Why was rookie Lebron so disliked by his teammates?

  • Did you know that some of Lebron's teammates in his rookie year were also some of his haters. His coach at the time claims that that was perhaps his most impressive season because of the circumstances he had to endure.

    Shaquille O'Neale was also one of those rookies who never (I think) experienced rookie hazing cause he was a big dude and acted as such. There was this story when a Scott Skiles told Shaq "Carry my bags rookie" and Shaq literally replied "I'm not a rookie, I'm the franchise". They left him alone after that. Pretty much sums up Diesel's career in the NBA.

Yeah they were a little too baggy, but from about 91/92 to about 2002 they were perfect length. Just above the kneecap, some guys wore longer ones, like TJ Ford he wore 7 footer shorts at barely 6’0 and looked hilarious, but still. 99% of the league had normal length shorts. They actually still looked like men. With the gay ass universal haircut in the NBA right now and their ‘75 shorty shorts, you QUITE LITERALLY can’t tell the difference between the NBA and the WNBA right now. Sit down. You forget that Miles was just a dumb 21 year old kid at the time. So was Boozer. They'd been the best player at every level before getting to the NBA and then suddenly found themselves struggling. They just couldn't imagine that Lebron would be different. They were also just entering their peaks so natually they wanted to be "the guy", but now they were told that some kid out of high school who hadn't played an NBA minute was going to be "the guy". Their reaction is hilarious in hindsight, but also completely understandable.
      At least they matured enough to admit they were wrong. Ricky Davis is still out there being delusional about the kind of cancer he was to every team he played on and acting like he was ran out of Cleveland for no reason.

      The thing with Lebron was it was obvious he was ready to play in the NBA from day one. You dont pass on a talent like that and put him thrugh the haze system. Jealousy is a real thing and out of all people, vbeterans need to understand better than anyone else that talent is talent and there is nothing you can do about it, except for nurture it and not deliberately try to kill it and destroy it.
      They are called PROFFESIONALS for a reason. Them acting like some high school drama class queens just goes to show how unproffesional they were to begin with and why the Cleveland were in a position to even have a number 1 pick.
      I am glad humble Europeans like Jokic are dominating the league now because American players have been acting out like primadonas for too long. The NBA became a me me me first sport instead of a team sport where every player contributes.
      This ego problem with American players need to stop ASAP or soon Americans will start losing in international competition more and more.

Once they did , the fact the basically played the same position early on took him out of the team plans. Changed the whole trajectory of his career. I know he had some stomach issues but had he had his own team they would’ve been more willing to see him through to healing & becoming the player they expected Dejuan to be when drafted. But boy was definitely his city before Lebron as a pro. Should’ve gave them a chance to play together. Great video. Found myself halfway through without realizing because it was so good. Got my like and my subscription.
    Also, I agree I believe Wemby is being treated like this nowadays. Talent and greatness speaks for itself and in the business of basketball if there is a phenom, get out of the way or get with it.
    Ilgauskas stayed with the Cavs a long time because he was good and also acknowledged LeBron's status.

    People hate LeBron to a degree that is so insane. Y’all will dismiss a guy putting up 23 ppg in 75+ games and say he was a bad teammate because he did coke but y’all look at an 18+ guy who made pretty much public knowledge that he was wrestling for hierarchy from the phenom and say Bron is the bad teammate

    • @MrSlashblade
      @MrSlashblade Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@shaft9000 you’d have a point if Ricky even called Bron out by his name. The worst thing he had was Bron didn’t always pass him the ball. Ricky issue was Cavs FO. The guy just documented that the cavs were surprised by LeBron acceptance to being rookie hazed. All Ricky did was believed he was the better player. He was wrong but he has a right to feel that way and just because he felt that way doesn’t make LeBron a bad teammate. What makes it worse you have IT and Crowder that’s really it to guys who have publicly not like LeBron. Two guys who barely played with him

    Darius Miles is a perfect example of someone who wasn’t good enough to come straight out of high school. Maybe if he went to college for 2 years he’d develop into his potential. That era had way too many hoopers entering out of hs and most were massive busts.

My hat is off to him, and it was the greatest day of my sports life when him, and his team brought a championship 🏆 to Cleveland, Ohio🤎🧡💯❤️🤍
