    The reason why it went to 11 instead of 10 is because the penalty to hit is capped by your BAB (and the damage bonus is 2x penalty if thf))

    I think it would be great to add some tactics insights to these videos, ie role in the party, how to stay alive, crowd control, targeting which enemies in which order etc. Appreciate this is extremely variable depending on the exact character build vs. enemies vs. party composition - and perhaps also fairly obvious for this particular class. But I think it would still help newer players to understand how to keep up and be useful without dying.

    I would love to see a video going over some viable routes for quick early leveling through heroics while picking up good gear along the way with a first life toon. This might be a big ask, but I cant find many resources that hit those boxes. Thanks for the beginner friendly content!

      Been doin most of this route over 12 years. U can change fens with like ravenloft for instance if its more weapon/total xp. But for heroics this will get u far and get most of the weapon sets/rare items. I dont have saltmarsh or fey but they have newer/better low level/legendary gear. Once the double points are up Ill buy them guaranteed.

      First thing to do as a ranger: change your controls: A = step left, D = step right. That's how you will avoid most damage from throws, arrows, linear casts from level 1 to cap. It also makes circle-kiting easier. You won't hit many wolves still, no matter what. :D

    I just did a TR into a warforged barbarian and damn is it fun. I will say that to get those most out of them you wanna buy both haste and rage potions (more strength and con since it stacks with barbarian rage). But I'm nigh unkillable with blood tribute + the occult slayer focus. I would highly recommend this character for people with some gear collected as I find melee to be more dependent on gear. Since you need accuracy + deadly + seeker...etc. EDIT: Ancient Power (primal epic tr) is amazing on a 2 handed character due to getting + to damage as well as to hit.

    i love how they made good transition from PnP rules to MMOs ones, like Intimidate being a Taunt skill here, however i still think that it should have been switched to a STR mod, to be more distinctive from Bluff/Diplomacy and other CHA based stuff. I get that by the book's flavor CHA is also the strenght of your personality which could be used offensively, but it doesn't makes sense to me that a pretty Bard would be more Intimidating than a Hill Giant :)

    • @Strimtom
      @Strimtom  Před 11 měsíci +2

      Size matters for intimidate, both in pen and paper and in ddo! Larger targets get a bonus. Half lines and gnomes have a -4 for being small, and you get a -4 for every size smaller you are vs a target. So trying to intimidate the hill giant you have a -8 on a human. So the stature idea is kept intact.
      It is actually something you need to think about because a few raid bosses are so big you have a -16 and -20 on them, so you gotta factor that in or you might miss intimidate

    power attack does add/sustract dmg/hit from your BAB . At lvl 4 BARB you have 4 BAB so it takes 4 AB and gives 4 dmg (actually +8 for two hander)

  • @r8chlletters
    @r8chlletters Před 2 lety +1

    Strim what is the best companion for a barbarian? Someone with distance attack and strong heals? Would a bow ranging bard work or does it have to be a healer cleric or some other caster type? I have higher range weapon ability in my permanent stats at the moment…I’m more interested in playability than leveling quickly. I’m not a speed demon but want to work together to have mucho fun times. Thanks ✨

    • @Strimtom
      @Strimtom  Před 2 lety +2

      Warchanter is my pick. Get a bard who also runs around with a big two handed sword, but also gets some healing and stuff, and you can both scream and shout and SMASH with big weapons. It's thematic, and good.
      Or any spellcaster with any healing also works. Druid, Bard, Alchemist, etc. Basically as long as someone does some healing, you will both succeed.
      So in summary, to compliment what they do best, keep the barbarian alive and good questing will come. You can't go wrong no matter what you pick.

    Unfortunately link Doesnt work because site is under maintenance. Is there anywhere else we can find various barb builds? I am a returned player and playing with my lvl 15 barb right now. But other characters really make tons of damage and very annoying. Maybe my enhancement distro is wrong.

    Just be careful with your HP when blood tribute ends, especially on hardcore. I've seen quite a few deaths from loss of temporary HP without healing.

  • @denewst01
    @denewst01 Před 2 lety +1

    I tend not to take power attack on a barbarian, I actually prefer sap - sure it's only a daze which is broken by subsequent damage but that brief daze will interrupt enemy special attacks & casting, will hit multiple enemies with strikethrough & has no save, so it's still reliable on all difficulties - particularly good to use as you charge through a group then keep going to hit the caster at the back, which will also grab their aggro for your friends following behind to take advantage of.
    I find people often overlook the fact that barbarians get access to uncanny dodge, remember to use it when running into tougher fights as not getting hit in the first place is a really good way to boost survivability.
    It always strikes me as kinda funny that of the self-healing options available to barbarians in their tier 5 enhancements, ravager requires attacking, occult slayer has a kind of spell ability to heal but requires building charges to use (via attacking), then frenzied berserker, thematically the most aggressive, just requires you to have rage active; I like to imagine that you're just looking down at your wounds and yelling at them until they go away. In addition to the regular potions, don't overlook elixirs from collectable turn-ins & daily dice as with that high healing amp they can give a decent amount & keep an eye out for the rarer potions too like restoration (not lesser, those are easy to find), panacea, fire shield, death ward etc.
    Race-wise, despite half orcs being very strong I'd generally choose either aasimar if i want a barbarian with even easier access to self healing (yay healing hands! you'll need some points in WIS) or shifter since the tier 1 racial enhancements will stack with those in occult slayer to give an extra +6 CON while raging beyond that granted by the rage itself & the duration boosts stack too, so you can be very tough & it'll be very hard to run out of rages. Of the f2p races, dwarves are a good option for one that's tough & harder to hit (they can get increased max dex bonus with armour so higher dodge cap too) & you really can't go wrong with good old human with their bonus feat & healing amp.

      It's funny because the ddowiki.com/page/Item:Conqueror_of_Bone is a really really good weapon. It's just that greatclubs don't get any special bonuses from feats (no knights training or swords to plowshares). I want them to make a feat called "Join the Club" that boosts clubs and scepters.
