hundreds of thousands of tweets about them tweeted daily.
I don’t know if there’s a video in all this but I’d be interested to know if you know anything more on the subject.

Guys this is not related to this comment, but about something I've been seeing for a long time. I'm sure every ARMY has. The comments under BTS CZcams videos are really weird. This is obviously seen by everyone who goes to read comments under BTS videos. Even if a video is uploaded minutes ago, those nonsense comments and spams are fill like 70%,80% of the comment sections. It's really hard to find a meaningful comment. It wasn't like that before. I love seeing comment sections of old videos because they are clean.
I think it started since butter comeback. That's when i noticed it. I thought whoever that's commenting nonsense will get tired and stop after a while, but no it's been years.
It's really irritating.

Some comments are like praising BTS so much but doesn't even have anything to do with the video. The comments look like they are from ARMY'S but are not definitely.
Those comments are not negatively about BTS but like too dramatically praising.

However im just glad our fandom doesn't sit around and let it happen, but speak up against bullshit. I don't know how many times it's going to take for the world to realize Army's aren't idiots but absolute alphas. I've 100% lost all faith in American award shows, it's slowly decreased overtime but they get played dirty every year and it's truly not going to ever get better, is it? Bts lost because armys underestimated the power of LISA solo fanbases, which have proved many times to be more organized than OT4 BP fanbases. Lisa's fans were VERY invested in this award because we knew it was a once in a lifetime chance for her to win this. We casted millions of votes. So cut the bs and stop disrespecting other artists and fans

OMG!! Thank you so much for this video. I knew that BTS had been cheated out of their awards, I just didn't know all the details. Shame on the other artists who accepted awards they know they didn't earn.

The vmas are trash and armys could immediately sense what they were up to when they ignored the eligibility period just so they could give THAT group noms, but we still wanted to support our guys by voting. Its gross and unfair how the media and music industry treat BTS. They’ll use them for clicks, views and engagement then not give them the flowers they deserve. People are getting tired of these award shows and their fraudulent ways and they’ll just keep losing views and relevancy.

I just want to take a minute to say to you my compliments.
You are really professional: you explain very well and even if it is these arguments, always keep respect for other artists. I have been an army for a year and you are for me an inspiration to continue rooting for BTS, also in the face of these injustices.
I also follow Blackpink and when I discovery they won I was happy, but I don't like these voting methods at all. BTS deserved those awards.

LOUDER for the people in the back!!! Amazing video, spot on, it explains perfectly what is happenning in the music industry and why ARMY should not be sad that BTS "lost" these awards. Actually, we all knew that BTS would lose that day, and personally I thought they wouldnt be given the Best Group either, since they werent there, and i was not surprised by the results. Sad and mad for the unfairness but not surprised. And I was obviously right, since many people agree with you that it was a last minute change, that's why there wasnt even a video, when we know that BTS sends "thank you" videos to every award show, even the "less important" ones. It's really a shame that the music industry works like that, but we know BTS' actual worth and their success can be proven by their sales, streams and tours. I think we have reached a point that the BBMAs and the AMAs are kinda fair to them because they have realized how many viewers they bring. Grammys should not be considered such an important award show since they are racist to the core and they think they can play with us, like they did in 2021 and 2022.
