Thanks for the support on this video :) I used Cyberpunk v1.04. Now there are tons of ways to tweak the game for slower PCs + CDPR has dropped updates to improve performance. I'm not sure if I'll end up trying those out in the future -- but I figured I would let y'all know. Hope y'all had a great Christmas!

I love seeing old hardware get a second life. A few months back I troubleshot an old pc from 2011 which a friend wanted to throw out. Turns out a decent amount of new thermal paste was all it took, now it makes for a decent home theater pc.
So much gets thrown out without being technically broken :(
Bro, where tf yall live? You find i5s in the dumpster meanwhile where I live people ask for like 300 bucks for their Celeron D optiplex
All i ever find are i3 or i5s 2nd gen in the trash
He's near Atlanta GA which is a city that tends to attract people with a lot more money than sense at times. My sister use to live near Atlanta in the early 00's, and I went to help her take some stuff off to recycle once while I was visiting her for the weekend, and I found 2 laser disc players, a couple of G3 Imacs just ready for the picking I took home, cleaned up, and flipped on eBay for some nice cash at the time, and yes everything worked, just one of the Laser disc players needed a belt, and was missing it's remote, but the Imacs had the keyboards, and mice included.
Can only speak for Germany, it's rare but it happens. Someone wanted to get rid of an old mystery machine that wasn't really running anymore and was dustier than what we saw in this video. Paid the guy 14 bucks for an i7 2600k (also had to fix the cooler), 650W Corsair PSU, GT610 GPU and an open case. Essentially needed a new cooler, case, RAM and SSD but still got a really good deal, especially with the PSU.
my best luck was an i5 4590 machine for 2 dollars at a church sale, I didn't realize at the time but the only thing wrong was that the front panel power button wasnt plugged in
Commodorefan64 explained it pretty well! Living in a tech hub helps A LOT. Even so - it's suuuuper rare. This is the first time I've ever gotten a machine that's even capable of modern gaming and I've been doing this for like 5 years now

Awesome video, dude!
I've been adding SSD's to my families old machines for about a year now, and I know the alllll about the troubleshooting struggles with older hardware. It's super worth it to see the look on people's face when they realize they don't need to spend $800+ on a new system to get a modern experience.
Cheers from Toronto!
The fact that he just wants to give it away is amazing so humble 🙏😭❤️
Fun video but you were in the desert, that PC would have melted in the city :) I'll also say I've only ever had success with the oven technique on a Fermi card. Something about that weird giant heat spreader. Hope you had a decent holiday :)
Oven method has worked for me on an 8800 GTS back in the day. As all research pointed out though, the fix only lasted a few months before the problem returned :/
You are not wrong at all when it comes to the performance in the city LOL. I'm glad the oven trick does work even if it's only temporary. Hope you had a great Christmas, too TJ!
I have had success with a heat gun using Kapton tape and tinfoil over sensitive components as a protective buffer. I have done 8 cards total and had 6 come back and are still running up to 2 years later now. Never liked the oven method, I use a temperature probe (450° F is the sweet spot) and with the above mentioned method I can zero in on the die itself. This has saved me tons of money buying used dead "parts" cards for cheap potato rigs I then sell (how I make a living). Half a dozen rigs sold with refurbishment done to the GPUs using this method and not one warranty call to date.
@@x7slim8x dude that’s actually super sick, good on you.
@@idealrunner5043 thanks, yeah I am a fan for sure! Alot of naysayers are out there saying the cards wont last etc etc... well my personal experiences have been great with the method I use!
Finally, a PC I can afford.
If you really want a nice computer use something like this as a "base" platform and slowly upgrade your components as you go, you can even use your older parts to help pay for new ones once you get going enough. I did this from 2015-2019 and now I'm rockin a 3700x and a 2070xc

Love watching your videos. Yes, they are informative but your vibe makes them so calming and soothing 👍
Great video. I actually have both the case and motherboard. I got the motherboard for free for helping a friend with a project. I removed the original CPU and put in a Xeon CPU in it and I now use it as a game server. I use the case with a different system because I needed the front external bay slots so I could install optical drives in it so I can RIP my DVD, Blu-ray, and CD collections. So long story short I was able to repurpose them both.
Good job bringing Lazarus back from the dead, his namesake would be proud. This was a fun ride, thanks for bringing us along.
Watching this vid made me realise that I’ve never touched my old PC setup 5 years ago ever since I’ve gotten a new laptop, and now I’m inspired to dismantle my old setup and rebuilding it to get into PC building more, great video!

Dude, I like your channel. I passed you up once, but then I realized what you are doing. I remember back when I was a young adult and would try all kinds of things on older hardware just to see what is possible. I was able to get Quake 2 to run on a Cyrex 233 at one point because I had a Voodoo banshee to put in it. It allowed me to have friends over for Lan parties even though none of my friends even owned a computer. For some reason making old hardware perform is just magical. Keep up the videos!

It's hard to find someone that wants a 10 year old PC, even if it was high end.
most people seem to not want to buy used electronics at all. the market for all these products is set up in a way so replacing your iphone, or your laptop, or your TV, or whatever product, continually get more affordable and easy and discourages people from taking the time and effort to learn how to fix them instead. It's also why most people opt out of the far superior DIY route to PCs and just buy a Dell or a console. We have these business models to blame for our consumer habits and the ridiculous amount of e-waste produced.
Markets for these products understand that electronics are complicated and reduce all the work on the consumer end by selling weaker pre-built devices. That way there is always a sizeable upgrade in the works to the outdated product you literally just bought. You're always better off learning how and doing things yourself, and stretching your dollar, than trusting someone who is targeting you for profit...
pc components follow the same model too though unfortunately, which is why we had 500 Nvidia cards released this year alongside 20 different AMD ryzens lol
lol, i just built 3 Systems with a X5670 @ 4,4Ghz, 24GB of RAM and an RX580. All of them sold in an instant. These old intel platforms are still going really strong
