Project Worlds Fastest Helicopter

- In this video we start a project I have wanted to do for a long time! Build the worlds fastest RC helicopter. This is Stage 1 and will be a mild setup and get the model flying and tuned to my liking and speed flight. After the first couple flights I will but the new power setup and we will see what it can do!

Will you be building an OMP M4 anytime soon? Would love to see your thoughts and build on that heli. Most likely going to be my next endeavor.
I definitely plan on building one very soon! I’m waiting to hear if OMP is going to send one out for review or if I have to purchase one. But I will get one one way or another. I am very curious on that helicopter!

I... don’t know if the retracts will reduce your overall drag significantly tbh.
I’m curious. Are you game to see how much difference there is with and without retracts in terms of max speed?

Retract will drop drag a bunch. Anything sticking out is drag. You will see upwards of 10mph gain off just the retract. Now, I do have two Comets, one will be a practice model with the fixed skid. But! Power will be a massive difference. I could always bolt the fixed skid back on to see MPH difference.
I’m very curious. I used to think the main rotor was the main reason helis could never fly as fast as fixed wing, and that was one of the biggest problems.
I admit I can’t remember the actual physics behind that claim. Whether it was just too much drag or just a retreating blade issue.
I’ll have to look it up, or maybe someone here knows?
Kindly asking… are you serious? Just have a look on our Comet EVO project… this is a very nice Comet stock setup… believe me there are many many things to custom develop to compete with speed prototypes…
Your comet is very fast! And yes, I am serious, I am going for that record. Of course, it will be changed quite a bit and already in the works of making my own fuselage as well as my own mechanics.

@@dtorazza it’s definitely new for me in the Helicopter side but speed is not new to me with airplanes but I know it’s a definitely a whole different ball game,
What ESC and Motor, pinion, pulley, blades you looking to use to break the current record? I'm sure its possible but it will be difficult to achieve, there were some very sophisticated enginerring in the diablo body wise, aerodynamic weight. also in the TDR speed, very capable machines tweaked to the max, I have faith in you guys so tell us how your going to beat the 311 kph set by the diablo speed, very interested in this project so tell us more?
Motor is being custom made, ESC will be a YGE 255 on 16s, can’t say on the pulley yet because I don’t know.blades will be Xblade 715s. The Diablo is an incredible model. And definitely weighs less than the comet. I have a few ideas for a body on the comet if this one doesn’t do it. There is already a Comet well over 311kph it’s just not an official number. I’m sure it won’t be easy, if it was, everybody would do it. Lol but I like the challenge! I have gone very fast with her appointment so now it’s time to try it with helicopters!

Sorry if I this was explained, but what device(s) will you use to measure it's speed?
So no I did not explain that. So I will use two ways of GPS I’m bored to get me a very close speed number. When I go for the official record, it is a 200 m course and it is a timing system from one pylon to the next pylon with a 200m space..

No, unfortunately it’s not available. It’s been discontinued for a long time now.
