  • Just a week after announcing he’s stepping away from football, Tom Brady has left the door open for a potential comeback. On his weekly podcast, the 44-year-old GOAT said quote: 'never say never' when asked if he could return to football, adding 'I feel very good about my decision. [but] I don't know how I'll feel six months from now.' Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe discuss the chances he plays next season on a scale of 1-10.

He still has the itch. He was on vacation with his family unwinding. It was easy to be like I never want to this vacation to end. I could do this the rest of my life. Then he gets him and reality hits. Media circus probably games and super bowl. He is seing other guys out on the field. Not saying he is coming back but could see why he said never say never because the itch is still there. He is a competitor and sitting on the sidelines is going to be tough.

I was honestly surprised by Tom's announcement, especially with respect to the reasons given. Realistically, even if he had 5 more seasons left in him (and that's probably stretching it), it's only 5 more years. He would have the next 30-40 years to spend his retirement dedicating time to family and building his companies...all at the young age of 50. How many other dads out there are working 60-80+ hours a week, 48-50 weeks out of the year until age 60, 65 or 70? Contrastingly, Tom spends maybe a little more than half a year completely devoted to football and then the rest of the time he's more or less at home. Those other dads probably end up spending less overall time with their kids than Tom does with his. Also, is he planning on spending all 16 waking hours with his kids? It doesn't sound that way. How can you be involved in a senior leadership position at all these companies and do that? Simple, you can't. Unless there's a domestic issue, like something medical, with his wife or children, the rationale doesn't necessarily hold water. The window of opportunity for him to do something that is so extraordinary and exceptional won't be open comparatively that much longer. Why would anyone squander that when not legitimately forced to for a truly meaningful and logical reason? I think this was a way to safely and non-controversially open the exit door on Tampa Bay, knowing the roster challenges for next year and perhaps his perspective on the coaching culture there.

The thing is, kids grow, and they grow fast. Though they will always need a father, its different as they become teenagers and eventually young adults. That said, coming back for one more season is doable, and I think he should do it or he'll have regrets that he retired before he was ready.

That fire in Brady will never go out, thats why he's the GOAT and the greatest competitor and most driven player in NFL History. He left leading the league in Yards, TD's and Completions with 13 Wins all at 44 Years old. Thats as close to going out on Top apart from winning a SB as you can get. He's letting everybody know that hes the best and could play another 3 years as a 47 year old. Enjoy retirement Tom.

We will find out how much Brady was pushed out or went out on his own this preseason...At that time, he will be fully healed up, people won't be sharing memories of him on social media anymore, he won't be the topic of every single sports show, and there will be no more high from 50k+ fans screaming the second he takes the field...Preseason is where he will really "feel" retirement. He's going to watch 28 starters secure their jobs playing at about 75% of what he can do and he's gonna want to scratch that competitive itch...There are multiple SB ready teams that are not set on their QBs and would definitely do whatever it takes to get Brady's contract from Tampa. - Retirement papers are not in to the league and he said he's taking 6 months to think about it.
