      toyota still fights for real drivers cars; but, it will be getting harder and harder with all the EV push. If we want this type of vehicles, we need to show our support by keep buying them and keep asking for them; as long as there is a market, toyota will figure it out; if there will not be a market, they will stop as well.
      So, buy that gr86, that future mr2, that future celica, that gr corolla, that fabulously epic gr yaris and even the supra; buy them manual to tell them we still like and enjoy real driving.

Then Just monitor oil temps and pressure through your day.

    IMO: the car is near perfect, the only issues is the oil pan and RTV. I don’t understand why “car guys” want more power. If you want more power, get a more expensive car then. Don’t expect to only pay $30k for a 600hp+ car. It’s a SPORTS car not a SUPER car

      I get what you're saying, and it might not be the case for you and there's nothing wrong with that, but there is an entire culture built on taking factory cars and "tuning" them. Lots of people like to take cars and modify them to do all sorts of things they weren't originally designed to do. In some cases it's modifying the car to drift. In other cases it's to climb mountains, or crawl over boulders, or to look a certain way, or to bounce up and down until the suspension breaks, or to pull things, or to crash it into other cars as many times as possible until your car is the only car still running, and yes, part of a lot of achieving a lot of those things may include making the car produce more power to do what you want to do with it. For those people, experimenting with and modifying the car is half the fun in and of itself. For someone who isn't into that, sure, it makes sense to say "just go buy a more expensive car that already has more power" but that's not everyone.
      Often, it's also a form of self-expression using the car, the same way an oil painting is a form of self-expression for an artist. If you aren't an artist, putting all that effort into painting a landscape might seem silly when you can just take a picture of it with your iPhone, but there's more to it for the artist than just capturing the image. It isn't about taking in the image, it's about putting out the image of what the artist sees so that others can see it the way the artist sees it.
      Modifying a car to have more power isn't just about having a car with more power. It's about seeing what you can do with THAT car if it had more power, and combining that with any number of other modifications, in order to take something that anyone can just buy off the lot, and using those combinations of things to make it into something unique and special- a vision of a car the way THEY see it, and which can't simply be bought off a lot anywhere.

    • @eugenux
      @eugenux Před měsícem

      @@fat420crackerppl keep saying that but it would be strange to have the *exact* same engine in 5 different vehicles(GR corolla, GR Yaris, future MR2, future celica(if it gets the go ahead) and next gen '86); for me, it looks like to many of the same, even though celica would be fwd and awd, mr2 would be rwd;
      for me, it all makes sense if they give up on the GR yaris and produce on the same platform the celica(wrc?!) but, at the same(-ish) price point and have the MR2 as a cayman competitor(aka, cheapest mid-engine sports car); they would need to leave the next gen gr86 n/a as it has little to zero sense to have an mr2 and a gr86 with the same engine but different engine position;
      in my opinion, the best platform segmentation would be:
      - put this engine in next gen corolla GR and make it a fastback or a liftback sedan(or a hothatch for that matter) - AWD family performance
      - change the body design of the GR yaris and transform it in a GR celica(hatchback-o-coupe like in the late 80s, early 90s) - AWD wrc for the road
      - mid engined MR2 - RWD real sports car at base cayman price point
      - front engined GR86 - RWD real sports car for the regular Joe;
      the problem with the GR86 is that they cannot go beyond a price point..as then they will compete themselves with themselves..which would do them a disservice; sure, more options for us but not a thing that's good for business for a car manufacturer. Future will tell but I really do hope for a mild hybrid, rwd, manual, light, small gr86 at 35k...as 40-50k would be the future GR corolla and celica, while the MR2 would be at around 65-70k; too much, if you ask me, as they have the 6cl supra to fit in in the 60k+ sports car category.(they should also drop the 2.0 supra, as that is just a waste of car material)
      cheers!

    In Japan there were two models called Trueno/Lightning and Levin/Thunder.
    Levin had the regular headlights.
    I think the break was around 85-86 that there was a facelift and the early are Zenki and the latter are Kouki.
    Here in America we got the Trueno based GT-S with the pop-up lights and 4age and the SR5 with a single cam.
    We also had either the coupe or the hatchback.

Would've improved proportions and tire choices for high performance stuff, particularly in the drag scene and true track slicks since the minimum for both is around is 26"

    Honestly if Toyota put the v6 the Camry has, in the gt86 and threw a supercharger on, it would rival the lotus evora. I mean that literally what the lotus has… same engine the Camry uses with a supercharger strapped to it. Although lotus did there thang to it.. If they did such thing to the gt86 then there would have been no Supra or they would have had no choice but to produce the Supra in a high class than gt and ss territory. Toyotas supercharged v6 is fantastic aka Lotus Evora.. Toyota company are cheap. They also wanted to keep the car affordable to everyday people..

    The lineage is actually AE-86 Corolla->IS200 Altezza->ZN6 GT86. It's just too bad they never did an IS coupe. AE86 engineer, Nobuaki Katayama set out to design the SXE10 Altezza to be a more upscale successor to the Sprinter Trueno for the now older, and slightly wealthier buyers that were fans of the original. Using the parts bin as before he put together a car that used parts of other Toyota cars to create another balanced FR sedan chassis with a high revving 4 cylinder and 6 speed transmission.

    • @peterparker3668
      @peterparker3668 Před měsícem

      The lineage as declared by TOYOTA goes AE86->ZN6->ZN8. Again, just bc he wanted to make a spiritual successor does not mean it’s part of the 86 heritage. God you are so naive and stubborn. Keep coping buddy 👍🏻

    He kept mentioning Supra! The Supra is no different than the '86' in that Toyota designed the exterior and some of the interior and suspension but none of the drivetrain ( engine & tranny ) BMW & ZF. And the 86 designed by Toyota, the engine is a Subaru WRX unit and the tranny is an AISIN copy made inhouse by Toyota. So neither are pure Toyotas ..LOL

      Disagree (you sound just like the people that tell me if I put a Honda K-series in my Lotus Elise it will be rear heavy when an actual fact, the K series and the 2RZ are only a few kilos difference and it handles better with series in it anyway, with the additional ability to get significant power gains)
      All ally v6 and back slightly weight difference marginal
      Better than the many jz swaps
      The Toyota v6 comes I’m multiple iterations including the ones used in the lotus’s and Lexus
      Not to mention that the Toyota V6 is a far more reliable and has significantly more tuner products available
      And have you ever driven an original 86 with the castiron 4age in it that’s precisely why it was so good at drifting
