    • @chiggsytube
      @chiggsytube Před 28 dny +13

      Seriously? Basketball is played way better now than Parish era. Dudes are way more professional, it's the fans who want everybody to hate everybody else. The brotherhood is between them. Does not include the fans. Biggest problem with that era is that the players were not free. Fab 5. Barkley not being a role model. Iverson. The conversations about being authentic to who you actually were ... essential

    • @peacemaker4829
      @peacemaker4829 Před 28 dny +64

      @@chiggsytube He's not talking about being professionals. Those dudes epitomized what being a dog is. Their mentalities were much rougher to their core. Those dudes did not gaf. They were less professional and more like cowboys, and they were hard as nails. This newer generation woukd absolutely destroy the older generation in terms skill and athleticism, but the older generation would destroy in terms of grit and resilience. They both have their pros and they both have their cons. That's why a great mix if the two is how you become loved by most fans, ie MJ and Kobe.

      Right, that physicality slows the game down a ton, because you can just punch quick guards instead of guard them. Showtime Lakers would be BY FAR the slowest team in the NBA today. Hell SSOL Suns too! Physicality bruises your face if you 6'9" maybe lose some teeth. Full speed sprints all game every game? We see it. Ankles. Knees. Achilles. Hamstrings. Also physicality allows the scrubs to stay in the L, they just life weights during offseason. Those dudes gone. Now everybody is lethal from wherever. Vast improvement.

I remember seeing them back in the day late 80's early 90's with NBA players like Jerry Reynolds and Terry Catledge who played for the Orlando Magic. They had some sup dupa Stars that were straight on another level

    I want people to stop saying Kobe was a mirror of MJ. Physically there’s no comparison. People don’t realize how strong MJ was. Not only that no one could grab a ball out of the air with 1 hand like a softball. We will start there. MJ had a 48 inch vertical. Still the highest vertical ever in the league. We’ve had some great leapers 5’9” and under. From Spud Webb to Nate Robinson that won multiple dunk contests between them. Jordan was 6’6” and jumped higher than those guys. He jump so high people literally talked about his hang time and how he floated in air til the defender hit the ground. My point is no one ever had that hang time. The guy in 87 that scored 38 ppg, defensive player of year, All everything else you can think of. Kobe is reminiscent of MJ after baseball. Thats where the comparison starts. When MJ lost some of that raw athleticism. MJ had handles but he didn’t have any wasted dribbles. He dribbles with purpose. People will say Kobe had a better handle which is fine but when Shaq left and Phil left the Lakers Kobe started that iso dribble where everyone watched him. Dribble without purpose is a team killer. Plus Kobe became that 2nd version of MJ when Phil came back to deliver him (2) more chips. The 1st version of Kobe was sooooo damn efficient. He averaged 25 with Shaq and was shooting maybe 15-18 times a game not 25-30. He was Batman and so was Shaq. They were equals. Kobe had to facilitate the offense at the end of the game cause of Shaq foul shooting. He was more Lebron than MJ with the defense of Scottie. I say Lebron cause he could take over a game when needed but facilitated like Scottie. I could go on but you’ll get it

      @@justinangelbeck6330He's not wrong tho. Kobe is by far the most skilled player in the league. Don't forget that Kobe played half of his career with injuries. He's the only NBA player who played with a broken hand, broken finger, torn shoulder, fractured knee and still better than the rest of the NBA players.

      How was he overrated? You people who hate Kobe are so brainwashed it was by designed that they wanted to suppress Kobe to win more rings and had mvps stolen from him. Jordan nor lebron did something that Kobe did and that was go 10-1 vs 50+ win teams and take his teams to the finals without a all nba or defense or dpyo, or all star in 08 he lost to a 4x all star squad in the Celtics. Being overrated isn't the word that goes with kobe at all.

    Wizards are a bum franchise that’s why Gil never got treated good. Use to be like that in Chicago and probably Cleveland too. Once u got great player come in and turn your team into a winner it changes everything. Then lots money to go around.
