Good to see Final Destination NOT making the list. I think 5 did a good job tying things back up in a satisfactory way, and I hope no one reboots it. There's really only so many times you can do the formula.
While it's 10x than THE final destination (which I don't even include in a rewatch - 5,1,2 then 3) it's not great. If it wasn't for the reveal at the end it probably would be on this list
If you told me of all the Iconic 80s horror franchises that Chucky/Child's Play would be pretty much the only one still going strong, I would have laughed at you.

Halloween did not go out with a whimper, it went down with a resounding thud that split fans down the middle some of us hated some of us liked it. But don't think this is the end, since it is the only franchise of the Big 3 so to speak still going you bet that another reboot is in the works, y'all know money talks. Fans will watch yet another one no doubt.
I'm rooting for going off the rails in the opposite direction. Reboot again but keep 2-6 canon, even 3. Let's just go nuts with spooky Celtic and Stonehenge mystical nonsense.

My problem with the Leprechaun franchise as a whole was that they couldn't keep their plotline straight. Is he vulnerable to four leaf clovers or the touch of iron? Is he looking to reclaim his lost gold, get married or steal souls by tricking people into making wishes? Why, after being blown to bloody chunks at the end of one movie, was that movie's protagonist then selling him as a statue at the start of the second?
The author was LIVID about the I Know What You Did Last Summer movie. When it came out, her daughter had just been murdered. The terrifying plausible story was turned into a slasher........She still has issues with the film for obvious reasons
What about the Sleepaway Camp Franchise?! SC1 - A classic SC2 - okay SC3 - bad RTSC/SC4 - terrible I really thought the last Sleepaway Camp movie was going to be good as the original director/writer of the first movie returned to make another one but it turned out to be the worst with a cringey script, bad writing, mediocre kills, rushed filming and an extremely annoying, unlikeable main character Also, I remember back in 2020/2021 that Felissa Rose (Angela’s original actor) said that there’s a Sleepaway Camp prequel in the works but there hasn’t been an update since!
I've recently discovered if whatculture doesnt like a horror then its probably gonna be good, if they recommend something then it'll probably be bland same old horror. Whatculture horror seems to be very complimentary of mainstream horror and insulting towards b-horror and cheaper horror lately. Sucks since all the mainstream 1's tend to be boring unbelievable ghost/possession nonsense.

I feel Halloween ends would of been better if the end of the movie had Corey actually being saved from becoming a killer. Cause its made very clear throughout the film that the people of Haddonfield are the actual villlians of the movie constantly pushing Corey towards becoming another Michael, and the whole "I became a killer cause some girl didnt go out with me" twist is so gutdamn weak
I agree. I think that story COULD have been interesting, and I personally wouldn't have cared very much about Michael being sidelined if it were. But as it stands there's really no meaningful devolution of his character. A nearly two hour runtime and there's hardly any more nuance than, "Boy sad; boy kill."

I'll admit that the 2022 Netflix Texas Chainsaw film wasn't the best for the franchise, but I didn't think it was the worst. It did have some cool kills, but the film just wasn't entirely handled right. It didn't even feel like Leatherface with that film. They literally made him more like Jason Voorhees and Michael Myers in which he has incredible strength and never grunted or anything upon feeling pain. Literally Leatherface screamed upon having his leg being cut by his chainsaw in the original film but for the 2022 film, he didn't make any sound. I feel like the writers knew what story they wanted to go with, but just couldn't figure out how to properly write it. They didn't explain how Leatherface ended up in that orphanage, what happened to the rest of his family, and they killed off Sally. I get they were making her similar to Laurie in Blumhouse's Halloween films, but killing her was not the right thing to do. She didn't even have a real impact on the movie. Lionsgate's Leatherface prequel is the worst of the franchise. Not only was it not a good origin story for the character, it did not feel like a Texas Chainsaw film. The 2006 film was a better origin for Leatherface (and his family). That film and the 2003 remake are the best in the series in my opinion. I will admit that there were stuff in the original film that were done better, but the 2003 film just seems to be a tiny bit better. With that, I wish they made a sequel to it like they were originally planning. And yes, Halloween Ends wasn't perfect. The 2018 film is my favorite sequel in the franchise. But Corey's story definitely overshadowed this end to the Blumhouse story. It should have been focused on Laurie trying to find Michael to finally put an end to this nightmare. The final battle was cool, but that's what the rest of the movie should have been. Corey did to some of my favorite stuff in the franchise like that kill in the radio station, but the fact that this was supposed to be the end of Laurie and Michael, it just doesn't work. And now Jamie Lee Curtis said she is done playing the character. I respect that because the movie did end with her character finally getting a happy ending because in all the other timelines of the Halloween franchise, her story always ended terribly.

Lep 3 is great, and Leprechaun Returns is actually a really well done film for the franchise, second best in the series. Origins is junk though haha.

The omen 2 was easily the best of the series, to the point I feel nothing but sympathy for Damien in the movie. 3 was good too until 4 ruined it.
