- Don't Move To New Jersey - 10 Facts You Must know Before Moving Here
With great healthcare, impeccable schooling, and a quiet lifestyle - it makes sense as to why so many people are now making the move to New Jersey. But there are a few things that you should know about if you’re thinking of finding a home for yourself here.
1. High taxes
One of the very first things that you might want to consider before you even start thinking of moving to New Jersey is how much you will be spending on taxes.
People living here will pay an average amount of over $931,968 dollars in taxes in a lifetime, which is more than you would pay in any other state in the whole country.
Nationwide the average tax amount over lifetime is $525,037 which means NJ state taxes amount are almost 80% higher than the national average!
This is mainly because property taxes in this state are extremely high.
And if you plan on owning a home here, you’re probably going to be paying higher taxes here than you would anywhere else.
2. Traffic
With almost 9 million residents in New Jersey, regardless of how you commute the roads are always packed and busy.
Although the state has a pretty effective mass transit system, certain highways and roads such as route 3, route 4 , the Garden State Parkway, and the New Jersey Turnpike are always choked with cars.
So you either learn to live with it or you don’t. So, if you can’t manage planning ahead and leaving a little earlier to try and beat the traffic, moving here probably isn’t going to be all that fun for you.
3. Cost of Living
NJ is one of the top 10 states to have the highest cost of living .
One the main defining factor in the formula is the cost of housing which ends up being 50% then the natural average.
Daily cost of living such has groceries and food shopping also comes pricy in NJ.
4. North and South Jersey
Speaking of North and South Jersey, there’s a debate over property ownership between both sides.
The reason behind this debate is the fact that there is no definitive line separating the North from the South, leading to a lot of arguments over ownership.
If you want to be entertained- go on Facebook and search for what geographical feather separate south Jersey from north jersey.
5. Retirement
According to the wallethub study
NJ was ranked #1 as the worst state to retire !!!!
The reason is mainly because of the very high cost of living and its among the least tax-friendly states for retirees.
NJ sever winter weather can make it extremely difficult for the seniors.
6. Pollution
The air report study done by The American lung association indicates that
NJ continues to have some of the most polluted air in the nation.
The pollution levels here are 45% worse than the national average, along with the air quality being 6% worse than the national average.
New Jersey has no pollution management which might be a deal-breaker for many.
4. Public Transit
when it comes to NJ transit, trains are ranked the worst in the nation 2 years in a row!!!!
The transit buses are ranked the 8th worst in the nation.
The reason is that the trains and buses were facing lots of mechanical problems as a result of that many lines were delayed or canceled, got overcrowded which prevented many residents of getting to their destination on time.
3. The Residents
Sure, New Jersey is a tight-knit community and while that comes with its own advantages, it also means that you will sometimes feel like you have no sense of privacy.
Small arguments can turn into fights when everyone is always all up in each other’s business.
2. Blue Laws
The only places that are open, are restaurants, parks, and other public spaces. But just about anything else is closed .
1.Toxic
We’ve already talked about pollution before.
But let me just tell you that the problem goes way beyond just that.
The simple truth is that New Jersey is an industrial state with tons of superfund sites contaminated by hazardous waste that’s toxic for human health.
NJ has the most superfund sites then any other state !
So, living here can literally damage your quality of life.

The tax thing is so overblown. What people dont tell you is that yes property taxes are higher here and that's local. That's not the state itself. As far as state taxes, There are no city taxes, sales tax is middling as compared to the rest of the country and in all honesty there are just more opportunities here than in other places. Sales tax in Alabama is 10%!!!!!! with less job opportunities. So in the end it balances itself out. You're pretty much paying the same no matter where you go now. Youll just make it up in some other way
Jersey City bus is good. Ty for the video on Nj

Yes and living in tri-state area is expensive as well. I rather live better with less headaches and weather that suits me.
@@iNDOmOTO1 it also have too much law enforcement cost to live there , nj police are waiting at every corner to catch up people to derive too much economic benefit to local cities, towns and state even for non allegedly minor traffic mistakes including in miserable no parking zones plus very high auto insurance cost statewide
Loved the video. Great delivery. Your diction is improving greatly. One small factor. Try using less hand motions with both hand. Hard for all of us. We all speak with out hands. But a great video in all
