As someone who has had a negative relationship with alcohol and is 200 days sober, I can say that it definitely catches up with you. Things you got away with in your 20’s, will hold you back in your 30’s and can have irreparable damage as you get older.

Those mid 90s Atlanta Hawks team with Blaylock Steve Smith & Mutombo was a pretty good team
That Nigga GHOST They were straight. Just didn't have a big time scorer. Steve Smith didn't have that it to me
@@stuntedgrowth right, he wasn't that explosive to me either. Steve Smith's game was more similar to Allen Houston's. Steve was more of a shooter.
Nice starting lineup but no bench aside from Alan Henderson . Laettner and Mutombo were solid up front and Corbin was there for defense
Yes Sirrrr
Smitty was a beast 🔥🔥🔥
One of the most underrated players in the 90s. Sad to see the turn his life took because of addiction.
I used to love Mookie Blaylock he was underrated he looked like Michael Jordan to me in a Point Guard’s body
It is always so tragic to see such great talent go to waste.
It kinda' makes you wonder, what demons was he running away from?
@@gorillasavagestrength8803 Facts. He also kind of looks like Trick Daddy circa 1999 minus the grill.

Shit! Shit!🤔😠🤔
He's one of my all-time favorites! When he was at OU, he ripped guards off the dribble! On the regular. Thank you for this video. It's tragic, but sometimes life IS tragic.
Edward Long That's a fact! His defense was creepy good. He'd rip dudes and slide right to the finger roll😅 That OU team was nice! And them boys looked fun to be around.
That's crazy. Wish I was old enough to witness those great OU teams. Seems unreal to think OU was that good at basketball and had all that star power at one point.
Too true unfortunately
Hello boss, until about a month ago I knew nothing about the NBA. But through videos like yours I'm getting familiarised and becoming a fan of the sport. Thanks for the videos, really enjoy your work.

Thanks for making this one, I remember him as a solid point guard in my youth and now, better than that after learning the game and watching this. Salute!
I forgot he was in so much trouble.
In some pictures he does look like MJ.
A solid NBA point guard though.
Florida Gator1 Crazy! In the games I would always ask myself am I trippin. Am I the only one that think he looks like a short MJ😅
From the same tribe
I always said he looked like a baby Jordan when he came to the league
Florida Gator 1 You nailed it, before I read your comment I thought that I was just kidding Myself when I was looking at some of His Pic & was thinking to Myself " You know He looks just like Michael Jordan". Then on the Pic that Jordan is Guarding Him & I scoped it out & I realized that Their Faces are The same except Michael Jordan in a lot Taller & The Front of Their Heads are The same but the back of their heads are different. Jordan has that Gary Peyton Hickey Hump on The back of His Head & Mookie got that Round Smooth Denver Bronco Mile High Stadium Backdrop Shaped Ass Head on The Back of His Head. Again You nailed it. I've also got some suspucious, check it out, both of their name starts with M's, Michael & Mookie, they both can ball , they both are the Stars of their Teams, they both like to play Golf, Same Shaped ass Head except the back is different, Mookie got that Smooth Round Handball shaped on the back of Head & Michael got that Camel shaped Digital Underground Humpty Hump, on the back of His Head. Well I bet somewhere down the line Them MF's is Brothers.
Funny I was thinking the same thing.
I was incarcerated with Mookie in Savannah, Ga. Personally he’s good people, prayers for him and his family and those who ended up suffering for his addiction and Choices. We all fall short. 🙏🏾 God Bless
Addiction is a disease, not a choice.
DIVISIONINCISION that’s a Fact, that’s why I stated addiction and choices. His addiction led him to continue to do what he was addicted too, his choices were made in an addicted mind frame forcing him to do the same things with the results getting worse. I can’t judge him, only can Stand on the outside looking in saying what I would or wouldn’t do in the situation. All in All that results in a form of Judgement. Then it’s who am I and how am I better than him. 🤷🏾♂️
I can learn from his mistakes and not repeat them myself. #Choices
Im 8yrs clean & sober and i CHOSE to drink & drug
#notadisease
@@DIVISIONINCISION choosing to do drugs or drink is a choice. If it leads to addiction the individual still made a chiice

I met a sister of his at a club once. She was just as messed up as he was. Was all cool till she got in my truck and started talking about kicking these girls'(who had known her and invited us to their house afterwards) ass for no reason. Ended up taking her to to her place that ended up being a halfway house and I left. Was a big fan of his and Stacey King, being an Oklahoman. I would argue with your assessment on Harvey Grant's impact on that Sooners team, but I'm just happy to see Mookie get some acknowledgement. Didn't even mention that Pearl Jam's first name was Mookie Blaylock. Thanks for the Video!!!

Mookie had mad game. I don’t think his problem was weed, his problem was alcohol. So sad to see where it led his life.
Is your opinion based on your dependency of weed?
@@33greenleaf No. Data. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Alcohol-Related Disease Impact (ARDI) application estimated that between 2006-2010 there were 7,756 homicides annually that were attributed to excessive alcohol use (i.e. victims had a BAC > 0.10%).
@@rickb2432 you said “Mookie’s problems”, then divert to one specific incident of his many problems?
This video was about his career shortcomings, financial troubles, and legal woes. It wasn’t solely about his guilt in a traffic homicide.

Walkers problem, hell, a lot of these guys tried to keep up with MJ gambling and such. MJ prints money, Antoine Walker? Not so much.

A lot of his money got stolen..mot the same as blew 📝
Antoine Walker also tried to help his Chicago neighborhood with his fortune. The gambling may have been a mistake. But the lifestyle puts these guys into insane peer pressure. MJ could at least finance his addiction with his income coming from all sorts of places. I think these guys try to escape from things by gambling. I can only imagine how much these guys get hounded. I feel for Walker at least. Others who blow their fortune, not really. I can at least respect Antoine Walker, the guy honestly tried to help people. Unfortunately, even wealth can't help everyone.
Agreed my friend; 'Toine helped so many in his family and had some bad investments too; When the money ran out, where were these people? Nowhere in sight...

I did not know all this has happened to Mookie Blaylock. I remember when he burst on the scene in the 80s playing for Oklahoma. I really like watching him play. I was a proud because he is a fellow Texan. I was a bit jealous because the Dallas area folks love to let folks like me from close to Houston know how many players from that area make it to the NBA. Dallas outshines Houston is that count.
II remember he played in some big games at Oklahoma, I think in the finals. I don't remember if they won it all or not. He got drafted by Atlanta and I forgot about him. I am not an ardent NBA fan. I keep up with my local team, the Rockets. Everything else I just catch mostly in the highlights. That is the is the reason I haven't kept up with Mookie. His life is spared. There is always hope. A live dog is better than a dead lion. Hang in there Mookie.
