When billboard eliminated the top social artist category after BTS started winning it for 5 consecutive years, things were already clear that they ain’t gonna let any Asian group win over their artist. No wonder a hit like dynamite didn’t win a Grammy.

I’ve read some of these comments it’s nonsense music used to be about talent you had to have talent to become real successful not it’s not it about popularity that’s what sells and makes huge money in this industry. Yoongi Jimin have no talent solo I’ve seen them live 2 on stage trust me I’ve seen huge stars live and these guys are not talent. They are popular so their audience follow so it sells so awards charts etc look at their popularity in making money they don’t need to be talented you just need to have a huge following in popularity. Only person in BTS who is talented is jungkook he can sing live he is the drive in BTS the product jungkook providing he doesn’t get to big for his boots will be a huge solo star as he has real talent other guys sadly sorry done so they relay on BTS as it’s safer for them as their popularity is massive globally. You hear someone say you want to see Jimin ppl say who then say what to see Jimin from BTS they ah yes I heard of him on stage Jimin is lost he can’t sing sadly but what got him in billboard was his popularity his following this is what K-pop group are mad. Each person will allure a certain type of person to admire and adore them so if they drop solo their fans will support but them bsvk together the audience goes off so the capitalise on this. That’s why Yoongi keeps banging on all 7 of us back together in stage. Jungkook is their ace card jk leaves their done so they will tie jk up in all sorts of deals and contracts so he doesn’t go solo as BTS are a stock market product. Jk knows all of this they all do. So once you see how music works now it’s not about talent it popularity. Jungkook is making waves all members know jk don’t need auto tune or producing behind his voice he can sing so he is the money maker look at his solo following he sings in English perfectly. It’s all clear how it works BTS are actually apart of the ppl who run this world. Same as brand deals you don’t need any talent just popularity then the items sells as they love the artist madness but that how it all works.

It is tiring to defend them to people who are just close-minded about what these boys do to armys especially in the paychological sense.

I don't consider myself an army but I listened to bts' albums and watched their performances. I realized that the perception that I had of bts was very different from what bts actually are. I saw that there's a huge contrast in the way most of the public sees bts and the way armys see bts. But that contrast isn't surprising to me as on the surface, bts seems like they're just a good looking, pop boy group with millions of fangirls. I enjoyed their pop songs like Dynamite and BWL but i do think it gave a very narrow view to bts' music and performances. Bts is an artist that the more you dig deeper, the more you will see how great they are. I thought that it was unfortunate that bts will probably never get the recognition they deserved but i realized that there are so many positives to having a huge and dedicated fandom. Bts songs differ vastly but they always have a certain level of success because their fandom always supports them. Their fandom got them records that public-reliant artists could never get. They always show interest in them whether it's concerts, content or fan interactions.
The goal for most artists is the public so their songs can be hits. Bts achieved that with their pop songs but also gave an alternate path of success with stability and a closer relationship with fans. They're a unique group and they've achieved a new level of success. There will never be another bts but both kpop artists and international artists should take bts as an example because they have a higher standard of success. They achieved both stability (fandom) and popularity (public).

It happens with every fandom that has largely girls. Anything that is liked by largely female fans, is going to be hated. It happened with the beatles too. People instantly assume its just horny teenage girls drooling over pretty men...they totally forget the fact that they make music...There is no boyband or male artist that doesnt gets hate from little to old guys because they get more attention from the ladies. I think this goes hand in hand. BTS will prolly be recognized the moment a man decides BTS are actually pretty cool. Thats how it was with the Beatles. Seen an old asf man jamming to them but bet that when he was younger, he hated them.

Thank you so much!!! I used to think myself that girls just liked BTS because they're hot and not for their music, I wasn't a k-pop fan at that point, but one girl on my soccer team convinced me to listen to one of their songs and oh boy... This was back in 2018 and I listened to DNA, Idol(which had like just released), Spring Day, and Blood Sweat & Tears. It was so different from the typical US pop songs I was used to, but I really loved it, not because I thought they were attractive, but because I had a genuine appreciation for their art. Idol is probably my favorite, I've also come to really love Pied Piper too, and a bunch of other BTS songs. It's just so unique I feel like it almost needs it's own genre, and I love how unique it is but at the same time really good, it just makes me respect them so much. With BTS they've done phenominal stuff in every category, different types of music, dance, lyrics(RM is a blessing on earth), singing, etc. There are a lot of guys that like BTS too, I've even met several male BTS fans. I just hate how I'm automatically labeled as a girl who has a thing for men with makeup when I say I like BTS. I wish people would be more willing to embrace something foreign and not judge a book by its cover, because I think if they gave BTS a chance they would gain a lot more fans. Because of BTS, I even became a k-pop fan. Don't get me wrong, there are many k-pop songs where I wonder, "Why, this is so bad, do people actually think this is good?" But there are also many others that I really like, for example a lot of TXT songs, Eric Nam, Mammamoo is an absolute bop(Hip woot woot), KARA, I'll listen to LADIDA by Everglow until the end of time, FT Island, and more. K-pop is slowly becoming more mainstream, so I'm excited for the day when I'm not scoffed on for liking k-pop anymore

Since then I have followed them, heard all of their songs, what impressed me the MOST was their performance. Why? As a Westerner I have never seen a mixture of Rappers, and key singers perform and dance together. Never! I tried to do my personal review on the group and the video was removed. That's why they are on my radar as THE BEST PERFORMING GROUP EVER! Make it EPIC!

@@namjoonsleftdimple I love how BTS brings together people of different generations! The idea that 'fangirls' are only interested in them for their looks is ridiculous and frankly misogynistic, as if girls/women cannot understand or be moved by deep, complex music. If the fandom was predominantly male I can guarantee BTS would be taken 100% more seriously as artists, and that's precisely the problem.
Honestly they should have more male fans than they do, but prejudice keeps many guys from openly admitting they like them, or from checking them out in the first place. It was the same with the Beatles - for years they were seen as 'teeny boppers' who were only liked by teenage girls. It wasn't until men started to acknowledge their music that they became 'legendary artists'.
Anyway don't listen to people who try to stereotype you, and know that ARMY accepts and understands you. Of course there's nothing wrong with finding the members attractive, I'm sure many people do, but we know that for most fans that's an afterthought, it's their music and personalities that come first.

I agree- I knew about radio and chart 'shenanigans' as far back as the mid 80s, but it was all a vague mess and we just didn't have the info available that we do now. And they were never so blatant about it back then. Now that I'm into BTS, one of the really maddening things as ARMY is seeing exactly how unscrupulous, unethical and manipulative the US music industry (and evidently, the Korean one as well) is. I do think that by being so blatant about it, the charts are sounding their own knell- they're proving to the world that they have no integrity in the numbers and are therefore meaningless even as a roster of local (US) talent, never mind global. And of course radio was already on the way out. Basically, they're following in the Recording Academy's footsteps to irrelevancy. But it's still infuriating to see them moving the goalposts in their desperate attempts to shut out foreign artists. Guess this is what happens when one builds an entire industry on the foundation of, 'We're the best in the world, because of course everything American is always the best. And we'll change the numbers to prove it.'
Well, they've chosen the wrong fandom to mess with. ARMY is going to shake up that erroneous foundation and bring it crashing down.

Because BTS only have armys foe support. The music industry is hell bent on destroying BTS's career. BTS get zero support from industry instead they are sabotaged discriminated and kept aways from the achievements they deserve. Only Armys are their true support and if we don't stream don't but don't vote the music industry will push them down even more. This is why it is so so important to stream.

The thing that gets me the most is the kpop fans who don't even try to understand why we, Army, do what we do. They say that Army is too obsessed with numbers and charts but what they don't understand is that those are the only way we can give BTS the respect they deserve. I've seen plenty of kpopies call us immature and toxic for getting mad at James Cordon about the Blackpink records issue for example, but the thing is, it's not just about pride or childishness, it's about respect. When you do an interview, you do your research and check the information. Before publishing the video, they certainly edited it, right? So they could have checked it, but okay. Not only did he disrespect BTS but he also disrespected Blackpink actually. Also, BTS and Armys worked hard to get those titles and records. It may be nothing for many fans but for us Army even the most insignificant record is important due to the fact that BTS has always done everything without the help of the fu*king music industry.
A lot of nugu groups fans complain that their faves don't get enough recognition, that no one cares about them, well you as fans have to make an effort to get other people's attention too. You don't always have to wait for the companies' actions. BTS were also nugu, minds you, but fortunately Army quickly understood that we can't count on the industry to give them what they deserve. It's up to us fans to do something for them.

lets say they did it with Taylor swift and drake. drake fans would be pissed too. and the industry would never make that mistake in the first place.
their own label would be after james demanding he deleted it. but big hit cant do it, the American media is trying to push BTS out so another who is willing to play by US rules can stay. and i am afraid not all korean labels care about playing fair. so i am guessing groups from a certain label in the future would be more visible in the US. every one who is willing to give the most money to the industry can get more airtime and playlists. we can already see it happen.

The industry casually forgets that ARMY *ARE* the general public. I don't like K-pop, it's just not the type of music I enjoy. I've always been a metalhead, I stream bands like Chelsea Grin/Bad Omens/Motionless in White/Beartooth/etc when I'm not streaming BTS. So what about my streams isn't real or organic? I'm 30 years old, me choosing to listen to BTS and buy their songs/albums/merch is a conscious decision made as an adult and a member of the general public THE SAME WAY I buy albums/merch/concert tickets for these other bands I enjoy.
I have never been dismissed for listening to a band the way I am dismissed for listening to BTS. I don't understand why I have to prove /anything/ about my enjoyment of their music. The fact is: I AM the GP and watching how the industry treats BTS and ARMY has changed my purchasing habits. If they want to pretend like I don't exist, BTS doesn't exist, and we're all just bots and none of this is organic, then I'll keep my money on BTS and BTS only.

It's like if you didn't keep up with the group but they had a hit song that went mainstream or a one hit wonder as a better example. GP refers to non committed listeners of a song. Like take Despacito as an example - most people weren't stanning the artists of the song nor were they listening to other songs outside of this hit. They were exclusively listening to Despacito only. That’s the music industry for you and it sucks. It’s never fair game and it’s never if you deserve it or not. Jimin did an amazing job on Like Crazy so he really deserved to stay in the top 10 for as long as it deserves to be up there. Like I said, the music industry is very shady and you’ll get incidences like this, but BTS will always manage to make it back on top because it’s not just their songs that help them reach great heights, it’s Army and the members of BTS and their techniques around the music industry that helps them achieve their goals.

The amount of sabotages BTS' members have received especially this year that are promoting as soloists is crazy and SO unfair.
Billboard keep changing the rules every time they get a hit and they are the only ones that end up falling from the charts while the others stays the same. BTS barely gets radio points and the other artists under American labels get millions because of payola...
How is that the general public being basically forced to listen to certain songs due to the industry's tactics is more organic than fans listening to their favorite artists whenever they want? How is that the majority of these artists that get #1 all the time can't really do stadium tours like Bangtan or even sold out arenas?
I'm sorry but the fact radio airplay now weight more than real people streaming and buying songs makes no sense to me.
AND we are basically getting robbed because wdym 90% of Jimin's the sales were deleted? This is real people's money, efforts to support.
And the saddest and most frustrating thing is that armys always try to show to the world this issue but we get zero response. The general public ignore us because it's BTS and ignoring because they are of racist and xenophobic too. Why BTS gets all that unprovoked hate? Like bro all the sht the industry is doing is so wrong and that can affects small artists as well.. If things like this would happen to an American artist or a white artist, people would react differently and unite to complain too (it have happened before with 5sos), but because it's about BTS, an Asian group, people chooses to ignore all the corruption. That's disgusting.
No matter how much they change their rules and try to drag them down, we will not allow that and after all, Bangtan doesn't need their help to increase streams. They are the ones that can really sold out stadiums in minutes globally. Like I said, BTS and Army only have each other and we both have gone though so many hardship but always find the way to keep going. We will adapt and find the way to keep BTS at the top and make them succeed as always because they deserve it.
We shouldn't think much about this but it is really frustrating and the best thing we can do is not ignore this issue, that would be like helping them to destroy Bangtan.
I'm not saying that a number or getting certain awards will define how good they are because this is a corrupt industry, but giving them this things are a way of showing our support and reciprocate our love to them because BTS have already gave us so much happiness, strength and comfort with their music, messages, content and more. 💜

The Jimin single dropping fiasco really pissed me off. It was so blatant how the music industry is terrified of BTS. I was telling my friend like what else can BTS do and I’m just tired of the industry’s xenophobia and racism towards them. They are the epitome of how an artist should interact with their fandom and it pays off.
Without fans, musicians won’t have anything. As someone who wants to work in it and focus on fan engagement, it’s upsetting how the music companies pretend to care about fans. But labels really don’t care about fans and only want the credit themselves. Fans are the ones with the power and I hope people start realizing it.

    • @essennagerry
      @essennagerry Před 10 měsíci

@@prajnamendon7708 I mean romantic love in this case and romantic infatuation. Do you want an example of that? I'm not sure how to give an example cause it's kind of a broad thing. As for obsession, when people have pictures of someone on their phone, up in their room, when they spend many hours every day to consume their content or think about them - that's an obsession. If you just experience that for a few days or a week or two that's different, that could possibly be just a hyperfixation on someone as an artist or a person and that's ok. But if it goes on for a long time that's an obsession and it's not mentally healthy. When it comes to kpop artist many fans have both an obsession and a romantic infatuation toward them. Not all, but many fans. And my critique toward the entertainment companies and the artists too is that they knowingly feed into those two things. Because well it makes money. People will not only buy the music and attend a concert, they'll also buy all the merch that ever comes out, they'll buy multiole of the same album just for themsleves, they'll buy every type of membership and service available, they'll stream music videos and sings they maybe don't like all that much or don't have the time to stream so they put it on and go to another room to do their work.
Companies and artists feed into this unhealthy mentality and behavior through three hings: one is the constant pumping out of content and making it all feel very important and exclusive. The other is they purposely put out ontent where the artists are dressed in alluring clothing, making attractive poses and facial expressions. It's all to elicit lust. "Sex sells" as they say. With kpop it's more about a general physical attractiveness and a romantically attractive personality. Which brigs me ti the third thing: emphasizing their personalities but in a carefully crafted way. I'm not saying any of the kpop artists portray a fake version of themselves, no, but I am saying that there is a lot of deliberation in what companies choose to showcase.
I hope my comment is helpful.

This is such a good video. It's honestly so much worse than is even shown here, the years I've spent as an ARMY and the things I've witnessed first-hand have made me completely lose any faith I had in the entertainment industry or media. The corruption is out of this world. The fact that Miley Cyrus got 100 MILLION radio spins in the same period that Jimin got 0.1 Million, whereas his sales were bigger than hers by a factor of 10... it's just the tip of the iceberg. This is the same pattern we've seen over and over and over.
The boys themselves are obviously careful in how they word things, but even they have made numerous comments about corruption, and about their own frustration with the industry. I'm sure they know even more than we do about how bad it is, but they're obviously going to take the high road and just keep pushing with their organic success. I'm thinking of a time when Taehyung said in an interview "of course we've been offered opportunities where we could have gone a lot higher a lot faster, but we wanted to do things the right way. So if that means going a bit slower and taking our time then so be it." And the time when Jin mentioned in an award speech about "in this industry, let's make sure we play fair and do things the right way."
I'm sure behind the scenes they are just as disgusted with the industry as we all are. But in the end we don't need the industry. We got Bangtan here DESPITE the industry, and we will keep going just the same way we always have. Spread the message of BTS organically, introduce people to their amazing music, and create new fans who will stick with them for life. In the end, slow and steady wins the race. Music, message, performance and personality are why we're here, and why we're going to keep being here for decades to come.

While the other artists get insane playlisting , radio , autoplay , no freezing and views deletion , no shadowbanning on multiple platforms even instagram (freezing follower count cuz some ppl had reporting parties on BTS member's profiles esp TAE'S 💀) twitter ( hide # like JIMIN and TAEHYUNG and more cuz they kept trending almost every 2 business days💀) tiktok ( allegedly using bts #s gets less views compared to when you don't use them for the same videos 💀) youtube freezing and deleting 1M+ views almost every hour or 2 especially since solo releases ( remember when yt deleted 45M+ views from ON mv right in front of our eyes making it go from 80M+ to some 40M 💀💀) spotify with massive filtering rate ( remember BUTTER ist week streams were 99.37M and got filtered to 58.12M 💀💀💀) billboard changing rules every time BTS topped charts and this time with JIMIN they didn't even change rules cuz it didn't affect anyone else but JIMIN making sales go from 112k (?) to 14k thus deleting 90% of them without any explanation 💀💀 and removing their top social artist category since BTS started winning it every year 💀💀hanteo deleting 700k+ sales from JIMIN and hiding their real time charts for the first time ever since formation 💀💀 radio not playing the actual most requested songs ( like crazy being #1 most requested song with over 95% requests compared to others but got removed from top 10 most requested songs💀) and much more let's not even talk about award shows 💀💀. Mind you all this in broad day light and openly right in front of our eyes imagine what they be doing behind curtains??💀💀💀 Crazy how BTS survives all this and still manages to stay on top TRUST ME NO OTHER ARTIST COULD SURVIVE THIS SHIT AND THAT'S WHY BTS ARE THE REAL AND MOST ORGANIC ARTISTS EVER WITHOUT ANY INDUSTRY SUPPORT AND CONSTANT MASSIVE SABOTAGE BELIEVE IT OR NOT 🤷‍♀️
AND THIS MAKES ARMY SUPPORT BTS EVEN MORE AND MORE AND MAKES US STRONGER TOGETHER AND WE'LL CONTINUE TO DO SO ... APOBANGPO 💜

I remember when CZcams started changing their streaming rules short after BTS started breaking the records for amount of views in the first 24 hours with every comeback they made. It got me really mad because when that happened... Blinks started celebrating that they suddenly got those records, because yeah... they didn't have their streams deleted like us. That was one of the reasons that made me stop staning BlackPink... It was to obvious to me how de industry was benefiting them over BTS, talking about them as the "KPop Queens" when, at the time, BlackPink had debuted a short time ago, and BTS always had a longer and bigger career with bigger and more important achivements. I don't hate BlackPink, but at the time it felt really unfair and made me feel a little bit resentful.
Nowadays I don't really care about award ceremonys or charts. It is pretty obvious how Europe and the USA just care about their own production and doesen't really care about what other parts of the world have to offer unless they can do a profit about it. And I don't think that charts and awards are a real reflection about what the world is actually consuming... Like how kdramas and anime series are massive consumed all around the globe but they are rarely awarded on the western media (And dont forget how the media often talk about this things as some weird "phenomenon").

If you have money, buy their music, albums, DVDs and merch. Nowadays you can find a lot of their products on local music stores, even on Amazon. That money goes directly to them. Streaming with premium accounts sends a signal to the industry that there are fans paying to stream their music. You're still successful irregardless the involvement of a third party. @@LovelyLittleLillies Whoa, there! My goodness, it's not that at all.
Viewing, streaming and sales are one of the few relatively direct ways we fans have of showing BTS our love and support. The fandom is simply too big for us to connect with them on a personal or even professional level. 70m+ fans; what's 100k concert seats to that? What's 50k arena seats or 10k lining the sidewalks to cheer? Not even a fraction of a percent. Most of us will have to live vicariously through the lucky ones that get to be there; it's why fancam videos are so popular- and it's why the company livestreams whenever possible. (Did you know that Suga specifically told his staff not to shut down anyone they saw livestreaming his D-Day concerts?) We'd all like to be there, but there ain't that much room!
So, yes, we get decidedly peevish when media platforms delete our only real *visible* shows of mass support. When YT deletes views and Spot filters streams and radios ignore our requests and BB subtracts 100k sales... yeah, that'd piss anyone off. That's our love and support being thrown out like garbage.
And yeah, we do get quite angry when rules are broken or rewritten to specifically exclude BTS. (Just as The Weeknd's fans were *quite* livid when he had the song of the year and didn't even get a grammy nomination.) We don't like discrimination. We don't like the insults. So what do we do?
Well, it turns out that getting mad doesn't accomplish much. So we get even, instead. We stream some more, we buy some more, we view some more...and we spread the word. We hop onto channels and encourage new reactors. We bring more people into our ARMY. It's great music, after all.
We aren't at all concerned that the industry is going to somehow stuff BTS off into a corner and make the world forget about them. It's not about that. It's about passing the word through the fandom and about letting the rotten-to-the-core industry know that we're aware of their ugly little tricks- and we don't approve. And that no matter how they try to squash us, how they ignore us, how they delete and filter and rewrite rules to stifle us, we won't be stifled. That's all. The best revenge for ARMY is getting BTS the awards and records *in spite of* the industry.
      We good?

BTS started from zero. they develop by times with hard hard work and the creativity to enhance their capability. They tried all genres in their learning process. Each member has shown their growth too. Specially, their emotional intelligent experience in relationship with ARMY also started from nothing to something valuable, they influence each other. This rarely happened with others. BTS as group or as personal respect and love their fans who supported them from the very beginning. It shows from their talking about each other, from their live streaming's topics of conversations. Especially during live streaming, they have shown their truth about themselves, their feelings, normal feelings. Therefore the ARMY can sense the authenticity of their Idols. ARMY can relate to them naturally too. This is what happened between BTS and its ARMY. If I listen to a western pop song once, it will automatically go into my personal mixes, but for BTS and other kpop songs I have to listen to them multiple times before they are put there (if they are added at all), and sometimes the western songs that I listened to once would actually replace kpop songs that I listen to everyday...

I’m not a k-pop fan. I’m a BTS fan. I became ARMY during their hiatus. Somehow we are beating the odds 💜🫶🏼💜

This video encapsulates the whole situation so perfectly. All the unfairness that occurs on the daily needs to be addressed and we need an outlet where we can express how absolutely angry we are with the way things have been playing out. Im really happy you decided to make this video and im impressed with how you were able to touch on all the points so well.

BTS are too powerful, they rule the industry, Billboard still discriminate against them, they just dont want to see Asian artists at the top of their charts, but BTS as a group and in their solo careers always dominate and will continue to succeed regardless

I think the problem is that they don't want to see an Asia group with organic success being on top, but they don't have a problem to do a mediaplaying with others...

Open your eyes. What I see is billboard - an American entity being so powerful it has influence on some foreign non English speaking country on the other side of the world. Instead of using your own tool to calculate success you're chasing billboard alongs with BTS and rest of army. Despite BTS worldwide success billboard still got you in a chokehold. Did you realize this? so who's powerful here? American pop culture influence is still supreme - you can't deny this. No matter what awards are won in Asia y'all still want American awards...

I can't fu*kin wait for them to come back as OT7 again in 2025, and when that happen, ARMYs will show the world who's "actually" running the music industry! 💜💥 for now stay pressed and good luck. Our time will come.

The first time I heard them I knew they would be great. They were great from day one. Thats why the music industries did everything they could to curtail their success.

I said it a thousand times and I am saying this again today that "no one can surpass BTS no matter what as long as army is with them"---
