Tampa going from Stammer to Guentzel actually shows they arent following in Pittsburgh or Washingtons skates, condemning themselves until their star burns out.
Sad but true, as a penguins fan. BriseBois is a genuis. It makes me wonder about Kyle Dubas, maybe that’s the wrong type of genius…
You're correct, it's just brutal for stammer.
@@TopNic21 I mean he'll be alright, how much money does a human really need to be comfortable, Stammer has already made 100M+ in his career.
Doesn't matter, Tampa's window has been slammed shut . Vasilevsky is no longer an elite goalie since the surgery.
It's not Dubas's fault that the Pens window closed in 2018 with that Ryan Reaves trade, and all the subsequent stupid decisions by JR and Hextall.
It's wild that Campbell's contract was terrible from the day it was signed and never got better.
Trouble sometimes with signing a heavier contract with just a small sample of really good play
Losing your goalie tandem in one stroke makes you do some...regrettable things
As a Leafs fan, I was actually upset at first that the Leafs let him walk, he did put up some amazing stretches and good numbers but he always seemed a bit fragile mentally. I guess Leafs management knew something I didn't.
@@user-dl3uo3we2zI don’t know if it was small but it was sometimes situational, looked great in LA for a couple seasons with a great D core and three with the Leafs who do not so it was as good a guess as any. Edmonton has been murder for even the best goalies, even this year
Jack is Leafs' revenge for Zach 😂😂😂
Man, really hoped we coulda kept Guentzel around. Really worried the Canes have missed their window.
They can use that money to sign or keep younger players
It's not over. TB might not get the deal done. Especially if his camp knows that the canucks will give him more.
This past year was the best the Canes have been constructed and will likely be the best for many years to come.
Tripp put it well on the closing broadcast after Game 6 vs Rangers - all the work to build an excellent team has been wasted. A terrible goaltending performance flushed everything down the toilet.
They go all in, FINALLY, in getting Guentzel, then pass on signing him. Big mistake, HUGGE! Seeing as they didn't move Necas, and the Pesce rumors swirling to the Devils. This team did need a bit of a tweek, in goal, but this signals, that the Cup window may be over.
They need a veteran sniper and a # 1 goaltender. Andersin is ALWAYS hurt. He's a liability. Young players signal a rebuild. Waddell left town, a coward, as he didn't want to take the heat for this debacle.
Tampa knows what to do to stay competetive. Many team just keeps the players until they're 40 and wonder why they can't win...
Domi resigns with Leafs for 4 years 3.75 million. Leafs finally get a player take a hometown discount
Campbell is a good soul. Hopefully he lands somewhere and gets an opportunity to make a comeback.
@@SavedByZero if he wants to rebuild could see him resigning in toronto were he looked best ( as a 3rd goalie)
Now he can latch on as a cheap backup possibly.....easier to work back into starting goalie or highly dependable backup
He'd be a deal at league minimum on a 2 way contract as a 3rd stringer.
He could retire and live off his soup business.
@@bradsomers8816 If the Leafs sign Brossoit they definitely need a #3. Campbell is great mojo and would likely transition into a solid front office presence. However, Talbot would be a better choice if he's willing to take a big haircut. The challenge is the options are pretty slim.
The Caps drafted Miroslav Satan Jr. That little Devil is not so little. 6'7".
Satan Jr. on the back of a jersey, especially if he ever plays for the Devils or the Flames, would be too much fun
and Petr Sikora (no relation to Petr Sykora) lol and the brother of current a cap Protas. Brian MacLellan going full meme
Should've been drafted by New Jersey...that would've been a match made in heaven. Just imagine the local media getting a hold of that. And play by play..... "Satan with a helluva goal!"😂
@@pwc1021 The reason I always wanted his dad to play for the Devils.
@@jakeaaron exactly!
Wish i could get paid 2.75m to be terrible at my job.
An overpay but Sharks can afford it, they need players like him and Goodrow even if they're not big point producers.
You could realistically if you were any good at anything. Or a complete freak of nature like these guys are. If you had any talent whatsoever, you might get paid nearly 3 mil per year
@@jmunoz618 Eh, i would rather be terrible at what i do and get paid for the "Locker Room Vibes" i bring. That's worth a few million.
In the grand scheme of things he’s one of the best hockey players in the world
Have you seen their GM? So it shouldn't really be a surprise when the Sharks make dumb moves.
DING! 322k subs! Congrats THG!
Woo! Hoo!
Wish Soup all the best, he's maybe one of the easiest people in pro sports to root for. Really hope he gets it back together.
Tampa understands hockey business.
I'm sad but excited. I feel correct lol
Teams understand it's a business. Players understand it's a business. The only ones who don't understand the NHL is a business are the fans.
If they were smart they would have traded Stamkos for a couple 1sts at the deadline. You don't let hall of Famers walk for nothing and think it's "big brain energy"
@@michaelkeller5927 He had a NMC, big brain. Why do fans constantly think they're smarter than Stanley Cup winning GMs?
Just noticed you hit 322k subscribers. Congratulations on growth of the channel!
Guentzel turns 30 in October
Guenztel will be 30 in October. Doesn’t feel like enough of a youth movement to move on from Stamkos. I’d be pissed if I was a Tampa fan
I don't disagree but as a pens fan I'm even more pissed because we lost him and ended up with Kevin Hayes
4 years is a long time. There’s a big difference between someone who’s going to be 30 next season versus Stamkos who will be 35 in February. That’s almost half a decade.
Guentzel is in his prime and has the potential of 100 points if he gets put with Kucherov and Point. Lightning aren’t a young team either, they’re just trying for one more cup with these guys
Potential is the word. Stamkos has been there, done that many times already.
I’m sure Guentzel will want more than the lousy 3 mil a year Stammer was offered.
@@stevef4010 that was just a trade to eat some cap and get a free pick out of it, that is in no way a bad thing bruh
Tampa needed to do something to ensure that they stay in competition. Going out in round one two years, then you can't do more of tge same. Do you hear that, Toronto?
Given that Toronto has run the same team back for a half decade now, I don’t think they hear you. lol.
I have to laugh when listening to SN650 Radio where hosts claim "Guentzel loves Vancouver"! I am sure he loves every city that is willing to offer a big contract. I am a Canucks fan, but taxes are high, travel is difficult and press scrutiny is intense. I also laugh when fans say Zadorov is "greedy" for not offering a discount. C'mon, it's all about how much money a player can earn before they reach 38 years old!
Russians never give discounts
Dude, people need to stop suggesting taxes are a consideration for NHL players. They have accountants and money managers who find every loop hole, and every deduction they can to minimize how much players pay in taxes. If you think they are paying the going tax rate on the money they are making, you and most other people don't understand how rich people's taxes work.
That guy needs to move to the States; still be paying a bunch in tax AND on health insurance, etc.
This contract will be the biggest of Zadorov's career. He's 29 years old. I'm disappointed that he couldn't be re-signed but don't blame him a bit. On the other hand, I'm glad that Allvin stuck to his guns and didn't overpay
Thanks for your great content!
Ahhhhh, the best time of the year. Randomness.
Love that jersey, Tampa needs to bring that back
Interesting to see what this does to bolts room.
I wondered when the Bolts traded Sergachev yesterday...
Great video as always!
Very frustrating CAR couldn’t close with guentzel. Now to see with necas
Canucks needs to get Toffoli and Dillon
Toffoli was invisible after the trade to the jets
I like the trail that Olaf 'Olie The Goalie' Kolzig took in his career path.
I'm thinking it's more about having 3 goalies needed whether spread between your team and farm team, to whether the storm
The Leafs re-signed Domi at 3.75 (hometown discount) x 4 years. Which is a great cap hit for a guy who plays on the top line with Auston Mathews.
That's great news. Domi worked hard and adjusted to the Toronto fan base.
Stammer can still be signed, possibly waiting till he’s offered a contract and then match it. They’re playing hard ball with him. They know he wants to stay a bolt.
I hope this is the case
Happy Canada 🇨🇦 Day (July 1st), THG & Family!
Crazy times
We’re just getting started
Oh brother, you said it.
❤ this show!!!
Well, the Canucks have dodged a bullet on Jake Guentzel lol.
I am thinking that we are seeing more buyouts than normal because of the rising cap teams are wanting out of these "unfavorable " contracts could be an interesting free agency tomorrow
Feeling the cap will start to grow and grow
Make it easier to make mistakes and then clean them up🤔
It's also a pretty strong free agency class
I said from the start the Canucks should get a back up put silovs in the minors but if an injury happens bring silovs up as the starter. He could still use full time games
Congrats on 322k!
LOL as I clicked the No Thanks to becoming a Member of the channel that popped up, he gave me a side eye @ 0:05
Saw Boqvist in the title and was relieved to see it wasn't Jesper, I like his speed and hope the B's keep him around
Shannon im curious, you have seen a fair bit of Abbotsford
Beyond Juulsen and Friedman who has a chance at staying up with big team this year and/or capaable to play a stretch with the big team on defence
Justin Bailey's name always brings me back to Metroid.
Truthfully I would not mind 1 bit if any of the guys being bought out ended up in LA, LA fixed Campbell once not too out of line to think it could happen again and with LA not re-signing Roy (massive mistake) either or both of Shimdt or Boquist would fit nicely on LA's blueline
I'll never forget Cole's amazing tip into our own net
He is what he is.... a semi reliable #6 dmen, who was okay but made too many clutch mistakes( age/skill level is showing)
Absolutely the right move to buyout Campbell
I thought DeSmith was good, except when as an older goalie unused to playing a lot of games he played way too many games and started to fall apart when Demko went down. There was an opportunity to put Silovs in for more games and earlier that was squandered. That might have been fine if the Canucks weren't getting ready for the playoffs. It's a great time to do buyouts for GMs, with so many fans/media transitioning from CapFriendly.
Would a reunion between shmidt and the Canucks make sense at the right cap hit to fill out the 3rd pair? I know last time was horrible, but this is now a proper d core with a better coach and system. That being said there are lots of options Vancouver can look at for 3rd pairing, and what they really need is a top 4 rhd so Myers can move down
I'd say no....ie size, overall defensive play, there are better options out there imo
Maybe from within the organization?!?
Ya I was thinking the same thing lol. And Schmidt shouldn’t break the bank unlike Tanev. Boquist might be intresting too. He could split games with Juulsen as a #6.
@@user-dl3uo3we2z no one in the organization rn is better than Schmidt, but yeah there’s still lots of options, he’d be a good third pairing though I think, would be nice to pair him with someone physical on the third pairing
Yeah, at the end of a canadian winter, we're all anticipating the coming of summer with its warm sunny days and powerful thunderstorms, but then the ALLERGENS are like wait a minute human you need to pay the price before enjoying summertime...
Wow, a 3rd? Jake really didn’t want to stay in Carolina.
More just Tampa GM being super hungry to replace stamkos and remain a contender.
From what Elliot Friedman said, they had already agreed on 8 million a year for 8 years, then Guentzel changed his mind.
Happy HC 2018 Purge Day, y'all
The Edmonton Oilers put out a press release saying how disappointed they are that the Canucks couldn't re-sign Cole. Apparently they are currently looking for a way to sign Cole themselves and reassign him to the Canucks.
Feels unreal that Stamkos could be wearing a non-lightning jersey this season
Man, Yzerman was ahead of the curve with the 3 goalie thing.
Not if you have 3 mediocre ones
I'm sorry, they now have 4 mediocre goalies
Chicago could’ve taken Bouchard. As a Blackhawks fan at the time, I was really hoping they’d take Bouchard. He had everything they needed; size and a RH shot.
They took Boqvist, instead. Soured on him for some reason, used him to land Jones, sign him to an outrageous deal.
Worked out for Bouchard. Boqvist will be 24 soon, can’t stay healthy, and if a flop like Columbus doesn’t want him…
Bowman wrecked chicago with his trades, drafts, and contracts
I really don’t understand Boqvist being bought out, seems like a negligible difference unless he was like a locker room cancer
Schmidt and Schmid on the VGK?!
I love how the cap goes up 2m and that excuses 10m worth if spending...
Hoping Tanev and Guentzal both say "sorry sights set on Vancouver"
The buyout penalty on Campbell ain’t to bad I thought it be worse.
So how big a Thank You do the Sharks owe Yazerman. Guentzel is negotiating with the Bolts and not Wings which is everyone thought he was clearing cap space for when he traded Wahlman and all we owe is future considerations?
As of 1:19 pm central, Puckpedia has Max Domi signing with the Leafs 4 years/15 million. Capfriendly has yet to announce. Maybe puckpedia will be better?
Plus CapFriendly's website was a nightmare to use
Wouldnt be suprised if campbell bounces back. When expectations are low is the only time he plays good.
Heavy price to pay for Guentzel if he decides to go to market ie only a day away
Yes they get to try and sign him, can now offer him 8 yrs
It may pay off big time for them.....but we will see
Never seen so many big moves, July 1st is actually gonna be good this yr
Cambell buyout is a great buyout, lot better than keeping that contract even if he gets back to the nhl it’s a yikes
Oh I am mad.
Which website will you be using when Capfriendly will be shut down ?
Utah will be a player
👍🏾👍🏾
that tealls me the canes may keep necas
I know this is delusional because the Kings are now set for both short-term and longer-term, but part of me is curious about what would happen if Campbell went back to LA. The Kings resurrected his career once, could they do it again (i.e., what they've already decided to do with Kuemper)? The only reason they let him go was that Quick was still the clear #1 guy in LA, and Soupy has not been anywhere near the same without Bill Ranford's mentorship.
May work. I wish Campbell the best but when you have Schwartz as the goalie coach and Woodcroft playing mind games you have to be strong mentally and positionally to come out unscathed. So glad the Oil got rid of Woodcroft but Campbell was a casualty.
I think TB fans are stuck in the past, for good reason tho
Good to see Bailey and Kunin back. Good players for San Jose.
Kunin is not a good player. Offers nothing more than a league min player brings.
Dude hit the jackpot. Getting paid big bucks for his grit, good for him.
Probably not a bad idea for the leafs to at least look at Campbell, only place he ever looked good
Patiently waiting Blackhawks news…
How long before the leafs signs Campbell to be starter ?
There is a reason leafs didn't sign Campbell to start with. They might snag him at league min as a backup.
@@hassam363Martin Jones is better
Lol.. maybe they sign him for 800K as #3 goalie, put him in AHL if Martin Jones decides to leave.
@@michaelkirkpatrick7483 make him backup if Jones doesn’t play
Hot take but maybe the Oilers are able to offload Kane and sign Stammer for 1 year cup run? a Hyman-McDavid-Stammer line would go crazy same with RHN-Draisaitl-Stammer or Holloway-Draisaitl-Stammer
The Oilers need some younger, tougher guys, IMHO.
It's strange that no one would trade their 2025 6th for Boqvist and a 7th.
His caphit is pretty high for a 3rd pairing defenceman with problems staying healthy. If a team wants him they could sign him for way less money in FA. Plus the fact that every GM knew, that this off-season is Columbus last chance to buy him out team friendly, so why help them and give them something?
Feel bad for Campbell, he was thrown under the bus pretty hard by the oilers and their fans, like no goalie was going to save them when they were playing that badly.
Jake Guentzal is going to be 30 in a couple months.
yea. Prime.
I didn’t know he was 29
Still half decade younger than Stamkos
Campbell should head over to Europe.
True, he would probably make more money there than on an AHL contract.
I doubt he’s worried about money with the buy out. He’s making bank for a while.
He's shown plenty of ability in the NHL. Someone will give him over 1m.
To the Flames
To bad Russia has been canceled by the whole world, they make some serious under the table bank in the KHL.
CBJ is about to make a huge trade
What is a TLDR on why Tampa traded for one day to negotiate with Guentzel? As far as I know he would have had to been on the team prior to the offseason to get an 8 year deal so this doesn't change the term. Is there some other aspect to it other than then getting a one day head start on signing him?
I'm pretty sure if you have the rights to that player you can sign him to 8 years. Tampa has his rights for today and then tomorrow he becomes a UFA so other teams can make offers to him. But Tampa is now the only one that can offer an 8 year deal.
@@angushiltz4880 I saw that he was only eligible for a 7 year deal. My understanding is you have to be on the team prior to the end of the season. As far as I know that is the only difference between having his rights and not but then that makes no sense if they spent a 3rd round pick and get nothing out of it.
Paying for a buyout until 2030 does actually sound pretty terrible ngl
Not a Bolts fan by any means, it makes sense to me to end the relationship with Stamkos
Guentzel was a rental trade but fit in perfectly and would have been fun with Aho for years. Shame he got away as the Canes are trying to win now.
No hate on him just wanting the money. He will get paid by TB and have no state income tax.
True but they also have high property taxes high sales taxes high housing cost and high insurance cost.
@@davidfox9947 Have a feeling you dont live in Florida. Florida is middle of the road on all those things except house insurance cost, and for a millionaire it's not bad at all, I'm sure they can afford it.
Don Waddell is on the warpath. Heads are rolling. Things are happening. Yay.
trading a 3rd round pick for less than 24 hours of 1st dibs on negotiating rights, with no guarantee the guy will sign with you in the end (at the last minute right before free agent frenzy day, when you still have your own big name star UFA to sign - but it looks like not) - now that's an impulse move
Stammer going to Red wings?
Leafs should bring campbell back for league min
Domi resigned by the Leafs.
Im glad we didnt overpay to keep Stammer. If he wasnt willing to take a team friendly deal to stay here he can cash in on the open market. Injury history and age are due here shortly.
Stamkos signing with the Canes? Lol
Panthers Stanley Cup parade was today 😎💆♂
Great vibe! Only thing I'd change was that they should've done a role call on stage for each player to 'take a bow'.
Hopefully 2 year vet minimum for dutchy
You cam not blame Guentzel if he wants top dollar from the bolts he was close to being totally free. With the effort they have put forth give them a chance but no reason for a discount.
Campbell to the Canucks?
I wonder if Dallas goes after Adam Boqvist.
Bos, StL, Color, Det, Edm, LAk, VGk, Ott, Phi, Pit, Sea, SJ, Tam, Van, Was, & Wpg, I can see a whole bunch of teams giving him a shot as a 5th/6th/7th D
As a Lightning fan. Im not mad about this. Obviously, we love Stamkos. But, I think its that time. Let him go. Thanks to him for what he did for us.
@@Magdalena8008s a real Lightning fan would want their point per game face of the franchise captain to stay with the team
Terrible take. I'll take stamkos over anyone or any win all day everyday. He's our captain, he belongs in tampa his whole career
@@wuowuokong a real lightning fan wants the team to get better and they did
@@WhiskeyGrandmathen you're a stamkos fan not a lightning fan
Tbh I'd rather have Jake on the Bolts than any Metro team if he's not on the Pens
Tampa Bay not cooked?
Can the canes still sign him?
Tampa won that trade. Only a 3rd round pick? That’s it?!!
Also to hell with the Caps for buying out CapFriendly. I’ll be rooting against them every time.
For negotiation rights. Still a possibility he doesn't sign but seems likely he will
It's basically a gamble, Jake is not signed yet remember that. So he could hit the Free agency market on Monday and the Canes still lost a lot regardless they got at least one of there 4 picks back
