0:00 Introduction: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease
0:15 The missing nutrient in fatty liver disease
1:26 Fatty liver causes
3:19 Top foods high in choline
4:20 Check out my video on how keto can help remove fat from the liver!
A fatty liver isnât always the result of alcohol consumption. There is a common disorder called non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, and thatâs what weâre going to talk about today.
There is one key nutrient that is almost always missing in those who have a fatty liver, and that nutrient is choline.
Iâm convinced that if you donât consume enough choline in your diet, you will develop a fatty liver. Choline is an essential nutrient. One of the main purposes of choline is to remove fat from the liver.
Choline is also involved in your brain chemistry, muscle chemistry, and cell membranes. But unfortunately, a choline deficiency is pretty common.
Potential causes of a fatty liver:
⢠Alcohol
⢠A high-carb diet
⢠Corticosteroids
⢠Tylenol
⢠High blood pressure medications
⢠Solvents
⢠Petroleum products
⢠Viruses
⢠Insulin resistance (high insulin)
⢠Low vitamin D, B12, or B3
⢠Low folic acid
⢠Seed oils
⢠Fructose
⢠High iron
Four lesser-known potential causes of a fatty liver:
1. Anorexia nervosa
2. Gastric bypass
3. Parenteral nutrition
4. Antibiotics
Foods high in choline:
⢠Egg yolks
⢠Liver
⢠Beef
⢠Chicken
⢠Cruciferous vegetables
⢠Salmon
⢠Almonds
You may want to include more choline in your diet if you have fatty liver disease. If you take choline as a supplement, consider taking 3 grams per day to help speed up fat removal from your liver.
Including choline as a part of your keto diet could be very beneficial. Check out more of my videos on the keto diet.

People at increased risk of developing a choline deficiency include athletes, those who drink a lot of alcohol, postmenopausal women, and pregnant women. Choline may play a key role in healthy brain function, heart health, liver function, and pregnancy.

I still struggle to eat regularly but I am one of those who does not lose any weight from not eating. I force myself to eat more often because. I am aware of how nutritionally deficient I've become and i am working on balancing my body so I can heal my entire body
I am one of those too who do not loose weight by not eating. I used to eat 3 times a day, now I only do once a day for 2 years now and still my weight is the same pretty much, now I started eating twice a day, lol. Maybe going back to 3 times a day if I stay on the same weight.

Iâm so happy I found you! Iâm here and first before I get started, I want to admit that I was eating everything without knowing how it would affect me later. I found out that I have a fatty liver so I started walking 5 miles a day but I realized that I was gaining weight instead of losing weight. By listening to you today I promise to myself that I will take action now and continue to do the right things concerning my health. Should I continue my 5 mile walk even though I donât see any change in weight loss?
You're probably gaining weight, because you're gaining muscle mass. Muscles are mostly made of protein, which is more dense than fat.
So yes, do keep exercising, but also make sure you're getting everything needed for your liver:
Choline (deficiency builds fatty liver, getting enough reduces it), Vitamin B3 (as nikotinic acid, not nicotinamide) but also all B-vitamins, particularly B1 and B12), and keep carbs to a minumum.
Avoid high-fructose fruits and vegetables, maltodextrin, and nicotinamide. Common sugar is also known as sucrose; it's a disaccharide which splits into fructose and glucose.
If you want to make it go faster, maybe order some Tudca, NAC, silymarin (or make tea from milk thistle seeds).
Thank you, thank you, thank you Dr. Berg! After three years of being diagnosed with a NAFL along with elevated liver enzymes, I began taking Choline as youâve suggested, and after two months, my enzymes were finally back into the normal rage. My gastric doctor had wanted me to have a liver biopsy to find out why the enzymes hadnât retuned to normal. Thank you Dr. Berg. You saved me from a potentially dangerous test. đ

There are different kinds of choline on the market, which is best to take?
I did my blood test yesterday after 5 weeks of 100% no carbohydrates no sugar no fruits no starch no red meat diet. My Liver panel test result shown AST , ALT , GGT level all perfect! Far from its top range. Just 5 weeks. My fatty liver is reversed to healthy normal. I lost 4-5kg just from dieting and stop eating after 7pm till next day lunch. 2 meals a day. Only boiled using water, steam Fish , tofu , cabbage broccoli veggies , chicken breast , black coffee no sugar for afternoon lunch and green tea no sugar during evening dinner not later than 7pm. After 7pm I fast till next day lunch 12pm. The fasting time is extremely important as this time allows digestion and some hunger which makes our body burn the fat within without exercising. Exercising barely able to reach the fat around our liver. So fasting is the effective way. I had No milk (contain high fat and high sugar) . No snacks. No all kind of bread which still are carbohydrates. No cake. No biscuits. No rice. No noodles. No fruits especially as itâs fructose are directly process only by our liver! Just 5 weeks and fatty liver is back to normal with proven liver function blood test compared to my previous test result 5 weeks ago. I feel very lively light and positive. I lost 5kg. Also My cholesterol and sugar level were also extremely good blood test result! I m looking way younger and my body is nicer too. I m 33 years old male. Non smoker non alcoholic. Didnât work in a toxic environment. I didnât exercise. But I ate much rice , fatty red meat, and milk and cookies and fruits. I slept late before. Now I kicked those bad habit n bad diet. After recovered from fatty liver, I continue my way of eating n fasting n sleeping time. I reintroduced some healthy carbohydrates back into my diet. Such as some corn carrot , some wheat bread, a little potatoes. Please make sure u do not overdo it. I really mean only some. Lack of discipline and taking it for granted will cause regrets. Iâm sharing for mankind and for those who were helpless from useless doctors. And Iâm sharing in memory of my late father who passed away due to end stage liver disease.

Given a typical American Diet, most people in America have some form of fattiness to their liver. It's just how society is. The _degree_ of fattiness is the variable between ppl. That said, The fattiness of the liver are "gallstones" in the liver. They develop over the decades of our life. These Liver "gall" stones, live in the bile ducts of the liver and are made of cholesterol. That's the fat in fatty liver. These stones block discharge of all kinds of toxins and are themselves highly toxic. Even normal people are VERY congested with 10,000s or 100,000s of liver fatty stones of various sizes, 0.5mm - 5cm and maybe larger. I've seen 3cm stones from my own liver.
The best way to reduce the fattiness of the liver is to directly discharge the liver "gall"stones. This is not medical advice. Here are the directions for directly discharging fatty liver stones and getting unblocked... look up "amaxzing livxer flushx proxtocol" on david-wolfe dota coma. My liver has been discharging very slowly over the last 6 years. I have seen aspects of my body reverse age, eg. my gray hairs are turning colored again, and skin sun spots are nearly all gone. My joints healed of very low grade arthritis that i didn't even know i had. You know that pleasant itchy feeling of a small cut healing? imagine that in all your joints. one by one, over 8 months, starting at your belly button and slowly radiating out to each join until you feel it at the tips of your fingers and toes.
He made quite a few videos to answer each of these points. If you search âcirrhosisâ or âcorrect amounts of vitamin dâ, âomega 3â, ect. on this channel/his website, you should see his videos answering each of these points.
@Ramona Quam He already answered by making videos on each of these subjects.

Good Morning , Dr.Berg đŚ
Thank you so much for sharing Exllcent content with everyone , Have a wonderful day
You're very welcome. Glad you liked it!
After watching your video and previous video on Choline. I purchased phosphatidylcholine.
Is it the same and can be used for removal of fat in liver ?
Dr. Berg do you know if phosphatidylcholine help also in the inflammation of the intestine? Thank you in advanced.
I believe Dr Berg has recommended
L+ CHOLINE BITARTRATE.
This has helped me tremendously !!â¤ď¸đ
I can't use phosphatidylcholine for my liver because it is made from estrogenic soybeans and actually makes me sick. I just put egg yolks in everything from sauces, ice cream, pudding, on top of eating eggs every morning. I add about 10 yolks to my pudding and get 3 serving out of it.
@@adenpakaraonepat1428 Dr Berg may have answered this in videos on intestines issues.
Can Dr. Berg do a video on sourdough bread? I know bread isnât keto friendly but Iâve heard sourdough bread is a healthier alternative to other types of bread
It's because I think sourdough is fermented and fermented foods are live foods. I could be wrong but don't think so.
I love sourdough bread. I've also got keto bread. Not so tasty but it's ok
Thank you for the video suggestion. I will check with Dr. Berg about doing a video on this!
Dr. Berg's Support Team.
The fermentation process breaks down the gluten..many people can enjoy sourdough who are sensitive to modern "bread"
Why not using keto bread if one needs bread?
Dr. Berg, Thank you for another video w/ helpful content! Your CZcams channel is the best! đ
Glad to help!

Very interesting. I started taking choline a few months ago inspired by your videos. Curious about my next blood check and liver check to see any change. Thanks for all the good informational videos.
What choline supplement is recommended?
You're welcome. Glad to help!
Would you please update about ur results
How much did u take
I have fatty liver too and I am taking choline and inositol 250 mg per day
And ⌠greetings from the Netherlands đłđą
@@reecenickol1241 The 'old school' bodybuilders (after taking their course of steroids) used to take 3,000 mg of Choline and 3,000 mg of Inositol per day for one month, and they`re still alive today. Edit: just reached the end of the video and Dr. Berg is saying the same (3 grams).
You could also take something called 'Tudca', but it`s really expensive. . .
I think mine was from my thyroid issues. I'm now hyperthyroidism.
I thought covid also contributed (you put virus up there too) thank you for another helpful video. Because of another video you had.. I started chloline a month ago
Have you noticed any improvements?
What type and brand of choline are you taking?
I got the shingles from my first Pfizer shot. Cost Medicare $500! I have hypothyroidism and take 88 mg. of thyroid medication.
@@MatthewSmith-gt4lc I will have my blood drawn soon. And will let you know but it hasn't been that long even thou he said keto diet too..inot 100% keto as this video suggests

Good to know! Thanks Dr Berg,
I eat lots of paturaised eggs each day đ thanks Dr. Berg been sober since 2011 đ
Thank you Dr. My daughter is 17 years, she is eating keto diet from one and half month. Before her study is good but now her study not good.Dr can I feed her some carbs. Pls guid me. My English is not good sir
She might need electrolytes. Sounds like the keto flu . Get her some power aid or other electrolytes drink. You can add 10 carbs. Not everyone can go very low carb. I do 30 a day
Thank you very much
Some people need carbs. I'd think a growing girl would definitely. I'd focus more on quality of the food..whole, organic foods.
No. Looks like she may need more salts or potassium.
What does she eats exactly?
Thank you for revealing the dose doctor! The other video you left it for homework , and I purchased a supplement that contains only 260 MG of choline. I was taking 2 per day.
Glad to help!

Please suggest the brand or the company name to buy choline supplement from.
Unfortunately, Dr. Berg does not recommend specific brands, because he can't track the source materials they use, etc. We recommend you do a bit more research on this.

Thank you! I would add mold toxins as a cause. Anyone who has lived with an excess of mold around them can have this problem. I've been in this situation.
