- These are soo good, you must try them out!!
SOUP DUMPLING INGREDIENTS
* 2 cups chicken or pork broth (homemade or store bought)
* 2 Tbsp Gelatin powder
* 2 lbs of ground meat (I made both chicken and pork. I prefer pork because the dumplings come out juicier than chicken)
* Any Vegetables for the filling. I used:
- onion
- chives
- cabbage
- carrots, shredded
- ginger (About a quarter size)
* Choice of seasoning(s). I used:
- 1/2 tbsp sugar
- 2 tbsp chicken bouillon
- 1/2 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp black pepper
* Wonton/Gyoza wrappers (I used the “Twin Dragon” brand)
SAUCE INGREDIENTS
* soy sauce
* Chili oil
* vinegar (A tiny dash, a little goes a long way. My fave is red wine vinegar but I only had rice vinegar at home.)
* Chives
Recipe
Make or buy chicken broth ( boil chicken in water, add in your favorite seasonings, boil until the chicken is cooked).
Add gelatin to chicken broth and place it in the fridge for a few hours or in the freezer for a few minutes until it because jelly-like.
Add gelatinized broth, meat, vegetables, and seasonings to a bowl.
Wet the surface of the wrapper, add filling, and create pleats. Steam a few at a time for 20 minutes and enjoy with your favorite sauce or in a warm broth!

Does Jell-O melt when you heat it up? I don't eat Jell-O and have never had soup dumplings (although I wish I had) so I'm not familiar with it's thickening properties. Definitely saving the recipe to try this out, everything looks delicious
@@robyn3601YES! It’s thermoreversible!! ᵕ̈ I’m excited for you to try this recipe out!!
❤
This recipe yields over 50 dumplings? (It looks amazing btw)
@@___erika I think she did some chicken ones and some pork ones so maybe 25? 🤷🏾♀️
I just tried them and had to get some more they are so tasty.. I could eat them every day 😊
Omg this makes me so happy!!! 🥰

So the gelatin is the secret to the soup inside the dumplings. I was always curious. So glad I saw this video. Seems simple and delicious
If you do it the long method/ traditional way, the collagen from boiling the broth together with meat/bone in long period of time (my aunt adds duck meat on the broth and chicken feet/ pork skin or more collagen/ jello texture after cooling) will produce the gelatin soup❤
Even better if you get the gelatin from a chicks carcass (or add stock powder)
Te recomiendo hacer el caldo casero con muchos huesos y cartilagos de pollo, la gelatinizacion se va a producir sola debido al colágeno y tendrá un sabor más que impresionante!
you can use chicken feet too they have tons of collagen and little flavor

OMG this blew my mind. Your recipe makes it so realistic for an average person to recreate this at home!
Thank you so much! 🫶🏻
Except who has a steamer? Not me
@@MissDorIsHere if your east or south asian you probably do because i have one
My beautiful 14-yr-old daughter, who is an aspiring chef, made these for dinner today along with steamed rice and veggies! She did an absolutely amazing job! Thank you for this helpful video and recipe!
Just a tip, no need to wet the entire wrapper as it could rip, just a tiny bit on the edge is enough
I did this because mine were stiff for some reason 😭😭 wetting the entire wrapper helped soften it up
Yeah nah the ones I get you also have to wet the whole wrapper. Some are coated in a lot of flour etc
@@halloumi420 yea nah maybe haha
@@housemana yes some are . There is proof 💀

"Store bought is just fine" ..ok Ina😂
I made my own chicken broth. It’s easy. I just freeze onion, garlic, etc chicken scraps. One day I buy a rotisserie chicken eat 1/2 of it with a meal and the other half with bones I put with frozen scraps and simmer for a while. Idk if you care but it’s essentially making food from trash.
@@Wesjag03 or just buy a box of chicken stock that’s literally two dollars at the store. Why would you want to keep chicken carcass in your fridge and make everything smelly 😮😂
@@indigochild2023_why wild it even smell. do you eat rotten meat?
@@indigochild2023_ maybe because they can take control of the ingredients and salt 😅 some people have health issues
@@indigochild2023_why would you mock
Someone for not being wasteful? Store bought tastes like crap.
I store my chicken scraps in the freezer. No smell that way. But they wouldn’t smell in the fridge unless I waited a month to make soup.
You’ve never had a good meal in your life if you don’t understand why home made should be better.
Some peoples home made is trash because they can’t cook. If store bought is better… that’s a sign.
I just bought a steamer( impulse buy) Now l have something to cook
haha i love that for you! Yes, try this recipe out!! I'm so excited for you to try it out! Let me know how it goes for you!! ☺
Same! I saw the steamers in a store on vacation and just went for it hahaha
Do you know what I can use instead of steaming paper though? I cant get any😬
@@mushroom_beans You can make your own with parchment or wax paper. Punch holes or cut into individual squares.
@@What.The.Fluff. Thanks! I will try that out^^

then you need to eat more and better dumplings to raise your standards, it's literally set in hell right now if you think these botched dumplings are the best you've had lol
Thanks to all 💗
I would devour all 50 myself, dumplings are so good 🤤
This is me. I keep making a dozen boiled eggs and then I suddenly have no boiled eggs 😂
What's dumplings?
@@ajisegbedeadejokeaanuoluwa9640
a small savory ball of dough (usually made with suet) which may be boiled, fried, or baked in a casserole.
@@ajisegbedeadejokeaanuoluwa9640momos
I can finish 5 at most, how does your stomach handle that?
I JUST had the Trader Joe’s ones TODAY FOR LUNCH. FOR THE FIRST TIME 😂😭 but I checked the inspection dates & it must’ve been the first batch they rolled out after they resolved that issue. It didn’t match the inspection codes on the contaminated bunch. The panic attack I had just now 🙃😅 but these look incredible. Thank you for a beautiful roller coaster of emotions lmao
Thank God it wasn't the same batch! I can't imagine the panic
Why are they being recalled?
@@nus5013 some batches out of their CA manufacturing facility had traces of a plastic material that’s found in permanent markers 😬

Today I learned how you get soup in a soup dumpling. Ingenious
The fact that you left the Recipe ❤thanks !!! These R delicious ❤
Thanks for sharing this recipe. They look so good like a medicine for the soul. I never had figured out how to get the soup INSIDE the dumplings!
Nothing beats handmade dumpling dough.
This looks so amazing!
They're being recalled?? I get those like every time
It was only one batch with a certain expiration date. One of the employees at the factory dropped a lid from a marker somewhere during the making process and people complained about hard plastic in them. It was isolated.
@@jessicaripkoThank you!❤

There’s nothing more beautiful than to make your sister her fave foods. This’d dumplings look amazing! 😋. I baked flan as my sister’s birthday cake one year, and on the first night back home from the hospital back in January, I made her baked chicken with baby potatoes.

I’m excited for you to try out this recipe! Let me know how it goes for you! Best of luck 😊
can you freeze them? if so do you have to thaw them out first? they look so good 🤤🤤
Yes, but flash freeze without them touching each other on parchment paper. Then after they are frozen you can stick them in a bag.
Thank you so much! does it affect how long i steam them for?
Never had dumplings up until last weekend, it was wayyy better than I expected 👍
You did an amazing job!! ⭐️💕💕
I’m sending this to my mom & sister right now, we all love soup dumplings & but the pre-made frozen ones too.
Thank you
The night I was gonna buy them I didn’t and then the next day they got recalled
omg!! Good thing you didn't buy them!!! I was also going to buy them the day before they were recalled but they were sold out!!
I've never had this type dumplings.... looks delicious!
thay look so good ngl
OMG. Drooling in Portland! I love dumplings, gyoza, anything filled in a wrap. Except shrimp...so allergic I cannot be near them.
Try using cottage cheese (paneer) as a substitute for meat sometimes, its delicious. I use it as a meat substitute in a lot of meals on days i dont eat meat
Sounds good!
This is a fantastic recipe and easy to make, the hard part for is I’d wrapping them, I figure that’s just practice. Thank you for the recipe list, that was very helpful. I can see how you ate them all 😉 I’ll make these for my family, and I’ll make GF ones out of rice paper wrappers for me.
Wow! That looks delicious. I'm definitely making those. Thanks for the recipe.
why are they being recalled?
"Trader Joe’s Steamed Chicken Soup Dumplings with the best by date 03.07.25 and lot code C1-1 or C1-2 due to the potential presence of foreign material (plastic)." - from the Trader Joe's Website
@@moniquerubalcavafoods YIKES!!! thank you.z
That looks so freaking good!!
If you have the time, if you make chicken broth and leave the bones in the broth overnight, it will naturally become gelatinous
Definitely didn't know about the recall, but glad it's just a certain batch of the chicken flavored kind because I always buy pork. This looks so much easier than I imagined the process to be - may give it a try! Thanks for sharing.
These look DEVINE
Next time, try reducing the existing broth to concentrate the amount of collagen within.
This will act as a natural gelatin and increase the amount of flavour in your soup. A bit more time consuming but definitely worth it ❤️❤️
Probably won't work well with typical broth, especially the store-bought kind. You'd need way too much. See, in the traditional recipe, they use pork bone stock and there's plenty of collagen.
... Gelatin??! 🤮. If you're going to make it, make it right.
Soup dumplings aren’t made with gelatin? I’ve only seen them be made with gelatin. How else would you keep the broth from spilling out?
@@moniquerubalcavafoods not traditionally... From what I've known it's made from fatty bone broth and the fat makes into that gelatin substance.
@@moniquerubalcavafoodsI think traditionally, the broth is made with chicken feet, lots of bones, or the parts of the animal with the most collagen, which creates a very gelatinous broth when cooled. That being said, the gelatin powder stirred in works just as well, maybe with a little bit less flavor/health benefits!
@@moniquerubalcavafoodsthis is the first I’ve seen it using a mix. But I might actually attempt making them now as that seems much easier. I’ve always seen the gelatin made naturally by creating a fatty broth.
Definitely gonna try your way of a recipe, thank you looks amazing 👍😋😉
Your sister is a lucky gal! These look soooo good 😋😋😋
