I'd suggest an extra bottle cap, never know when you'll drop one and step on it, or lose it while collecting water. Throw it in your hygiene or repair kit bag, oh, and have a repair kit.
The video was made just for show. Most of these people that put out these kind of videos don't do what they say they are doing. Most of their hiking and backpacking videos are scripted and embellished.
I know that those lighters are cheaper but trust me when you're out there it's worth it to have a Bic with the safety taken off! Like someone else mentioned as well a Ferro rod can do no wrong. Happy hiking
@@eitanpaster5692half of the instances that your lighter doesn’t work, it’s because the flint has gone. Then you’re in a pickle! Definitely bring a spare something, sparkers are so light and small
From someone who had the same backpack: get a different one, with load lifters. It gave me a lot of shoulder pain because the frame is basically useless without load lifters
Ditch the pack cover and use a trash bag as a liner for your pack. Keep in mind CA has once again had record snowfall in the mountains. Make sure you have the proper gear for the conditions.
I'd be taking another external battery. Also I'd definitely get a pack liner instead of a pack cover. Pack covers don't keep your stuff dry that well at all.
As always it's a personal choice. But what I've found is that most people that want an umbrella want to keep the sun off, primarily their head and shoulders. This means they have insufficient head cover. If people want to carry them I see no issue but I make better miles without messing with an umbrella and just wear a booney hat and good sunscreen. Umbrellas do come in handy when stationary though. Nothing like sitting in the blazing sun eating lunch and wishing you were under cover. For the PCT since you start in the spring, usually in NM, you have the coolest days in the hottest and most open areas so I suppose an argument can be made you don't really need it at all.
you just need to safe up some money and quit your job or have an arrangement with your employer. The PCT usually takes around 6-7 Months, but you have very few fixed expenditures. You can do this easily with $10-12k
You are totally living the best life. I love that you paint on the way. That is my dream but for the at trail. Happy painting my friend. I know it’s not your channel thin but please show your painting sometimes in your videos. I would love to see it. I love my Art tool kit palette. What do you think about it. 😊
Are you taking fitness tracker? If so any recommendations? Best wishes. I’m not quite ready the entire trail as of yet but plan on doing about 1000m. Thanks for the packing list. Very helpful❤
The burner needs to be able to turn on at high elevation and in the wind and cold. MSR and Jetboil have their own version but of windproof. I myself just bought a .5 liter Primus Lite and it is compact and windproof.
I think the real question is how much do I need to save for the trip, and to cover expenses from the time off work I'll have to take lol 2 months rent? 3? 😂
How much food are you lugging? I, guessing you have food drops/stops . Also I’d highly recommend hiking sticks ( makes a big difference for long trekking ) and a decent knife/multi tool and cheap & light solar panel
@@Andy-Mesa last year there was a almost 16 mile stretch in the beginning without water, I ran out about 3 miles from Moreno lake. The longest 3 miles of my life.

I just seen something about the Pacific Crest trail and I think it was Carson City or something that was looking to pay a couple of hikers to do the PCT for $5,000. Good idea. I do that. She has 4 bottles so maybe no need if it’s only a couple of sections need long water carry. I’m not sure with PCT.
Sawyer filter and at a bottle cap bidday to save the day

Thanks so much! It got cut off because there’s a time limit on shorts. Full video on my channel!

Sucks how water has to be the most heaviest item in the ruck, but the most important lol
yeahhhh I also share the same sentiments hahahha bringing 3 litter of water is no joke
Do not let ANYONE give you shit about that umbrella.
100% the best damn thing I brought for Socal.
gotta protect yourself from the heat
Also drop the lantern. Just use your headlamp and also get a cheap gas can refiller to refill on the half canisters in the hiker box. Have fun!
A second Kula for washing the body is a genius idea!

Do not bring a ferro rod. Bring two bics. Weight and reliability is better with a bic.

I'd love to see your paintings when you do them.
a small Ferro Rod can fit in the pen pockets or anywhere else, never know when that lighter or the stove wont light.

FANTASTIC!!! Safe travels and we look forward to following your journey! ❤
Love the Gorilla! I’ve used one 3years. I folded the 1/8 in pad and put it in the back pane of the pack and took out the seat pad. Best of luck!

Good luck !!! 🙏💚🙏

Didn't see sleeping gear/system or snow/cold weather gear.. but maybe the PCT starts in summer time. I'm on the AT right now
You’ll drop the umbrella pretty quickly. And also the pack cover for a pack liner (SOBO 2019)

1-2 sports caps are cool, but all 4 filled at once could lead to accidental disposal. Twist caps are best for non immediate use liquids.

Yeah, right some of the sections without water on the PC tear multiple day in the desert. You cannot do it with less than 5 L of water.
