Also on console you use the left trigger button while holding an object to switch between full tile, half tile, and free placement mode.
You hold the 2 buttons above the triggers while moving one of the toggles (i forgot which one) to use the rotating thing.
On console, you use testingcheats on and bb.moveobjects instead.
To resize and raise and lower objects, you hold L, L2, R, and R2 down at the same time while using the touchpad(arrow keys).
To use the hidden objects cheat on console, after youve typed it in, go to a clutter menu, press R2, then filter with unknown items.
Sadly, Im pretty sure that you cant use live edit objects unless you get it from the gallery.

wow, i actually learned something new today. iâll throw something in here too, if your dog or cat brings you back feathers, you can actually drag them to a wall and itâll turn into this cute picture of the feather and the bird itâs from. itâs an adorable decoration that i found by myself and was shocked!

This video is a lifesaver. Quarter tiles and painting one wall are stuff I still didn't know lol
If you hit F5, you can place things on quarter tiles. It also makes it so that you can place things half of the interval up the wall as normal. This makes placing windows so much better! If you want to apply trim, a frieze, or even platform sides, but don't want to apply it to the whole room, you can apply it to only one wall by hitting either alt or shift. You can also use shift to adjust the eaves of the roof (the overhang) of just one side.

I like the window cheat where they automatically get placed i didn't know that. I also like the cheat about painting just one wall using alt key. Very cool. Thanks. :)
I love the Alt wallpaper. I used it to create a wood paneling feature wall behind an Eco Lifestyle bed in a micro home and it looks awesome.
Something that wasn't mentioned in the video is building using the Sims 3 camera instead of the default Sims 4 camera. Always always always build with the Sims 3 camera. I don't know all the benefits but if you want to be able to freely rotate using alt you have to use the Sims 3 camera.
Using Ctrl you can even adjust the vertical angle of the camera...Look up or down, instead of the Sims4 camera making that as an automatic (& arbitrary) angle. You can hold Shft & either use w/a/s/d keys to maneuver camera or use right-click/move mouse up or down to adjust the vertical pivot, or use right-click/mouse left or right for circling around a pivot point. It may take a while to get used to for people who aren't used to the Sims 3 camera but most of this was also in The Sims 2; once you've got it you can move the camera literally anywhere quickly & easily. Heck, when you get used to it, you can even play Live Mode with it.

It is still something i struggle with.Could also be that roofs and especially platforms are kinda bugged in my game but i find it sometimes hard to build with roofs(flat roofs) and platforms
Oh my good yes please!! Idk if itâs a glitch for me too, but no matter how many things I Google or try, second floor roofs are always visible in my builds, and it makes 2 story homes unplayable. I hope itâs some small mechanic Iâve missed - Iâm willing to try anything. đ
There are definitely more talented roofers out there than me đ I feel unqualified
@@qwitchyy Hello! Just to clarify and as a troubleshooting step, do your roofs disappear when you have the walls toggled all the way down? I donât like to play with them that way, Iâm just asking to try to gage if itâs something we can fix with some tricks!
If you haven't fixed this yet (or if anyone new finds this and has the same problem) make sure that your rooms definitely count as rooms. If a wall isn't part of a room properly, roofs will clip through them, which can happen a lot if you're using the general wall tool, rather than the one that builds a room.

Lol unfortunately I kept finding myself in channels that do not favor the Sims4 at all. Lots of criticism. But you're having fun with the game, flaws and all. Wonderful. Like you I never knew about the ALT key when painting a room. Great video. And I subbed to the other channel.
I didn't know about the alt to paint one wall. I have to look up the control for the quarter floor tile every time (the shortcut shows when you hover over a floor paint), but I really like making a room look a little fancier with the same cheap flooring using floor boards to make something a bit like a parquet floor by alternating the floorboards up/down vs side to side orientation e.g. the quarters that go >< have horizontal lines and those that go ^v turned 90 degrees so the lines go up and down.
I didn't know about the one-sided roof overhang option. So useful when you try to combine glass and solid roofs. Thank you!

I used the debug objects from Batuu to make the Landgraab's mansion- mini-Batuu lol. I mean- Malcolm said he liked robotics so he's got a ton of them now. It was using Dream Home Decorator.

If you are not mod-averse, Deaderpool's MC Command Center (a/k/a MCCC) will allow you to select which cheats you want to have running automatically every time you play a saved game.
This has saved me from having to have a cheat sheet at my computer, and having to do ten minutes of typing whenever I wanted to play a saved game.
One advanced BB trick no one ever seems to know about is quarter-tile placement. Know how usually you can only place objects on the big grid squares? You can always hit Alt to free place them, but what if you'd rather be sure they're aligned? Hit F5 and voilĂĄ, items can now snap to quarter tiles! Works with all objects, and also doors and windows for half-tile placement (very useful when you don't want your door to be too close to a corner), and with windows it will also unlock more placement heights, if one of the normal heights is too high and the other is too low with F5 it will now unlock an intermediate height between them, and between all normal heights. I found it accidentally while button mashing and it was a major game changer on par with moveobjects, not even Alt placement ranks as high as F5 for me. Try it!

One, that many doesn't even tell in these 'you must know this' videos, is the F5 key, that is the most genius thing that is in the game. You see, in the grid you have one full tile, the next snap placement is the half point of the tile, that's it. What if I told you that you can have 4 different snap points. With F5 you can place in the halfway point of the half snap grid. Absolute life saver when you want to keep windows on the same height, but you need to move your window only a little bit to the side, and you don't want to to fight with the alt window placement, because one window is always too high with the alt placement. You can thank me later and happy building !
I'm super late to this video, It just popped in my playlist. Been playing Sims forever... I recently discovered that if you press F5 while in build mode it changes the grid placement to every quarter tile instead of every half tile. It's super useful when placing painting on walls, especially while dragging in live-mode. If you play on Mac laptop you need to press fn+F5 while in build mode... I'm not sure about PC.

I have been playing the Sims for over 10 years and I was last week years old when I learnt how to size objects UP. I was able to size them down for months if not years but since I don't have an English keyboard, I found that on accident. So for anyone else who has a French keyboard for some reason and didn't know :

One tip I have for console is to use a keyboard and mouse. It makes playing a lot easier.

You can also use F5 to move objects half the grid, if you want finer movement while still keeping everything organized in a grid. (Found that out trying to quick save the game, LOL)

@@aproblematicscorpio4945 Basically, if every square is 3 feet, you can usually move objects at minimum 1,5 feet; but by pressing the F5 key, you can move objects at 0,75 feet, leting you have more control of their placements.
