  • What is up, my watch friends?!? So, check this out… today we’re gonna take a look at the Casio G-Shock GMWB5000TB-1. And if that’s a mouthful, you can just call it by its nickname: “Stealth Wealth.” I’ll talk a little about the specs, bracelet, and color… but mostly I want to share with you my experience with this watch (and why it actually surprised me).

    I finally pull the trigger on it and wow I can't take it from my wrist!!! The finish is unique, no other black metal square has this matte finish. The way the black color kind of looks different under different light is very cool. Freaking love this piece. ❤

    The 3459 module is killer. I have the Full Metal Square on a SS bracelet, and love it. I have not owned a negative display I can tolerate. For now, yhe full metal has scratched my itch!

    @lance7607 Před měsícem

    I've owned this for some years now and it's the most comfortable watch I've ever worn. I think part of the reason for this is the DLC coating--it's very low friction and so the watch and bracelet feel almost as if they're floating on the skin. This watch has been through quite a bit and still does not have the slightest scratch on it.

    Most of the metal G-Shocks should have mineral glass. "Scratch but don't shatter" is the entire G-Shock philosophy.

    I have this one in my square collection. It's beyond expectations and can be had on secondary for around 1k USD (if lucky). The gold accents, the positive display are on point when combined with the titanium. In my experience, I've owed and sold the blue camo, I like this plain better and it gets a ton of wrist time. I will say this one is harder to find than either camo. Great content as always.

      Thanks so much! And, your experience with these sounds very similar to my friend's experience, where he prefers this one. And yes, the positive display and gold accents are on point. I was really shocked by how much I ended up enjoying this one. Now, I can totally see why so many people love it.

    Love that titanium square. Price is bonkers for what you get, terrible value but still on the want list. If I ever come across a LNIB unit around the $1500 CDN range within driving distance I don’t think I would be able to resist. Thankfully that price point is a pipe dream as they are all well north of $2k CDN.

      Yeah, they are way overpriced. But, they are fantastic watches. Kinda wish they were less expensive though.

    I am a big believer in stealth wealth in this new era post-pandemic era of ours but I am more inclined towards the ana-digital displays. On the low end, I have a G-Steel and my next bigger watch acquisition is likely to be an MRG-G1000B in titanium. I used to wear precious metal watches while traveling but those days are gone. My new paradigm for travel watches is (1) under the radar; and (2) not hurtful if stolen or given up to a mugger. I already have three G-Shocks (two ana-digis and one digital Full Metal Square) and there will be more.

    • @HorologyinSanity
      @HorologyinSanity  Před 3 lety +1

      I take a similar approach. I don't travel now like I used to, but I usually wear my Casio AE1200 (and I pack a backup AE1200 just in case). But, they're fantastic and so useful!

    • @raksh9
      @raksh9 Před rokem

      When I'm travelling again, the plan is to wear my GMWB5000 in blue with black resin strap, or try to find the version with black steel bezel, positive display and resin strap.

    Honestly I would wear this watch everyday if I had one. It’s outside my price range at the moment but it’s certainly on my radar should I stumble across a good deal for one.

    • @HorologyinSanity
      @HorologyinSanity  Před 3 lety +1

      I know several people that wear this as their daily watch, and they all LOVE it. I was shocked by how much I ended up enjoying it. But, I think they're WAY overpriced at MSRP, and even slightly overpriced still at secondary market value. Interestingly, the price is the only real "con" or negative thing I can think about when it comes to these titanium G squares though, which I think says a lot.

      @InSpades0 Před 3 lety

      @@HorologyinSanity i currently have the burgundy square on lay away. And after that i think im just gonna look into the new U square models for a proper everyday watch and then down the line get a tissot prx. I think thatll ease my watch itch for quite a while lol. Until another gshock is announced and ill have to scratch all over again

    Great watch, but you can get mechanical watches with Sapphire Crystals for as low as $300-500.
    I don't think sapphire should bring up the price to $1700. I would say a fair price for these watches are exactly what you paid or near it. $1000 Max and that's pushing it. It's the same Movement on a $150 watch, Titanium Bracelets and Sapphire crystal should not drag the price up to $1,700
    I have the Blue and Black Camouflage watches as well as the TVA Model. I also paid under 1k for each Camouflage "Used & Excellent Condition" with all of its original paper work, links, Case, etc.
    The TVA, that watch cost $1,485 because I couldn't find it any cheaper and online resellers were price gauging 🤦🏼‍♂️but at least I didn't pay taxes on it and it was brand new from a Watch Store over seas.
    I'm looking to purchase the TVB do you have any suggestions as to where I can find one at a decent price? Would appreciate it. Thanks 👍

    • @HorologyinSanity
      @HorologyinSanity  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah, that's true. And, I think the overall sentiment that "no one cares what watch you're wearing" is by-and-large true. Well, except for those thieves that mug people for their Rolex. But, I never have a worry or care about wearing my blue Camo one out and about.

      I take my black camo titanium on international travel on vacations and it is perfect. I wish I can buy the stealth wealth but it's discontinued and buying it on ebay is risky as some of those are fake.

    I like the watch but over £1000 no thanks. I get it's titanium but that's way too expensive. I'd rather buy a cool solar g shock or something with similar specs and get a metal bracelet and case mod kit. But that's just me. Nice work with the video nevertheless.

      You can pick up a beaten full metal square secondhand, and switch the bezel and bracelet for new aftermarket mods. Way less expensive and with all the functions of the titanium version.

    Sorry but it's hard to justify anything over 300$ for a quartz watch.
