These videos are really helpful, one thing I learned from this video which I have never heard before is that Strength doesn't stack on armour...I had no idea.
I haven't played a lot of DDO over the years but when I have tried to play and understand the game it's been on a paladin lol.
Your Beginner Basics series is a must watch for anyone new to the game or people like me who have come and gone over the years that really don't understand it.
I didn't know that when you have a couple of gears with the same stat enchantments only the highest one will work. Thanks again
Thank you so much for this guide series! Can't wait to see about cleric
Great video and amazing vibe you have there. I’m going back to ddo after many years and your videos are not only amazingly informative but also great to watch as an entertainment. ❤
Love the beginner videos, hate when I learn something new from them despite playing the game for years.
Returning to game after couple years hiatus. Appreciate the thorough coverage of fundamentals on my fav class. TYVM
🏆 Thanks for the guide and advice - starting as an Aasimar Paladin. Just getting into DDO and its amazing so far - clearly stands up against time.
Hey I just started DDO and made a paladin so this came in really handy thanks for making it ;)
Love my pally.Thanks man.Great vid.
i love playing paladins and this gave me some great insights.. thanks..
A note about a ranged build. I just did a 18 paladin/2 artificer. Did 41 points in inquisitor, 31 points in knight of the chalice and the rest in aasimar. It clapped with the law damage and holy damage stacking. Super strong build that I thought would be shitty but it turned into one of my strongest reaper killers. EDIT: alternative to the aasimar you could punch points into faedark illusionist to get cha to hit and damage and ignore dex then.
I know this video is a year old, but I was curious to ask. Could the Charisma Build of a paladin also work extremely well with a tiefling? I've seen many run with aasimar, is truly that much more powerful?
This game seems so fun but it's very overwhelming, thanks for the videos
Sacred defender is really important. Even if you choose another enhancement tree, it's good to borrow a couple enhancements from sacred defender for extra lay-on-hands and defensive stuff in general.
Paladin sounds easy to understand. I didn't understand your other videos, because you use some terms that I don't know and skip the basic stuff.
I very much find that Lead the Charge is underrated. Getting to the fight first is nice, but it also has a debuff on enemies that leaves anything not a boss slowed for a few seconds and vastly reduces the damage you take.
Love this great for new player like me but recently your the ddo forums look to be done do you have the build posted some where else as well ?
This link will work, just takes time to update everywhere! Thanks for the call out

Hello, there. I loved this game but I cant get it to recognize my dx12? any tips for me? Ive tried to repair but no luck. What else is there? thank you.
All, I know: Charisma defines basic Turn Undead strength, and ``Improved Turning´´ feat is crucial. Also: ``Augmented Summoning´´ feat can make our hirelings have attributes high enough for those RUNES, which we cannot use ourselves (like a strength-test rune to a wizard, or a Intelligence rune to a half-orc barbarian).
Hey Strim could you help me please ? I'm trying to do a half-elf paladin and I don't know which dilettante goes well with it ?
looking at building one useing the dynastic falcata. confused on the thought of the favored weapon aspect of this class. do I need the diety or feat to benefit from the "favored weapon" in the falacata's description?
Nope, that's the benefit of the falcata! It always counts as favoured, meaning it can be used at 10, and the epic at 20, and the legendary at 30!
What if ya use that enhancement tree that uses wisdom for melee power?
Just started this game and pick Paladin due to it saying it was very good for soloing. So how do I make things bigger, UI, so I can see them? The bars are so small and so is the map.
for new and f2p peoppe out there: theres a good 2 rogue/18 paladin build on the forums thats goos for taking care of traps
what should i have as the starting stats tho?
which class best for total new player solo
This is a dumb question as I’m new to DDO, but I took the two handed fighting feat along with sovereign host deity. But any longsword I’ve found is only one handed? Unless I’m doing something wrong. Again, I’m new here lol.
Long swords are one handed weapons and can only be used one handed, unlike pen and paper where you can choose to two hand a Long sword (limitation of the videogame)
In the knight of the chalice enhancement tree (you can open with the menu on the bottom left or with ctrl+R) you can gain more favored weapons, such as the great sword, which is the two handed weapon you want to use as a two handed paladin!
@@Strimtom awesome, thanks for the reply!
So when, if at all, does one put points into Race Enhancements?
You really can't get more MAD than 3.5e Monk. Paladin is probably the next closest. But Monks were the origination of the term.
do radience items apply to their light damage?
No sadly. Paladins have no use for radiance spellpower/
I don't like to play shield using paladins as it means I can get away with simply ignoring the entire vanguard tree, making life far easier for enhancements. This is especially true for me since I like to go the feydark illusionist route (costs a valuable feat for magical training unless you multiclass) as it means less need to spread stats around (still need some for combat styles though) & by focusing heavily on CHA you can get a reliable greater colour spray to add a crowd control option & in epics it can add some very interesting possibliites to go with a magically-inclined knight using other destinies.
Turn undead is pretty wonky - it's effectiveness is keyed off charisma vs. the enemy undead hit dice, which might not direcly correlate with the enemy level, hit points & level of the content due to how scaling worked during past development, ie during some periods they'd add lots more HD vs. other times HD would be more reasonable but each individual HD would be a lot stronger (so say you might have a 40HD enemy in older heroic content but in newer content a much tougher enemy might only have 20HD). I find it can be worth having a solid turn-boosting item ("of the silver flame" etc.) as the newer gear scales better on those & giving it a try at least, as when it does work, it can make things much easier, but it's situational enough that it can be safely ignored too.
just wait until you find out that shields are geting even better in update 51 and the fact that shields can only use STR to hit and damage.
also in update 51 you can get your lay of hands to use con instead of cha
@@Troka-O.Boy07 Oh i already have a shield user, a bladeforged vanguard fighter (an LR was involved, it's 18f/1wiz/1art) with some kensai & a bunch of racial enhancements but completely ignored stalwart defender... i'm not as keen on vanguard for paladin since KotC & sacred defender are just good/useful to skip out on any
How did you get to the Class enhancements tree?!?!?!?
Found it Crtl R
does it matter what path you take in the beginning of the game?
I would recommend avoiding the paths, given that they haven't been updated in years.
plus ring of sniff 🚬
paladin is complicated? oh, oh tom. don't bring em hope.
thanks for the awesome guide. im a noob and this game is so fucking confusing. also I love your bouncy ass hair. what product do you use?
I have only one small complaint. As somebody who never played DDO your guide was kind of hard to read and understand.
Could you make it more easier to understand for complete noobs ?
