    Thank you for sharing your experience, I was curious what kind of IDE amazon use for conducting its interviews? when you are asked to code a solution, will there be a problem statement given along with a method to complete or will the problem statement be given by the interviewer orally and we have to write complete code for it including taking inputs?

    • @thesiliconstreet
      @thesiliconstreet  Před 3 lety +1

      I forgot the name of the IDE. They usually use that one and you may try that online if you want now. The interviewer may be vague and we have to ask him more examples then he will write or he may write the question completely and you have to ask for test examples. It depends upon the interviewer.

    What should be a decent profile to even get an interview call?
    I am a non-cs grad from tier 3(2020). I am doing DSA right now. Should I apply just after finishing it & solving leetcode OR I should also do webdev & make some projects to show them on my resume.
    This question is in general for other product companies as well including amazon.

    • @thesiliconstreet
      @thesiliconstreet  Před 3 lety +1

      I will say keep on applying while you are doing ds and algo. Projects are always welcome as they will help you show your skills. The more interviews you will give the more you will get trained. You will be able to understand what the interviewer is expecting from you and you can learn that and apply those things in the next interviews.

      I applied for both SDE 1 and SDE 2. No, you do not have to use a webcam. I do not think that they allow you to google, however, even if you google they can't track you. The questions are not that difficult, you can solve it without googling.

      @@thesiliconstreet This is not always the case (that the problems are not difficult). One of my friends got a problem that is a modified minimum spanning tree problem, which is not something that I think most would expect an engineer to have up their sleeve at any moment. However, you can take something like the union/find data structure as a black box, as long as you explain it in the post-coding sections.
      On the other hand, both me and my friend got two-sum on the OA (and I got it again at on-site), so there are definitely some very easy problems in the pool.

    Thanks for being honest and sharing your experience. I just gave an onsite interview at amazon for sde ii today. I felt the interview went well. It was a 4 hrs interview. I managed to do the systems design, coding and behavioral questions. The questions I was asked to code are pretty easy compared to the leetcode hard level questions. The challenge is understanding vague problems they throw at you. But, they are all helpful if you ask for clarification or requirements. My advice is do not assume just ask for clarification.
    I will also have onsite interview with google in two weeks. Please wish me good luck

    I received amazon interview request but I am very worried. I have about 5 years of web and cs development experience so I am familiar to design and make web portals and windows form based application for the companies I work for. However, I can't solve single coding question for leetcode or hackerrank rated as an easy question. Should I even bother with this interview at this point? My current and previous job never required me faang level coding test to get in and honestly, it was more of challenge to get used to framework they are using for their systems. It's not like I am going for machine learning, so I never needed anything outside of stuff like hashmap, loops for developing application and web portals. I have feeling it would be better drop the interview from amazon before I embarrass myself at this point and take time to prepare for the interviews later on. :(

      In Amazon or other fang the main focus is on Algorithm and DS leet code questions. I will say drop the interview for now because if you fail then it will take 1 year for next chance. I will say you should at least solve 300+ leetcode questions with optimized solutions.
