I'm laughing with you not at you about the crushed bucket of gear oil. The smell of that stuff once it makes it past my elbow usually makes me homicidal🤷 Just bought another TJ and it came with a spartan in the box, thanks for the heads up on what to expect👍 Any long term info after installing this a yr ago? I realize it's just another potato locker and they can be hot or miss for a front axel application
Id like to know the same - I also have an 04 LJ. I'm thinking a lunchbox locker up front shouldn't affect anything in 2wd at all, but then again I drive like 99.99% of my time on road and .01% on rough trails...
As long as you put the carrier back in with the shims in the exact same place there is no need to measure backlash since ring and pinion engagement wont change at all

At 14:50 you say "I hope it locks up when it needs to be." You don't seem to understand. It's always locked unless turning, when it temporarily unlocks.
Yes I am aware of how the locker/ratcheting action works lol. However there is always the wildcard of installer error.......FYI, it has worked fine so far and a lot quieter on the street then previous lockers I have had.

When you have it up front, does it handle any differently while on road in 2wd?

About to put one on my 2003 tj did you have to measure the back lash when you put it back

Why did you remove the ring gear
In a dana 30 with 488s the ring gear is too thick to get the crosspin out without removing the ring gear.
