    Today I want to share some new interesting information on how to put diabetes in remission.
    If you fix insulin resistance, you can fix your type 2 diabetes. But, if you have a fatty liver, you can't get rid of insulin resistance.
    If you have insulin resistance, pre-diabetes, or diabetes, you need to focus on removing fat from your liver. You can develop insulin resistance with less than two percent of the liver being fatty.
    The good news is that the brain and body love to run on ketones instead of glucose for fuel. It’s crucial to start running your body on ketones to fix insulin resistance and other health concerns.
    When you decrease your blood glucose, the body starts using ketones. Within six days of running the body on ketones, you can significantly improve the effects of insulin resistance in your liver. The ketogenic diet has been shown to decrease 50 percent of the fat in a person’s liver within two weeks.
    Key things to start doing right now:
    1. Get on the ketogenic diet
    2. Consume a moderate amount of protein
    3. Consume apple cider vinegar (one to two tablespoons in water)
    4. Let your appetite dictate when you eat (eat less frequently)
    5. Exercise on a regular basis

    After being diagnosed with diabetes 7 years ago I thought it was my “slow “ death sentence. After 4 months of low carb diet and intermittent fasting (8/16) my a1c went down from 7.8 to 5.9 and from “popping “ 4 meds a day to… zero. I know it’s just beginning of my “killing diabetes “ journey but I feel like I just got parole. Now I can see diabetes it’s “beatable “ deceased.. thanks to people like Dr. Berg and Dr. Fung

      Not keeping hydrated is unwise. Dehydration can cause hikers to become confused and disoriented, which if hiking alone, can quickly lead an otherwise capable hiker to become lost. Dehydration victims often exhibit a lack of appetite from nausea and dizziness. Water with Electrolytes Salt and Potassium in it is needed for for a trek like that.

      @jasonetheridge2349 Před rokem +24

      @@KETO_DIET I understand your comment, but I hydrated beforehand and also learned salt is key, not fluids. I take high grade seasalt in lemon water in the morning. This prevented any headaches and also the requirement for more liquid.
      I cycle and walk for miles and was not advising anyone to try it. But I was fine and felt fit, healthy and focused the entire walk. I will add that I didn't eat or drink immediately when I arrived back home.

    Discovered Dr. Berg on Feb 3, 2023. By the end of March, I was down 18 lbs. The best part about Keto and IF is I am not hungry any more. I used to "live to eat"... Now I "eat to live"... It's now May 31, 2023 and I am down a total of 22 lbs. Most of my friends said I looked fine, I didn't need to lose weight. But honestly, I knew I needed it. Mainly for basic health reasons. 195 down to 173 and counting. That is over 10% of my body weight! I have a goal to hit my high school graduation weight of 165. The exciting part is that I don't care when it happens, I just know if I keep doing what I'm doing it WILL happen. I have always known low/no carb works! I have just never really stuck with it until now. Thank you Dr. Berg! I discovered you because of a random internet search. I think it was my luckiest day ever!

      Dr. Boz is also insulin resistant and started the keto diet out of solidarity with her cancer-stricken mother and gives lots of good, practical instructions, including in her books.
      I don't do keto to lose weight but to heal my kidneys and nerves. I also have problems with IF. I do a longer fast every few months (max. five to eight days). I want to start a keto group because it's not as easy to deal with setbacks alone as everyone has.
      The most important thing is to check every day whether you are really in ketosis.

    Hello. Very good this video, it is the first that I see the causal and temporal relationship between diabetes and hepatic steatosis. I had glycated hemoglobin at 8.5 some 3 months ago, and through the ketogenic diet, daily 18h fasting, and physical exercises, I lost 11kg and the glycated hemoglobin dropped to 6.46
    I skip dinner and make exercises in the morning, and I have absolutely no hypoglycemia symptoms. Soon I will have another ultrasound exam to check if there has been remission of the steatosis, and in parallel, measure the glycated hemoglobin again.
    But this video of yours is very important because it puts the focus on the liver, not just glucose reduction. Congratulations on your perceptiveness in clarifying this to the public.

    the most dangerous thing to eating properly (aka "Less") is boredom and habit. When you say "eat only when you're actually hungry", sadly most people have no idea what hunger is and how to gauge it.

    Thank you, Dr Berg. I really have benefited from your videos. Type 2 diabetic and I began a Keto diet at the beginning of the year and 2 months ago was in the ICU with euglycemic ketoacidosis for 3 days. The hospital doctor attributed it to the keto diet and Farxiga medicine I was taking at the time. I know that this is a rare case, but diabetics need to be sure to understand and discuss their meds when adopting a keto lifestyle. Thanks again for all you do.

      Definitely this! I went into DKA as a type 2 who was taking invokamet and had just started eating low carb - that’s the problem when doctors don’t actually think you are going to start eating right and doing what you need to! It was very scary and though I no longer take that medicine, it always makes me nervous!

    • @purduesteve90
      @purduesteve90 Před rokem +3

      @@katie3700 Sorry to hear that you also had this issue with drug interaction DKA. I had told my doctor that I was following a keto diet, but was never consulted on the potential danger of this combination. I have researched and learned a lot about the problem as I recovered from this and really wanted to let others know.

    • @katie3700
      @katie3700 Před rokem +1

      @@mithidas4295 unfortunately, this is not correct - when I went into dka as a type 2 due to medication my blood sugar was in the 130s (my blood sugar had been coming down due to the way I had begun eating) and dka was caused by taking the medication and eating low carb - it’s a lesser known side effect of these medications that unfortunately are not discussed nearly enough.

I ate 4 large eggs for my protein and I drank a glass of 1 tablespoon of organic apple cider vinegar. Now I am going to exercise which will build my muscles with a full body conditioning that I am provided with a 28 day workout. My target is to have 150 pound body weight. I just wanted to gain 10 pounds right now. I’m 140 pounds.
