      @@ko9446 yeah but lets be honest here.... I wonder how many in the health and safety brigade have ever done any actual work other than their studies in uni and a classroom. You see it all the time all these so called experts who have never done an ounce of work in the job they supposedly are the expert in other than then reading lots of books, which I guess is how one now gets to become an expert.... So all you out there who want to be an expert in everything, just become a librarian..... Forget actual physical work in the real world.... just read a book everything will be fine the real actual world does not exist... As to common sense not being so common, that went out as soon as we started pampering the kids and not allowing them to be kids... if do not have to think and problem solve as kids... how they ever going to get the experience for when adults... not going to happen

Academic students training for H/S telling professional how to do their work is laugh. I do agree there are idoits out there who do take short cuts that need to be stopped. I live in a contry in europe. Our health and saftey can com up with som idiotic ideas.(for example saftey harness if you climb higer than 2 meters on a ladder) But in general they have made most workplaces safer and look after saftey equipment and guards is used. An accident can happen even if you have 30 years experience. So for the most part they do a good job.
      Especaliy small companies ingore health and saftey rules we had a company that didnot fix a broken seat switch on a riding mover they got a fine of 50.000$ and even if it is a big company the vd can get jail if they find many big things.(even if hes not located in the same area and nothing to do with the problem) so most companies have rutine to tell if something is wrong.

    Very little power and poorly balanced but very cool.
    I owned an IH ( very poor design to long) gehl , and bobcat) my current is Kubota with tracks. Once you go tracks you can’t go back to tires.

    Check the oil in the fan drive also the seals on the end are known for going out/ seeping and no one ever checks them. It's 80/90 gear oil in the drive. I see it has the better pump assembly in it and not the cables. Check the neutral and if their is any creep it's easy to adjust out. Also check for loose pintle arms on the pump if you can move the lever a bit before the machine moves and then it takes more movement to get it back the other way in neutral the arms are worn out. It sounds dumb explainging it but if you have ever been around one with bad ones you know what I'm talking about. Also you can check them by with the machine off go to the front of the machine with the cab back follow the black flat bars to the pump and move the controls look at the aluminum pintle arms and the pump shaft and see if the arm is giggly on the rod. You can catch them at the early stages of going bad and just replace the arm, bushing, and bolt if you wait it turns into the pintle shaft/swash plate and gets expensive quick. You have to pull the pump and disassemble it to replace that. Also the pump mounting bolts just like the rear motor mounts are know for coming loose and dropping the bolts out of them check the front of the pump both side for that also. Look at the control valve and see if it's wet could need seals in that also easier to get to now with the motor out. 3/16 Allen to pull the bolts their usually locktighted in and like to strip out clean them out good and make sure your Allen is seated in it good. Axle seals chain case level chain tension if you can pull the drive chains up and touch the case their stretched and due for replacement seen them go a long time before breaking but they are a bitch when they ball up behind the axle sprocket in the chain case. Had a wheel with a flat tab welded to it to beet on while someone held up on the chains to get them out. Alternator wires I think it was more on the f series square head lights were known for the wires breaking at the studs and causing all sorts of weird issues. G series are triangle head lights. Case drain filters they are a stone filter suppose to be done every 1000 hrs should have 2 one by the left side rear wheel in the mainframe by the pump will be a aluminum housing about 2" in diameter and have 3 1/4" lines going to it and one center of the machine on the chain case in front of the pump. Will be held with a p clamp (Adele clamp) to the top of the case. Take them out of the machine and put in a vice 1 1/2" wrench pull the end off clean out and replace with a kit from bobcat. Probably find a little bit of metal debri and o ring debri is normal a bunch is signs of drive motor failure or a pump failure. Either current or in the past. Oil cooler lines usually start flaking on those machines with age. Fuel return lines from the injectors go bad with age on them also the good ones had a metal rail some just had plastic t's between each injector.

    • @brandonvanmeter4888
      @brandonvanmeter4888 Před 4 lety +3

      Their shit machines I gave him a list of all the stuff to check it's all either wear items or known issues. can a lot of it be left alone yes will it run yes. Is their preventive stuff to be done that's not gonna A break the bank, B keep the machine running threw the snow storm and not loose on money and time. Yes. Would you rather spend 250$ now or 2500$ in a month when your machine is down for a week or more either waiting on a dealer or parts or weather to break to fix it. The dealers are going to break it off in you every chance they get I told everyone if you get out of bobcat for under $500 your doing good. Most bills start their and go up. From what Warren was saying the guy does service his own equipment and takes good care of it. If nothing else if he tells them hey so and so said look at this this and this and the owner says I don't want to fix it now and says but if we get slow I'll look into it. Or the guy may want it fixed back top condition best he can get for what he has. Personally I tell whoever's machine it is what is wrong and let them decide it doesn't benefit me in any way either way. Your either going to fix it or call me later to fix it when it breaks. Or take it to someone else and their going to. My position it doesn't benefit me to take you for $2000 now and never again I'll take $300 now and $300 at the end of the month and the 5 guys you refer to me for their $300 and at the end of the month have a nice month and steady work coming in for the equipment trucks and personal rides plus the 5 people that those 5 each refer. so dealer talk anymore they have a 18 year old kid fresh out of school no experience a computer and a company truck. No one is staying in the trades field their all being u tube stars athletes or trying to do something on the computer. I'm against dealers as much as possible would rather have the software and books to do it my self. Just like Warren is doing lap top data interface check clear and diagnose not guess and parts change. He said himself he has no experience with these other than a 743 which is 6 wires and 4 bolts 2 coolant hoses 2 fuel lines and the motors out. It's to help him out because in reality with the older machines theirs small medium and large frame machines a 863 and a 864 are the same machine other than the 864 is a track machine a 873 is a verticle lift machine where a 863 is a radius lift machine still the same pump motor and Hyd system fuel system and chain case. A 763 and a 773 are the same machine again with 2 different lift designs still the same guts. If he can take what he learns from this one and apply to the next which I know he can just from watching videos and listen to him talk about prior experience with other machines with similar components it's going to help him. Being torn into one this deep you can see the workings of them and understand more on how they work and are assembled.

    Belt tensioner is a 3/4 socket it's the part with the spring wrapped around it just loosen the bolt up and it will take the tension off it. Putting it back on slip the belt on and tighten till it stops moving ( you know what I mean) then just above where the flywheel housing is theirs 2 3/8" bolts and a charcoal colored bracket it needs taken off before you loosen the tensioner. When going back together after tightening the tensioner bolt just bump the bracket against it till it touches and run the two 3/8" bolts back in. It's just a stop for when it's under a load that the belt can't push the tensioner back and let the belt slip.
    Make sure you get the key way back in the pump shaft and it's in their when you slide the pulley back on. It pushes out pretty easy if you are not paying attention. It will run and work fine at first but then it will spin on the shaft and destroy the shaft. Know from past experiences

    That is a hydraulic oil cooled deutz engine. I worked on a mini German articulated tractor. It was called a holder. It was used primarily to snow blow sidewalks and sweep in the summer. It too was cooled by hydraulic oil and even had a radiator style oil cooler that cooled the engine and also heated the cab. The only way we had to warm the engine in the winter was to keep it in a heated garage when not in use. When it was started up to be moved it was the smelly Diesel engine that I had ever been ne’er when it was started up. I guess you could say I was never fond of that machine at. All. The first machine like that one caught fire in the garage when no one was around. I could not understand why anyone would buy another one just like it.

    Seen that before with dirt and crap rubbing a hole under the pan. This engine can be a bear to remove. Usually pulled this with the hydrostat and housing connected out of the machine. Their timing belts can also cause issues from age. Tightening the belt can be a pain and should be done with deutz timing tools. At least you were able to remove that dreaded exhaust.

    I worked on those bleep things you pull the complete unit when they went to the cross mount with belt what a joke they made gauge to set the belt if you use it the belt will slip so set it tite with a bar we got away from bobcat for that reason can't get to anything to repair the book show a engine and pump puller but at that time they did not sell it you cut it out and weld it up have a great Holiday

    Check the pulley on the fan drive and the tensioner usually they wear down over time and need replaced. The fuel pickup tube is like 25 dollars in parts for a screen tube and 2 clamps it's cheap and easy insurance to do it now if it hasn't been done recently. Your right their I would suggest it also look at the back side of the motor if it's wet in oil by the head the head gasket is bad. Their torque to yield bolts need replaced if you pull the head. Timing belt needs done probably. 3 years or 3,000 hrs needs a new tensioner also. has a 5 point tamper proof torx in the cover that you have to take out to get to the timing belt. Takes 2 special dowel pins for the crank and cam to hold them against. and a belt tensioner checker for checking after it's tightened.

    • @brandonvanmeter4888
      @brandonvanmeter4888 Před 4 lety +1

      Get a new gromet for the pickup side they swell and are next to impossible to get back in. Use vasoline and lube everything and insert the hose through the gromet and then install the gromet in the tank with the hose through it then push the 90 down through the center and it's done.

      Placing the crank timing pin is a little tricky at first. Usually I was replacing the timing belt + tensioner after a 1000 hrs . The job is not too difficult with the proper deutz tools. .

    It’s a shame Bobcat has not resolved this problem ! I have seen it several times in my day. I was told it was caused by oil saturation and the heat breaking down the rubber mounts. You would think they would change over to neoprene by now. 😕 Warren it’s been odd hearing someone else in the shop with you . Did you hire your son full time or just catching up ?

    I had to pull the engine out of my Daewoo 601 skidsteer with a yanmar 4 cylinder for the same reason motor supports was wore out and debris had built up and rubbed a hole in the pan but my ole man had borrowed it and never said anything about it leaking and forgot to tell me he ran it dry of oil 2 times.

      When they break usually bend all the push rods for the rocker arms if your lucky is doesn't bend a valve. Their a verticle valve assembly so usually just bends the pushrods

    You're wise to change all that stuff now...! It's preventing all the butt ache you and your customer will have if you don't! 40yrs in the business and too many cheap customers will teach you that crap. I have found that if you can get the equipment to a hot water pressure washer it helps spot alot of future problems as well...I know you know all this but a bad wreck a year ago put me out of the game forever..You sir , Are a awesome get it done the right way mechanic, not just a parts changer..keep doing your way!
