- Despite Tom Brady not mentioning the New England Patriots in his initial retirement post, Bill Belichick posted his own statement applauding TB12, calling him the 'best player in NFL history.' Brady then reposted that quote on his own Instagram with the reply: 'Thank you, Coach Belichick. I appreciate being coached by you, the greatest coach in NFL history.' Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe rate how much the former duo truly love each other on a scale of 1-10.

He retired in his prime at 44, that's crazy
LeBron gonna be the same way tbh. I don’t see him losing any of his ability, he’s just gonna be this good until he hangs em up. GOAT 🐐 shxt..
@@SwagMaster824 Definitely Brady and Bron are the goats. I think bron is going to try to play one game either with or against his son then call it
@@ryant2412 nah Brady or Bron won't come close to MJ Brady had the success LeBron had the popularity but MJ had everything

Brady gave a heartfelt thank you to us - the Patriots fans - and the organization when he left. What is he supposed to do? Repeat all of that all over again? Let it go. I'm not offended in the least that he didn't mention us. HE DID THAT ALREADY 2 YEARS AGO.
Facts idk why so many other Pats fans have already forgotten that
He mentioned us, not initial post but after so I’m with you, I never believed Bill and Tom hated each other or believed all that hype. They talked for over half hour after we played them
If Brady has another speach to the organization & fans he's saving it for his return to gillette stadium sometime in the future to have his Jersey retired or have a banner hung in gillette
Had to reply so this wouldn’t become a 28:3 like to comment ratio.
and he will gonna have more speeches in the future when he will talk about everything....they probably retire his jersey and sign him as a patriot for a day ect
Skip has more of a grudge against belichick than Brady does😂
I doubt Brady has ANY grudge will bill lol. They won MANY Superbowls together. Then Tom got paid a CRAZY amount from Tampa & continued to play at an insane level.. it's just business
@@mikefrost5481 yeah no Shannon explained it perfectly and we all know the history the last couple years in New England
@@mikefrost5481 yeah grudge is not the right word more like under appreciation but got paid tons? Man Brady got paid the salary they paid top 10-20 qb type salary most his career but he did that himself but Tampa pay around same as what he had at New England
That’s not true, Tom just keeps it classy. You know he’s really hurt behind that
@@mikefrost5481 if you think Tom isn’t that upset that he was forced to play somewhere else, other than playing for someone he considers a father figure (Robert Kraft) you’re delusional
Would have been great to see Brady play 1 more year because he was still playing at the highest level. Tom Brady deserved to be celebrated the way the legendary Kobe Bryant was.
Not everyone wants a farewell tour, i hate that he left but if there was ever a way to go out on top that didn’t include winning it all, he did it.
Brady needed a stack wr core like the bucs had
@@Iniquityslasher and that's how we know you don't watch football.
@@Iniquityslasher guys like Burkhead and Amendola and Michel, who got him touchdowns in his recent superbowls. All star players and pro bowlers, right? Oh, that's right, none of them were. You quickly need to switch to the "but his defenses" excuse, mr. hater.
@@rsoe9158 no thats what all the tom brady fan boys said
Without a doubt in my mind belichick sabotaged brady/ kraft from winning after kraft stepped in and shut down trading brady/ releasing him. After that point he really didn't give brady any weapons. Then he was trying to push gronk out. He didn't allow bradys trainer around the team. Then he benched their best defensive player in the superbowl. And the eagles scored 41 points on that defense. In the last 2 seasons or so in new England belichick really depleted bradys weapons on offense. Belichick in my opinion wanted to stick it to brady and kraft and he did. Once he kicked brady out what happened?? He spent a record amount of money on free agents. Because now that brady was gone he wanted to win a superbowl because he would get the recognition and people would say belichick is the reason they won and not brady.
Well said
Been saying this for years bro everything u said is spot on
Jeremy Solis Yup I'm not a fan of either one but it was real dirty how he went hog wild on free agency spending when Brady left. Everyone always said what a genius he was to not spend in free agency but like you said more to sabotage and not help Brady out.
Belichick is a damn snake lol. You can see how spiteful he is. Kraft made a huge mistake. He should of stayed with brady. Because brady is the person that brought people to the Patriots, and kept them there. So many people love brady for who he is and obviously because what he has done. No fans watch or come to see belichick lol. But in my opinion kraft figured he could win more because it was likely that belichick could coach longer then brady could play quarterback. Kraft chose the snake over the quarterback who won him 6 rings and put him on the map as the number 1 franchise. Brady also did all of this while taking a big paycut. Then brady gets kicked out. I dont blame brady if he doesn't ever talk about kraft/ the Patriot franchise in a positive way or just align himself with them. Not show up to the stadium/ not participate in team events etc. Also if kraft would of chose brady over belichick and told him to kick rocks after he tried to replace brady with Jimmy g and actually put talent around brady they would of won at least 2 more rings from that time to now. Brady would have 8+ rings
New England's dynasties are more Brady than Belicheck all day!!
Tom Brady and Belichick are probably sitting back laughing at the media 😂 😂
Exactly!!
Drake and Kanye of the NFL
They worked together for 20 years, think about working with the same person for that long without getting sick of eachother.
For real, enjoying the foolishness from all them
Bill knew exactly what made Brady tick. How to motivate him.
The Maxwell song!!!! Lol 😂😂😂 you killed it with that line! LET IT GO!, Shannon Sharpe is the best guy in sports shows
AND we knew which song he was talking about. 🤣😂😅
Lol... It was a Maxwell cover, but it's all good
@suzanne molina STARBABY thanks for digging my comment
Shannon and skip have had a string of exceptional shows this week
Of all the things bill has said over the years, this is the one that SHOCKED me the most. Best player and not best QB. I honestly didn't think bill would put anyone above LT. First time I've heard him say it either. Always best QB and now best player.
He doesn’t at all believe that.
LT didn't get him 6 rings and make him look like the greatest coach of all time either. Bill knows what Brady did for him and his legacy
Cuz he seen montana at his best and frankly brady won the most but the best? Thatll always be montana like the nba is always gonna be mike opinions all day but those guys with no losses mj 6-0 montana no losses in the super bowl? Sorry it's really no contest
@@hexagonoctogon3140 What a stupid argument! Montana never lost in the Super Bowl - nah, he lost BEFORE getting to the Super Bowl! Would you rather go to 10 and win 7 or go to 4 and win 4? Pretty sure 7 > 4. Pretty sure 10 > 4. How is it better to lose in the divisional or conference round rather than make it to the Super Bowl and lose?
@@hexagonoctogon3140 if I was to pick a QB to start a superbowl, sure I would take Montana. But he clearly isn't better than brady as a whole lol just look at the personal statistics and then the team achievements. It's not that close. Brady has him beat in every category.
Shannon: "Tom petty and not the original Tom petty" 😂😂
The media loves to make things more than what it is. Brady thanked us when he left New England, bill and Tom have always had nothing but praise and respect for one another. The reason the had such a great career is because they where boss and employee they had a job to do if it got personal it could affect play on the field.
I agree. Bill believes that Tom is the best ever.
You a damn fool if you don’t think at some point, they damn near hates each other. If I work for a company for a long time, and the Vice President tells me “hey, we’re gonna move on and replace you”, and then I go to the President of the company and he says “we’re keeping you”, I know for a fact my relationship with the Vice President will suffer.
I’m pretty sure they respect each other, doesn’t mean they have to love each other or be all father-son like other coaches & players.
Name 2 their is none of that in the league
We get that they dont “have” to love each other but its like shanon said were men but we still got feelings. Makes you feel like damn 20 amazing years aint mean nothing to you? It would kinda be kinda hard
Another few of Bradys amazing accomplishments is getting to the Conference Championship game 14 Times, 18 Divisions Titles, 15 Pro Bowl Selections, TD Leader 5 Times, 67 Career Game winning drives. ALL RECORDS. Another one is MVP Runner-up 5 times. 8 times in top 2 MVP Voting is pretty good.
Tom Brady its been an amazing road watching you play since i was 12 years old and in a big pats fan but it was a pleasure to watch you out on that field for so many years you had one amazing career your one of the best QB in football history you are the Michael Jordan of football and i hope the knowledge and passion you have for the game you can bring to up comeing QBs i hope you enjoy retirement and liveing the good dad life and thank you for you leadership and performance
Its amazing how Skip brings up the same examples regarding Brady and Belichick (the stitches on Brady’s hand, deflategate, Malcom Butler, etc.) day after day yet we still tune in to watch day after day.
It’s relevant and they have new viewers daily I bet and it makes sense to inform them idk lol. I totally agree tho 😂
Don’t forget Cowboys and Lebron... I wonder who will replace Brady on the daily topics😳😳😳😳
Most of us tune in for Shannon, not Skip
Shannon’s perspective as a previous player, champion, leader, and current HOFer combined with his natural charisma and demeanor is so valuable and entertaining.
He will never admit to himself that tom has more rings than he will ever have
"I cant let you get close." -Chael Bellicheck
Funnily enough with Shannon’s analogy about the college mindset, the very best college coaches, a la Nick Saban, have very good relationships with their best players. Saban only ever talks lovingly about his current and former guys.
We all know who Belichick thinks the best football player is. He always said LT is the greatest player he ever seen but he had to give Brady his props because it’s a sign of respect.
He coached the best OFF and DEF of all time making it a hard decision too
Nah he spoke his true feelings. He saw it with his own eyes, Brady is the greatest player ever and it's respect to speak the truth when it's all set and done
And we know he just said it : brady.
@@evergreatest7789look how he talk about LT. he even said it few years ago when asked and he said LT the greatest player he ever coached. Lmk if you need the link
Yea this is true but Brady was still playing .. Belicheck is the Type of coach to downplay all of your success. He’s done and all of both of their careers because he doesn’t like for his players to get too big headed. And even when Tom went to Tampa he was still playing so Belichick Most likely did not want to call him the greatest since he would have to be playing against him.
Joe Montana spoke on Bill Walsh’s funeral and choked up. He definitely loved Walsh.
Agreed
I'm sure Brady would rather 6 rings over a loving relationship
Tom proved he still had it with the improbable Super Bowl win in Tampa Bay…Bill was wrong but he wasn’t wrong for thinking of the future.
Bill wasn't wrong at all. There was no chance Tom takes the patriots to a Superbowl in the last 2 years. With gronk coming out of retirement, AB joining the bucs and that defence is what helped Brady get his last SB win.
2024 miss this duo watched every single day skip and Shannon are not the say without each other maybe just maybe one day they’ll reunite hopefully not to late!!🤞🏾
Best career ever as a QB . Hard to judge individual positions
Best player of all time. Counting all positions. You must be a jets fan
OK than MJ had the best career as shooting guard and small forward. Gretz had best career as a centre. You are avoiding the elephant in the room.
he was the best qb and the most important position is qb so..
Most successful Qb for sure
best player and best career are different, take lebron vs Jordan, Jordan was greater, greater career, greater legacy but realistically Lebron is a more skilled player than Jordan, Brady is the greatest qb, had the greatest career of anyone, but do we really think he had the best arm in football? doubt it
Great insights from Shannon
Ultimate compliment by bb I bet Brady is happy to hear that
At 11:55ish glad uncle Shannon brought up 11-5 season in 2002 with Matt Cassel, great point
Shannon " I love pettiness" 😂😂
Bill once cut a player on the night before the superbowl, trust me the dude is cold as ice genius
Shannon and skip must have forgotten that Tom had already thanked the Patriots organization Belichick and the fans two years ago when he left.
AND also last year when the Bucs played the Pats. He spoke endlessly about them.
It's pretty easy to understand the thought process of not getting close to players when you have to judge when they are done. That can get messy for sure. I think the thing about this situation specifically; you're talking about far and away the best player in the history of the game. After the Atlanta Falcons SB it should have been set in stone. This guy earned the right to be an exception and he needs to retire only having played for or known one team.
Players like MJ, Brady or Gretzky are not like other players. They earned the right to be held on a different level. As great as Bill Belichick is or was he never could do or coached anyone who could do what Brady did. Similarly Phil Jackson with MJ. The difference is Phil understood that. Phil showed deference to MJ because he knew exactly who and what he was. Bill's behavior can only be interpreted as disrespect because that is exactly what it was.
As a football fan it's crazy to think about so much turmoil in a winning dynasty for 20 years between 1 head coach and 1 QB the entire time. I wonder how much we don't know behind the scenes. It will be a great movie one day I look forward to watch lol
Yall notice the coaches who had great relationships with QBs have 1, or 2 rings while Bellichick and TB12 had 6? Mayne Bellichick was right to keep the relationship that way. 🤷🏽♂️
Technically, it was that arms-length relationship that would have ended their partnership earlier. Remember, Belichick tried to get rid of Tom before the last SB they won together. It was the EMOTIONAL connection between TB and Kraft that allowed them to win that last championship.
Nah cause if belichick had it completely his way, he would’ve traded Tom after they had only won 4 rings
@@thaanonymous776 the last 2. Bill was trying to get rid of him before 5 and 6.
Shannon must be so freaking happy that he doesn't need to dump on Brady anymore and can just praise, praise, praise!!!
Go Shannon, your snickering is contagious!
Whenever deflategate is brought up, it’s never mentioned how the colts had deflated balls aswell with even more that was so
Because there was no actual deflation. Cold weather makes pressure go down. Everyone in the NFL forgot physics/chemistry for a year.
Ideal Gas Law debunked and destroyed allegations of Deflategate
Lambardy show respect and gave credit to his players.
Skip will remembered with GOAT 🐐 Tom Brady forever and ever ❤️🏈🙏🏻
The media wants an issue with them two
They call each other GOATs and the media is like WHY DO THEY HATE EACH OTHER SO MUCH THO?!?!?!
@@str8harry exactly!!💯💯💯💯
That maxwell reference tho! Great song!
Thank you Tom! Goat is finally out to pasture.
Wow Shannon what a great comparison using a Maxwell song and that’s actually one of my favorite songs. 🔥 🔥 🔥
They absolutely respect each other. No question. The relationship did get strained when he started looking at Jimmy over Tom. When he went to Kraft asking about forcing Bill to trade his replacement, this bothered him that went over his head. This drove Tom to be his best to prove to Bill who he is. Bill wanted to show everyone that he runs the team, not Tom. In the end, it worked out winning with each and apart.
Good take by Skip on deflategate. BB threw Tommy under the bus on that one.
It's a case to say, "Only time will tell."
Greatest player ever, best player ever
TOM RESPONDED THAT WAY BC MAYBE HE DIDN'T WANT HIS RETIREMENT TO CAUSE MORE DRAMA.
The Greatest of all Toms. 🐐
You would think people would know by now, Brady playing chess, y’all playing checkers. 👑
Love the mini tom petty conversation lol
The chip that Tom Brady has on his shoulder helped to make him the greatest of all time on the football field. Now we will find out if that chip serves him as well in retirement. Maybe he will naturally select endeavors where it still helps. I hope so, because watching him has certainly given me a lot of joy.
Now that Tom is retired, I will miss Shannon being corrected by Skip every time Brady did something awesome, which was every week. I'll miss the GOAT. I'll miss those thrilling 20-sec ending games with so much emotion, my kids jumping around, covering their eyes, truly excited about the outcome. The last game that he played, I will never forget. It was a bad defensive play decision. More patience would have made a big difference, but "no risk no biscuit"...
I remember when Mahomes won his first Super Bowl and hugged Andy Reid and also said “this is for you”... I have not seen Brady did that to Bellichick and it showed that they didn’t have a healthy relationship and it’s sad for Bellichick. I mean just cuz you lost to the Jets, you want to bicker with Brady on the field at the beginning of the 2011 season.
Shannon using Maxwell's "This Woman's Work" lyrics to make a point? Chef's kiss!
I’m no patriot fan broncos all the way but the way bellicheck that’s the qb like any other player is why they stay so good because the whole team knows that nobody is above criticism and makes everyone respect him
I think it's a smart move by coach belichick to keep players at arms length because its creates respect and respect produces more productivity. There is a reason hes a head coach for a long time
@foreal69 its debatable
The greatest Head coach-QB ever
Tom doesn't owe them anything he gave them 20 years and 6 SBC's 10 SBapps and they said goodbye to him.
"Counterfeit Bill" 😂😂
I see their relationship ship now as the way Bill belichek and Bill Parcels relationship is
You two have no idea what their relationship is like. Only Bill and Tom know.
Why tom brady 3 to 28 comeback isnt the most amazing thing ever and im a pats fan that was easily the most excited i ever was in life in general
Uncle Shay Out Here Quoting “This Woman’s Work” 😂💀😂💀
It's actually extremely high praise coming from Bill. He had Lawrence Taylor in New York, and to say too was the best player ever, he definitely meant exactly that!!
Nah the info is right but the conclusion is wrong. Tom is not stupid. He knows damn well that without Belichick the patriots dynasty does not exist in the same way. The way Bill treated Tom and the way Tom embodied Bills vision for a football team helped the entire roster to accept their roles and practice/perform at the highest level. They spent 20 years together. 20 years of great coaching, great QB play, and great culture/system consistency.
People are reaching for stuff. I'm sure brady and bill respect each other and like each other. People are trying to make it seem like they hate each other
They both are hyper competitive and probably hate each other's guts
2:36 Shannon got me listening to This woman's work
Guys, this sports. Friendship are for players, not for the staff and players. Because the staff has to manage that team optimally and efficiently regardless of feelings and emotions!
It was very disrespectful too Tom!! The GOAT 🐐
Like in Jerry Maguire… “Why can’t we have that kind relationship?” Bill tries to hug and Tom pushes him off.
Brady owes so much of his success to belichick. Anyone who doesnt think so is blind.
Flores contends that Belichick had more than inside information. Flores contends that Belichick actually influenced New York’s decision to hire Daboll.
The G.O.A.T.
If Bill had kept Jimmy G he would never have won another SB.
I believe Bill Belichicks "Best Player in NFL history" comment..... Is a HUGE validation for the Goat Tom Brady.... Regardless of whatever love or personal feelings exist toward each other.... Because for 20 years Bill Belichick was a Football Father figure to him... And for 22 years this Father figure never gave him the validation he deserved.... So I believe this exchange of respect was very big moment.... Justice has finally been served.... He finally received the Highest Compliment (which he well deserved) from his Football father figure... The fact that Tom Brady responded calling Bill Belichick the greatest coach ever along with 3 heart emoji's.... is Toms way to authentically show that it really means something to him. Will they ever be friends? I dont know... but this moment was a Great exchange of mutual respect... and neither one will ever forget it
( You don't know what you got till it's gone ) Is all I can say.
Belichick is a defensive coach and his favourite player ever is LT. He said before that Brady is the best offensive player in NFL history and LT is the best defensive player. If he’s saying Brady is the best overall then he means it. But he obviously preferred LT, and it’s perfectly understandable why he did
I find it funny how Skip pays so much attention to Tom Brady on social media but didn't see that Tom also mentioned the Patriot organization/fanbase not even a few hours later.
They keep trying to create this on-going rift that's been filled already. They have the utmost respect for each other as a player and as a person. He might even call Tom now to see his perspective on certain teams because that's how they were before Tom left us.
Bill “Uncle Chael” Belichick: “I can’t let you get close.”
I think there is a bigger question here. Is it necessary to create trust in a relationship where both parties are focused on the same goal? How much will trust add to the mission or take away from it? Because trust is foundational in everything we do as a society. It's inside our families when we choose partners, in the economy and the purchase choices we make, and defines our future through the votes we cast on whose worthy. Trust plays a part on all those things.
Brady should’ve been able to retire on his own terms in New England for everything he’s done for them as far as I’m concerned Belichick forced him out
I’m confident the real truth will come to light sometime within the next decade
From what I've read, TB12 told his friends about his perceived lack of support from Kraft and Bellichick during Deflategate...i believe this was the beginning of the end for TB12 in New England...it had to have been obvious to TB12 that Bellichick was deliberately sabotaging his own QB using TEAM as an excuse in the belief it was time for TB12 to retire & because of his jealousy of Brady's influence on Kraft and the team...
Only the haters will deny TB12 is the greatest ever!!!!
Brady will always be a patriot. Simple as that
TB12 GOAT
Buddy buddy chummy chummy 😂😂
I love bill … and encourage skip to have broader perspective … he’s a beast … intelligent, hard working, and all about TEAM
Skip is a sick, sick man.
still can’t believe giselle forced him to retire
soccer in England a manager was on the phone (football show). His ex player is in media. He asked, I played real bad, why didn't you drop me. Martin O'Neal replied cos I liked you and I didn't want to make you feel bad.
I respect Bill for being the way that he is. He is a professional. Its never personal for him. He is right for treating QBs the same as everybody else. No special privileges for anybody. Now given the QBs TB competed against like Rodgers and Brees I feel like Bill would have been successful with those, not a new one per sé.
You don't have to be mushy mushy with your QB to win games and super bowls just have respect and love for him
Yea but Bill would berate Tom over the smallest thing to get the team to walk a straight line.
Belichick was desperate last year and in 2021 he spends $159 Million in Free Agent Spending Spree in hopes he can buy a championship team. In his hay days Bill wanted players to pay him for the privilege to be a NE Patriot. Bill will never regain his previous success as a coach. Belichick benefited for 20 years in spite of his narcissistic coaching style.
When Belichick pushed Brady out of New England and he lost all the football intangibles that came with having the goat. The Patriots 47-17 loss to the Bills in the playoffs is unprecedented. Belichick’s defense had no answers. Belichick’s narcissist coaching style will be his demise without a goat player to hold it all together.
Belichick needs to retire or he will expose that fact that Tom Brady was the key to all of NE success and Belichick was along for the ride too bad too sad.
Bill should be humbled....Brady doesn't leave he plays until 50 most likely and they both get at least 3 more rings....never the less Tom proved he was the factor (rhetorical).
No love lost between Bill and Tom.
Tom Brady is the greatest player in NFL history
Brady and Belichick will go down legendary. Who cares about the arch nemesis remarks and all that. You can’t take away the titles from neither
