While I can understand why some people might list Sally Hardesty among the annoying final girls, I don't agree. The argument is that she's too hysterical, either by how the character's written, how she's portrayed by Marilyn Burns, or a little bit of both. The infamous dinner scene at the end, with her darting, fearful eyes and her shrieks of terror being the offered as evidence, along with her fits of insane laughter as she's driven off by the pickup, while Leatherface swings his chainsaw menacingly just feet away from her. Granted, Sally isn't what is today thought of when we think of the "final girl" trope, but I would never call her annoying; rather, I'd say her "driven to the brink of madness" (then over it?) is actually far more realistic than the gal who has a similar ordeal, but whose neatly-coiffed hair somehow is scarcely messed up. Sally's day started off badly enough, when the psycho hitcher cut into her wheelchair-bound brother Franklin's arm with a straight razor, but that was just the warmup. When her boyfriend and two other friends join her and Franklin in search of gas to fuel up their van, but the trio never return, leaving Sally and her bro alone with the van as darkness falls upon them--literally and figuratively. It's at this point in the film that causes her to snap and, I submit, would very likely have the same tramatic effect on just about any later final girl, and that's when the quiet of the night is suddenly disturbed with the sound of what turns out to be a chainsaw, as Leatherface emerged to start hacking Franklin to pieces, and then begins chasing after Sally with the same murderous intent. When she arrives at a gas station, Sally thinks she's found safe haven, until the proprietor seizes and binds her, throwing her in his truck, and taking her to the death house and the dinner party, where--based on the antagonist's table talk--it is pretty clear that they want her to be the entree. So, based on the unrelenting nightmare scenario in which she's found herself. Seen from this angle, Sally's distraught behavior, far from annoying, is completely justified and worthy of our sympathy, for, whole the road signs may read "Texas", she's just about gone as close to Hell as possible in this world.
Totally agree. I think her reactions to the horrifying events are close to what a person might experience. She’s in an insane situation. It’s hard to be a ‘strong survivalist badass’ in that. If you’re human with real emotions, most of those situations would start to break you. The fact that she still made it out says a lot about her, and is admirable.
By the way - you don't count as a final girl if you don't survive the movie. Just being the last to die doesn't count, dying at all means you're disqualified.
I 💯 % disagree with putting Alice from Friday the 13th on this list. She has a great chase scene, she finds all these dead bodies, she attempts to hide, she fights back, and ultimately has a very memorable final girl slashing of her Crazy mom killer, not to mention the MOST MEMORABLE scene in a horror movie , even if it is a dream. And Sally from T.C.M., that is such a memorable character and several senes of her that are absolutely famous ! Her running form Leather Face, even if she is going on the crazy side by this point, she went through sheer hell! And instead of giving into it and feeling defeated, she jumps out of a window and continues running with the sound of a Chainsaw just behind her.
Why would Alice in Nightmare 4 gaining "traits" be annoying? DM is basically a video game, Alice was leveling up learning new skills...FvJ, yeah Lori was kinda annoying....and 😂 what's with the VA change by entry 8?
I think a movie needs the characters to have traits of their own. A video game can have a blank slate character because the player puts themselves into the role.
There is a difference between a movie that has the same plot as another movie without drawing any connection between the two, and a film that is literally the English language remake of a movie.
I liked Alice because she was unlike previous female Nightmare protagonists. Rather than crying to parents or begging police to listen, she’s a naturally quiet and introverted personality who’s *forced* to confront Freddy by loss of her friends and family. Yes, she’s “blank” at the beginning of the movie and her powers don’t necessarily “pull” people into nightmares, but her personality shift later in the film and in 5 is earned. I would rather see a legacy film with her and Dan’s actor somehow returning as different characters, since they had good chemistry.
I think I would've added Rumer Willis' nerdy/bookworm character from Sorority Row. Throughout the majority of the film, she's crying or screaming; then near the end, she suddenly becomes a shotgun-totting badass, without any character arc whatsoever. 🤔🤔 Also, although Idris Elba was only in a supporting role, I found his character alot more interesting than the entire cast of teen victims in the Prom Night remake.
Carrie Fisher's character was the only likeable character in the movie. She was awesome, to the point she felt like she was wasted by not being in a better slasher
I think the original Friday the 13th chose not to focus too much on Alice so as to make it difficult for the audience to guess who is going to live and die. These days, you can pretty much tell from the movie poster who the final girl will be.
It was written a couple years before and rushed into production after screams success and thanks to studio executives had some changes to try and mimic scream
Tbh… I get SOME of the reasoning for the choices on this list... But I feel like most of it boils down to “If you're terrified at all, or react the way a NORMAL, RATIONAL human being would (such as not IMMEDIATELY jumping to violence or MURDER) then you don't deserve to live” I mean, JEEZ, everybody can't be a hardened badass with special skills and fearlessness out of nowhere. And SOMETIMES the best way to survive (especially in real life) IS to run the hell away.
I liked Cabin Fever 2. The movie was so bad it's good. And I think protagonist were meant to be unlikeable, it was more like a very very silly slasher.
In Winnie the Pool the "final girl" died but there's a Final boy but i didn't like very much the protagonist but Well she died so whatever... About Cabin fever haven't seen yet
Calling Noriko in Battle Royale a final girl is a huge stretch imo... The movie did really drop the ball with her though and I'm glad to finally see someone say it so I can't fully disagree. She's not that much better in the book, but at least in that version she doesn't have a creepy subplot about banging the teacher just to give Takeshi Kitano more screentime.
I wouldn't really say Julie was complicit, she was strangled and threatened with death if she didn't go along with it. Sure could've gone to the police later I suppose but coerced is more like it
Yeah, def do not agree with Alice. She is one of the best final girls and the ONLY one to survive Freddy twice. She was a badass and was routing for her the whole time where these other ones you didn’t care if they lived or died.
Alice from Nightmare On Elm Street 4 is a great final girl - by far my favorite one in this series. Anyway, I agree with Sam from newest Scream films. Can't believe some people love her. She's super annoying
Blair isn't a final girl. She's got none of the qualities associated to one. She's just the last one to die. Very different. I think Unfriended is underrated
At least half of the final girls on this list are actually good they just don't fit the standard final girl mold that the writer wants to force them into.
I didn’t mind The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’s Chrissie too much. She pulled herself through a lot of stuff without screaming all the time. Silently remained under a table while her boyfriend was mutilated above her with a chainsaw, didn’t give herself away when the sheriff showed up and I believe mercy killed one of her friends. As far as horror movies go I was surprised she didn’t live.
OK, I just couldn’t let this one go, lol. Your comment about Freddy vs. Jason… if you look into the production history of that film, and you read some of the past scripts entries, of which there were 13, I believe, the script that they used for the movie was absolutely the best of the batch. It recycled some ideas from earlier drafts, but was mainly it’s own thing. Either way, it was miles above the drafts that they did not use. So truly, they really did use the best version of the script they had.
I disagree with your assessment of Alice in "The Dream Master." I love her, and I'm not the only one. The fact that she takes on the traits of Freddy's victims does not make her annoying. Blair in "Unfriended," doesn't count as a final girl. Why? She doesn't survive! Here's another reason why Mandy Lane is annoying: she's portrayed by Amber Heard. You'd think that she'd be able to convincingly portray an evil, aggressive character seeing as she, herself, is ... well, aggressive and prone to evil deeds.
*Spoiler alert regarding Lori from Freddy VS Jason*. If it makes you feel any better, in the Freddy VS Jason VS Ash comic series, Lori and Will (the other survivor from FvJ) go back to Camp Crystal Lake for some “closure” and Jason tracks them down and kills them both and Freddy eventually gets brought back. So I guess in a way it kind of erases her “victory” over Freddy.
I knew Julie from IKWYDLS would be here. They should do a remake with Helen surviving instead, but the actress playing her needs to be as memorable and badass as SMG.
Was expecting the Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2022 final girl on this list. Seeing as most from that movie were unlikeable as well. Only person somewhat likeable from that movie was Dante, the boyfriend.
I disagree with including Alice from Dream Master. She was an awesome final girl. One of my favs. And she did something nobody else did in the Nightmare series. She defeated Freddy twice.
I thought Alice Johnson from "Dream Master" was awesome! I loved her fight with Freddy! I also liked Julie from "I Know What You Did Last Summer" maybe because I like Jennifer Love Hewitt and she acts the same in everything she is in, I loved "Ghost Whisperer". There is so much wrong with the remake of "Nightmare On Elm Street", mainly the fact that it was made. 😂 They either did the exact same thing as the original or they did something stupid. I liked Sara from "Halloween: Resurrection" she didn't want to be there, and it showed in her acting. I thought she was good.
The biggest problem with Crissy in Texas Chainsaw and the movie as a whole. Is the Final Girl wasn’t the nameless girl from the previous movie. That girl managed to get away from the house, steal Hoits gun and walked for miles in the scorching Texas heat. Yes she ultimately deleted herself, but finding out who she was and how she survived the family would have been a much better story then watching Crissy. I actually found Laurie Strode to be annoying in the new Halloween movies. I understood Allison‘s frustration towards her grandma’s crazy obsessiveness.
I agree. Kara was much more likeable than Laurie was, because Laurie's reactions don't make sense. Having paranoia when Michael was locked up for 40 years but then, after he kills her daughter, she just acts like he is not a threat. What's wrong with her? Rachel from H4 is 100% the best final girl in the Halloween franchise, because she fought back and didn't just drop her guard the moment Michael was knocked out. Even though she and Jamie later get the help from the police and a band of angry men, she still fights til they are there and does everything she can do to keep Jamie save and she doesn't freak out when Michael attacks them. She stays as calm as she can be to not make any stupid decisions, cause this could cause Jamie's death.
I didn't find her annoying, I just found her characterization to be too much of a retread of Sarah Connor from T2. I thought she was better handled in H20, which seems to be an unpopular opinion.
@@windowsVD I completely agree. The Laurie from H2O made way more sense. She tried to live her life normally and wasn’t a total nutcase who wasted 40 years of her life trying to bait a serial killer who is locked up.
I would argue that the Burning shouldn’t be included on this list, as it didn’t have a final girl (if anything, Arnie was the final boy as he was the one stalked through the woods) and a great deal of the kids and staff left did survive
Alice Harding from Friday the Thirteenth was a fantastic final girl. She is part of the final girl blueprint for a female protagonist rescuing herself unlike the earlier version like Sally Hardesty or Laurie Stode. She was a very fun character in a movie with many fun characters, but she was also grounded but that doesn't make her bad. You can't sing the praises of JLCs Laurie Strode in the intro and call any character out. What a sleepy portrayal that was and it only got worse in the sequel. I actually only clicked on the video so I could see what you said about Lori from FvsJ. I thought she was a great final girl and I felt the the issues you brought up were of direction and not actor discretion. It was a very stylized entry in all ways including the characters. I haven't finished the video but I hope Roony Mara is on the list for her absolutely terrible job in the Nightmare remake. Worst final girl ever. She didn't want to make the movie and we all knew it
I fully agree with you there. Alice, Sidney and Rachel from Halloween 4 are true final girls, because they weren't just lcuky to survive because of someone coming who beats the killer, unlike Laurie who needed Loomis or Nancy Holbrook, who was literally saved by Quentin's actions and only delivered the final blow, that cut of Freddy's head. Everyone talks about her being a final girl, but Quentin deserves the title of final guy much more than Nancy ever does, since she literally only ran and Quentin fought, not caring if he survived or died, as kong as Nancy was save and Freddy dead. Also most of F13's final girls aren't even really fighting back as well. Only ones who really deserve the title are Alice, Ginny, Chris, Trish and Tina (and the Robot girl frim Jason X). The other's didn't really do much and needed other characters to save them from certain death.
Blair from unfriended has to be number 1. She cheated on her boyfriend, made the video that drove the girl to kill herself and then sat there while all her friends died.
it's funny that you mention people preferring Helen over Julie in I Know What You Did Last Summer bc at the time, everything was praising Jennifer Love Hewitt although Sarah Michelle Gellar-Prinze truly deserved it
I've always kind of felt like the protagonists of Battle Royale were more like audience surrogates taking us through a theme park of interesting personalities.
I'm pretty sure the reason Lena Headey wasn't the final girl in Laid to Rest is because the actress playing Princess Gemstone was dating the director at the time. they broke up before the sequel and that's why it was a different actress playing her in the 2nd movie and why she was killed off so early in that movie
I’m sorry y’all can’t convince me Freddy vs Jason a bad movie considering what it is……say what you want about the leads acting but stop trying to convince us the movie is bad
They didn’t say the movie was bad, they said Laurie was annoying which I do agree with. I don’t agree that Alice from Friday the 13th was annoying however.

Why would the writers of [REC] have called 'Quarantine' a 'rip off'? It was a remake. Openly. They got paid. The weirdest thing is a few seconds before that, you say that 'Quarantine' was a remake of [REC]. So, was it a remake? Or was it a rip off with similarities that stretched?
@@user-kw3cd6ch4m Hmm, okay. But it says right there in the credits, 'Based on the motion picture REC written by Jaume Balagueró & Luis A. Berdejo & Paco Plaza'. So I'm confused by the claim that the writers 'openly expressed their displeasure at just how much of a rip off "Quarantine" was of the original'. I'd love to know the source for this claim.
Sam Carpenter? You think Scream's Sam Carpenter is annoying? HOW VERY DARE YOU? She's a brilliant inversion of the final girl, what Mandy Lane was supposed to be but actually better executed (pun intended). And one of the most interesting and unique final girls in recent years.
The reason it’s hard to support the guy in the truth or die one is because he’s trying to get revenge not for his brother hurting himself but for ‘making him gay’. He sucks, I’m pretty sure it’s even implied he had something to do with the suicide attempt. That’s why his own brother willingly uses his last moment of consciousness to kill him, as the final girl gave him the option. I also think she uses the tape against her boyfriend, not the other guy but can’t fully remember that part.
I agree. Halloween Ends is the third worst movie in the franchise after Resurrection and the Theatrical Cut of H6 (Producer's Cut on the other hand is awesome).
I agree the material of Scream 5 wasn't original. But, Melissa Barrera is a god-awful actress, especially when you paired her up with Jenna Ortega, it show just how bad an actress she is.
I agree. Sam just wasn't a good character and I'm so relieved that we will now get a Scream 7 with Sidney as the main character and Kevin Williamson as the director. The new actors really aren't the best and the movies just suck nowadays.
its localization, they didn't dub the orig and made a localized version, so did the studio buy the rights and if so not a rip off, maybe a disappointment but sometimes audiences look for something with local flavor
You saying Sam is annoying negate of the unoriginal script seems pointless. Also, Deena from Fear Street doesn't mourn her friends so she's annoying. Vicky from Terrifier does mourn her sister so she's annoying. She also does incredibly illogical things so she's annoying. Michelle from the Burning does the most logical thing you could do in that situation so that makes her annoying. Jfc...🙄
I'm sorry but putting Alison on this list is wrong. Her character development comes full circle with Michael being the reason that her much like Lori. Life has been screwed up to the max and the trauma of losing her mom in the film before. But she wanted to be more then just the one that got away. So I disagree with you completely on that.
*How is Kate from Army of the dead not number 1???? She is the reason 90%+ of the characters died. She was petulant and a brat the whole time with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. She is literally the worst character in movie history*

had no idea this was a compilation ...sorta explains the abrupt voice change by Entry 8...since they do those "8 xyz type of videos"
I agree
Sally in TCM is the queen of irritating final girls. Ugh I was like STFU!!
Just watched Army of the Dead and I agree with your assessment of Kate.
Laurie Strode in Rob Zombie's Halloween one and two got on my nerves.
Alice is not annoying in ANOES she is so underrated its sad
Did anyone ever tell Amber Heard that the movie is over?
@@valeriebreidenstein8362 I honestly don't agree Rachel's okay but Jamie Lloyd is the best.
Final Destination 3
Mad respect to Mary Elizabeth Winstead BUT character annoyed me so much! They made her sound like a country girl who moved to L.A.
This didn't really land with me TBF
I would argue that the Burning shouldn’t be included on this list, as it didn’t have a final girl (if anything, Arnie was the final boy as he was the one stalked through the woods) and a great deal of the kids and staff left did survive
You forgot Scarlett from “As Above, So Below”. 😂
Natalie Simon from Urban Legend needed to be on this list. (Replace Alice Johnson with her.)
Hey! Whitney Moore is a LEGEND.
@@SonicTheDarkHedgehog she said they picked the worse script
Prom night was not a remake. It has nothing to do with the original. I just happens to take place on the night of the prom.
Sally?!?bro what?

Why would the writers of [REC] have called 'Quarantine' a 'rip off'? It was a remake. Openly. They got paid. The weirdest thing is a few seconds before that, you say that 'Quarantine' was a remake of [REC]. So, was it a remake? Or was it a rip off with similarities that stretched?
It was a ripoff because they marketed It as an 'original,' and barely released REC only direct to DVD after burying It for months.
And one of the most interesting and unique final girls in recent years.
the Mandy lane one isn't surprising seeing as who the actress is
How is Ghost from Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed not on this list?
The reason it’s hard to support the guy in the truth or die one is because he’s trying to get revenge not for his brother hurting himself but for ‘making him gay’. He sucks, I’m pretty sure it’s even implied he had something to do with the suicide attempt. That’s why his own brother willingly uses his last moment of consciousness to kill him, as the final girl gave him the option. I also think she uses the tape against her boyfriend, not the other guy but can’t fully remember that part.
Halloween is the the What if? installment of H20. Watch the special features and they laid this movie out beforehand
Does this video change narrators midway through?
I guess the title isn't literal these are not all great horror movies. Halloween ends on the list
I agree. Halloween Ends is the third worst movie in the franchise after Resurrection and the Theatrical Cut of H6 (Producer's Cut on the other hand is awesome).
Wow you don't like Sally hardesty but you are happy with the d day girl
I agree the material of Scream 5 wasn't original. But, Melissa Barrera is a god-awful actress, especially when you paired her up with Jenna Ortega, it show just how bad an actress she is.
I agree. Sam just wasn't a good character and I'm so relieved that we will now get a Scream 7 with Sidney as the main character and Kevin Williamson as the director.
The new actors really aren't the best and the movies just suck nowadays.
The final girl in happy death day was good? I must be misremembering it
That background music is distracting terrible and too loud. Please stop using background music in these videos
its localization, they didn't dub the orig and made a localized version, so did the studio buy the rights and if so not a rip off, maybe a disappointment but sometimes audiences look for something with local flavor
LOL why does Justine look like Amanda Bynes in She's the Man...
i loved sam one of my favorite final girl 100% not Annoying
What's annoying is making a list just to have a list. Eg. Michele from The Burning she made it on the list because she wasn't in the movie.
Helen Shivers is MY final girl❤
Kate from Army of the Dead is even more annoying playing Jackie in the Yellowjackets Series
Natalie in Urban Legend
Bet you wouldn't say that to Alice's face in person aka Lisa Wilcox
I almost liked this video until Sam Carpenter showed up. I LOVE her as my Scream final girl.
Jfc...🙄
I have Factor dinners and they are delicious.
You’re right some final girls are annoying
“Discount Randy???”
Rude. 😒😒😒
The daughter from Army Of The Dead was very annoying
I swear that girl looks like Nadia Comenaci(not sure of the spelling). Number 14 or 15 I think.
Well, Monica Keena was Eddie Furlong's punching bag, so.....
Justine from 'Tormented' looks like a Justin Bieber impersonater from the 'Baby' era!!!
Amy from the ruins. Almost her entire character is cheating on her boyfriend.
Birdemic’s so bad they had to get a different narrator for the rest of the video💀 (j)
Entertaining ≠ Great
Kate from Army of The Dead should have been ranked as number one, should there had been an actual ranking system. I legit hated her.
I agree, Kate is one of the most annoying characters I've ever seen
