Imagine making it all the way to the NHL just to be known as “The other Sebastian Aho” 😂
Him and the other Elias Pettersson need to get together on a D pairing.
@@AlexAnteroLammikko Or they should both become NYPD cops and call themselves The Other Guys.
@@TylerJohnstonGuitar They are both Swedish, they are both NHL players, and they are both named the same as much more famous superstars.
Somebody needs to pick them up some kind of reality tv show :p
The really funny part is that in order to be good enough to make the NHL, he likely spent most of his life being the best player on his team and was known as THE Sebastien Aho.
@@FHL-Devils I can only imagine. I was pissed when I shared a first name with another goalie on my high school team 😂
That stamkos quote.... Ouch.... Felt that a few times in my life 😢😂
Marchessault is the definition of "chip on the shoulder". he was the face of all thoses year 1 Vegas players who were let go by their team in the expansion draft. his Conn Smythe cimented that legacy. Having him convince Stamkos to be on the same team, with that same chip on the shoulder, will be something else. i've never been excited about the preds but as a habs fan, now i will take notice.
He won the Conn Smythe leading Vegas to the cup I just do not understand what Vegas was thinking not moving heaven and earth to keep their franchise player
Lets go dude, its gonna be weird having all eyes on our team for the first time since we lost to crosby and the boys in the finals. Usually its quiet in nashville until we kick up a storm but this year everyones gonna be watching. Can't wait to see how it plays out
Vegas can’t keep March and they knew that prior to last year. Eichel, Stone, Petro…they cant keep everyone. And if they did manage to sign March, someone would have been traded out for him. Don’t pretend like Vegas hasn’t been this position before. Remember Marc Andre Fleury?
@@nickh4354 Barry Trotz will not dissapoint i can tell you that. he's opening that cup window wide open.
Don't forget Marchessault had his breakout year while playing with Stamkos, and it was easy to see in 2015 that he had the grit and drive to be a star in the league. So I am sure they will be fun to watch together again.
Marchy was called out. There was a rumor going around that the team was offering 7m 3yr but he wasn't taking less than 5 years. He was firm. So was the team. SO while we will always love Marchy, we can just wish him the best of luck. 39 year old forward making 5.5m is just insane that isn't name McDavid.
McOverrated ain't worth what he gets in his prime, when he's 39 he won't be fast anymore. League minimum might be too high.
Future Considerations getting traded twice in a day, poor guy!
Wondering how he is going to travel and play for both Ottawa and Dallas at the same time or are they twins/players with the same name
@@kerrybennett8030The other Future Consideration.
@@kerrybennett8030 "The other Sebastian Aho"
Future Considerations really gets around. He’s almost as overused as Joe Activity.
You know. Activity in the bullpen. Seems like every baseball team has a fellow named Activity!
(Sorry for the Bad Dad Joke! 😂)
Blues got both Joseph boys today. Signed Pierre-Olivier after the trade.
Future Considerations: St Louis has traded the same player three times in one free agency period. I hope that guy signed up for all the airlines frequent flyer plans...
Hip hip hooray blues did something, and im totally ready to see that zillion breakaways that don't end up in the net. That's how we roll in the Lou 😂
As long as he can pass to Thomas, Kyrou, or Buch, I'm happy.
Was gonna say, we’re already used to that with Kyrou 😂
4 years after giving Buchnevich away for nothing, Chris Drury is still looking for a 1RW 😂….suits him right
Vegas not trying hard to keep a player? I don't believe it!
They are clearing space for draisaitl for next year!…I think they will be shocked tho because not everyone wants to play for a team that has no conscious!
@@dianedyck3474players want to win, clearly McOverrated and the oil stain can't do that, so why not go somewhere, winning is the culture? I'm not a Draisaitl fan but he would definitely put Vegas back in contention. If he learns how to play with grit and not just cheap shots and dirty hits.
atta boy Buchnevich
For a team that's retooling in the Blues, I'm good with these moves.
really nice seeing faksa to blues. have loved his game in dallas. very strong player.
Preds eliminating Vegas and Tampa on the way to the cup would be fun
Even though Tatar was only in Seattle a short time, he made an impact. Hilarious guy and always seemed happy. Glad he’s going back to a team he’s familiar with.
A couple years ago Tank Tarasenko would not have lasted past day 1 of free agency. He’s an enigma now. I think the injuries (was it shoulder?) caught up to him and his recent game has fallen off badly. At times during the playoffs he looked good but other times he looked a step behind. He’s coming off a 7.5M contract and there’s no way he’s getting anywhere near that again. What is he worth now? 2-3M per for a couple years maybe?
Really going to miss Faksa. Awesome guy.
Prepare yourself Blues fans, you're about to see a zillion breakaways that don't end up in the net.
Except against Tampa😭
Did they sign Brandon Tanev also?
Which player you referring to? I'm not familiar with either one that came here(STL).
We already do that
@@brianlb78Joseph
With Ottawa looking the way they do its gonna take an absolute miracle for Ullmark to even consider an extension
Staios is just trying to clean up the mess Dorion made
Thanks for the updates, Shannon! Exciting time of year regardless of whether your team is making moves or not
As a wild fan seeing Nashville pick up stamkos and marchessault scares the bejesus out of me. The central division was stacked as it was haha.
Lol I hear you buddy, I'm a dirty blues fan and was just thinking walking the dogs earlier the preds can be a real problem this year. They added two 30+ goal scorers. Not good for us central dudes
Winnipeg, here. I was getting nice and comfortable not having to worry about Nashville. Ah, well. Every new season is a fresh start for the enemy too, I guess.
The Nashville fans will be out in force if those 2 guys can produce as they’re expected. The atmosphere at Bridgestone is pretty awesome when the team is doing well. Been to half a dozen games there (mostly Vancouver vs Nashville and one Stanley Cup playoff game which was nuts) and it’s a rock’n place.
@@DanielC__ I gained an appreciation for the Nashville fandom in the 2018 playoffs when my Jets played them. It was a crazy series we played right after another crazy series with Minnesota. Stinkin' division rivals! Stay out of my cup run!
I feel like we're trading in the Stars and Jets being good for the Preds and Blackhawks
Future considerations is on fire right now!!
Tatar back to NJ is quite surprising. But a good surprise
Welcome back to NJ Tuna
Honestly no way Tampa could've resigned Stamkos or Hedman and remained competitive. Which when you have prime Kuch and Point, you should 100% be playing to win cups.
They traded for all of Mcdonaughs cap had they simply not done that they could have kept Stamkos, the guy is your franchise player to let him go and not even try to keep him is really bad for the organization.
@@love4adventurzit was the best thing for the organization. Defense was awful last year and Stammer 5v5 was terrible. McDonagh drastically improves the team. JBB did right.
@@love4adventurzexcept McDonagh drastically improves Tampa’s defense…and letting Stamkos goes while hurts was the right idea, he’s old and a defensive liability there was a reason he was -21
“The face of the franchise” tag isn’t what GMs are looking to sign. Stamkos is in the twilight of his career and a liability. Franchises are about winning and winning now, not being sentimental of veteran players on the downslope.
@Drainbamege then if I was players I would stop taking less money to stay with a team his last contract he signed was why less then market value if the team doesn't honor that by rewording the player for taking less money then why should the player take less money I would tell all players to get as much as you can it's a business and they can get rid of you
Wow the Blues cloned the future considerations from the PIT trade and pawned them onto Sens and Stars. Armstrong is a mastermind.
Outside looking in, I thought Tampa moving on from Stamkos was more surprising than Vegas and Marchessault. Home grown 80 point producer who won 2 Richard trophies. Probably deserved to finish his career there
The most disrespectful thing about Stamkos was the last time he was a UFA he took less to stay in Tampa, had he gone to market he would have been offered up to 12 million but he opted to take less and stay in Tampa, and how do they pay him back they do not even call him last summer to work something out, it is so uncool of them to do that
I agree that it's seriously uncool to not give your franchise leader in...everything...a honest shot at ending his career with the team, having a career that only played for that team. On the other hand, doing the Caps way and dooming yourself for the rest of a players career is not cool to the fans. In this case, I feel like the Preds are the real winners but time will tell. Trotz has a tendency to cling on to, and get the most of, veterans.
I think if you take the emotion out of it, replacing Stamkos with Guentzel is good business. But I understand Tampa fans being upset that a club legend and longtime captain was let go seemingly unceremoniously.
A lot of people understand this. Its just media buzz makin out to be more than it is
Yup, I posted something similar in a reply above. Ask 100 fans if they would trade Guentzel for Stammer and I think most would take that at their current ages/contracts.
The future consideration are owed by St Louis to the other teams
And the power of THG strikes again: Pinto just signed a new contract with Ottawa
Love this move brining Tatar back to NJ. Small term and price - and he will look to recapture the 22-23 form.
Nashville has become a scary team. I think they're going to be my lock in for a spot in the conference finals.
Vegas did the right thing some of these contracts may not age well yes it’s disappointing but have to move on
Extremely happy Tuna is back in Jersey. He was great on a line with Nico and Dawson.
The Stars finally unloaded Radek Faksa. I am stunned and very pleased. Decent faceoff player, but never truly developed beyond a fourth line center.
Blues add a center, remove a center, add 2 wingers, and are still in need of a center lmao, sometimes I laugh. Texier is technically a center, but he took 19 faceoffs last year, so I doubt he’s going to go there.
Thomas, Schenn, Faksa and who knows. Sundqvist is a center, but also a 4th liner/swiss army knife (at times). Zach Dean is decent at faceoffs, but I wonder if he even makes roster to start. So are we back to needing 2 centers? Nathan Walker can play center at times but is a bit undersized for the position (although he’ll still fight someone quite a bit bigger than him).
Like the additions, but I think we’re now at 50 contracts and still missing parts unless plan is Thomas, Dvorsky, Faksa and Walker at center I don’t quite know what is going on.
@@thomasthomasthomas296We have like 8 guys that can play center, never mind the kids coming up the pipeline. Im not saying they are good at center, but several can do it or have done it. Its going to be a season where we find out who takes the reigns, as thomas is the only one we can pencil in for certain. My hot take....before the year is done our 4c is schenn, for better or for worse. Go blues.
@@thomasthomasthomas296You don’t need to know what’s going on. Let the process play out.
As a Stars fan I was pointing out how fantastic it is the team unloaded his contract. Faksa is a 4th line center getting paid $3.5 million to only win faceoffs and contribute to the PK. His point totals collapsed after signing that contract as well as his minutes.
Preds will be scary.
The Nashville fan base is happy about it.
Marchy was offered a 3 year contract but he was looking for 5 years so he declined. Heard it was 7million AVV for 3 years but don’t quote me on that. Anyways it’s a business and I wish him nothing but the best in Nashville. Gives a guy like Brisson to get regular playing time. GKG
Hated to see marchy leave but I also hate dishing out long term contracts to players that are in early/mid 30s. You always get diminishing returns on those contracts
This new sub is a casual fan in New Orleans, following recommendations on Tom Grossi’s video about the NHL.
Let’s go Hawks!
NAsheville ain't no wild card team anymore I fear
TUNA IS BACK LETS GO
Should've never let him go in the first place. Hopefully him, Dawson and Nico can regain some of their chemistry they had 2 years ago. Would really get Dawson back on track.
@@NothingToPointOut24 agreed!
Listening to Marchessault then listening to the GM of Vegas. I hate to say this but I am in agreement with Vegas. Vegas will see the loss over the next two to three years but that fourth and fifth year will probably see very down years. But as Kelly said in press Conference, Marchessault has proved people wrong his whole career
Can't wait until Steen takes over GM
Was hoping stars traded Faksa to Toronto while retaining 25 for Robertson. This works too I guess
18 year old Nicholas Robertson?
Preds Have Marchessault, Stamkos, O’Rielly, Josi, Saros…..Trotts is quietly building a stellar team..
It’s not quiet. Everyone is aware.
Dang it, Marchessault and the Habs looked like a done deal even before the playoffs started, I know I remember talk were had with Kent Hughes and Jonathan. We have the cap space for one veteran who is still in his prime to help out our very young squad. That would literally push the Habs into playoffs seeking territory if so, as long as Monty keeps getting better every year like he has been doing ever since he got the job as 1A. Oh well, I still think the Habs will be able to attract a 30 goal scoring veteran who has won elsewhere like in 20-21 when nobody expected anything from them and suddenly Eric Staal and Corey Perry were acquired at the deadline. Both were pretty good during those playoffs too. Speaking of Eric Staal, yet another year where he wasn't playing in the NHL, I forgot if he was playing at all, but unlike his brother Marc, last I heard is that he wanted to play until he was 40. I'd take him back in a heartbeat as a 4th line centre even if we're packed at that position (Suzuki, Dach, Newhook, Evans). That kind of player would be a backup plan to me in case you can't get your hands on a UFA that has experience and is not washed out and could play on the second line with Dach.
Nashville fan here! I think Tampa and Vegas did the right thing…
Lots going on this year. Lots of trades and signings.
Hi Shannon !...
Pinto would really solve the Devils top 6 hole but not sure what it would take to get him. Maybe a pick and Siegenthaler? Do the Sens know that defensemen are important in hockey?
You don't get a young player like Pinto for a mid defenceman and a pick. Sorry.
@@SceptileSlash Maybe you didnt see where I said not sure what it would take to get him? There's a thing called leverage and the Sens are losing it each day with him. And he's a nice player with some upside but lets not act like we're talking about a superstar here.
Like Chychrun, I'm sure he'll eventually be traded for less than what people are thinking.
The Sens have Sanderson, Chabot, and Zub. They just traded Chychrun because he wasn't a fit and underperformed.
@@kylejohansen689 And they'd eventually have to pay him, but with Ulmarks likely extension coming up, they wouldn't be able to even with Giroux coming off the books.
@@NothingToPointOut24 Sens can't lose leverage with him unless he gets offer sheeted, even then they'll match anything realistically. He's an RFA with no arbitration rights.
I guess you're right when you say you don't know what it takes to land a young right handed top 6 centre though.
I like Tatar but with all the guys available yesterday wish we ended up with one of them
Tatar is great for NJ right now. The lineup had a questionmark for a 2nd line winger spot. Moving any of the other players there had a cascading impact on the 3rd and 4th lines that put them out of balance. This should really lock in the lines for the start of the season
I wish Buch was still playing for Rangers..
Emotional Lightning fan here. No way we could/should have signed Stamkos 4x8mil. Bittersweet ending to a great era, but it's the right move. Good for Stammer getting paid.
Stamkos is 34 and since when did Vegas been loyal to their players?
They were loyal to their original misfits.. until they won the cup😂
Wrong. Fluery was traded out for nothing to make room for new acquisitions.
Stamps being 34 doesn’t mean he’s just suddenly bad 😂
Love Fitzy brought back Tomas Tatar!!
Nashville is a bumping town. Zero state income tax in TN (doesn’t matter), but highest state sales tax (9.25%). Preds doing win now, I think. Probably isn’t the best move long-term, though. Stammers and Marchy will do well and will be embraced (if you’ve ever been to a Preds game, you’ll know), but I cannot get past the cartoon logo and canary. The alternate logo should be the primary (And SJ and Vancouver).
Pinto can come to his hometown of Frankllin Square Ny which is just 15 mins from UBS arena, i think thatd be nice
Blues have 10 bottom 6 forwards now
"That Blues brand of hockey"
Oh, I’m pretty sure we have more than 10 bottom 6 pieces if you count the ones who will end up in Springfield
The Blues are gonna roll with one second line, two third lines, and a fourth line.
This was also reported on radio
Today 😢
It would be great to see JVR stay/go back to Boston for 1 more season
He still looks decent, probably signs a 1 yr with VGk, Color, NJ, NYi, Pit or Det?
Oh and the Blues just signed Joseph's brother
Faksa…😢😢
I was glad blues signed nobody new yesterday taken up a roster spot and salary cap on a bad contract
I miss Tatar; I think Larks called him Tuna in a live mic video. Tatar was a good player.
JBB did right. Its tough wearing the pants but it had to be done. The team is better now.
I’d love to see Roslovic get signed by Buffalo. Could be a decent 3rd line option
How do guys think the Av’s look for next year?
I’m nervous. The Landeskog and Nichushkin contracts are a massive burden at this point. Even if they both come back, I’m not optimistic about Landeskog’s play relative to his contract, nor am I about Nichushkin’s ability to stay out of trouble. I think they will be a wild card team and probably out round 1.
I hate to see Stammer go, but it's business.
"The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few"
Bonus points if you get that reference.
Fans can be pissed all they want, but bottom line is there are finite dollars available to GM's to sign players that will (they hope) equate to a winning team.
It's nothing new.
Tampa fans are heartbroken. That's kinda all there is to it.
I think fans will quickly forgive a long-time franchise player going if their team does better for it...
Really don’t like that for the sens. I know they have to clear up money but losing a solid B6 and PK energy guy and paying to do it with nothing in return sucks
Blues traded the same guy to two teams...
Same guy from Pittsburgh from the hayes deal
No, it's like Sebastian Aho. Different guys, both named Future Considerations.
Can the NHLPA make a rule like the Screen Actors guild and where they can only be one with that name. It would make play by play a lot easier.
Lankinen to Montreal is good deal I guess. They can try him as 1B goalie with Montembault. Primeau is soft, I think he is at best 2A goalie. Also maybe Gustavsson from Minnesota to Montreal? And Minnesota will have Wallsted-Fleury and Groesnick as third, also talented Hlavaj in the AHL.
Flyers still haven’t really done anything
Toronto 89 to Dallas
He signed
it's hard to read the text in red, please don't use red anymore
Man I wonder how many other old devils fitzy is going to sign here ffs 😅
Staios just seems like the new villain in Ottawa. The travis Green hiring and timing of it is beyond dumb and this is probs the least excited I'll be for a season since 2019. First Melnyk. Then DJ. Then Dorion. Then Staios. The perpectual cycle of house cleaning in Ottawa may never come to an end.
And he kinda came out of nowhere. There were other candidates that on paper seemed like a much better fit, Staios wasn't even a whisper at the time, then suddenly he's the GM. Travis Green signing was baffling. I would have brought Guy Boucher back honestly if you're going for a budget signing. I think they let Boucher go to early, you don't let a guy walk after he drags a team to the playoffs who have no business being there. I thought boucher did fantastic in that Sens era, outside of a battered and bruised Karlssonn and an emerging Stone, they had NOBODY on that roster and still were a headache for every team they played (a 20 game win streak by your 3rd string goalie definitely greatest those wheels too)
@@nathanbrisebois8756 The "budget signing" is just as idiotic for where this franchise is. All it does is reinforce the ideals of the previous regime which we should be straying as far away from. I highly doubt they were rejected by every other proven and experienced coach available either.
@FFSRayy I agree with straying from the ideals and attitudes of the previous regime. But Staios and Green feels like more of the same to me. Bringing back Guy Boucher would have been a left field move, they would save money as they did with Green, and if they let him do his thing, like Melnyk didn't, maybe he'd do super well here with a much more talented roster. When he pushed back against management, we won games. He was a hard ass, but still respected by the younger players in his time here. Ottawa has extended and signed many coaches that had mediocre records with more talented rosters. Boucher did an admirable job with the roster we had at the time. Look at some players he coached and where they are now, Zibanejad, Stone, Ceci, and probably more I can't think of off the top of my head. I was a pretty big Boucher fan of honestly, and I always thought if they had extended him, the Sens and the Atlantic division would have looked alot different over the past years. Boucher has worked under great coaches for successful organizations. Melnyk hated his guts and so he didn't get extended, but Boucher is the only coach in recent memory where the team really felt different. I believe he benched Bobby Ryan when he wasn't paying well, whereas every other coach kept him in the lineup because lOoK hOw MuCh wE pay HiM derp. If a player has a bad contract, and isn't playing well, don't shelter their ego, bench their ass and give someone else an opportunity. That way you only have one concrete shoe in that contract, instead of two with that and poor on ice performance.
But what does this armchair GM know
@@nathanbrisebois8756 How does the typical Boucher stint with NHL teams go? Overperform and wow in the first season thn implode until he gets fired. We're not sending ourselves into another perpetual rebuild as fans would be so disinterested the franchise would be forced tk relocate. After 2017 he basically became another DJ Smith. This roster would likely suffer even more under Boucher's systems bc it's mainly defense. Players wont ever see their true potential under Boucher. We've had enough villains in the higher ups.
At least the only way that the Panthers face Stamkos and Marchessault in a playoff series is if they are in the Stanley Cup Final again.
Cats vs Cats!
For god sake, please someone make Staios go
Losing faksa is a punt on the season, farewell head of the table... the tribal chief
You forgot Cam Atkinson is still available
Wow! Within 5 minutes of my comment, I get a notification that Atkinson has been signed by Tampa Bay Lightning for 1yr/$900k.
Steep price for butch I get it though I don’t mind keeping him but definitely think the better decision was to move him and get a haul
Ask yourself whether you'd rather be Pittsburg, Washington and Chicago or Tampa. I'm not saying what the right answer is, I'm just highlighting the advantages and disadvantages
IT'S....a....BUSINESS!
Never forget that it's pure entertainment, nothing more!
Entertainment provides opportunity to do nothing useful, mostly.
Everything comes to a end. Keeping players to for long just draging your team down. Cant have to many older players. Simple as that.
on not keeping a player with the team I totally blame management they only look at the numbers not the player. My example is away from yours. IMHO trading away Zuccarello after he gave 2 team frenley team deal was a gut punch he is and was a fan favorite I feel it cost us the cup imagine a Panarin/troacheh/ zucc line the ranger were week on the RW depth after moving buch and zucc but zucc I feel hurt more one you move a fan favorite management can never get the base support again
Vegas? That’s Vegas for you: where there’s no loyalty…only winners.
Tampa? IDK…
Stamkos was offered shit from Tampa. Fans should have the GMs head
Devils overpaid for another guy, hopefully he will be a trade piece to upgrade the top 6 and get some size at the TDL. They still havent Sign the 3 big RFAs.
And just like that, any liking that I had for Jonathan Marchessault has evaporated. To find out that he orchestrated this move (after a year of saying that he wanted to retire as a Knight and how much he loved it here)…to basically thumb his nose at the city after 7 years? Yep, I’m done with him. Good luck, Marchy. Have fun in Nashville. Good luck.
I feel like people are exaggerating how bad Ottawa's moves are, I have been fine with them. They are on the conservative side, predictable even given what everyone knows what they need to do to improve the team. Nothing too lengthy on the contract side, and getting rid of the players on bad contracts or that didn't fit with a decent return where there is an opportunity. Pretty standard for a new GM. At least they are not going out to get a big offensive player that is a poor fit and has little chance of staying (Debrincat and Chychrun).
Nashville should change their name to the Nashville Brandon's
Isn't future consideration just kinda a nice way of saying nothing or no benefit? Why would a team honor future considerations in the future?
Future considerations can literally mean a round of golf or a case of beer.
If you stiff the other team on FC, others won't deal with you in the future.
I love it when my Ottawa signs Amadio and then immedielty trades a pick to ditch one of there only decent depth guys last year in Joseph. WHATS THE POINT! Honestly i don't even know why you brought the road trip up, this team is so useless that I'll be the least surprised person if they started the year 0-9.
Bump
